Posted by: chip at February 2, 2012 7:06 PMBecause, you know, students have never been known to get drunk.
I used to eat pizza out of garbage bins when I was a starving student, and yet I still managed to find beer money on occasion. And yes, I receive not only student loans, but grants. And now, I pay a poopload in taxes, so guess what? It was a good investment by the government, EVEN if I blew some of my dough on beer.
Relax and remember, you're a bunch of rightwing freakazoids, so whatever it is you're mad at, is probably something you are over reacting too.

Posted by: syncrodox at February 2, 2012 7:18 PMJohn,
So you did take loans and clearly got an education, good for you. I did the same.
Students today can do the same thing as you and I did. Or do what a number of my friends did, and one family member, take a year off and work at some job and save your money to pay for school. Or take a job while at school, or dont they do that anymore. I worked while at University part time as a bank teller. Or is that too demeaning today?
Yes education is a great investment. But your missing the point if you see someone saying that the subsidies must get ever larger for them while the student is apparently not making a sacrifice or exhausting all reasonable alternatives.
As for the societal benefit...well heck why doesnt the government say that all iPads sold in Canada must be bought from me. I would make tons of money and pay lots of taxes, ignore the personal benefit to me its immaterial.
Surprised this has to be explained to you. You sure you went to university?

LOL – and obviously unbeknown to you some starving people actually not only put their found beer money into real food, they later in life pay even bigger “pooploads” of money to the government to help support those not intelligent enough to feed themselves properly.
Do they realize that they listed funding to student societies twice in their platform?
Do they also realize that Quebec's participation rate in University is 2nd lowest in Canada despite having the lowest tuition fees in the country?
http://www4.hrsdc.gc.ca/.3ndic.1t.4r@-eng.jsp?iid=56
Perhaps they should be made to understand that all they have to do is graduate and stay in the province and they get refunded up to $20,000 of their tuition over 7 years (more if they are nurses or doctors).
Perhaps all of these self-described "intelligent" students should learn about the world before they try to change it.

Just because someone has been lucky (or smart) enough to own a car and feed themselves well, does not mean they are not worthy of loans and subsidies especially when they're working towards helping all students on campus. If you had to eat out of the garbage and couldn't afford to drink occasionally in a social environment, clearly means you SUCK at money management. The girl you are criticizing does more work in a week trying to make school a better place to be, than you probably do in a year. She is entitled to a personal life outside of work, and if you have nothing better to do than make jokes about her, get a part time job and stop whining about how unfair your life is. Or better yet, why don't you volunteer and help with the workload if you are so unhappy with the way things are. Get a life, and quit judging those who actually give a shit enough to try, regardless of how they spend their off time. The funds being requested aren't going into her pocket alone, they are for a better learning environment.

"Not a big deal. So deal with it."
It's being dealt with. Real Adults are waking up to the ignored problem of the entitled youth of our nations and finally getting sick of supporting other people’s spoilt brats.
The money will dry up eventually; you’re not helping anyone prepare for a future of independence. If you really selflessly cared, you would do your best to insure young people have the proper tools for the future, a sense of real independence and responsibility.
Maybe someone with the benefit of a university education can explain the difference between Increase funding to student groups and societies and Make more money available to student groups and societies. They both sound like "We're special and you owe us for being so darned special" but maybe there's some nuance I'm missing.

