Free unicorns for all

Mobs of smelly socialist vermin are coming to a city near you to demand, like, you know, the complete and final overthrow of reality:

All debt must be stricken from the "Books." World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the "Books." And I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.

The manifesto of the Occupy Wall Street Resistance Movement, whose supporters include actress Susan Sarandon, also includes "demands" for a guaranteed living wage for all (even for those who don't work), a $20/hr minimum wage for those who do work, the outlawing of all credit reporting agencies, the elimination of American border controls so that anyone from anywhere in the world could come, go, or stay in the US as they please, an immediate trillion dollar in spending on green initiatives, another trillion for infrastructure…

Sure. And free PhDs in economics for hairy, innumerate, self-obsessed brats.

EBD, are these their actual demands or is the report from The Onion? One often can't tell anymore!

Posted by: Robert W at October 3, 2011 9:24 PM

What happens when their demands are met?

Posted by: oldfart at October 3, 2011 9:28 PM

You'd think by now the State of California would have convinced the lefties of the futility of their methods. All that remains is to allow California to print its own currency so it can completely emulate how not to run the rest of the country.

Posted by: langmann at October 3, 2011 9:31 PM

Oddly, I agree with demand ten. The other twelve are batshit crazy.

Posted by: Jared at October 3, 2011 9:32 PM

They also demand Obama be reinstated. Without elections.

I assume.

Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at October 3, 2011 9:57 PM

Like Jared, I find myself in agreement with demand 10, but I suspect this is of the same significance as finding something I can agree with in the random typings of a roomfull of chimpanzees with laptops. For those who are interested in this potential huge defect in the US voting system, the EFF and other organizations have been investigating this area for years.

The international banking system is totally broken, but the net effect of these moonbats protests will just serve to acquaint them with prison life. There are 3 options available to fix the current financial crisis:
(1) hyperinflation
(2) world war
(3) massive technologic development

Option (3) is the most palatable as it would allow the creation of enough new wealth to pay off the massive debts that exist. This should be combined with a program to tax people who just make money by playing with numbers - say a 99% tax on all incomes of $1 trillion or more. (That would still leave the person $10 billion after taxes and that is assuming there is no hyperinflation).

Option (3) would also mean ending all "green" energy projects, starting large scale shale-oil projects, building breeder reactors, and having a massive space program to tap space resources (which would also result in colonies on the moon). This is the only way that one could generate enough new wealth to pay off the worlds debt. Given the paucity of visionary capabilities of politicians, we'll likely end up with options (1) or (2). Option (1) is great for people who have most of their money invested in property or actual physical assets but would destroy the wealth of anyone who just has money in the bank. Option (2) is likely to be very messy and who wins can't be predicted.

Would a free education be of any help? Nope. A dope is a dope.

Posted by: Sounder at October 3, 2011 10:01 PM

I haven't worked my ass off just to let a few children run the joint.

These are the same people who think meat comes from the grocery store. "Organic" isn't consumerism. Climate Change isn't about money. Their logic is absolutely shallow.

When do parents, educators and politicians wake up to the reality they are creating? I would be evil to raise and teach such ideas.

The entitlement culture is facing quite the train wreck, and they have absolutely no comprehension of how it came to be or how to get out of it.

Posted by: Knacker at October 3, 2011 10:08 PM

Yes, demand 10 is the one thing on the list definitely worth doing. As for the other items, they are more or less what you would expect from lazy, maggot infested hippies.

In the comments section on the site someone suggested severing all ties between Washington and Wall Street. I think that would be a good thing. Politics in the USA has become so utterly corrupted by money that things will never improve until that problem is addressed.

Posted by: TJ at October 3, 2011 10:09 PM

The demands read like a laundry list of the Marxist Revolutionist party, aka the NDP.

They love to trot out this 'living wage' BS, another leftwing entitlement feature. Moonbat batshit crazy.

As you look through these crowds on the MSM coverage, it becomes clear that, there are no elderly, it appears to be the usual rent-a-mob, young, stupid and idealist mob, looking for a party and to get laid (hopefully).

