No wonder the train got wrecked. The railway station is built backwards! (check sign on the wall)

Posted by: Robert, Penticton at April 21, 2012 1:00 AM

so worked up.
He epitomises the picture of liberalism: so open minded your brains fall out.

Posted by: bluetech at April 21, 2012 1:05 AM

Kate, tch, tch, you should have given us fair warning.

The picture of the train wreck is appropriate for what most of here think will happen to Red fraud on Monday.

Wildrose offers a home for any religion including fundamentalist Christians. Anyone who believes in a literal reading of the Bible understands that the preacher is merely trying to save wayward souls. A literal reading of the Bible isn't kind to queers.

All the other parties line up to tell conservative Christians how unwelcome they are. There are a lot of Chistians in Alberta who believe in a literal Bible. Wildrose now owns them.

The wonderful thing about an election is that if you are concerned about someone's religion you can be a bigot and reject them for their beliefs.

Posted by: Scar at April 21, 2012 1:34 AM

Why is Raj Sherman coming across as such a racist intolerant pig? He's a doctor you know? All his former Tory caucus buddies wrote him off as a lunatic. He's a doctor you know? Now he states he would never allow a fundamentalist Christian in the Liberal Party. Did I mention that Raj is a doctor?

Hey, the obscure website to which you linked, ostensibly managed by a wrinkly old man, is deleting comments.

Posted by: Mike in Calgary at April 21, 2012 1:56 AM

#1. LOL - Well at least Kinsella’s talking from experience "“kick the idiots/extremists out. “ well in a weird if not a very awkward position for most.

#2. Get it?

They not only try to trash the Pastor for his personal beliefs they hypocritically attack WRP member Ron Leech for speaking to the Punjab community as a white supremacist:

"I believe when I come to our community here I am
very concerned that the Punjabi community have not been esteemed, lifted up. When a Punjabi leader speaks for the Punjabi, the Punjabi are
listening but when a Caucasian speaks on their behalf everybody is listening." - CTV Calgary

They conveniently forget to highlight that within Mr. Leech’s comment he clearly stated - “...I come to our community here I am very concerned that the Punjabi community have not been esteemed, lifted up.”

Obviously a clear indication that his comments were meant as positive support of the Punjabi community, regardless of the malicious spin doctors on the left.

In fact it has always been a leftist Liberal Progressive stand that “White Caucasians have a distinct advantage over visible minorities in western society”. This is the platform the Liberal Left uses to justify Affirmative Action. They attack him for speaking their own core beliefs. LOL.

Are they now seriously saying that Affirmative Action for minorities is no longer required?

What a bunch of morons.

Posted by: Knight 99 at April 21, 2012 2:00 AM

I find it entertaining that, after decades of calling Albertans racists, the media is warning Albertans about racists.

Posted by: Kate at April 21, 2012 2:15 AM

The comment section on WK's website seems very one sided. Just the usual tails that are used to wagging the dog. They seem desperate and worried that Wildrose might win. That is a good thing. Some of the wingnuts are even threatning to move to BC. That is also a good thing. As one of the knuckle dragging mouth breathing rednecks I can only say one thing. Go Wildrose, and bring the Province back to the people.

I was going to comment in the form of a poem, but could not make 'Kinsella' rhyme with 'kryptonite'.

Posted by: Shaken at April 21, 2012 3:26 AM

I was chatting with a prominent WR member about all the racism crap that's being tossed around. The conversation went off the rails pretty quickly. By that I mean that we wound up talking about how cool we thought The Coz, Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Irshad Manji, and Tina Turner are instead of the original bitch session we were working ourselves up for.

Yup, that's us: Total haterz. (snort)

Posted by: Sean at April 21, 2012 3:55 AM

The PCs planned this intolerance gambit long ago, and the sad thing is, it works to some degree.

They have the muzzles extra-tight on their own religious loose cannons...our PC candidate Dave Dorward didn't even show up to the all-candidates forum this week, they sent some party flak in his place. I suspect they have made sure Mr. Dorward is bound and gagged in some basement someplace, while the PCs play the religion card. You don't see the news media reporting on that.

Posted by: turtle at April 21, 2012 4:22 AM

Warren is the type of "expert" a political organization has to rely on as a last resort.
After that they got nothing.
Hopefully the liberals keep him on until they cease to exist.

Posted by: Joseph at April 21, 2012 6:58 AM

I think Albertans pretty much look at conservative Christians with a ho hum attitude. We know they are not racists etc. We do find Liberal slugs like Kinsella offensive. What happened to smart guy Kinsella's Liberal Party? You don't hear much from them anymore. The old Reform Party has run Canada for the last 6 years and the next 4 years. Obviously Canadians don't value Kinsella's bigoted opinions all that much.

The Liberals were handed their a$$es in the last 3 elections running on the scary Conservative platform. Next time they might want to try policies.