Posted by: a@c at February 2, 2012 9:10 PMOh Samantha, what a mess of hysteria here.
So let's take it from the top.
"If you think that our government is not raping our country of its resources and polluting our earth..."
Let's see now. Just by living in Canada and consuming the goods and services of a modern industrial economy, that makes you the rapist by enjoying its benefits. At least according to you.
So in this context, I think you'd better define what "rape" means. Otherwise you're just another five-and-dime cheap demagogue.
"Just look at a global map of pollution and waste."
What map would that be, honeybunch? Fact is, pollution, waterborne and airborne, has declined every year in North America since the mid 1970s.
"I bet your house drains more power in a month than a whole village outside of Canada does"
And so? Fact is, our doing without electricity doesn't give them electricity unless you somehow magically transport it there. Doesn't it occur to you as just a bit odd that practically everyone in the Third World wants to live a North American living standard? Doesn't it occur to you that it might be your thinking that might be seriously off the meter rather than about 3-4 billion other people? What do you know that 4 billion others don't? Little hint, it's called serious delusions.
"you probably throw away more food than they get the chance to eat too."
Ah me, you really don't get it do you? Our doing without or wasting food in no way helps those who don't have enough. What hasn't occurred to you evidently is that by getting the technology and development we have, they won't be starving all the time either.
And just to compound your delusions, Africa grows a large surplus of food. The problem is not a shortage of food. The problem is insufficiency of capital and industry to distribute it effectively. A far larger portion of their total harvest goes to waste than does ours.
"And I am no one's sock puppet,"
Sorry, but that's exactly what you are. Trotting out the same tired lines that have been used repetitively by useless ENGOs for the past 40 years. You understand nothing about the environment, economy, industry, development and poverty except what you've had indoctrinated by rote. And even more irrelevant today than it was then.
Be careful, Samantha.
On the internet, you don't know which old people you're talking to.
For example, they might be First Nations old people.
Which means they'd be elders.
Think about it.
Sammy, Sammy, Sammy...you miss the point entirely. I would suggest that most of the folks here are quite satisfied with their lives. What they do not appreciate is the entittlement mentality that your generation has bought into.
Many of us see where this is heading and actually fear for you poor, misguided fools.
Self reliance is something you kids seem to be totally unaware of and this will not serve you well in the long run.
As far as the snotty comments go...consider it an education in reality.
Posted by: syncrodox at February 2, 2012 9:20 PMThe reason I would say you are all sour is because as many of you have stated you are older, and some "old enough to be my grandfather" and you are trying to hurt the feelings of someone half or a third your age, simply for something to do on a Thursday night. I am only standing up for someone who does not deserve your criticism. There are many more people that deserve your time, as well as your bitching and moaning. If you hate Al Gore, why don't you tell him, like you seem to feel necessary with Paige K. You can hate me all you want, because really, I am doing nothing but antagonizing you on purpose. However, I am not looking for funding for myself as I don't need it but There ARE students that do. I have no demands to keep up with, but will always support someone I think is doing a good job instead of picking at the ones that I favor less. Constructive comments would help, but commenting on someones extracurricular activities doesn't exactly help anyone.

Posted by: spike 1 at February 2, 2012 9:36 PM"Cool.. when did our grandparents learn how to cyberbully?"
Well, isn't that the generational difference in a nutshell?
When your grandparents went to school, the bullies were real, and you had to actually face up to them and fight for your dignity.
Today, the bullies are virtual. They sit on their fat asses and type, and then wait for their so-called "victims" to log in for their little buzz of self-pity.
That's not "bullying". It's a symbiotic relationship.

No one’s trying to hurt anyone’s feelings. You injected yourself into the fray and simply assume that you can say your peace and the world will stop at your command. The best thing you can take away from the comments is that the world is not the lovely little Disneyland you wished it to be.
Take the hint from your “elders” the world is not what your isolated little environment pumps into your head, regardless of what they tell you. Your indoctrinated language is clear to us who know better and more than apparent in your less than mature (pleading) talking points tonight.

