*Sigh* - the love hate relationship with Kate.

Exact same way I felt whenever SDA linked to one of my old blogs. SDA gets results!

Suck it up Cap'n

Remember,infatuation is always fleeting...LOL!

Posted by: old duffer at January 30, 2012 12:34 PM

Just imagine if you ran a left wing blog that was brought to everyone's attention. It would feel so good when the traffic (with derisive comments) stops.

Posted by: WalterF at January 30, 2012 12:38 PM

Yeah. Imagine how Warren feels.

Posted by: Black Mamba at January 30, 2012 12:55 PM

It's okay, Captain, I still visit you a couple of times a week.

Posted by: grok at January 30, 2012 1:25 PM

It's all about diversifycation and contributers Captain. Kate has something every day to p*ss off even the most cheerful right wing blogger. Unless it's really important she just throws it out there and lets the SDA wolves rip it apart. She is also humble and usually remains in the background observing the results.I like your blogsite but it is driven by your opinions. Kate's is driven by world events, both relevant and trivial and she often keeps her own opinions to herself. She just throws the toys in the sandbox and lets us play. See the difference ?

Posted by: peterj at January 30, 2012 1:34 PM

What peterj said.

Kate loves exposing the various hypocrisies and liars in the media and political world. Just like Sun News TV, Kate exposes the Conservatives when they deserve it.

Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at January 30, 2012 1:57 PM

yup well said peter j and ken kulak

hey ken i was going to add you as a freind on facebook is that o.k. ?

Posted by: paul in calgary at January 30, 2012 2:03 PM

Yup, what peterj said is right. Too many other forums are driven/censored by the owner's opinions.

Posted by: North of 60 at January 30, 2012 2:17 PM

now all i need to know is what website had the spike in traffic?

Posted by: FREE at January 30, 2012 2:18 PM

Maybe if you'd made the chart a link to your site, you could have generated a few hits. Am just sayin'.

Posted by: Lickmuffin at January 30, 2012 2:19 PM

Agreed, and I see the difference. But, admittedly, my little corner of the bloggosphere is primarily one of posterity and a historical record. Not to sound arroragnt (which I am), but I want to be able to say "I told you so."

Posted by: Cpt. Capitalism at January 30, 2012 2:51 PM

I'm a reader at your site Capt, thanks I enjoy your writing and economic/financial advice.

Don't take this the wrong way, but the black screen kills my eyes.
Keep up the good work.

Posted by: richfisher at January 30, 2012 3:37 PM

Yeah the black screen makes me shy away as well, having a headache from going to a website does that.

I have been going to Captain Capitalism for ages but this particular blog entry has not enough info!! SHEESH

Posted by: FREE at January 30, 2012 4:13 PM

I also have to agree about the black screen, I watch spots in front of my eyes for a few minutes after reading it. Not conducive to having folks stick around.

Posted by: kelly at January 30, 2012 4:25 PM

@ Free and others who are interested in a very good site, just click on the highlighted name on the Captains post:

Let me add my name to the chorus, Cap'n. White text on a black screen is annoying. And I don't rush back to sites that I find annoying. I'm pretty sure you can make the connection.

Posted by: KevinB at January 30, 2012 4:43 PM

I believe the chart the Captain is referring to is this thread :

Posted by: peterj at January 30, 2012 4:48 PM

peterj, "She just throws the toys in the sandbox and lets us play."

Yeah. And everyone is welcome, even the trolls if they don't crap in the sand.

Posted by: WalterF at January 30, 2012 5:40 PM

Your life doesn't suck Captain, your message is just getting a little old. Unfortunately one of the problems the New Age Man seems to have developed - is that he b*tches as much as the New Age Woman!

I do not approve of 'going Gault'; I expect viable options and alternatives from the New Age Man.

Just my two cents,as always - my advice is worth less than what you paid for it.

All I know is, some people got it and some don't. Like me! I don't. :)

Posted by: The Phantom at January 30, 2012 7:14 PM

Ahoy Cap'n,

Have visited your site and like it: keep up the good work.

Phantom - you got it. You just need to post more and maybe get a more usable commenting system. And pictures, because people like looking at shiney things. And the formating; it's all up-and-downy rather than side-to-sidey.(Please don't be mad at my constructive criticism, my cat bit me this morning for no good reason whatsoever and I'm feeling delicate emotionally.)

Posted by: Black Mamba at January 30, 2012 8:42 PM

Cats are good. Maintenance and expectations; low.

