I remember 1970 and 1972. I have autographs and have shaken hands with Johnny Bucyk, Bobby Orr, Gerry Cheevers and Cam Neely. Growing up I was #4 every chance I got. I live in Vancouver, and have cheared on the Canucks since day 1. Perfect final for me. I am leaning slightly to Boston, however I will go to the parade in Vancouver if they win. DROP THE PUCK!

I just walked through the downtown and it is already getting crowded and noisy - lotsa car honking and horns. I was going to stop at Costco on the way home - there is a downtown store across Expo Blvd from Roger's Arena, but I think I'll wait until tomorrow and avoid the mobs of people.

It is going to be a great game and with 100,000+ in the streets it will be a party as well. The city will be pumped. Hoping it stays calm and the stupid people stay home.

As your resident Burnaby lad, I have the usual mixed feelings about this ... can see to some extent how the Canucks have gained some bad press outside of heaven on earth here, but feel that some of it (the Toronto part for sure) is sour Grapes (ha ha) ... and I used to cheer for the Bruins when I cared about hockey and it was hockey and not this new sport which I think of as Beat the Coroner ... also the Sedins irritate me with their constant passing of the puck from one corner to the other, behind the net, then off to some imagined triplet who has not yet taken subhuman form ... also Luongo ... but I like Bieksa and since he's always on the ice, I can cheer for the team, I guess (or get beaten up, whichever I prefer).

On that note, Go overtime (so I can cash in).

And seriously, it should be the downtown merchants praying to the Gods of Hockey, whoever they are (Bobby Orr isn't dead and you can't pray to him about this anyway, I would think).

Boston proved to be a class team and actually I'm happy for them. I think what this shows hockey fans in general is that the Eastern conference is tougher than the Western conference, because the Sedins just can't compete at this level. Of course, the way Thomas was playing, you need some breaks and it was only a matter of time until the luck ran out. I sense a riot coming on, but I wouldn't blame leftards for that, most other things sure, but your average rioter is just some drunk loser (probably don't vote either).

Unfortunately I was right last year when I told a co-worker that Vancouver would not be allowed to win the cup, and that how the game was called would be how the league would keep it from happening. It's gotta grate on Thomas, he was the best player out there for the football game on ice, but Canuck fans won't be willing to give him the credit he deserved because our team got to where they were by playing hockey, and will always remember that if it had been the same style of game as the rest of the season then it would have been a lot closer.

What a crock. I work a block from the arena. The crowds were always mostly yobs, and the frenzied psychosis surrounding the Canucks has been building for years. Smug and rude when they're winning, and nasty and unforgiving when they lose. What else do you expect in a country which effaces its cultural, ethnic and religious identity, and a city which tells itself how deserving and entitled it is: to pleasure, compliments and self-satisfaction? Strange and psychotic idols and heresies. Do you relaly expect people to behave decently when things go against them in these circumstances? Not a chance. The old adage is again proven - those who believ in nothing will fall for anything - and will do anything.

All the riots have done is give us a glimpse of the darkness in the heart of Vancouver, and Canada, that is beating ever stronger. God help us all when the money and the entertainments run out.