Posted by: kdl at February 2, 2012 10:01 PMI was president of our university ballroom dance club. We earned so much money from our classes, we had to invent ways to spend it so a bunch of frat boys wouldn't join and stage a hostile takeover. We also amended the constitution and by-laws with staggered elections and longevity eligibility requirements for officers to prevent takeover.
We were the largest registered student organization on campus, had the largest budget, and the university made money on the rent we paid for floorspace.
Lessons were $30 for eight weeks, and that included dues. We had an abundance of men, and at one point we started offering the classes free for women.
When these money grubbing clubs cry poverty, it's obvious that they have nothing of value to offer. They want subsidized activism.
Posted by: POWinCA at February 2, 2012 10:04 PMWhen I was a university student, I didn't have a car to leave at a bar, nor did I have a phone on which to Twitter.
This kid seems utterly entitled. As someone else said, if she can afford enough shots to get blotto -- and can make monthly payments on her phone and her car -- she hardly needs more government assistance which, maybe, she doesn't understand comes from our pockets.
What an inconsequential twit. And, she's a student leader running things at her uni and voting for the NDP? O.M.G.
As for the comments by samantha who thinks that those of us who are critical of paige "hate" her or those with whom we disagree, this seems to be the default of too many young people today: If you're not in total agreement with them and their views, if you make vociferously articulate arguments against their POV, you're accused of yelling at them or hating them. They're like ostriches; the minute they feel insecure because they've been challenged, they hide their heads in the sand and refuse to engage -- except for ad hominems or tears: "You're so mean. You're bullying me."
Suck it up. The default is, life's tough -- and it's even tougher when you're entitled, whiny, soft, and stupid.
Posted by: batb at February 2, 2012 10:14 PMNotice that she wants a reprieve of the locker tax, yet advocates for an increase in funding for student groups, as if funding should just materialize out of thin air. And here I thought it was tax AND spend that the foaming left-tards practiced. Oh, but NOT if THEY are the ones that are doing the paying. Hypocritical twit. Its always that way, isn't it, with these budding left-tards. Some do grow out of it, but it sure isn't a shock when the young of the species grow up and we find that they really haven't.
Here is an idea; you want more money for your student group? Hold a car wash or a bake sale or something. Stop being lazy and work for it yourselves.

What?

The divide in thinking between Samantha and others here is Paige Kezima is begging for other peoples money, and those people who earned that money have a right to push-back. I know who has the moral high-ground on this, because I am alone responsible for my success.
Posted by: Mr Cam at February 2, 2012 10:35 PMSamantha and David. Did you know SDA is usually frequented by grown ups ? Kazima has a long way to go, judging by the endless string of tweets about nothing at all. I think the 3 of you would be much happier over at rabble.ca where you can enjoy the mindless babble of your peers. When you grow up and move out of your parents basement and have to pay your own way, life will look different than it does now. It's called maturity, and no, as long as there is a delete button on your phone or computer, there's no such thing as cyber bullying in the grown ups world. When you get to the first word you don't like, just hit delete. You are welcome. Last but not least, we don't hate you , David or Paige. If being concerned about the environment makes you a nitwit, I am sure you will all be laughing when your children's children can't breathe the air or drink the water. There are plenty of jobs that don't involve ruining the world around us.

For the same reason that people have become addicted to cell phones. They no longer define themselves by who they are and what meaningful things they acomplish, but rather by how many people are in their social network. I suspect that very few have experienced a quiet waking moment when they weren't 'talking' with someone, anyone... They all seem to need continuous validation of their insignificant lives.

That old Leftist chestnut about overpolluted air and water again?
Sheesh!
Leftist chuckleheads were throwing that environmental scare-mongering around before that commie Lee Oswald blew Kennedy's brains out back in '63.
Got anything new to scare me with, that one's plumb worn out since my children's children have been drinkin' an breathin' just dandy for years already!
Ever heard of acid rain?
Used to be a problem back when Ronald Reagan was President.
The air and water is way better now than it was back in the '80s.
You young'uns had better find something better to do than 'Save the World'.
It's been saved a number of times already and the real threat facing us today is the pandemic of Leftist ideological retardation and the accompanying entitlement mentality sweeping today's youth.

