Girl Guides has an identity issue to deal with. Scouts Canada has been fully co-ed and accepting of anyone so long as they have belief in a supreme being of some sort.

Guides has been a closed shop. Despite many men wanting to participate in the development of their children, it is forbidden. I think this is due to the belief that only men can be abusers. Another thought for this might be that men are not needed in the lives of women.

How would I know what they do - I'm not invited!

The idea of a man joining their organization in any way shakes them to their core.

In the end, I guess this goes to what is the defining characteristic of a being female.

I predict a lot of newly transgendered transchronologists (i.e. old men claiming to be young girls) will begin joining. "No, really, I'm a little girl trapped in an old man's body."

I'm sure the CBC would have no problem finding "credible" guests to talk about transgendered issues. Being fully staffed with every kind of subversive leftist special interest group that tax payer's money can buy they would only need to call up the guy in the dress who works in their mail room. And if they can't find a particular special interest group member who works in the building I'm sure they have all kinds of them on speed dial. If they changed the sign out front of the CBC building to read ONTARIO MENTAL HOSPITAL it would be hard for most people to tell the difference between the people who staff the CBC and the crazy people in a psych ward who spend their days talking to themselves while smearing their bodies with their own feces.

Gender politics and political correctness just has to infiltrate into every nook and cranny, doesn't it? Gaia forbid that children just concentrate on figuring out who they are without the assistance of neurotic progressives who impose their post-modern ideology on kids before puberty. For instance, many tomboys (like me), had no interest in girly things as a child but grew more feminine over time. How much of childhood tomboy or girly behavior is just a phase or the environment you are raised in and not a gender mismatch? Kids do not need to have these issues figured out by 10 and adults should just back off and let thing progress in their own manner.

On a lighter note, just imagine all of the new merit badges that could be created if 'trans-gendered' children were officially recognized and integrated into the Girl Guides. Although the more likely outcome is a drop in membership - not because of bigotry but because the organization has become a psuedo-political organization.

As an instructor, I teach at various Colleges and the female to male ratio of support staff and teachers is quite lob sided.

The males that are there on staff are either effeminate or radical/atheistic.

Universities on the other hand are the opposite. Heavy with males...males that live on a different planet.

The girl scouts have definitely become too political for my tastes. I would think that one of the big reasons parents put their daughters into programs like the former girl scouts is to teach them that not everything connected to femininity revolves around sex. That there are other female role models besides Lady Gaga and Snooki. Perhaps it is time conservative parents in Canada take a good look at American Heritage Girls, a program started by former girl scouts who wished to retain the Christian values of the original girl scout program.

I really don't think it is about man haters. The best mentor for someone of a particular sex is someone of that sex. How's the US black population getting along without males in the home? The prisons are full.

If you can't participate in the development of your daughter in the 406 hours per week she is not at guides, seek help.

Not to put too fine a point on it, Scar, but how many hours per week is this daughter at Guides? By my calculations, with 406 hours spent outside Guides/week, that leaves only around 32 hours/day at Guides (assuming she goes only once per week) meaning she can't be there for a full day each week...right?

The most disconcerting aspect of the Gender Spectrum curriculum and the doctrine behind transgenderism being taught from K -12 is that it is based on the research conducted by Kinsey and Freud who asserted that everyone is bisexual at least until puberty when bisexuality, for most, then becomes latent. It is also based on Lisa Diamonds research that states that human sexuality is fluid and exists on a continuum - in other words sexual orientation can and does change - except if your homsexual, if one goes from being homosexual to straight then straight was the true orientation; however, this does not hold true for lesbians who are more likely to be sexually fluid.

Sexual fluidity is the new paradigm that both the APA and many LGBTQ groups hold as the authoritative doctrine on human sexuality and is deemed as a healthy view of sexuality.

Children with inter-sexed conditions (ambiguous genitalia) or Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome, both rare conditions, need to be accommodated. Cross dressers are another matter altogether. How are the girl guide leaders supposed to determine whether a child is a cross dresser, transvestite, or transgendered? Parents word, psychological evaluation or both?
