Great first step of a majority Conservative government. Now if only it should continue, we can rescue this country from the morass of the entitlement liberal legacy.

Now all we need to do is get Red Ed out of office and Danielle in.

Posted by: James at May 19, 2011 4:35 PM
Kent said the Tory government would continue with other means to reach the government's greenhouse gas reduction target of 17% below 2005 levels by 2020.

Those Harper dicks still paying lip service to the enviros! I'm never voting for those sell-outs again!!111!!/sarc

GOOD!

Let's hope this is just the start of a return to sanity on the Environment file!

Good work, Mr.Kent.

Let's see...Rabid partisan's in Cabinet. Hardcore Libertarian Bernier back in Cabinet. Defunding Bev Oda remains in cabinet. Lightbulb ban has been removed. Senate stacked with three more hardcore partisans. Carbon tax off the table. Wheat Board gone next year. Omnibus Crime bill banging out reams and reams of bad guy legislation.

The election was what....two and a half weeks ago?

Awesome.

Somehow in some way the top of bureaucracy will have to be changed. These people are the ones that pay lipservice to the desires of the politians(our representatives)and continue on their merry empire building way. They are the ones with their fingertips on the information our representatives need, and they are the ones that present it in the light that most serves themselves, and not the poor bleeding taxpayer. There was a time that a government change ment a real change in direction. Not any more, and the bureaucracy is the main road block. And it is long past time that these people were held to task for their actions or mainly lack of action in so many areas. Gun registry and citizenship application delays are prime examples.

Lowering emmisions good, a carbon tax is a wealth redistribution scam and nothing more. He'd face a rebellion if he tried to impliment said tax and he knows it.

Posted by: Rose at May 19, 2011 5:03 PM

Way to go Harper and Kent!!!

At this time I'd like to admit that I was initially wrong about the Harper government and they're betrayal regarding AGW. That said, I did realize sooner than most conservatives commenters that PMSH's strategy of 'paying lip service' and putting the burden on The (incompetent) ONE was a stroke of pure genius. By letting Obama lead on the AGW file PMSH all but assured the failure of the Carbon Tax scheme, and takes no responsibility for that failure.

PMSH has shown again that he's playing chess while the others are playing checkers.

Jeff

It's amazing how much legislation one can have backed-up under two consecutive minorities eh? The Conservative majority is a wonderful thing.

This is awesome news. Maybe someone pointed out this fine quote to our PM:

FLOOD ALERT !

A devasted Lizzie May has been declared a flood hazard as she weeps rivers of tears because her much beloved Carbon Tax has been euthanized.

Cry Lizzie cry.

You'll eventually feel better.

Our PM has and end game here. Stack the Senate (how else do you ensure that reform can happen), use a large Cabinet to ensure you can begin to bring down the bureaucracy.

We've already seen announcements on the CWB and this, it's happening people.

You can't undo 70 years of incompetence overnight.

Posted by: Derek at May 19, 2011 5:33 PM

Oh, BTW, Kate and SDA got a shout out on The Source with Ezra Levant today, specifically about her help with outing the CWB.

Congrats and thanks Kate!

This is excellent!!!

PMSH will gradually reform the Mandarinate. He has
made a good start but it will take another five or
ten years at least.

In his campaign meeting in St. John's, PMSH (who
was received ecstatically, the CBC notwithstanding)
touted Muskrat Falls as a green project, which actually it is.
It is obvious that that is the kind of green he likes: green which increases our supply of inexpensive energy,
and helps keep (in this instance) Newfoundland off the Federal dole.

Mr. Kent, like all other Conservatives, knows that a carbon tax is a social engineering project designed to impoverish all citizens. Only people hoping to cash in on the impoverishment of their fellow man support this Marxist plan; people who are fools - the type that Lenin called 'useful idiots'. Our Prime Minister has saved the fools bacon from the Marxists. The fools did not deserve to be saved but the rest of us did; I thank the PM and Mr. Kent for thinking about the latter group: the citizens who voted Conservative.

