On the home page right now: "Is the potash industry in Saskatchewan expanding too rapidly?"
Posted by Kate at January 19, 2012 12:19 AMVoted. It's pretty close at the moment.
The next CTV poll question:
"Should we try to reduce the number of high-paying jobs in Saskatchewan?"
Posted by: EBD at January 19, 2012 12:53 AMVoted. @ 57% no as of this posting.
Posted by: peterj at January 19, 2012 1:30 AM58% now.
Posted by: Hunter at January 19, 2012 1:41 AMI love voting in these things. I can visualize the agony of the enviroretro's
Posted by: Revnant Dream at January 19, 2012 1:44 AMThe no-vote now 70%..good work!
Posted by: Sammy at January 19, 2012 6:31 AMWhat a very "Atlas Shrugged" type of question...
Why is it Canadian media wish Canadian companies such ill will?
@chris..I've always wondered about that too. Here's my theory. People who are unemployed watch a lot of TV. Furthermore, unemployed people may not be able to afford the premium channels on cable or satellite and must take the most basic package, which would include CTV. Since CTV has better fare than CBC (not a very high bar) they would receive the lion's share of unemployed Canadians watching TV. Higher ratings means higher revenue, which means higher incomes for all those working at CTV. It's just a theory.
Posted by: favill at January 19, 2012 8:04 AMSurely they jest.
Posted by: Mark at January 19, 2012 8:41 AMJust voted. Wonder why certain sectors of this province is still so dead set against expansion of economic industry. More working people will lead to the left being shut out in the cold for many elections to come. Oil and gas, mining and agriculture all hitting full stride, what a great time to be a resident here.
Posted by: deere boy at January 19, 2012 8:57 AMJust voted and the poll is at 73% now.

Agreed. Witness Obama cutting off the nose of the US to spite its face, vis a vis the Keystone XL Pipeline.
For a leftist, politics trumps common sense EVERY time.
Posted by: Eskimo at January 19, 2012 9:33 AMSelf loathers is what they are Ken, they, for the most part have accomplished nothing on their own, it is only through inherited wealth, or shakedowns of gullible people for cash, that most of the green-screamers even have a roof over their heads. Their breathless p-boys and girls in our so called media just love running to a 2 green-screamer protest and attempting to hype it up to the level of a Martin Luther King speech. Well if the red ink hasn't brought these losers any sense, going without all the amenities of our producers would help the eco-retards and their media.

Strange that is what zealous hard core Christian bible thumpers used try to do.
Now we have the spartan life-style of the zealous koran thumpers as well scorning the decadence of the West.
I guess that's what all religious nuts do.
What a stupid poll! Although I must admit that I contributed to the stupidity by casting my vote.
CTV should ask the question: "Would you like to see Saskatchewan slip back to have-not province status?"
I think the number of "yes" votes would be surprising. There are still a great many self-loathing socialists still cowering in their basements or grumbling at the local Co-op since November of 2007.
Posted by: biffjr. at January 19, 2012 12:18 PMThe media sells fear to reinforce its theocracy of salvation through more government control of satanic capitalists (evil surrogate for humanity) and their gaia temple destruction.
I would like to see this equivalent poll: Does CTV make too much money and reach too many viewers?
Posted by: John Chittick at January 19, 2012 12:30 PMWhy is it Canadian media wish Canadian companies such ill will?
Here's why.
With very few exceptions, the Canadian media are based out of Toronto and Montreal, and their editorial content determined by Toronto and Montreal elites. Said elites are still seething with rage over Western Canadians refusing to starve to death or flee the West in the Dirty Thirties and let Bay Street get millions of acres of prime Alberta and Saskatchewan farmland, and all the oil and potash underneath it, free of charge.
That's why the Canadian media opposed Social Credit, opposed their successor Reform and oppose the Conservative Party now. To Bay Street, Western Canadians are a problem to be solved, the way Stalin "solved" the problem of the kulaks in Ukraine who tried to stop Stalin's stealing their farms. (Stalin, of course, got away with it, and was lauded in the New York Times.) If Bay Street can't have all the "loot" in Alberta and Saskatchewan, they're damned if the kulaks will, and damned if any more Canadians than they can help are going to move west to find good jobs, start voting Conservative, and find it easier to tell Bay Street to go to hell (and take Ottawa's theft bonds with them).
And that's why Canada needs an Accurate News and Information Act. Right now the only source for the truth of what goes on in Canada is poorly-funded blogs like SDA. Bay Street media simply won't consistently report the truth about any issue of importance while they still have a choice. They'll print what Bay Street wants you to think. Why shouldn't they?
Posted by: Dick Slater at January 19, 2012 1:21 PMThe production increases are likely not going to be matched by demand so prices will soften. Sask companies would still be profitable at half of current prices. However, this ultimately leads to increased food production at reasonable cost. Anything that supports a growing world population is evil, very evil.
Posted by: WalterF at January 19, 2012 1:35 PMGreat insight Dick Slater. I agree. Thank goodness we at least have Sun News Network now.
Posted by: Miguel at January 19, 2012 1:41 PMHas anyone ever seen any tv ratings comparing CBC, CTV and Sun Media? I haven't, but I can only guess that Sun is kicking butt.

We are gona correct that in November Eskimo. That is if we can get that damn Mormon thru the vetting process.
Ratt
Right now the GOP seems more impressed with Gingrich' Conan rather than Romney's Dali Lama.
Canadians are painfully aware the effect the US has on Canada's fortunes....especially after MAObama's "incredibly stupid" veto of the Keystone.
MAObama's decision is merely a ploy to gain election $$$....the reasoning is those adversely affected are in flyover states that didn't vote for him and wouldn't vote for him anyway.
While $$$ play a large role in elections....rising costs of auto fuel, hence goods and services, and heating costs do not win friends and certainly will influence people, whether they could have had a job on Keystone or not.
Posted by: sasquatch at January 19, 2012 3:40 PMUmmmmm....now the poll is about a sex trade registry???? Wha happened???
Posted by: Justthinkin at January 19, 2012 9:28 PMGov't holding the mineral rights is a great way to play politics. Doing business by committee...there's a recipe for success. It's only because Canada is so naturally blessed that it can withstand all the waste and incompetence. Otherwise we would be worse off than Italy and Greece.