We'll see how dedicated they are in the sub-zero temps of December!

You forgot option 4: Deflation and bankruptcy.

It is available, but, you might say, is a choice of sorts, chosen by indifference to solve it by the scenarios you have listed.

Judging by the (in)action the Greeks have taken, it's not off the table, and, may be the play that is alive and kicking in Greece.

Does the rest of the planet also have to lift their border controls, or is it just the U.S.?

Posted by: tower at October 3, 2011 10:20 PM

Since their list of wants basically amounts to forcing taxpayers to become adoptive parents to eternal children who don't want to grow up and pay for their own stuff, the answer should simply be "No, dear Please remember to clean up your mess and take out the trash when you and your little friends are finished playing socialist dictator."

Posted by: LC Bennett at October 3, 2011 10:21 PM

Sarandon says, "I don't know that much about Wall Street....", so maybe she should STFU!

She can stick to memorizing scripts, about her only marketable skill, as well as going naked in front of the cameras. That makes her a financial expert?

Posted by: DanBC at October 3, 2011 10:21 PM

Number ten for me too.
Raise tariffs and erase borders at the same time?
These guys want lots of free stuff, like the German Pirate Party that was in the news two weeks ago.

The beauty is that if they happen win out, they will have spawned the largest and likely longest lasting dark age in history.

They will be the ones who will suffer a shorter more miserable life than the previous two or three generations. Their stupidity will be rewarded with poverty and hard life with little freedom. Oh ... and their taxes will support our retirement .... one that they will not enjoy when they are too old (rather than too lazy) to work, there will be no genial generation coming up behind them, rather, just another generation of self-centered, misinformed, brainwashed twits who will toe the party line whilst enjoying poverty, crime, misery.

If they happen to lose to our side ... they will have to take a shower and get a job because we are Bah Roke! But we an fix it up if we get someone like Herman Cain in the White house.

We should let in all the immigrants who want to come here, working for at least $20 per hour, but they are only allowed to work in the motion picture, music, and performing arts industry.

I'm sure there are some hot Latinas who could act Sarandon out of a job.

I wonder why they don't just gather together, buy their own land and live the "right" way. I am sure that is short order, everyone would see how much better the "right" way is.

Oh, wait! They tried that in the 1960's and IT DIDN'T WORK!

Posted by: JB1000 at October 3, 2011 10:37 PM

They are, perhaps, the vanguard of an Obamist armed takeover. Vanguard, to march over the minefields, not the shock troops. The toughs would (will?) come next.

This is what an education of propaganda brings these creeps to.

Really? Who would be influenced by a small knot of hippies conducting a cross country protest tour.....no doubt financed by the likes of Susan Saranden, Matt Damen.....

Their list of demands indicates that even they don't take themselves seriously....

Posted by: sasquatch at October 3, 2011 10:51 PM

Never underestimate the "smelly socialist vermin" and look for who is behind this. The clenched fist at the masthead of the OccupyWallStreet website is a clue.

Those that say demand number 10 is the only one that has merit are right, especially considering the voter fraud that apparently takes place in US elections. Although the system we use in Canada is not foolproof either. A few elections ago there were more votes than voters in one area of Northwest Saskatchewan.

Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at October 3, 2011 11:02 PM

At the moment, I have no debt, not even a monthly credit card balance. If they are going to forgive all debts I hope that they will hold it off until I can run up a couple of million dollars in debt, or maybe they could put a couple of million dollars credit on my Visa card.

Posted by: Robert W at October 4, 2011 1:41 AM

DanBC, I didn't include your option (4) of deflation and bankruptcy as I considered it to be a very low probability event. We're talking about the whole world financial system, not just a few poorly run economies. It would be interesting to see what would happen if all of the worlds governments ran out of money simultaneously and I suspect that the result would be a series of wars in which one state attempted to obtain the assets of another state by force. That, or hyperinflation as it has the effect of eliminating unsustainable debts.

Given the vast amount of money being printed by the US government, the only possible outcome would be hyperinflation. I'd be interested in hearing your views in more detail about why you think deflation is likely.