I have never met a farm girl that was that naive or had time for the nonsense or the sense of entitlement spouted by Samantha. If she had a farming background she would have had a ingrained sense of responsibility and know the value of labor and the rewards derived from same.
Posted by: peterj at February 3, 2012 12:49 AMI paid my own way through college by working nights because my parents were supposedly too rich for me to qualify for a student loan and they wouldn't pay for it. For 3 days during the school week I worked overnight shifts and then 2 weekend days.
At the time I thought I was hard done by but now I know that they and the government did me a huge favour. A good friend of mine's parents paid for his post secondary education and he dropped out, smokes pot most of the day and works a minimum wage job. He's nearly 40 btw. Every day I worked that job in college I knew why I was doing what I was doing and that was to get out of that horrible job!
Posted by: James at February 3, 2012 12:51 AMThere are none so blind as those who will not see. Nothing got me more interested in going back to school than working the green chain at the local sawmill for a month. Social work is almost as good at teaching for insulating one from the real world. There will be those in both that have enough experience to try to honestly guide, but I suspect that they're in a very small minority.
Samantha, David and others: enjoy being a student while you can. Someday you'll have to grow up and pay your own way, it's great fun in the meantime and it will probably be remembered as the best time of your life (even if feeling broke predominates now). This too shall pass. When you have a little more experience to guide you, you'll be amazed at how smart your parents (and all those other old people you know) become.

"I have never met a farm girl that was that naive or had time for the nonsense.."
I don't know about that, things seem to have changed a little even on some farms, to be sure.
I've had some experience in the oilfield over the years with some pretty spoilt post secondary educated technicians and engineers that came off farms. The labourers ok fine, other than that it doesn’t make a difference, it’s a crapshoot and more often than not the same entitled attitude after a few years of the college/ university life. IMO.
@ James
Like most things that are free or take no effort, we place little value on them. The things we have to work our as*es off to obtain we take a certain amount of pride in.
Lesson lost on many entitled teens.
@ Knight 99
Guess I've been lucky. Live in Northern BC in the middle of Canola farms all of which is cris- crossed with gas pipelines. Great people and down to earth no nonsense kids. Guess that can change once they leave the farm but I think the basics stick to most of them. Can only hope. Either that or i've been damned lucky in my proximity to neighbors and friends.
I can't recall when in my lifetime - perhaps before - that a majority of people felt that "the government" could provide solutions to all of their problems, but this feeling must stop.
Regarding the economics of this situation: lobbying the government to increase subsidies will only result in increased tuition fees as schools will set their fees according to what they understand students themselves can afford.
Mathematically, if A = cost to students of tuition and B = government contributions to tuition, and C = tuition fees charged by the school, then A+B=C. Any increase in B will result in a corresponding increase in C. Similarly, if lobbyists successfully get "the government" to cap tuition fees, the # of schools or the total number of courses offered will decrease, as well as the quality as "the government" has now provided a disincentive.
If students REALLY wanted their tuition prices to drop, they would either build more schools (increase supply) or convince students not to attend (decrease demand)or both. Market forces will ALWAYS override government intervention.
Even now, schools know that demand is greater than supply, and thus the cost of tuition continues to rise. I, myself, am shocked that tuitions are so low, they are roughly a quarter of tuitions south of the border.
And for those dissenters, please explain how lobbying government (or protesting) is somehow a noble act. In the end it always involves forcing most citizens to unwillingly pay more to achieve your goals.

The only similarity is that the commenters think their way is the only right way and the people on the other side are evil and must be stopped.

Posted by: Revnant Dream at February 3, 2012 2:23 AMThe myth that a person has to go to university to be successful has created a demand for a university education that a lot of students don't have the knowledge to achieve. As a result the university business now offers a whole spectrum of 'soft' degrees which the average person without a firm grounding in math, science, language and history can attain. Unfortunately those 'soft' degrees don't give a person marketable skills for much more than "do-you-want-fries-with-that" jobs.
A lot of university failures would be way more successful with no debt and a well paying job if they had chosen to go into the trades instead of being brainwashed into a university 'education'.

I had always hoped it was just a west coast thing. I've always dreamed of a university where it's actually possible to display conservative values, without being chastised by your peers and proffesors... Guess that won't happen anytime soon.
If it's any consolation to Sda readers, (this is my first time commenting, but I'm an avid reader... I choose not to comment as I rarely have anything useful to add) the intelligent and hardworking students that I know barely ever pay any attention to who's running for student election and I've never known any of them to vote in one either. Not to say that this is a good practice, as it leads to us being represented by idiots like this. It has more to do with us just focusing on or classes and grades so that we can get the hell out of there as fast as we can and start making some MONEY! I find that the students who run for election are usually in the arts, end up taking 6 years to graduate, and figure that it's easier to put some BS student council position on their resume... rather than work or intern through the summer. Anyways... That's my two cents. I shared them with you instead of donating them to a needy student organization.

