Today, they have Romney as a large underdog. The are giving 4 to 1 odds on Obama.
Their bookies obviously get their political handicapping from the MSM.
I broke my usual betting limit and placed $50 on Romney.
If I lose, the $50 will be the least of my..and the worlds, worries.

Posted by: sasquatch at November 6, 2012 5:41 PMIf Romney/Ryan somehow lose tonight, then the new media sources on the right that I have been frequenting were lying. A lot rests on these results. SNN is where I want to watch the election but the slow results are forcing me to watch CNN instead. And CBC? They reported 0.3% of polls in Florida a little while ago -- this 10-15 minutes after CNN had reported 4% of polls in... I go back and forth between CNN and SNN... SNN more for the commentary.

No worries .
I will say this , if Obama wins ,it will be all over for America they will have become a socialist/Marxist/communist. Country and that will not bode well for the rest of the world or Americans either.
Not much will change but it will have been proven that the handouts trump hard work and independent pride in ownership.
It is really that simple ,and even if Romney wins , he may get the economy rolling but the debt and all of the problems America faces ..will not be solved even when Romney is in his grave!!!
Posted by: Paul in Calgary at November 6, 2012 8:08 PMGellen, must be nice. I have only the Rogers VIP package which, unfortunately, doesn't include Fox. Very quick results I'm sure, very in-depth like CNN but with better commentary of course.

FOX doesn't look very...I'm not sure of the term but 'convincingly accurate' is the best I can do.
As I said a week ago and more: Romney in a landslide is what I think will happen.
I'm taking off from even the sporadic watching I've been doing today because this is my anniversary when I married Mrs.Oz 29 years ago more or less.(we own our own business and we're taking 10 days off starting last Friday afternoon)
A curse on Obama, his family, and his evil communist minions; I wouldn't spend a minute on this today if it weren't for the fact that life will be so much better without him and so much worse if he wins today.
Posted by: Oz at November 6, 2012 8:18 PM" it will have been proven that the handouts trump hard work and independent pride in ownership."
Paul, that sounds a lot like how our reserves are set up today. The best jobs are the jobs that involve looking after the people without jobs.
This economical model is sustainable on a small basis, but as it gets larger it will cave in on itself. It would be akin to a family supporting the one that is in constant need. Many can support a few ,but as the many decrease and the few increase,it will collapse. And it won't be pretty.

America never ceases to amaze me.
Posted by: Mark at November 6, 2012 9:55 PMIt's not quite over, but yeah... pretty depressing.
Lessons:
1) hard core social conservatism is a sure fire way to lose elections.
2) Romney was a weak candidate who got his stuff together in the last few weeks, but at the end of the day looking at the overall story, he was a weak candidate who did not excite the base, and who was not fundamentally different than Obama. Excellent summary at Zerohedge.
www.zerohedge.com/news/2012-11-06/it-doesnt-matter
3) Welfare state mentality is now the new normal in the USA. I'm not quite ready to say that American exceptionalism is dead, but if it is to come back to life it needs a better spokesman than a RINO like Romney.
Still, as weak and unimpressive as Romney was, he would have been better than then socialist-in-chief.

"Romney is going to win the popular vote but lose the Electoral College. That should shut up the leftards about Bush 2000 LOL."
That's the problem, though. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with being mum on that issue, especially the MSM. Their choosing to remain silent on that topic is exactly what they would want rather than to explain their inconsistency on the matter -- having to explain why the popular vote was deemed supreme by them in 2000 and questioning the legitimacy of the EC system in their analysis while doing the opposite this go around.

Posted by: ann at November 6, 2012 10:49 PMI'll probably get attacked, but so be it. Ezra Levant was on earlier, blaming Sandy and the media coverage it got as well as laying blame on NJ giv Christie for having gotten his prediction so wrong (a "landslide" for Romney, remember... not even a squeaker), using those issues as some sort of fig leaf with which to cover himself, having been caught yet again making another bogus prediction and trying to lay blame on others for having gotten it wrong.... Totally lame! Both Sandy and the Christie factor happened before his prediction was made, which was just 2 days ago, so both had to be factored into his prediction already. Ditto for the Jewish vote in Florida and laying blame at them. Levant needs to stop making predictions, really! He needs to learn there's a distinction to be made between wishful thinking and objective analysis. I'm crossing my fingers he predicts a landslide for Justin in 2015 or stays out of the fray completely.
Jason @ 10:15...

Useful Idiots!