Posted by: Loki at October 4, 2011 2:11 AM

When they succeed in getting the rich to pay taxes, they will only have 99% of the deficit to go before a solution.

Then they will blow that on extra windmills.

Sigh.

Posted by: Thomas_L...... at October 4, 2011 10:47 AM

Though I share the general opinion of this particular movement (i.e. they're nucking futz), I did wonder about the notion of "mutual debt forgiveness" as an option.

Suppose A owes B $100, and B owes C $60, and C owes A $80. Given that all of them would (ideally) immediately pay off the person they owed once the person who owed them paid them, why shouldn't all three of them automatically write down all their debts by the maximum mutual amount, $60? So A now owes only $40 to B, B owes C nothing, and C owes A only $20.

Collapse the loop and flatten the feedback cycle.

Posted by: Stephen J. at October 4, 2011 12:54 PM

I propose that the government issue everyone an infinite supply of free weed. Only a fascist police state would fail to do that. They should also make it illegal for the economy to collapse.

Posted by: Stan at October 4, 2011 2:43 PM

Somehow I cannot get angry at these folks. They are against the establishment man.

So am I. I am tired of crony capitalism. I am tired of big government looking after their own interests in getting bigger.

Where we may differ is that I am also tired of everyone, including these guys, reducing public discussion and debate to yelling ideologically based slogans at each other.

How much difference is there between the Tea Party’s movement against entrenched interests in crony capitalism and big government and these guys lashing out?

I see pitch forks and torches not too far down the road. That will be the ultimate accountability of the “philosopher kings” in power now and I find that comforting.

Posted by: rroe at October 4, 2011 2:57 PM

The Washington Post has an indepth piece on the diverse makeup of the protesters. Many were apparently gainfully employed, some in the financial sector. However, their lack of focus in formulating their 'demands' is the problem. The Tea Party apparently is interested in new membership from the ranks. Like that outfit, they're protesting the wasted stimulus on the bank bailouts, the lack of jobs, the ongoing housing meltdown. These people have nothing, but the msm are just now starting to cover their legitimate beefs.

Calling them ALL 'smelly vermin' is meaner than junk yard dog attitudes, doncha think. They are human beings who are maximally stressed, given the circumstances, self-inflicted in some cases, but not so probably in the majority of cases. The depression has already arrived on all shores is what should be obvious.

Solutions are to be found. That's the main idea.

I haven't paid to watch anything Hollywood for some decades now.

Unless Susan is getting subsidized with extorted tax dollars, she is doing her fairy kingdom policy proposals on her dime.

The taxes I pay now go for services either not delivered, or delivered with incompetence. The city I live in has health inspectors; the city swarms with rats and roaches in the restaurants; the designer sneaker clad socialist welfare class scratch at their bedbug bites between drug deals, rapes, and killings.

Despite massive investments in education, the educated are dolts, quick to find fault with external conditions in order to scoop a 'racial equality' settlement, and slow to attend to their tasks. They take smoke breaks when they are not on break; they complain about second hand smoke; they steal time and product knowing that their victim status protects them from correction.

When Susan wants more taxes, I know the money will not bring about the desired end, but instead find its way to some organ grinder so he can buy a new suit for his monkey. You can resist taxation, but your elected tax fighters soon gobble down the white guilt fresh from leftist testicles, and they cut little, and tax more.

You can opt out of the tax burdened economy and embrace the black market. Why pay taxes for services not delivered? Avoid taxes; this is what the first nations taught me from watching the, uh, Caledonia occupation.

Posted by: Fenris Badwulf at October 5, 2011 10:28 AM

That's a great solution, Fenris, for those who are willing to a) break the law, b) teach their kids to break the law, c) hand control of the government (which will, by your speculations, will continue to exist) to "dolts", and d) provide special didactic dispensations for Hollywood stars who, although they may not be directly receiving extorted tax dollars, use their fame as a cudgel to convince numb voters/consumers to vote in favor of said extortion.

What could go wonrg?