Posted by: Bandy at February 3, 2012 3:29 AMThe first thing I noticed was the tweet was sent from a Blackberry - I can't afford a Blackberry and a student can? Back in my university days the most important non-study activity was partying. I cycled everywhere in those days and never got my drivers license until after I'd finished university. My stint in student government was to ensure that the compulsory student dues we paid were spent on free booze for science students; some moron before me had used to money to bring in Dr. Fruitfly to speak and he was as much of an idiot in 1973 as he is now.
We would sell beer for $0.25/bottle at TGIF's and still make a profit. Bars were just too expensive for students as some charged as much as $1/beer! Tuition was about $700/year which I made working at part-time jobs during the year, tree planting and being a teaching assistant. Most of the people I hung out with were in engineering or science and we had little use for arts types who were primarily looking for jobs in government. The arts students also seemed to be most upset about "exploitation" of students by high tuition fees and felt the most entitled. Rather strange as they would turn out to be the least productive members of society, and given their aspiration to government work, they turned out to be a drain on society.
I'm very glad that the internet didn't exist when I was a student as I can imagine some of the photos or drunken rants that would have permanently been in some archive if we had cell phone cameras. Just the thing one needs when a future employer googles a potential employees name. Not a problem if one is intending to be self-employed, but those going into non-science programs are almost universally employees of some type.
So I don't give a rats ass if someone goes out and gets drunk. I do care if the same person is demanding handouts and has such a sense of entitlement. I worked hard for my tuition money and beer money. The hardest decision I had to make was to take out some student loans to finish my medical degree as I hated the idea of being in debt but could no longer work part time to pay for things in my final year of med school as getting a few hours of sleep/night or working was the decision I had to make.
Many young people have a desire to change society but, in retrospect, most of the changes in government made by people of my generation have been uniformly negative. The environmental regulations brought about by brainless idealists are likely to bring about the death of modern civilization. We didn't think much about stuff like that as we were too busy studying, partying and making things in my student days. We never foresaw that the useless arts types would be the architects of a statist regime that rivaled any totalitarian communist state in existence in the 1970's. I guess that was their revenge for us making fun of them and screwing their women.
The education bubble has inflated tuition fees and taking out student loans to take a degree in a course of study that results in making minimum wage is the height of idiocy. Of course, math was never a strong point among those attracted to arts programs. Far better to learn a trade and do something useful than to whine about how the world owes them a living.
Wow, it looks like folks here really piled on Samantha last night and I don't mean in a CBC pron kind of way.
Gee Loki, I remember two-bit beer in the purple Engineering Student's lounge on my first try at U. Partied too much and had to go get a real job. didn't biatch about govm't not giving me money. Second time around after growing up and maturing was better. The school of life can teach you a few things.
Samantha, and yet Canada's air and water quality have done nothing but improve for the last forty years. What, exactly, is going to happen in the next few years to change all that?
Posted by: AtlanticJim at February 3, 2012 6:24 AMWow. It seems like there are a lot of people with a lot of time on their hands here... We wouldn't want to make hypocrites of ourselves by using the internet as a forum for expressing our experiences and opinions as a criticizism of someone else for posting theirs. You may not have been 'tweeting' or posting online 5, 10, 25, or 50 years ago - but what you are doing right now is basically the same thing. Maybe we should all get off the internet, and get back to our hard working, conservative, frugal, and non-whiney lives. Since we are all such model human beings. And if you're tired at the end of the day, shame on you for having a drink to relax a bit - you might have a bill, loan, line of credit to pay with that valuable hard earned cash of yours.

You'd lose money on that one, Pete. Lots of vacuous princesses coming off farms these days...

