Without a doubt, most of the MSM is getting dragged along by the conservative press on this story. There is no leadership whatsoever by these giants of journalism.

I watched CNN's coverage of the "email" story. They did it in a strangely indirect sort of way. It was only when John McCain came on did the full ramifications of the story come out. Anderson Cooper looked like he wanted to cry. It may have been occurring to him that Obama was not going to see a 2nd term.

Apologies for the one-track mind, but something that Ann Coulter said months ago is preoccupying me. Ann opined that if the Democrats are complaining about something, i.e., suspicious of the Republicans, it may be because they are (or have been) indulging in the tactics they accuse their opponents of. Obama claims to be women-friendly. Yet, I have heard rumours of exactly the opposite within his Administration. Anita Dunn, for example, has deemed the admin as a hostile workplace for women, of the frat boy variety. This is in sharp contrast to what he accuses the Republicans of: a war on women. A google search---after pages and pages of research--- turned up a book by David Suskind. Well, the book was panned by the reviewer as a work of "gossip". But I wonder. It seems to me that women in Liberal circles are great at spouting talking points for the democrats: "millions (pick a number)"" of jobs have been created by this President". However, they seem to know their place within the re-election effort---witness the UN Ambassador, Rice.

Gardener, what you're seeing with the Obama numbers is a divide between the left and right that is almost too big to bridge, regardless of what happens. The left (and some on the right) are so ideologically entrenched, they refuse to see anything wrong with their own. See my post from "clinton" above. Clinton believes that it's all a fox news propaganda piece. This has been building up for years. We've allowed the lies to take root even while we laughed at them and those that believed them. "big oil", "military industrial complex", "wall street", and now even capitalism as evil entities have become truths in the minds of those on the left. While you and I go about our daily lives and shake our heads at the Michael Moore's of this world, wondering how anyone could believe the lies, those on the left are absorbing it all as truth and altering reality to fit their belief. All this really makes me feel terribly obsolete but suspicious...this remarkable availablity of assets on short notice...just was not possible in the early '90's.

That said the presence of these assets, on the scene so fast, begs the question that this "terrorist attack" was not really a surprise but expected.

These matters are ponderous things which take time and planning. Assets such as men and machines do not just sit about untasked, never did....in most cases best hope,to get any decent reaction time, requires re-tasking...not a simple matter to be decided by the whim of a junior officer.

That said the stand-down order smacks of civilian, political direction. I suspect Jarrott or the "won" himself.

Pete, thanks for for your thoughts It is evident to me that some of these Obama adherents worship the State. I guess voting and being "cool" and whining is an easier way to live than pursuing faith. It is simpler to go on Letterman and MTV and spout nonsense, preaching to the choir, ironically. It is the line of least resistance with very little personal responsibility involved. The coward's way out is to watch Dancing with the stars rather than the News. Civic duty is a serious thing and not all are willing to embrace it. Unfortunately, freedom is precarious. If the populace does not value and take it seriously, they may end up having to fight for it, literally.
