Not Watching For The Asteroid

NBC is sorry they were caught;

That apology addresses the “Today” show’s failure to abridge accurately the conversation between Zimmerman and the dispatcher in this high-profile case. This is how the program portrayed a segment of that conversation:
Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.
And here is how it actually went down:
Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?

Zimmerman: He looks black.

Stunned I say... I'm stunned (as Black Mamba would point out, there should be no need add the sarc marker)

Really, Kate, you must remember the principles of Ingsoc before trying to apply Western (ick!) linear logic (ick! ick!) to politically correct news "narratives." Doublethink is called for in this case. What matters is that the party line--ably communicated by its NBC Ministry of Truth organ--be diffused to the masses, not what some abstract "objective observer" might conclude. Everything is political! I fear that the Ministry of Love might have to hie itself to Saskatchewan and set up Room 101 on the Prairie somewhere near your house, unless you recant convincingly.

Yours in Party solidarity,

Indeed , the sheeple must be managed, and led by their betters at the slimestream, uh, media industrial complex to reinstall Duh Won come november. Race baiting and class struggle, that'll do it!

So now we must regulate the intertubes, before these serfs wise up to us.

That Cameron guy that was just here bussing our behind, he had some good ideas...Hey Axelrod, let's get that going!

Liar Liar pants on fire. Fire them all.
typical Media today. Making fake stories up themselves for political gain. Instead of following real ones. That they put a mans future in jeopardy before a trial shows the depths of the MSM rot. This is no Bernardo or Clifford Olsen case. Least of all the Pigford serial killings. The Judges closed those down mysteriously from the public, but especially the Press. Even though cut & dried. Here Its been twisted by the so called Media for sensation by made up lies. Someone should see jail time for this.

Very, very slimy!! Now that the damage is done and there are baked out gang bangers roaming around wanting to make a name in the Hood by offing they apologize. Yep, yep, on page ten in 8 point type in the lower right hand corner of the pages.

Very ugly stuff going on south of the border. And right in the middle of is the Empty Suit. Who'da thought!!

Posted by: Patsplace at April 4, 2012 3:50 AM

And oddly, nobody has tweeted the home address of the NBC producer's parents.

Posted by: Shaken at April 4, 2012 7:14 AM

I will continue to not watch NBC.

Posted by: Mississauga Matt at April 4, 2012 7:37 AM

"All the news that fits, we print." Nothing new here.
Thank goodness for the internet and the ability to show these bald-faced liars for who they truly are. What's news is the fact that there is a group of people out there who are so irretrievably dense as to believe that in this day and age they can be such pathetic liars, get away with it, and yet still be able to get their clothes on and get to work in the morning. Maybe their mothers dress them.

Posted by: DrD at April 4, 2012 7:53 AM

So what NBC is saying is that they take their prime directive from George Carlin's sportcaster philosophy. I calls them as I sees them and if I don't sees them I makes them up.

Posted by: Joe at April 4, 2012 9:05 AM

This type of spin comes from the media on a regular basis. If not for the bloggers like Kate, and news casters like Fox and Sun News none of this would ever come to light. In the words of Donald Trump bring someone into the board someone will be fired!

Posted by: deere boy at April 4, 2012 9:42 AM

They called it "an error made in the production process?" They've got to be joking. Not even a child would accept that excuse. What they did was willful and malicious. There needs to be a lawsuit for let's say, $300 million, against NBC. Because it's anti-Hispanic racism.

Posted by: grok at April 4, 2012 9:44 AM

Brian Williams has his sticky fingers all over this and should be "called out"! He's a leftist News man, his gig is News not Opinion.
this from Breitbart...

If Zimmerman is charged, I suspect that part of the defence will be what is essentially double jeopardy. Police and prosecutors determined that the claim of self defense was consistent with the evidence. Any charges would have come about from political outrage created from false evidence from ABC, NBC, and others. I suspect Zimmerman is destined to be very wealthy thanks to the networks falsifying evidence.

I hope that this Zimmerman guy gets himself a really really good lawyer.

This is just a peek at what is to come in the US if Obamugabe gets back in.
The bad news is that if Romney gets in and becomes a typical go along to
get along RINO president with zero backbone, the extreme left will riot
first time every time and do their damndest to collapse the already on life
support economy.

Posted by: Sgt Lejaune at April 4, 2012 9:59 AM

That network is wrong on so many levels. I agree with grok that there is no way this could be a production error. Their initial propeganda piece has been made worse by the excuse masquerading as an apology. Now that they have been found out, they want to deflect from and minimize what they have done.

They have committed a wrong against the people of the United States. They tried to raise race to a national issue - in hopes, I suspect, of helping their preffered presidential candidate. Sure there are individual racists in the US, but that country has devoted huge amounts of time and resources to leveling the playing field. Race is not an issue so much as the failure of the underclass of all races to bear down and pursue the opportunities that exist in that country.

They have committed a wrong against an individual to advance their wicked narrative. Zimmerman should sue their pants off.

