Our self-proclaimed betters are having a little problem at their convention: Their wireless electronic voting system has crashed.

Perhaps this is a metaphor for the Liberals in general: Up the Creek Without a Paddle!
Update: Jeffrey Simpson is convinced Bob Rae will become the permanent leader of the Liberals. h/t 'batb The National Citizens Coalition isn't so sure this is a good idea for the country.
Update 2: More hilarious tweets from #LPC12:
Simpler and more efficient just to write each name on a piece
of paper and have someone draw one of them from a hat?
For the record, I'm a HUGE believer in wireless mobile technology and even build software for the devices. But the fact that this is happening to the Liberals was just too tempting to resist commenting on! :-)

Message to the disabled is, liberal party not for you. I notice they do not have any signing interpreters for the hearing impaired.
Not ready for prime time, just ready to figure out how to manipulate the vote.

Posted by: Stan at January 14, 2012 2:55 PMWally, that is HILARIOUS!!!
Wouldn't it also be fitting if the Lieberals switched their format over such that if anyone wanted to speak to the delegation that they first had to yell, "Mic Check"!!!
Posted by: Robert W. (Vancouver) at January 14, 2012 2:57 PMI wonder if they’re having this kind of problem?
Posted by: Oz at January 14, 2012 3:00 PMI heard that it was proposed that the office of Elections Canada could come in and ensure the integrity of the count...however, once that was suggested, however, immediate objections against were filed against their use.
Everyone was well aware of their bias and didn't want to risk the outcome of the convention by having 'undesirable' policies make it into their platform.
Posted by: Ed the Hun at January 14, 2012 3:13 PMOz, that's hilarious! No doubt Stephen Harper will soon be blamed for that rumour! LOL
Posted by: Robert W. (Vancouver) at January 14, 2012 3:14 PMOMG, this is hilarious.
It could not happen to a more deserving crew.
It reminds of Stephane Dion's expertise in videos. Those libs are technological gurus! No wonder they have so many national social programs and national strategies - they're so smart.
They want a national child care plan, a national home care plan, a national whatever the heck they can think of, and yet, they can't even create a working voting system for their own convention.
Posted by: scf at January 14, 2012 3:17 PMIf figuring out how to vote is too hard they could alsways go with 'Cow Pie Bingo'.
That's where you divide a corral up into squares and put a picture of a leadership candidates face in each square, add one cow, and when the cow drops a cowpie whatever space it lands on is the winner.
Or in this case, the loser.
Now remember folks these people are your intellectual superiors. If you don't believe me just ask them. Aster all they wents to univercity and is now edjumacated and all.
Posted by: Joe at January 14, 2012 3:28 PMThis latest debacle only reinforces the fact that Liberal stupidity is running a close second to Liberal dishonesty. One has to wonder why the last election was even as close as it was.
Is it possible that the average Liberal voter is just as stupid as the cretins running the party? Even with the MSM running continuous interference and providing cheerleading from the sidelines, one would have to be a semi-complete idiot to vote for a Liberal. Of course a complete idiot votes NDP.

Posted by: Robert W. (Vancouver) at January 14, 2012 3:35 PMI thought I could watch a bit of the convention on CPAC. They changed their channel. It used to be on ch.93,but they're showing something called " March of the Dinosaurs". Hmmm.
Posted by: wallyj at January 14, 2012 3:42 PMSoccermom;
Andrew Coyne does not need to be drafted to the Liberal Party. He declared himself at the last Federal Election. He's a die hard Liberal and he has a brain. Certainly a rare find. But he is far more helpful to the Liberal's as a so called "neutral" talking head on the CBC and now at the National Post. No bias there.

What wallyj said. "Hands up and wiggle those fingers for Bob."
That is funny.
Hands down and wiggle those fingers for Sheila.
Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at January 14, 2012 5:11 PMThe other comment I liked was "prez Samuel Lavoie says Libs will be less private club, more a movement." Same old Libs. They have heard "movements" are popular today so they have to incorporate that into their platform. They don't seem to realize most "movements" today are AstroTurf. You cannot create a movement. Real movements happen on their own.
Posted by: Wallhouse Wart at January 14, 2012 5:17 PMOkay, call me a prophet -- or don't!
I've been saying for years that Bob Rae was lurking stage left to usurp the LPC centre stage from Michael Ignatieff. Rae's takeover had to be surreptitious because, after all, the two of them were U. of T. alumni and good friends, but the takeover was going to happen, nonetheless.

Once gain I will bring Barbara Amiel into the murky Liberal picture.
Barbara Joan Estelle Amiel, Baroness Black of Crossharbour (born December 4, 1940) is a British-Canadian journalist, writer, and socialite. She is also the wife of former media baron and convicted felon Conrad Black.
Bob Rae was the ND Premier of Ontario and Barbara Amile was a regular OP-Ed contibutor in the Toronto SUN, at which time in a piece, she labeled Bob Rae a "krypto-communist."
Whether "Krypto-communist", "silk-stocking socialist, New Democrat OR LIBERAL......
BOB RAE tilts only to the left.... now .....and forever!

Posted by: wallyj at January 14, 2012 8:10 PMTheir whole convention has been farcical. It started with a twitter spat over what the official convention hashtag should be, then their crappy cardboard RENEWAL facade kept collapsing.
They followed that with the President's debate where the electronic timer kept cutting the candidates short. Of course that wasn't enough...they've created second class LPC members and now they can't count votes properly.
Looks good on the fools.

At some point the libs will again form the gov't. It's the Canadian way. The 'conservatives' might run a coupla majority governments and then it will be back to liberals. Unless something big comes along that causes a total collapse of the LPC.

As Bob Rae was an NDP Premier of Ontario, I'd think that as permanent leader of the Libs he would oversee a merger between the Liberal and ND parties.
Maybe call it the New Liberal Democrat party.
The new Lieberal leader should be the man/woman/alien who can out-drink McCallum.