Posted by: nold at January 30, 2012 9:45 PM

I don't think Mr. Fluffy knows that he is supposed to be low maintenance.

Posted by: Black Mamba at January 30, 2012 9:53 PM

If anyone knows Dogs its Kate. She just throws a rubber ball than watches the action. (O:}

Posted by: Revnant Dream at January 31, 2012 2:17 AM

Its because of Global Warming

Posted by: Johnny Japan at January 31, 2012 9:44 AM

mamba, thanks for the kind words. Maybe I'll fiddle with Blogger alittle bit and fix the format when I get home. Somehow I don't think re-arranging the deck chairs is going to get HMCS Soapbox off the rocks though. ~:D

Posted by: The Phantom at January 31, 2012 12:11 PM

Phantom - when I first checked out SDA around three-four years ago, and then dared to comment, I remember hoping "maybe nobody will be really horrible to me if I manage to avoid saying something very stupid". You were the absolute top commenter by me (now, of course, I'm just used to you so I take you for granted); but seriously, top dog; big man; numero uno honcho; the head cheese*; or, um, "Noma Wan", as some of his followers used to call Mao. (You're cool with Mao, right?)

You got it. I'm serious. The problem is a)website design, b)frequency of commenting, c)website design and d)website design.

Oh, and website design.

I am baby sitting two 100 pound German Sheperds this week, plus my 110 pound German. I was trying to lite a cigarette while walking the young male lastnite and that sob jerked me slap off my feet and I busted my knees on the whiterock driveway. I feel your pain BM. Gona buy a spring loaded runner this evening and have a very stern talk with that boy.

Take care Capt. I still pop over to your site now and then.

Ignorant people like you scare me.... if we all thought like you we would be moving backwards in time, not moving forward. Your thoughts are offensive to all human kind and you should not be proud of all the things you say. I would be morbidly embarrassed if i were you. I heard about you in my university sociology class and i was taken back by how sheltered you are. You probably have never left your little box of comfort or met real people. Of course that is wrong of me to assume but i'm doing it any way because you do it all the time. Next time you say something maybe you should keep it to yourself because your thoughts are illegitimate. I am not a fan and I'm very unimpressed. Para quem não quer entender, explicar é apenas complicar so i guess i should just ignore the ignorant.
I hope you find peace because your just not there yet.

Posted by: vanessa at February 1, 2012 12:59 AM

Vanessa: "Your thoughts are offensive to all human kind..."
=======================
Are you for real, sweetie? You've actually interviewed every last man, woman and child on the face of the earth? Wow. I'm so impressed.

PS: I see sociology classes haven't changed much since I was young and stupid and lapping up what university profs thought they knew about the world while remaining locked in their ivory towers. Good luck in the job search when your done. I hear it's really tough out there for people with useless degrees. Mind you, you could always go camp out at one of those Occupy Whatever La La Land gatherings and demand the student loans you took out to get your useless degree be paid by someone else who actually has skills.

Posted by: Louise at February 1, 2012 2:15 AM

Now Louise, your thoughts are not only "offensive to all human kind", they are also "illegitimate", so don't argue with Vanessa, who knows a phrase in Portuguese and is taking a sociology class. I hear those are real tough. She clearly thinks SDA is, like, totally, omigawd, okay? So hang your head in shame, Louise. You don't know as much about the world as Vanessa does.

Posted by: Black Mamba at February 1, 2012 11:39 AM

Black Mamba at 11:39 AM: "So hang your head in shame, Louise. You don't know as much about the world as Vanessa does."
============
Well obviously. some 35+ years in the real world will erase all the high-falutin' lernin' you get in university, although most of it will be proven wrong in the first four or five years after graduating. I'm sure Vanessa will come to her senses after she's worked at the MacDonald's window where they take the cash from you for a year or two. Look for her, folks. And be sure to count your change. She might not be able to do that very well.

Posted by: Louise at February 1, 2012 12:00 PM

Maybe she's joking. It's hard to figure someone that dumb could work a computer. (And yet, sociology...)

Posted by: Black Mamba at February 1, 2012 12:07 PM

Who ,what ,when where and why ? Vanessa ? Anyone ? All human kind ? Damn, I feel like I'm missing something good here.

Posted by: peterj at February 1, 2012 1:14 PM

Vanessa, something tells me you're still checking this thread. Please visit this site. It will soothe your outraged nerves.
