Apparently it's all about orientation in California.. via Drudge:

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2012/03/09/incoming-uc-students-may-be-asked-to-declare-their-sexual-orientation/

"The next influx of UC students may be asked to state their sexual orientation.

In January, the Academic Senate recommended that upon accepting admission offers from a University of California school students should have the option of identifying themselves as lesbian, gay, bi-sexual or transgender."
...
"Supporters say the declaration will help campuses better plan for the needs of LGBT students."

Posted by: marc in calgary at March 12, 2012 7:11 AM

Because there have been so many letters added to the LGBT.... it's becoming a meaningless catch-all that can apply to just about anyone.

I know a few people who have checked that box in an attempt to increase their employment chances. They can't say for sure that it worked, but they also had no problems securing employment. If ever asked they plan to say they are bi. That way they can still live their hetero life without any questions from HR. As one friend put it (edited for language...), "what, are they going to ask me to demo it right it in the interview room?"

What do they do when everyone claims to be bi-sexual?

Does this mean someday I will have to show up for a job interview as a drag-queen?

Posted by: dwright at March 12, 2012 8:50 AM

Once upon a time in a land not so far away (that USED to be the US and Canada) it was against the law to ask someone their sexual orientation.

But government is not intrusive at all, it works for you and the common good of all of it's people.

They could elect judges. For senior judges they could be appointed from judges serving at least 2 terms meaning they have been re-elected, presumably based on a satisfactory record.

The stupidity is that you can simply lie and be extremely indignant and threatening if questioned. You might very well be queer and never have acted on it, a prisoner of a hostile society.

I knew someone who was not noticeably black but whose father was black saying he ticked every box as black with absolutely no apology whatsoever. Reminds me of the discrimination drone from some Eastern Canadian natives who are whiter than me.

Vaguely remember that the RCMP developed a 'Fruit Machine' back in the sixties to identify homosexuals - perhaps it should be dusted off just in case people are tempted to answer dishonestly...

This is just great, the quicker these dopes hit rock bottom the better. The end result of too much drugging in the 60's and 70's, what idiots, must run that state.

I love this.

Leftists digging into people bedrooms, violating peoples privacy, so typical. but hey, it's for a Good Cause (tm) so it's alright.

And now you know why I answer all marketing info/census data randomly/wrongly.

Did you know I was a 95 year old Asian woman who speaks Finnish, drives a motorcycle, and has been married 5 times?

It is the granola state (fruits, nuts, and flakes). What did you expect?

Anytime a weird or strange report or incident comes up, 95% of the time the story will originate in California, or refer to California in some way.

I wouldn't want to be indentified as a gay judge in California and then relocate to Saudi Arabia or iran on a diplomatic post....

Posted by: RL at March 12, 2012 9:41 AM

"There's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation." PT.

Unless of course WE the State are doing it for the better good... and we, the State, get to decide what's good.

Posted by: Red Jeff at March 12, 2012 9:46 AM

My only thought here is that this will make it very easy for any government that doesn't like gays to know who to pick up. Lists never die.

So all our good Lefty troll friends, do you think the sun is -never- going to set on Liberalism? Do you think the government of the day is -never- going to put The Church Lady in charge of the Who's Gay list? The CPC goose-steppers beat the loving and tolerant Natural Governing Party here in Kanada, People's Republic Of, couldn't [gasp!] REPUBLICANS steal an election in Amerika? No? Never happen?

They used to think that in Germany too. It was called the Wiemar Republic. Made lists of everything. The new guys found those lists... handy.

Illiterate imbeciles who haven't read history, or even had it read to them, are bound to repeat it.

But I never heard of gay law.

Until now.

So many good comments above. This is disgusting, as I also thought the state, according to Turdeau, had no business in the bedroom. Apparently unless they have an interest in pushing an agenda.

I'm sure Canada's HRC will get right on this.

The next you know they will be asking what race and nationality heritage a person is.

Texas "It is the granola state (fruits, nuts, and flakes). What did you expect?" Exactly!

Next thing you know they will be demanding recognition as a distinct society complete with gender police and all street signs in the color pink.Quotas will be developed for all government departments and"alternate lifestyle"courses will be mandatory in all state run schools.Every 15-20 years they will hold a referendum on whether to secede from the rest of the country, or just settle for more money to pay for their extravagant social programs. Why does this all sound so familiar???

One good thing is it will provide good reason for defense lawyers to claim wrongful conviction on the grounds that the judge was prejudiced.

LOL. The Psychiatrists episode in Fawlty Towers in which the man shrink attempts to find out how often the Fawlty's get away for a holiday (from the top of my head with abbreviated dialogue):

"How often do you manage it"
"Normal"
"What's normal?".
"I don't know, why don't you tell me, you're the psychiatrist".
"Once a year, twice a year ...? ... my wife [also a shrink] can't see how you manage it at all".

"Around 3 times a week since you ask".

Never mind their massive debt, their obliterated housing markets, their business-strangling red tape, their economy-crushing environmental laws...

The real problem with California is that their judges just aren't gay enough.

Posted by: rabbit at March 12, 2012 4:59 PM

The Grey Lady said: "You don't have to reach to nazi germany as a cautionary tale."