I think purple is an Engineering thing, like the finely engineered canon (I wonder if that got registered?), the Lady Godiva ride and mysterious objects on campus removed or moved in the night. Oh, and the nursing mixers. Little wonder I didn't make first year.
Posted by: Texas Canuck at February 3, 2012 7:52 AMEntitled twit.
I have seen way too many students whining about no money. I live in a university town, they sure fill a lot off bars on the weekend. Wish I could afford to drink every weekend.
Nevermind being able to afford a blackberry. How much do you want to bet mommy and daddy paid for it. Think they do her laundry for her also?
TC: "Wow, it looks like folks here really piled on Samantha last night and I don't mean in a CBC pron kind of way."
She just has to chalk it up to a learning experience, TC. SDA is where the big kids play, and things get a little rough if 1. she doesn't know what she's talking about and 2. she didn't at least skim through the place and its posters to understand what goes on here.
Lamentably for her, she didn't appreciate the fact that SDA is a place where lefties get turned into roadkill.
It's a valuable learning experience for her. If it's this tough here, she'll be that much better prepared for the real world.
The moral of the story: do your research and understand what you're getting into.

Don't feel "terrible" for me buddy, and please stop talking about some fictional "gay and lesbian *community*" where we're all supposed to think the same and act the same. If you've "never been a part of" it, then why don't you keep your mouth shut and speak for yourself.

I am not too sure about that peter, as in 1973 I walked into a farm home and on the kitchen window sill was a little hammer and sickle flag. Note also the rabid CWB supporters.
Bandy, good for you. One of my graduate sons-in-law would agree with you. He learned real quick to keep his mouth shut during his first year in education.
Loki, well said, especially your second last paragraph.

"Just look at a global map of pollution and waste. I bet your house drains more power in a month than a whole village outside of Canada does, and you probably throw away more food than they get the chance to eat too. But that is besides the point."
That just depends on which "scientist" drew the map.
It just happens a college acquaintance is an astronaut, and flew in the Shuttle. The report was with clear weather you could not see the ground over Asia....but Canada and the USA were easily visible.
A buddy who drives 747's remarks on the semipermanent "brown cloud" over the orient. He says VFR is a seldom experienced condition. He says it is good Singapore and Hong Kong have new airports with longer runways....otherwise most days they would be no go zones.
BTW My energy consumption has been 8kw/day for months...down from 9-10 last year.
I heat with wood. The electric water heater is shut off over winter.....the wood stove heats water briskly.
LOL, the Entitled One is getting very defensive! And just a few tweets in, is already accusing her critics of racism. (This right after calling one of them "white boy".)
The tragedy isn't that she's paying high tuition fees. It's that she's at university at all. Any bets on what her major is? Feminism & Transgender Studies? Sociology with a minor in Activism? Basket Weaving for Womyn??
Posted by: Ellie in T.O. at February 3, 2012 10:30 AMOK, I made myself read through her CV and I see she's majoring in social work. Duh. I shoulda known: I never yet heard of a social worker who wasn't effectively brain-dead. Most need help more than their "clients" do.
By the way, if her car isn't fully electric she is a foul, polluting, RAPIST OF MOTHER EARTH!! And that Blackberry of hers better be home-made out of bamboo, and not the eeeeviiill, logoed, corporate-designed product of capitalism. Boo!!
Posted by: Ellie in T.O. at February 3, 2012 11:07 AMMs. Kezima's name is so unique that I have good reason to believe that this old posting is from her. Neat that she grew up on a farm but one wonders how many participation trophies her parents gave her growing up?!