The Troika (Dippers/Liberanos/Blocheads) know that a Carbon Tax would bankrupt average citizens but in the fanatical haze of resentment and a sordid desire to command the life and death of all people, (economic control is essential for the enslavement of free citizens - make people dependant on the state for life and the will to survive turns them into soulless automatons). The Troika and their supporters shock me in their hatred for humans.

Thank-you PMSH and all the good people who voted for the Conservatives. Canada has a life line. Don't make 'nice' with the Troika - see Kate's header - and Mr. Wall you take a look at that header - seems you Mr. Wall just don't learn the basics very fast (the Header) - Mr. Wall criticises the PM to the press gang (not Wall friends) re the new senate appointments but Oh! where is his legislation in Sask. to enable elections??? Give your head a shake Brad.

Harper will lead the nation to an understanding that superior, conservative solutions exist to the real problems out there, and once he's done that, the radicals will be utterly alone, ( aside from the voice of their ego in their heads ); abandoned by the citizenry. Hopefully, some will put down the gun, and realize that Harper is doing right.

And the measured, even diffident approach of the PM ( which Indiana Homez put down to craftiness on the part of the PM ) is actually the mark of a true leader.

God bless PM Harper!

These happy days are all well and good, and i concur, but there are two vast storehouses of leftard ideology that must be tackled before this turn to the positive becomes but a temporary upward blip in our country's overarching downward trudeaupian trajectory.

Academia keeps a vast army of indexed pension unaccountable hardcore whackademic lefties stacked like wet cordwood in useless degree faculties. They brainwash impressionable youth into warped marxism admirers, and robot moral relativists.

The second is their agitprop arm, aka the ceeb. It similarly sucks up productive taxpayer funds, and produces a stream of vile anti common sense from their cloaca on Front St. W.

Sell off ceeb tv, defund basket weaving degrees.

Do it, for the children...

One small step but what's this BS about reducing CO2 emissions by 17%? Hopefully this means that we'll be using nuclear reactors instead of natural gas to supply heat in the oil sands as that would reduce CO2 emissions.

I won't be satisfied until every CAGW criminal is behind bars and every academic who stated the "science was settled" fired. (I have no problem with people having different points of view but the treatment of "climate change deniers" by academics was such a perversion of science that all those who participated should be working in fast food restaurants).

Maybe the next move should be removal of funding from the useless university departments and directing it to those departments who actually produce useful graduates.

I watched Mr. Moore and Ezra. There was a noteworthy comment from Mr. Moore about the lack of Canadian content on CBC. Maybe something about the cost of buying American shows?
As the Heritage Minister I am hoping he was alluding to re-directing funding, perhaps towards actual Canadian Heritage?
Like anyone would watch...lol

BC is still clinging proudly to it's carbon tax. After all....this is BC, better known as California north. The home of weenies , whiners and wingnuts.

Posted by: peterj at May 20, 2011 12:33 AM

peterj regarding BC:
The home of weenies , whiners and wingnuts.
Be careful about which part of BC you refer to. The moonbats are concentrated primarily on the bottom of the left coast with Vancouver being moonbat central. From Abbotsford west, one has normal people who detest what the BC moonbats are doing. The only problem is that most of the people in the interior of BC are too busy working to expend the necessary effort to detach the sane portion of BC from the moonbat portion and join up with Alberta.

I'd love to see Vancouver moonbats sloshing about in the rain in their birkenstocks going to their freezing solar-heated hovels with the occasional lucky moonbat having access to a bicycle for transportation. Meanwhile in the interior we drive our SUV's and pickups and and do our bit to replentish atmospheric CO2 by keeping our houses warm and bright.

@ loki
As a resident of the far north.....I eat my words for anyone north of Hope. Nothing wrong with Vancouver that a rise in the Ocean level can't fix.

Posted by: peterj at May 20, 2011 1:44 AM

Thanks for the geographic lesson loki and peterj. B.C. is indeed a divided province and the people who work and produce are as decent and hard working as any Alta/ Sask Conservative - the lazy, old, seed bag hippies and grubs of yuppydumb on the W.coast suck all the prosperity out of the good people in the interior. Vancouver used to be a working town and Victoria was once very Conservative. Things changed in the 70's when draft dodgers and hippies moved in, voted Dipper for the 'free' money and then used their vote to blackmail the gument to keep handing out the $$.

