To get your mind completely off of politics, here's a wonderful documentary of what yours truly considers to be the funniest television show ever to air, Fawlty Towers.
Your humorous and more sober readers tips are much appreciated in the comments.

Actually I, forever, will find John Cleese to be more pathetic/toxic than Piers Morgan.
Cleese' ignorant, baseless, unsolicited remarks about Sarah Palin did it for me....he's not funny...he's pathetic.

Posted by: Lucky Lori at November 7, 2012 11:44 PMHere is a great WSJ article about why and how the GOP should pull its head out on the immigration issue and stop pandering to neurotic nativists.

Immigrants should be a natural GOP constituency. Newcomers to the U.S.—legal or illegal—tend to be aspiring people who believe in the dignity of work and self-sufficiency, and they are cultural conservatives. They are not the 47%. Republicans are also supposed to be the folks who have figured out the law of unintended consequences, such as that imposing ever-tighter border controls discourages the millions of illegal immigrants living in this country from returning home.
Posted by: LAS at November 7, 2012 11:49 PMSquatch, your objection is noted.
Have you ever heard the penis song?
Posted by: PiperPaul at November 8, 2012 12:49 AMDon't know what Cleese's politics are, but there is something about the man, and this show, that still cracks me up. And I find this Russell Brand fellow, whom I've never seen, but who apparently really upset the Manuel character, the actor Andrew Sachs with an anonymous phone call some years back, and who is now making huge money with the rather grotesque Katy Perry, whom I've never heard before (or seen), a travesty, and so typical of Hollywood.
(Sorry to run on like that)

Posted by: Robert W. at November 8, 2012 3:45 AMI for one am happy that oblamer got a second term , becasue he is now going to be around to see the effects of his policies in real time ...
I am very saddened for those patriotic americans who love there country and who voted with thier pocket book , while having the constitution in mind .
America voted FOR socialism, and romeny was right 47% of americans on food stamps voted to stay on food stamps , not better themselves .
I did not think for one second that americans had reach the maker/taker tipping point so soon so quickly.
How ever those same americans are usually heavily armed and know how to shoot , and are usually part of a militia, or prepper network of some kind . If and when the SHTF if you need a place to go you can come to my house here in airdrie it is small but safe and patriotic.
I do not see this ending well and i bet it rolls out before the presidents term , i bet blood shed start's in about the third year , what will happen in americans will want to oust obama , and the entire govornment , and the govornemnt will resist with any means necessary witch will start civil unreast and that will be that . While america is fighting it's own internal battle they will simultainiously attacked by russia, and china ...thinking it will be a sure win ....and then it is will start raining nukes al over the world ...that is what i think ...the china russia thing maybe a bit much ...but definatley a rebelion in the u.s. blood in the street's like lebanon, bengazi, syria ...all the same just in north america !!

I sympathize with the desire to have everyone covered by health insurance, but in this day and age, it may not be doable outside of a Communist government. Canada's publicly funded health care was implemented at a point when it was possible, and costs reasonable. Now -- not so much.

"The snow did more than create a winter wonderland and add to the misery for Hurricane Sandy-ravaged areas; it also entered history books in numerous cities.
The following are the daily snowfall records set on Wednesday with the previous record in parenthesis:
--Newark, N.J.: 5.7 inches (trace from 1981)
--Bridgeport, Conn.: 5.4 inches (2.0 inches from 1953)
--Worcester, Mass.: 5.2 inches (1.4 inches from 1953)
--New York City's Central Park: 4.3 inches (0.1 of an inch from 1878)
--New York City's John F. Kennedy Airport: 4.0 inches (first occurrence of snow on November 7)
--Hartford, Conn.: 3.4 inches (0.2 of an inch from 1953)
--Atlantic City, N.J.: 2.5 inches (2.0 inches from 1953)
--Islip, N.Y.: 1.7 inches (first occurrence of snow on November 7)
--Providence, R.I.: 1.3 inches (trace from 2010)
--New York City's LaGuardia Airport: 1.1 inches (first occurrence of snow on November 7)
--Bangor, Maine: 0.3 of an inch (trace from 2002)
Note that the above amounts are what fell on Wednesday, not the final total from the nor'easter.
The total in New York City's Central Park stands at 4.7 inches when the snow from early this morning is added in.
Since record-keeping began in 1869, Central Park has never measured more than 3 inches of snow this early in the winter season. Nov. 23, 1989, previously held that distinction with 4.4 inches.
The 4.7 inches at Central Park now makes this month tied with November 1989 as New York City's sixth snowiest November on record. November 1898 sits at the top of that list with 19.0 inches."