Posted by: robins111 at April 21, 2012 7:57 AM

The question that really matters is not how many vote, nor who they vote for. The ONLY question that matters is who COUNTS the votes. Do you have any better control of that up in the Great White North than we do here SOUTH of the Border?

Posted by: Mark Matis at April 21, 2012 8:11 AM

As usual, the left hasn't figured out that libertarian means being free to do, be and what you want so long as you don't tread on others. Kind of a confusing concept for bigoted, racist, mouth breathing, closed minded bastards though. Yup, they are what they portray us as.

Posted by: the bear at April 21, 2012 8:24 AM

We employ people to count the votes. No machines are used. I simply don't trust them. Edmonton used to use them for municipal elections years ago.

A voting place might have 10 or more polls, each consisting of 2 people. Before they go home, they have to count the ballots in their boxes. Because the count is done by so many different people, the chance of stealing an election is rare. If the vote in a constituency is close it is recounted.

I find it very heartening that Warnout Kantsellya is so irate about this Wild Rose party, and can't seem to shut up about what a bunch of wingnuts/racists/bigot/homophobes they are.

That means its pretty much in the bag for Danielle Smith.

By the way, for all you proles out there who have trouble keeping the family flivver together for that hated trip to work Monday morning, Warnout is up at The Cottage this weekend.

Yes friends, The Cottage, that traditional Toronto Establishment getaway in Muskoka where the cognoscenti commune with Nature. Boating and games of Scrabble around the fireplace, ah me.

But take heart thou Governed Ones! It is COLD and MISERABLE today down here in Golden Horseshoe Land, so up north in Cottage Country its going to be nearly arctic. Watch out for ice, Warnout.

Sour grapes perhaps, but mildly satisfying nonetheless.

BTW, who the hell leaves gas in their boat over the winter? That is the dumbest thing.

Posted by: The Phantom at April 21, 2012 9:01 AM

Whatever happened to "disagreeing with what you say, but defending your right to say it"? Quite simply, leftists don't believe in free speech.

It's all emotion to them. A candidate says something hurtful, so he must be purged and silenced. Not enough to disagree with him.

At this point they know they're doomed, so they're desperate for any mud to throw at the party.

And having Kinsella's disapproval is the best endorsement I can think of for Wildrose.

Is it another example of our duplicitous Premier being caught in a web of lies?

Once again, nothing in the media this morning.

I suspect Kinsella and his ilk are now victims of their own "cry wolf" syndrome. Previous Liberal/lefty wild-eyed accusations about Reform, Canadian Alliance, Conservative candidates on closer scrutiny have so frequently turned out to be pure hogwash that most sensible people can't even be bothered to take renewed accusations as anything more than lefty background noise. When coupled with the fact that the msm ignore or play down such things as NDP riding associations debating then voting for resolutions condemning Canadian soldiers as war criminals, the credibility of the left wing media-political complex is in the tank.
The twenty or so people who regularly read Kinsella's blog had their minds rusted shut long ago. His influence is nil.

Scar said: "I think the idiots from Ontario fail to grasp that the same people who were Progressive-Conservatives are now Wildrose."

Ontario is in the middle of doing the same thing Scar. We just had an election here with the worst showing possible by the PCs under Hudak. McGuinty should have been decimated, instead he's got a solid minority and the NDPee gained seats too.

Because why? Because Hudak and company ran the WORST campaign I've ever seen. They are -idiots-, and they are not significantly more conservative than McGuinty's Liberals.

In fact, McGuinty just proposed a more conservative budget than anything I've ever heard out of Hudak. He's denouncing it, of course. Leaving McGuinty the NDP to kowtow to and weaken the proposed budget cuts with the Dipper's patented socialist wankerosity.

What's a Conservative to do? Build a new party or renovate the PCs?

I think we should start something called the Cluebat Of Truth Party, and just go around smacking Liberals and PCs upside the head. Makes more sense than what that fool Hudak is doing.

One can't help but be impressed with Danielle Smith and the political courage that she has shown over the campaign. When two of her candidates made the mistake of speaking in a politically incorrect manner, the easiest and safest route for Ms. Smith would have been to throw both miscreants under the bus and go into damage control mode. Yet she steadfastly stood behind both men. Name another politician capable of such conviction and fearlessness.

Danielle Smith also had the audacity to publicly question the mega scam of man-made global warming when most, if not all, politicians would have issued some nonsensical feel-good pronouncement even when they had serious doubts about the whole debacle. Now this takes a good deal of courage especially during an election campaign.

Isn't it about time that this country had some politicians who weren't too timid to speak their minds or to stand behind their teammates when they stray beyond the boundaries of political correctness?

Most Conservative/ Libertarian attitudes (majority Albertan) believe that you have every right to be gay, Islamic, a drug addict whatever. You just do not have the right to forcefully stick it in our faces, especially our children’s faces or rob and harass us because of it.