I saw James Moore on Ezra's show today - Moore is a man who grew up in the 'dole culture', he thinks 'being nice to his enemies will make them friends' because that is the way Conservatives in B.C. 'bought' votes in Vancouver; in the past. They sell out producers for the sake of votes.

When the Social credit were the government in B.C. (prior to 1970), B.C. was debt free, maintained low taxes and was the most prosperous province in the country.

Posted by: Jema 54 at May 20, 2011 3:27 AM

The Harper government will indeed impose a cap and trade system for CO2 starting at $15.00 per ton.

What's the difference between that and a carbon tax besides symantics? It will still be redistribution of wealth from the people who produce to those who don't.

Additionally Harper's plan calls for a huge central comand-and-control agency to be formed to force compliance with his new plan. The political interference will be imense as most, if not all, people who want to start a businesses after a certain date will need permission from Harper's new central planning agency.

I have voted conservative all my life. My fellow conservatives; we've been had. Don't believe me? Search for this on the internet or on the Government of Canada website: "Turning the Corner - Regulatory Framework for Industrial Greenhouse Gas Emissions".

Don't you fellow conservatives think it's best to start a REAL conservative party NOW while we still have a little time?

Posted by: Cal at May 20, 2011 6:08 AM

Here's a quote from section 7.2 of the "Regulatory Framework for Industrial Greenhouse Gas Emissions":

"Under the authority of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, the proposed regulations will require significant reductions in the emissions of greenhouse gases from Canada's most emission-intensive industrial emitters. This implies that Canada's industrial sectors will face an internal cost of emissions, derived from the incremental costs they will face in complying with the regulations....In many cases, new technology and other investments will be required."

"A portion of the costs associated with these investments and changes in operations will be passed on by the regulated sectors in the form of higher prices, thereby changing the relative price signals the the rest of the economy in favour of low-emitting investment and consumption choices."

"Canadians can therefore expect to bear costs under the regulatory framework that are NOT TRIVIAL. At the same time, these costs strike an appropriate balance between environmental results and manageable economic impacts."

And this is most important:

"For the mafority of individual Canadians and for businesses outside the regulated sectors, these costs will be most evident in the from of higher energy prices, particular with respect to ELECTRICITY and NATURAL GAS."

It goes on and I hope you'll take a look at what Harper has in store for us.

Cheers

I'll reasses my POV.

Nice OT post, "so".

Um, did you have a point to make?

Posted by: Michael H Anderson at May 20, 2011 2:19 PM

That 'Turning the Corner' thingie is a fanatical, frightening horror script Cal. Thanks for posting it. This bit of radical fiction is designed to curry favor with Kebec and the fairy tale land of the B.C. west coast, IMO.

Remember how crazy the country was before the hope-in-hag-gan frenzy flopped? Canadians, with few exceptions (even some here at SDA - notable exception being ron in kelowna, who called the hoax by it's name the night before Mr. Monckton exposed the real Climate changie agenda - again, posted here, on sda) were 'accepting' that 'something had to be done' re: globull warm-up. Check back in the archives of that time if you don't believe me!

I never believed in the globull warm-up thingie because I listened to Mr. Deer (reform M.P. from Red Deer, Alta) rip the Kyotee fraud to shreds when the Reform Party (led by our PMSH) spoke against it for days and days and days. All intelligent people (PMSH is intelligent) know that the environment social engineering project is a one world gument hoax to enable elitists to turn all of us into world slaves - all equal in our poverty and stupidity.

Things have changed - thanks to ethical scientists, sda, ethical msm commentators (Glen Beck, Rush, Sarah Palin), the President of the Czech Republic, Mark Steyn, commentators at sda, Ezra, Kevin Lubin, Lori Goldstein, Mr. Monckton, M. Coran....Kate @ SDA, ......like the Berlin wall the hoax crumbled. Mr. Prentice resigned (so did Mr. Deer when he had been forced - by many Conservatives - to change his tune); the hoax has been blown to smithereens and it is high time that legislation hit the same shredder.

Contact Mr. Kent. I do intend to do that but it will have more impact if lots of people contact Mr. Kent. This cannot stand.