"Hedge funds reaped $149-million from cancelled Ontario power plant"
"Nearly all of the $190-million the Ontario government paid in compensation to scrap a controversial power plant west of Toronto went to eight hedge funds based in the United States and Cayman Islands to cover a controversial loan.
The hedge funds pocketed $149-million, more than twice as much as they had put up for the project, after a prolonged and aggressive legal battle in the courts in New York and Ontario. The hedge funds, all connected to Washington-based EIG Management Co., gained the upper hand thanks to an unorthodox financing agreement they had with the project developer, according to thousands of pages of internal government correspondence and legal filings reviewed by The Globe and Mail. And they took full advantage."

Posted by: maz2 at November 8, 2012 11:48 AMSasq is right about Cleese's politics, he fell completely for the man he calls "Obawmmer".Cleese's remarks re Sarah Palin were neauseatingly liberal.
But, his comedy work over the years has been some of the best ever done.
Cleese is just one example of why I hate when entertainers involve themselves in politics. They live isolated in an unreal world, are often brilliant in their own field, and complete fools outside of it.
Still, I almost voted for Paul Martin after that cute Avril Lavigne endorsed him.
Now, will Justin endorse Justin? The whole world waits.
Posted by: dmorris at November 8, 2012 12:32 PMAs much as we would have liked a different result on Tuesday, we have to admit it wasn't entirely unexpected. There's no sense being disappointed in something you can't control and was expected.
At the risk of sounding like someone desperately trying to claim victory in defeat, I just wanted to point out that Republicans retook the state Senate in Wisconsin after narrowly losing it during the failed recall effort.
So even with Obama's expected victory and the election of an openly gay US Senatrix, the people of Wisconsin recognized that their current fiscal situation is unsustainable.
A ballot initiaive in Ohio which would have precluded restrictions on collective bargaining also failed.
The nation is little changed from Monday which isn't all that bad. The status quo of gridlock prevails. Obama's agenda, while preserved for now, is not moving forward.
The economy slowed in the third quarter. While not indicative thus far of a double dip recession, it certainly isn't good news. The meme of "Inherited this mess" is over. Every terrorist act, every bad piece of economic news is now owned by Obama. You get what you pay for.
We will survive Obama and in two to four years there will be change. Republicans must learn some lessons from the last two defeats. They needn't cave in their principles, but there is no path to the White House that doesn't include winning back the Midwest, Colorado, and Nevada. Demographics are only working against us if we presume that a critical share of middle class white voters will remain encamped with Democrats. It may be a mistake to presume the GOP can make inroads to the Hispanic community, but it is a huge mistake to concede that population without trying. There are many socially conservative union members, blacks and Hispanics and Asians who can be turned away from the dark side. The youth of America eventually grow up and have to pay taxes. They will soon learn there is no free lunch.
The GOP needs to find another Reagan, and he didn't run this past year. Frankly, they all sucked and Romney sucked the least. He almost pulled it off, and none of the others stood a chance. Dont understate the reputational importance of coming up just short rather than losing big.

"Five Tibetans set themselves on fire in protest at Chinese rule"
"Campaign groups report self-immolations a day before Communist party congress opens in Beijing"

"Five Tibetans including three teenage monks and a young mother have set themselves on fire to protest against Chinese rule over the Himalayan region, according to Tibetan rights groups. At least two of them have died.
The five self-immolations – the most ever recorded by Tibetans in one day – came a day before Thursday's start of a week-long Communist party congress in Beijing that will usher in China's new political leadership.
The three monks set themselves on fire at about 3pm outside a police station in Ngaba county, Sichuan province, while calling for freedom and the return of their exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, according to the non-profit broadcaster Radio Free Asia."