Posted by: Robert W. (Vancouver) at November 6, 2012 11:28 PMSo, Obama wins but not by much.
He doesn't have a mandate from the American people to bankrupt the U.S. despite the win.
For an incumbent president to just squeak back into office shows how deeply divided Americans are. If Obummer continues on the path he's on, heaping huge debt on Americans and future generations, there's going to be a huge outcry -- or there should be on the part of almost 50% of American voters who voted Republican.
It appears that the MSM and single women made the difference in this election. Married women voted for Romney, single women for Oblahblah, and there are now more single women in the U.S. than married women, according to Fox News. I don't find this surprising.
I hope that the enthusiastic support for the Romney/Ryan ticket -- not, unfortunately, enthusiastic enough to elect Romney president -- begins a groundswell of opposition to Obama's disastrous course for the U.S. and that his administration's "policies" (sic) are put under much more scrutiny than in the past four years.
What happens to an investigation into Benghazi now? Can the Republican-held House of Representatives call for one?
Posted by: batb at November 6, 2012 11:29 PMRomney will be a decent person and make a gracious concession speech wishing Obama well. I have no doubt that he will mean it. And I also have no doubt that Obama would have done the same had he lost. Will the typical SDAer be equally as gracious, or will petty small-minded tribalism prevail?

This is not only truly disturbing only to Republicans and others who voted Rep - but to the rest of the free world who look to America to lead a FREE world.
America has voted back in a SOCIALIST who will endeavour to continue to promote his socialist/commmunist agenda.
I fear for the free world. I fear for my grand-children.

In years that follow victory won,
How sweet to feel your festal fame
In woman's glance instinctive thrown:
Repose is yours--your deed is known,
It musks the amber wine;
It lives, and sheds a light from storied days
Rich as October sunsets brown,
Which make the barren place to shine.
But seldom the laurel wreath is seen
Unmixed with pensive pansies dark;
There's a light and a shadow on every man
Who at last attains his lifted mark--
Nursing through night the ethereal spark.
Elate he never can be;
He feels that spirit which glad had hailed his
worth,
Sleep in oblivion.--The shark
Glides white through the phosphorus sea.

... So we must redouble our efforts.
If Obama wins tonight, as seems likely, he has no mandate. He ran on a platform of “Mitt Romney is teh sux.” I’m not sure how that translates into a governing platform, and neither is anyone else. If Romney pulls this out, he’ll have a hostile Senate for at least the first half of his term.
Either way, we’re looking at deadlock.
It’s our job, yours and mine, to pick that lock. Do not tire, do not flag, do not quit. ...
... If Obama wins, we will need to fight him at every turn.
I’m not quitting. Don’t you quit now, either.
Posted by: batb at November 6, 2012 11:50 PMYou know, I think their country is screwed no matter who had won (and they'll take us down with them). They probably asked themselves as they saw their once-great civilisation burn and crumble:" Where did we go wrong? Oh yeah. We let an emperor marry his horse."
But, as H. Ryan so astutely pointed out, Obama inherited his own mess. Even if he does get impeached- and he will make sure that never happens- America is still done. If people had to really think who to vote for this time around and actually re-elect someone like Obama, the nation is finished.

You said it. It would have been a struggle. Now that there is no struggle, America will hit that fiscal brick wall at 100 miles per hour with Canada strapped to it's jock stap. We'll be like bugs hitting a windshield, the last thing to go through our mind will be our ass.
Posted by: Oz at November 6, 2012 11:57 PMThe final nail in the coffin wasn't that Obama won, the final nail was the fact that it was even close at all. Had Romney managed to win, that was still going to be the case.
I think the Republican Party will rapidly cease to exist after this. It has finally, once and for all, confirmed that it is incapable of mounting a counterargument to the Left. All those many years that Republican wins amounted to nothing more than treading water for a few years here and there; they never actually pushed back against the leftward drift. Now we see the final consequences of that.
Secession is not going to happen. But a gradual balkanization certainly will. In fact, you could say it has already been happening for a while now. The balkanization will continue until people realize there have been de facto secessions.
I am so filled with pain and sadness. I thought the prospect of an Obama reelection would fill me with anger, but it's really more a sense of loss and mourning. People have casually tossed aside something unique, that came with a heavy price, for what amounts to a few token trinkets, tossed in their food bowl like a bone to a dog.

Let Obamba speed up the decline and let him and his ilk answer for it, the sooner the better.

I'm disappointed that the idiot Warren won in Massachusetts, but the state does have a long track record of being on the liberal side so it isn't a complete surprise. A couple of the other Republican Senate candidates who inserted foot into mouth probably deserved to lose.
There is no real reason to think that Canada under Stephen Harper will be dragged down by an American collapse. An economy consists of all the acts of production, trade and consumption among individual citizens. If Canada doesn't screw ours up, it can continue to run fairly smoothly. The problem will be supplies from the U. S. A bigger problem would be if Kim Justin-il manages to dupe Canadians.
The good news is this: Reality always avenges itself. Capitalism and the free market are the only principles on which to found a successful human society. The so-called 47% are not beyond redemption, they are human, and they too would like to be productive and feel good about themselves - which they can't do on state handouts. One big problem is that the left-wing-run education system hasn't taught them properly. That's why education should be separated from the state.