We only want proper property rights and self defense laws to build BIG virtual fences to keep you out of our lives and protect our children from you. Any other culture in the world is allowed to do so, in fact encouraged to do so.

If you give us our protections, we would gladly ignore all of your eccentricities and bizarre fetishes. Unfortunately the extremists will not leave normal people alone and therefore we are forced to take all available actions against your freedoms in our society’s to restrict your access to us.

In a nutshell, if you allowed me to legally stick a gun between your eyes when you break into my home for drug money, I would gladly support your right to inject rat poison or whatever into your arm. If you stopped forcing gay agenda books on our kids in public schools, people would turn a blind eye to gay marriage. Stop building towering mosques and blaring prayers, and forcing the Islamification of our nations, we won’t push to ban your immigration here. Very simple.

There are no real conservatives left in Ontario.
The majority of the population is so paralyzed with political correctness that they are convinced that what they see in their province in just the way it has to be. Those that realized the truth also realized that the one sure way to invoke change was to do it themselves. So they left the me.
It has been near 15 years since I left and every time I go back to visit Ontario, I marvel at what willing sheep the people are. Bleating and screaming behind closed doors, but grovelling and prostrating themselves when in public.
So glad Alberta continues to be the pointy end of the stick when in comes to issues of true freedom.

there are still some of us conservatives here in onterio, we just don't have a conservative party to vote for

Posted by: NME666 at April 21, 2012 4:24 PM

NME666, "pray tell, how then you allbrightens wind up with Redfart if you are so conservative out there". This just happened gradually and the people finally woke up when it became more blatant under Stelmach and Redfraud and began to personally touch them as the payoff to the teachers and the proposed new school act.

Not enough people in Ontario have woken up to what has happened to them incrementally over time and if they are not careful they will end up like Quebec.

Knight 99, well said @ 2:57.

Jan in Alberta,we just came back from a visit to Ontario and can confirm what you said. Toronto and the teachers union have a lot of clout that casts a big shadow over any coherent government renewal.

Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at April 21, 2012 6:18 PM what Ken(Kulak) said. It is an instance of 'boiling the frog' so to speak. I smelled the outhouse when the door swung open and Stelmach emerged. Redford wasn't even elected by general election but installed by the rancid party the PC's had become. I figured that the next general election would prove what I already know.
That Albertans are true conservatives.
Watch Monday carefully. What you will see is REAL conservatives making a choice between saying what is populist or doing what actually makes a difference.
Quit being shamed into silence by the 'holier than thou' attitude of leftist apparatchiks. They rely on your submission to maintain power. Speak truth about what you SEE and challenge those that would tell you not to THINK.
REAL conservatives speak their mind. How other people 'FEEL' about that is a challenge for them to figure out.

Ken.....Thank you for your observations. Finding the paralyzed populace in the GTA is like fishing in a barrel. I visit family in the NE/NW of the province and it is shocking to hear how the entitled the miners, foresters and other 'hard working' folks have become. They see no reason to make things better for themselves because 'those people' in southern Ontario 'owe' them and the government has to do something.
I personally doubt the resolve of Ontarians to make any 'risky' choices. Then just can't see past their own fear to see the potential rewards.

Its true Kevin, Rob Ford is a dastardly human being for going to the cottage during Pride Week, or Pride Month, or however long it is these days. The nerve of that guy, not presenting himself to be mocked and have things thrown at him in the annual Prideful Parade Private Parts. There oughta be a law.

Jan in Alberta said: "There are no real conservatives left in Ontario."

Well I'm here, so there's at least one Jan. :) Truth is that Ontario is -very- conservative once you get out of Toronto and Hamilton. We just don't get covered in the media is all.

Hamilton these days is a low-rent dumping ground for people who can't cope. For a very interesting map of what's going on in Hamilton look at this thing from the Spectator (its TorStar, so a pinch of salt is recommended to counteract editorial bias):

Toronto is epitomised by our friend Warnout Kantsellya, also known by friends of SDA as the Lying Jackal. He's a common type in the Toronto halls of power. As can be seen from his blog, he thinks its perfectly ok to destroy the reputations of people whose politics differ from his. No pretext for attack is too small, no tactic too petty to be used. Vindictiveness and scorched earth Monday to Friday, then off to the cottage to relax for the weekend.

If it was just one guy we could all point and laugh, but there's a whole INDUSTRY of these @ssh0les out there. The Jackal is instructive as the public expression of a backroom wheeler-dealer from Hogtown.

However, much as it pains me to admit it you are 100% right that Out West is the pointy end of the Conservative spear. Mostly because that's the only place in Canada where people are building something -new-. Here in Ontario we live among the sagging remnants of What Was, namely the industrial heart of Canada circa 1960. Kind of depressing really.
