Expect the Expected

Just over a week ago Anne Marie Waters, a Council Member of the National Secular Society, was scheduled to give a talk at Queen Mary University of London as a Co-Spokesperson on behalf of the anti-Shariah group One Law For All. You'll never guess what happened next:

Before (the talk) started, a man entered the lecture theatre, stood at the front with a camera and filmed the audience. He then said that he knew who everyone was, where they lived and if he heard anything negative about the Prophet, he would track them down. The man also filmed students in the foyer and threatened to murder them and their families. On leaving the building, he joined a large group of men, apparently there to support him.

Campus security to the rescue!

He said: 'If you have these discussions, what do you expect?'

Well, in any country anywhere in the world with a substantial Muslim population you can expect to be hung out to dry by politicians and law-enforcement officials. Would-be speaker Ann Marie Waters - who is courageous by virtue of even attempting to speak out against Islamist censorship and threats - seems just a half-step away from understanding that in the relativistic, equivocating West, front-line defenders of free speech are essentially on their own:

I am left wondering what exactly we could have done. I would love to say that we stood up to him and carried on bravely in a valiant defence of free speech, but it was a frightening experience and I know that people felt genuinely threatened and upset. In any case, is it the role of speakers and students to face off against potentially violent Islamists in defence of our free speech, risking our safety in the process?

In short, Yes. What do we have if we are not free?

The seeds that have been planted since the end of WW2 are now producing their fruit. Pretty ghastly fruit indeed. Not only that, the British
Government has disarmed their populace so that they are at the mercy of thugs. (London Riots as an example). When the Islamists start making their moves there will be nothing to stop them.

Great Britain, defender of the faith, yeah right.

Let's have a look at the other founder of One Law for All:

"I am very much on the Left and am Central Committee member of the Worker-communist Party of Iran."

When the Communists show up to protest the Islamists, you're supposed to pray for an asteroid, not pick a side.

I oftentimes read these stories, and wish I had no family.

I could then go terrorist/sharia law believer/nut case hunting.

Seriously, it will come to that, there is absolutely no doubt.

We can expect more of this. A lot more.

This could just as easily have happened in Toronto.

How would our brave media and academic elite react?

Predictably clueless is my guess.

Further to the Jason Kenney post yesterday.

The minister (was asked) to go a step further and introduce legislation similar to Quebec's Bill - 94 which essentially bars Muslim women from receiving or delivering public services while wearing a niqab.

Nothing to see here folks. It's just a glimpse of (imported) Satanic zombies assisting in the cultural suicide of Western civilization. They do it because we allow them to. Another generation and the UK will look more like Lebanon.

Um, YEAH. Duh. That's how civilization works. Jeeze.

Instead of being politically correct and letting the little snot film and threaten them, they should have beat the snot out of him and trashed his camera. He would have understood the message.

Posted by: peterj at January 25, 2012 1:26 AM

JDN poses a very important question as whether anyone there took a video of the guy and the group outside supporting him? That should have been done and with the evidence file a complaint with the police. He committed a criminal act and needs to be charged.

Take up the fight - NOW!!

I have 3 of my own and 4 grandkids. If they are not worth fighting for then my life is WORTHLESS!!

Which is all rather hilarious when one considers that Queen Mary was beheaded because she was Catholic....

H'mmm. Could it be that atheists are actually beginning to understand why their existence is tolerated in western society?

Lets see what the atheists are made of when they are lumped-in and targeted with the rest of us (Christian) infidels.

Not quite so fashionable now, is it?

Speaking for myself, I wouldn't have put up with such nonsense and would have taken out my camera and started filming him.

Why have we become a society of utter wimps.

Posted by: TJ at January 25, 2012 2:05 AM

from the article....

"Around 2,500 people, mostly Muslims, were killed in the neighbouring state of Gujarat in 2002 after a suspected Muslim mob burnt alive 59 Hindu activists and pilgrims inside a train."

Sounds reasonable to me....it may come to that....

TJ
"Speaking for myself, I wouldn't have put up with such nonsense and would have taken out my camera and started filming him."

Yup yup....and after you got out of hospital, God willing, you would have been charged and convicted of inciting a riot.....then the islamist rioters would successfully sue you....

Double standard ya know.........

Sasquatch,
peterj and TJ are correct.
In my day every man in that hall would have helped kick the snot out of that a$$hole and then gone out to see if his buddies outside wanted more of the same.
We have indeed become a society of wimps, and we'll get the treatment we deserve from idiots like this until we rediscover our backbones.

I'm with Johnny, Sasquatch, Peterj and TJ...
Someone should have jumped up and shouted, you're NOT getting out of here with that camera.
We have you in our sights right now, if I had been there he wouldn't have gotten out the door with his camera intact, all hell would have broke loose.!

The University’s security guard – a real gem –arrived first only to blame the speaker and organisers rather than those issuing death threats. He said: ‘If you will have these discussions, what do you expect?’

Britain. Stupid little country.

Peterj - I don't know about trashing the camera. I think using it as a suppository would make the point more effectively.

JDN writes, “Did anyone video the guy with the camera? And the group of men outside supporting him? Two can play at that game.”

In a reasonable, non-PC world, that would be true. But our “leaders” are altogether lily livered and spineless—and supine—when it comes to minorities: in Canada, especially aboriginals, and here and all over the world, Muslims. E.g., Toronto journalist, Dave Menzies was assaulted in a public place by a Muslim woman last summer. She also grabbed his camera and threw it to the ground. Menzies had witnesses, who were willing to support him, as well as further evidence on his own camera. A police officer was on the scene within a very short time. Despite the incontrovertible fact that an assault and a property offence had occurred—carried out by an angry Muslim woman (ironically, she didn’t like Menzies taking pictures of her and her family)—the officer basically said, “Nothing to see here. Move on.”