They have committed a wrong against their shareholders, their viewers and the news profession. They should be abandonded and left to rot by all of these interested parties.

"...US, but that country has devoted huge amounts of time and resources to leveling the playing field."

I'm not exactly sure what that is supposed to mean, but whatever "leveling the playing field" means, it's not working out very well for them.

Posted by: Knight 99 at April 4, 2012 10:20 AM

during the meanwhile about 500 other black men were murdered in the month that has gone by , about 90% are by other blacks. no outrage ?

level playing feild , one on one's ?

Posted by: cal2 at April 4, 2012 10:28 AM

Shawn, yes you forgot Obama.

This is nothing new from the enemedia. Think about what images the word "McCarthyism" invokes. A mean SOB who callously and without basis charged people with being commies right?

Yet, as the Venona transcripts prove, McCarthy did no such thing. He in fact was proven quite correct but his name is still used as a perjorative. Why? Because the media lies. They have been progressive agenda driven hacks going at least as far back as the NY times Durante speaking about the wonders of Stalin's Russia.

The enemedia should be treated as such.

Posted by: Markon at April 4, 2012 11:04 AM

Did any member of the Media Party get fired over this? Doesn't sound like it. Undoubtedly these same corrupt, unprofessional nitwits will be up for awards for "fighting for social justice".

Nothing would please me more than to see Zimmerman sue the individual members of NBC who were involved in this hit piece.

Posted by: Robert W. (Vancouver) at April 4, 2012 11:23 AM

"Levelling the playing field" is the way those with Victim Mentality Syndrome (VMS) say "give me my effing way!!!!!"

Robert W. (Vancouver) >

Every individual person, city, county, fire department, police service and so on who suffers damage due to the violence created in the name of Trayvon needs to sue NBC, the Democratic Party, Obamba, Al Sharpton et al.

Posted by: Knight 99 at April 4, 2012 11:59 AM

The excision of the 911 operator's question changes the meaning of the exchange in two ways. First, and obviously, "This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black" presents the reference to the guy's race as an issue that Zimmerman introduced into the conversation.

Second, because the omitted question introduces the guy's race as a topic, it changes the character of the information that Zimmerman provides: Zimmerman isn't sharing his conclusion that the guy is black, he's indicating that he isn't completely confident that the guy is in fact black.

Not the kind of thing you'd do to a quotation in the absence of malice.

A registered Democrat Hispanic gets thrown under the bus because in the hierarchy of identity politics, Blacks take second place to no-one except perhaps Muslims. This is Obama's world. GE's useful idiots in NBC all understand how the game is structured. They just got caught. The only difference between NBC's liars and Obama is that his melanin levels, in conjunction with his statist bona fides are sufficient for full MSM exemption, always.

Posted by: John Chittick at April 4, 2012 12:48 PM

and they shot one of their own, a registered demoCRAP

Kate, could you just stick to putting up news stories that the LMS publishes accurately, that way I can come in here about once a week and read the whole thing in 5 minutes

Posted by: NME666 at April 4, 2012 12:56 PM

remember all the argle-bargle about zimmerman being unscathed in a cellblock video?

fox news is reporting that abc (not nbc) has hired a forensic video firm who have
revealed a gash on the back of zimmerman's head... backing up his account
of having his head pounded into the asphalt by poor, defenseless trayvon.

just another story you won't see on cbc.

Posted by: neo at April 4, 2012 1:21 PM

"Zimmerman may be a tough person for a news network to apologize to, but that’s just the point: Apologies are hard."

No, that's not the point, the point is why you think "Zimmerman may be a tough person for a news network to apologize to".

Posted by: richfisher at April 4, 2012 1:38 PM

And because the last version is time stamped with the original date, some people are saying it was the original and the un-time stamped version that was fuzzy was deliberately fuzzed to hide wounds.

Posted by: Scar at April 4, 2012 1:39 PM

Wasn't it this network that set the original standard for creating "news" by blowing up the gas tanks in '70's Chevy pickups to "show" how dangerous they were?

This incident continues the tradition.

Lying sacks of sh**.

A lawyer will be useless to Zimmerman. If he is ever arrested he will have the fight of his life on his hands as soon as he enters lockup.

Posted by: james at April 4, 2012 2:34 PM

The walkback is amazing. Now they are pulling back on the epithet comment. Poor Soledad listened to the tapes 500 times yesterday (apparently) and looks like she is slowly coming to the coclusion that maybe Zimmerman isnt the KKK memeber she asumed he was.

Likley was either just breathing heavy, or he was saying effing cold, not coon.

Maybe she is deciding that the 1/3 of her that is irish and 1/3 of her that is Latino is now more important than the 1/3 of her that is black.

Identity politics is so confusing for someone trying to identify with their multiple personalities

Posted by: stephen at April 5, 2012 6:52 AM

Remember, these are the same folks who: accused the wrong guy in the Atlanta Olympics bombing, used a model rocket igniter to blow up a chevy truck to show how "unsafe" the fuel tanks were....class act all around.
