The Leader of the Free World

Stephen Harper.

You can speak with credibility based on your own financial sector success, but you are also regarded as a leading multilateralist. Abroad, Canada is identified by its values of coordination and consensus building, which have given your country influence beyond its years.

The left is obviously correct, the world does have a lot less respect for a Conservative Canada.

One can just see the anger welling up in Mulcairs eyes when he reads that, along with the dazed look from Justin, I'd say Steven about nailed it. He will be Canadas greatest leader in future as he is currently. Headline from Globe writers will read "Harper rumoured to be having affair with Legard at hockey game". Is it husting season or is that just the sound of leftie heads exploding in rage outside?

Every now and then a country gets a government that improves he quality of life of its citizens.

It doesn't happen very often, and it doesn't last for very long.

Enjoy it, Canada, while you can.

Normally I'd say who cares what Legard says, the old harpy. But the idea of Mulcair's head exploding sounds so awesome, I'll say "Go Chistine! Testify!"

Careful . . . She's still a socialist at heart so this may be the buttering up before she asks Canada to help bail out the Euromess Economic Zone.

Posted by: Fred at October 26, 2012 9:48 AM

Fred nails it. "butter up"

Definition: charm someone with flattery

Synonyms: adulate, bootlick, brownnose, build up, cajole, flatter, inveigle, lay it on thick, massage, play up to, soften, spread it on, stroke, suck up to, sweet-talk, work on

Posted by: Celina at October 26, 2012 9:57 AM

We can send them tar sand. Let them figure out what to do with it when they get it.

Posted by: The Phantom at October 26, 2012 9:57 AM

Sure ... the EU mandarins want Canada to buy into their credit ponzi using our tax dollars.

Posted by: OMMAG at October 26, 2012 10:06 AM

She has to come here because she is smart enough to see the mess BamBam has made of the US economy and knows there are no freebies there.

Our help sorting out the abomination, Fred? What help could we give if we even wanted to?

More like someone's plans for "retirement" after the whole house of cards comes tumbling down include a quiet condo in Plateau Mont-Royal, and Christine thinks cheap flattery will help get her asylum in Canada.

Nice try, pet. You'll have to start looking at the colonies the English didn't bother taking off your hands. Would you say no to Ivory Coast? The local chieftain owes the French more favours than we do.

"Beyond it's years"?

Aw, Canada's just a pup! Yes, we all have much more respect for older countries, like, say, India or China...

'More like someone's plans for "retirement" after the whole house of cards comes tumbling down'
Dick Slater

Too true Dick...I've been saying for years that the master plan for the euroweenies is to move into Canada after the collapse of Europe.

Trouble is they're sure to bring their socialist agenda along with their autocratic thoughts on how we should do things here.

Certain Cdn politicians will happily aid in this...their dual Cdn/French citizenship already being worn with pride. Others...believing that a'little more multi-cultural influx' would give Canada a much more sophisticated atmosphere.

My thoughts...cut quebec loose...and fast.

Conspiracy theory?...perhaps
Probability?...more than likely.

I perused her speech...did she even mention PMSH?
What is it with socialists, so afraid to praise a conservative. I see where Akin did.

Way to Prime Minister Harper!

Posted by: bluetech at October 26, 2012 11:02 AM

Oh yeah. She is definitely brown nosing for bucks. Hopefully PMSH will show her the door, like he did Merckel.

Posted by: Justthinkin at October 26, 2012 11:10 AM

Few people are as big an admirer of PMSH as I am. However it needs to be noted that the author gives to much credit to the PM for the relatively fortunate position Canada is in AND she overlooks some serious weaknesses.

Were it not for a huge boom in commodity prices our economic outlook likely be worse than that of the US. We have a looming real estate bubble. Our in$urance sector is as weak relative to its international peers as the banking system is strong. Our labor market and productivity continues to be more over-regulated and lagging than in the US.

Someday - maybe soon we will pay the price for these deficiencies. And we should not give PMSH credit for them today as by doing so we saddle him with the blame when the worm turns.

The Phantom @ 9:42: Beauty!
She is a socialist thru and thru. Instead of quoting Gretzky I would quote Luongo's complaint about pumping Thomas's tires and not getting any love back.

The Euros are going broke and I am sure they will want to tap the IMF for funds as they go under. I cannot help thinking of that VP of Canadian operations for a oil major from France. He wouldn't shut up about how backward Canada was in how they managed their finances. The Euros have never been shy about trying to tap North America when their affairs blow up.

IMHO it is time for Putin and his gang to bankroll the Euros.

Jeezus, are those whiskers?
I know this is book/cover stuff but...
Are there any ratfaced politicians NOT socialist?
Why are all rat faced politicians socialists?
McGuinty, Alberta's Premier, Austalia's Prime Minister, etc etc?

I can't think of one rat faced conservative politician; there must be some.

GO PRIME MINISTER STEVE!

Posted by: richfisher at October 26, 2012 12:09 PM

From my seat on he right I see being praised as a globalist by a socialist as pretty thin gruel...like Stalin praisng Mao for getting population growth and dissent under control.

Posted by: peter at October 26, 2012 12:32 PM

Wouldn't be the first time they'd tried it, old duffer. No prizes for guessing where half the rats leaving the sinking ship that was Vichy France washed ashore.

That was after they'd forced the Queen's Canadian ministers to give God's chosen people the Pierre Trudeau salute in their time of genuine need.

Posted by: Dick Slater at October 26, 2012 1:03 PM

On the other hand, everybody from Brantford knows that Wayne Gretzky's a Tory (born Tory, or born a Tory, according to taste). Anybody need to see my birth certificate?

On the other hand, what's with this Ontario Tory and Western Canada thingee? John Diefenbaker, Stephen Harper and Wayne Gretzky...

"....a great player knows where the pucks going to be"

Yes, the IMF has really figured that one out, that’s why their begging us for a puck.

Piss off.

Go destroy another third world country somewhere.

Posted by: Knight 99 at October 26, 2012 2:06 PM

The IMF, the UN, the concept of the EU. Just a few things the world needs a lot less of.

I really don't think PMSH will start throwing money her way. Now, if it were Chretien....

Posted by: Brian M. at October 26, 2012 9:14 PM

I propose that we send her all Canadian one-cent coins minted from 2013 onward.