You still seem to be missing the point of the thread.
It's not about some 21 something going out and having a good time. It's also not about the personal life of one particular person, or a left wing verses right wing difference of opinion - {we are all the same but see things differently}.
This is about the problem our society faces in the future. The older so called right wing people can clearly see that an entire generation is being brought up as entitled brats, who think that the world owes them something for nothing. They want to live “fun” lifestyles on other people’s money and view the world as their personal playgrounds and piggy banks. They quote Mao and Che as personal hero’s, call for globalization, and carbon tax’s, all the while they sit in pampered surrounding getting degrees in uselessness expecting a “hand up”.
Who pays for it all? We do. How many years do you really think that this sort of one way economic street will run before it goes off a cliff?
The saddest part is that when it does run out, it’s all of you or they that will be standing there with nothing for the first time in your lives, blaming everyone else for your misery and loss.
The Kezima girls posting simply highlights the absurdity of many young minds today. Calling for reduced personal taxes and soliciting money for personal interests, yet to the greater world, its tax the “rich” whatever that means and then go party. She promotes the NDP and trashes Harper, even threatening to “punch him in the face” if she ever see’s him. This is coming from someone who has no clue about real politics much less the real world, who the NDP are and what they’ve done in the past.
Yet it’s not about her, it’s about a generation turned in the wrong direction, with fairytale dreams fed to them by idealistic goons with an ultimate agenda to enrich themselves. They in turn are the slave army of entitled brats pushing these agendas through with the power of their youth. Which in turn comes from the love and support of their elders who take the time to give a shit and hope that they eventually carry the line of hard work and common sense that brought our society the ability have to these choices in the first place.
Robert, Ellie and Black Mamba, it is all starting to make sense now. What we have here is an Marxist entitlement NDP activist.

Dear health care system: I'm tired of obsessively self-diagnosing myself, it is the opposite of good for someone w/anxiety. GET ME A DOCTOR!

Paige, somebody once said "noone needs to be a doctor". Try and figure out why I bring it up.
I'm giving the candidates pot brownies and coffee with baileys for the Stoon debate. That should liven it up. #ndpldr #ndpdb8
Actually, from a quick scan, she talks about booze and pot quite a lot. I don't mention this to be puritanical; as a drunk, I don't feel I'm standing on any particular moral high ground vis a vis sobriety, and anyway I don't give a damn what people ingest. It's just that it's very childish. We used to joke around like that in highschool. I doubt we would have tweeted it, though, if we'd had twitter, 'cause we would have known how lame it sounded.
And she thinks Newt should drop out 'cause he's called NEWT, OMG. This from a chick whose parents apparently saw stripping in her future and named her accordingly.

Still a total of 11 down to earth unentitled kids but I did see one of them drinking Perrier water. Hmmmm.
@ Danit. You may be the older, wiser and prettier but are also the far more logical as the Gore/Suzuki nonsense did not rub off on you. You support your sister and so you should.
The last line on your post indicates you would not be welcome at rabble.ca and are far better suited to SDA.

To all my new trolls: If you need to personally attack a 21 yr old female activist to get your rocks off, it shows you're the real problem.
Are women delicate flowers, Paige? Are we the weaker sex (sorry, gender)? Are we off limits? And if your age and sex (sory, gender) mean you should be protected from criticism, doesn't it also seem fair that the world should be protected from your hothouse opinions?
Posted by: Black Mamba at February 3, 2012 3:43 PMConnected with all of this is this podcast from John Gormley's show. Listen to the female student about 2 minutes in and tell me precisely what is the difference between her talking points and those of a Far, Far Left NDP zealot. I can't detect a single deviation from the NDP party line. It's sad that we're graduating so-called "educated" people who advocate such nonsense.

“I used to hate middle class people with big homes, but loved Al Gore’s largest mansion and David Suzuki’s private Island home, not so much his others in the city”.
“I used to hate the Canadian Capitalist tar sands and their bogus reclamation projects but loved the Communist Chinese coal burning plants and their sweatshops which made my blackberry”
Posted by: Knight 99 at February 3, 2012 4:16 PMWhat's amazing to me is this is the first internet generation without a clue about how to use it or the concept of discretion.
Not that these Marxists would ever appy for a job with an evil capitalist corporation, but they leave tracks of all the stupid things they do all over the web. And don't even think twice. Who would want to hire these people?
This entitlement culture thinks they are impervious to actual scrutiny. I suppose its because they are used to being told how special they are.
I believe the same governments that are in place now will probably be in place when someone attains their social work degree. In time potential employers, including government will use a c.v. as well as the internet as a suitable indication of skill, maturity and EQ to really see what they are hiring.
If these people are looking for a job when all they have been is outspoken in the rudest of ways (like a first pump to the PM), not even the government will hire them.
The entitlement junkies may be in for a rude and fiscally tight awakening. And it is well deserved.
