Follow the money.There is not one "scientist" who belives in GLOBAL warming caused by CO2. Jail them all.

There are several standard atmospheres like International Standard Atmosphere (ISA), ICAO Standard Atmosphere, and U.S. Standard Atmosphere. All use either 288.15K (15C) or 59F as the temperature at sea level.

The U.S. Standard Atmosphere, International Standard Atmosphere and WMO (World Meteorological Organization) standard atmospheres are the same as the ISO International Standard Atmosphere for altitudes up to 32 km.

Yes, I remember 288K in all my texts in engineering school - Heat Transfer, Thermdynamics, Fluids etc. Since the 20th century rise is reported as 0.7C, I guess that means an actual drop of 0.3C

Now, what I do find curious are those who sincerely believe in the science not the politics - or at least claim to. The serious and mature people, not partisans and youthful mobs. You think they would be appalled at some of Team C-AGWs tactics. If C-AGW science is solid then why the need for embellishment, exaggeration, data manipulation, etc.

AGW seemed quite plausible to me until I looked a bit deeper into the science (flawed computer models for the most part) and the behavior of its promoters. Only after the solutions to C-AGW were revealed did the odd, unscientific behavior of the scientists make sense.

Geez! You can't make this stuff up! Oh wait - apparently you can!

I think I found where they get the 14 degrees C from. It is the 1961-90 global average mean temperature, and that was what they base their anomalies on.