True. The Americans did lock up a bunch of Japanese in 1942... until the Supreme Court decided it was unconstitutional on December 18, 1944. After which They were all let go home.

Kinda different than Germany eh?

Different than Canada too, we kept ours until May 1946. Which while even shabbier than the Americans, and while it was ended by military victory instead of a moral decision by our highest court... is still different than Germany.

Moral equivalence isn't.

However, all three examples are good illustrations of why letting governments keep lists is a bad idea.

But really, why go back to WWII? Just look at all the people who had their firearms taken by the Liberals and PCs in the 1990's.

But there they all are, liberals every one, sticking their heads in the noose. Genius.

Posted by: The Phantom at March 12, 2012 6:01 PM

I am sure that the Japenese that were let go after a year or two were thrilled and very grateful to the supreme court for being set free. With no monies and their assets already taken and liquidated and the no go zones and all.

Yes , that was a travesty that came with a war mentality. The media at the time never questioned the govt. status quo and radio stations played along with whatever the patriotic subject of the time was. War is hell and hindsight is 20/20.

Posted by: peterj at March 12, 2012 9:41 PM

You should remember, peterj, that by doing so the Media were supporting their idol Giuseppe Stalino...

The Grey Lady said: "With no monies and their assets already taken and liquidated and the no go zones and all."

Sure, not all beer and skittles for them... but not suffering from terminal cases of deadness either. Screwed over and alive to complain about it 70 years later.

Moral equivalence ain't.

Besides, Barry said he was sorry for nuking Japan, so its all good now.

That's why I'm for -smaller- government with less money to make and keep lists. Particularly now when somebody with the right connections can data-mine your credit cards and figure out if your daughter is pregnant before she even knows herself. No real need to ask, they can go find out if they really want to know.

That's not good. Keep your eye on the ball, ducky.

I like that. Why not Italian? Most people think he was Russian when he was actually Georgian and hitler was actually Austrian not german. Go back far enough and they were probably both Italian.

Posted by: peterj at March 13, 2012 12:41 AM

The left is obsessed with sex & race. Things which normal people don't think about all day because they work, or don't have sexual problems. Even as a kid I never seen anyone give much thought to skin color or race. The left thinks of nothing else, than wants to categorize people like animals. For their own good of course. For the Children. Its why people should stop filling census. We know from history what the race minded do with them.

Posted by: Revnant Dream at March 13, 2012 4:14 PM

Peter, we've been through this before. "Austrian not German" is nonsense. Austria is a German national state; if you're not German, you have no business in Austria, as any immigrant in Austria will have explained to him at length by the locals. Hitler was "Austrian German", or "Austrian, not Reich German"; but to say he was "not German" is dead wrong.

And yes, you've proved in the past that you're a foul-mouthed little shitkicker, but do us all a favour and reply politely or not at all.

Don't know what you are talking about, but love you too.I vaguely remember your argument that Austria was part of Germany but thought you would do a little research. After sending you four or five links showing you were wrong you stopped responding. Foul mouthed little shitkicker ? You lost me there. To begin with I'm not little and never foul mouthed. By the way , Hitler went to Germany to join the Army because the Austrian army turned him down. A little research into his early life would have told you that, but you are not much on research are you? Austria started WW1 not Germany, although Germany gave full support.Germany swallowed up Austria at beginning of WW2 and Austria became fully independant again in 1953. Bad dog, bet you always skipped your homework. Send me even one link to prove me wrong. Also one post where I have been foul mouthed.

Learn to read, shithead. I said Austria is a German national state. It's not part of Germany because it isn't allowed to be. The victorious powers after each of the world wars recognized Austrian sovereignty on the express condition that it would not join Germany.

Austria didn't exist in 1914 and so pretty clearly did not start World War I. Austria proclaimed its independence in the autumn of 1918, in the process declaring itself a German national state and petitioning to be accepted into Germany. It took 20 years until Hitler took them up on it.

You may have noticed that Hitler took national identity rather seriously. He added Austria to Germany, rather than setting up the kind of semi-colonial government over it that all his other conquests got, for the excellent reason that the Austrians were German and belonged in Germany.

Why don't you pull your head out of your ass and try and understand what I'm telling you, rather than post more of your dumbass crap?

Posted by: ebt at March 14, 2012 6:27 PM

Sorry ebt. If you can't follow a few simple links or do some very simple research then this is a waste of time. Enjoy history as you see it.

Posted by: peterj at March 14, 2012 11:19 PM

It's certainly a waste of time for you to talk shit like you do. But people read this stuff, and somebody who is in no position to know any better is going to read some of your crap and take it seriously. It's not a waste of time to help them out.

Do you genuinely believe that Germany is a totally wide-open, multicultural, inclusive place where any foreigner can step off the train and assume leadership of the country? That it was such in 1933? Do you actually imagine the Nazis to have been such a friendly bunch that they'd follow a foreigner? Can you actually believe that anyone other than a German would be acceptable as the leader of a German nationalist party, like, say, the German National Socialist Workers' Party? There must be some level at which you know you're talking shit.

I don't know why you imagine that I need to read the links you post, since none of them so much as contradicts me, let alone refutes me. You clearly haven't read the damned things yourself or you wouldn't be talking shit like this.

"Hitler was not German". Jesus, what a stupid shitkicker.