As we know, this dangerous, fantasy thinking and despicable dereliction of duty is happening EVERYWHERE. I believe Menzies has taken his case to court. Jason Kenney’s on the move. But it may be too little, too late . . .

"....would have taken out my camera and started filming him....."

Sorry TJ, I'd have taken out my fists and practiced a little "Crusading" on him. All these low lifes understand is strong horse/weak horse.

My method is more productive than a pissing match over who has a higher resolution video camera on their latest must-have android/ iPhone. What are you going to do, run with your phone to the nearest police officer and show him your "evidence"? This is London. Chances are YOU'D get charged with some trumped up "intollerence" or "hurt feelings toward an identified group of special immigrants" law.

At least they'd have a real reason to charge me! If you're gonna go down, go down swinging!

Think also of the market square scene in the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark". The crowd suddenly parts to reveal the robe clad bad guy swinging his mighty sword. Indy, tired of the big fist fight he had just endured, says to himeself, "#$% this crap", pulls out his pistol and sends the bad guy to meet his 72 virgins. No fuss, no muss. Indy finds the treaure, gets the girl and the world is rid of one more cockroach. Win-win, yes?

JDN had a good idea we can explore some more. Apparently, by our enemies' standards, we can now film their meetings and turn over evidence of threats to civic order to the authorities who will then be able to amuse us all with their gutlessness.

Ann Marie Waters: "Look at the pathetic response of the British Government at the time; "There is freedom of speech, we all respect that... But there is not any obligation to insult or to be gratuitously inflammatory... Even the UN said it would investigate whether the cartoonists were racists... The message is very clear – don't insult religion." (Empasis mine.)

But of course the message is really a good deal clearer than that, Ms. Waters, and you know it; don't insult Islam.

"What did you expect"

"is it the role of speakers and students to face off against potentially violent Islamists in defence of our free speech, risking our safety in the process?"

Same stupid question.

Which was answered by the goat humper with the camera and death threats before the debate even started.

I'd expect that the One Law For All people will overlook the answer and NOT be armed and ready to kick the life out of numerous Islamics next time they decide to explore anything slightly related.

I would bring a bat and knife now that the debating rules have been firmed up.

Posted by: richfisher at January 25, 2012 10:34 AM

What Daniel and Hans said

How true,

Its not a smirk on my face just bemusement, and the thought that turning up un-armed to a fight that has already been lost, with no intention of allying oneself with the bloodied, is so very very liberal.

See the "one law for all" responses to the counter jihad movement and the EDL, they are just another set of self entitled vain windbag fascists.

Everything is Spiritual!

The Atheists claim their is no God and demand that all references to the "sky god" should be erased from our society, as those things are what is holding we humans back from reaching our ultimate potential.

They are gaining ground by using government through the legal system, the education system and media to spread their "gospel",

They create a spiritual vacuum.

In rush those who are radicalized with a law based "religion" with a fervency and mob mentality to dominate and intimidate and fill that spiritual void with the breath of the dragon.

Then the atheists complain about it.

Convert or lose your head...that will be your choice.

You have lost your freedom! But you won't really understand and believe that until you are all running around with burkas and turbans. Or not.

Posted by: glacierman at January 25, 2012 11:40 AM

To see how balanced this arguament is, just turn it around. Christian student stomps into a Mosque, walks up front and starts filming all muslims, telling them he knows who they are and if he hears one dispariging word about Jesus he will kill them all.
Any guesses here as to what would happen ?

Posted by: peterj at January 25, 2012 12:57 PM

We have done it to ourselves. We have let minorities dominate the majority in the name of political correctness. We should be saying to people coming to our country, "You will abide by our laws or stay away." Muslims make no secret of the fact that all who do not believe as they do must die. Wake up and taste the coffee! It's laced with blood.

I'd of stomped on his foot, kicked him hard in the knee and then flat fisted him between the eyes, and then do the same thing again everytime one of those religious nuts threatened me. To stand there and let him threaten her, I don't think so.

Posted by: Rose at January 25, 2012 4:54 PM

What worries me is that someone would actually say:
"In any case, is it the role of speakers and students to face off against potentially violent Islamists in defence of our free speech, risking our safety in the process?"

Freedom and passivity are incompatible. Maintenance of freedom requires people to take an active role in ensuring that those who seek to limit their freedoms, especially that of free expression, will regret their attempts to do so. So, the failure of the group of students to stomp the islamist to a pulp before taking on his friends is a message to the islamofascists to be bolder in the future. Freedom is not for the cowardly.

Surprisingly not one of the students even filmed the guy making threats as, if physical direct action isn't ones thing, there is always the gathering of video evidence using the ubiquitous cell phone camera to get the islamofascist up on charges of uttering threats. There were ample grounds for a number of the students to act together to make a citizens arrest.

Still, I prefer the direct approach which I find results in thugs being less likely to repeat their actions. The one thing that my kick boxing instructor used to stress was making sure one knocked the other guy out so that the concussion would produce retrograde amnesia and make it impossible for him to provide any coherent testimony if you got charged with assault. In the case of islamofascists, a good shot to the head might reboot their wetware into a less offensive mode.

I used to work at QMUL and lived in the area. Walking to the office in the morning I'd see posters advertising talks about the reestablishment of the Caliphate as the solution to the world's problems. Or at least the Muslim world's problems. Probably the source of them for everyone else..

Strange place, actually. Muslim extremism meets Lefty silliness: they have a theatre named after Harold Pinter, for crying out loud.
