The Diplomad

...is back!

Geez, we're known for dying in great numbers at Dieppe and Normandy. Now Afghanistan.

To paraphrase General Patton, the aim isn't to die for your country, the aim is to make the other fellow die for his.

DiploMad's description of Canada as "Kansas ruled by Massachusetts" is going to stay with me for a long time.

Dying in great numbers in Afghanistan

But seriously - 150 soldiers in almost ten years? While I'm not denigrating the death of any Canadian serving there (and I'll admit I'm lucky enough that I haven't been touched personally by one, while I'm sure that many of here have been), this is a relatively low number.

Remember that 340 Canadians died in one day on June 6, 1944; that's almost twice the number in 24 hours as have been killed in almost a decade in A'stan. Unfortunately, that number will rise.

The problem with leftists is they meet a lot of Muslims who are willing to live and let live in Western society, so they think all the Islamists think that way too. Of course, they don't; Islamism is s vicious, backward, barbaric creed that is totalitarian at its core.

And, as we learned with Hitler, you can't contain Islamism with appeasement (and I think this is the thrust of DiploMad's latest essay) - you need to contain it with threats and actions and, yes, war and death, until it's either destroyed or transformed from within. I don't see a happy prospect for either of those happening in the next twenty years.

From his 2nd most recent post, 'Islamic civilization produces nothing. Yes, yes, what about algebra? Ok, Ok, it hasn't produced anything in modern times besides ignorance, death, despair, and poverty. It is the MSNBC of religious faiths, but, admittedly, with higher ratings.

I missed that blog

The new health problem at Gitmo is Obesity.

We are killing these poor terrorists bastards with too much food.

Anyway...

From Diplomad:

Not just any President, mind you, but The One, The One Who Would Heal the Planet, Sooth All Troubles, the Post-American President, the Citizen of the World, The Nobel Peace Prize Winner,
(bow, shucked, and jived Mid-East leaders.)

When Barry kills someone we need to just accept it as an 'act of god.'

'It should give them a thrill up their legs.'

Algebra and our numeric system are Arabic, not Islamic.
Please let's not confuse the two.

Way to miss the point, KevinB :)

For the love of all that lives,as bluetech says,Islam DID NOT give us Algebra. They have given us murder,"honor" killings, and the Palis,oh and the Zero.

Posted by: Justthinkin at May 13, 2011 9:45 AM

As I read the history of algebra, the Arabs developed further on ideas that came from the Greeks and from India. Also Persia.

The present propaganda that algebra came from Islam is utter Big Lie bullpucky. Besides, most likely the poor b@st@rds who came up with all the math did so at their peril, just as Galileo and Copernicus in their time.

As to The Diplomad, he makes many excellent points. But here I must disagree:

"We conservatives must, therefore, stand with the President on this issue. We cannot treat him as the left would have treated Bush, and, in fact, did treat Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld, etc., all through the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq."

If a morally corrupt P.O.S. politician does ONE good thing in two years, two years otherwise dedicated to the utter destruction of the American economy and industry, I am not required to "stand with the President on this issue". Particularly since assassinating Osama is the utter antithesis of everything Barry and the Dumb-o-cRats have been braying since Algore lost the election in 2000.

It is never not a good time to bash Barry and the Dumb-o-cRats. It is never not a good time to revel in their utter hypocrisy and turn their own weapons against them.

They all need to be defeated, driven from public life in shame and if possible ruined financially, to live out their days in poverty because of the damage they have done to America, and by extension Canada and Western civilization generally. Barry particularly should live in a busted shack in Kenya like his brother, taken in by his family because no one else will have him.

Killing Osama Bin Laden was the right thing to do, and doing it only proves what lying chunks of parrot dung the DemocRats have been since the 1960's. May they all contract boils.

Not to go off topic, but after reading a bit of Dipomad 2.0 I started to wonder who the Obama-nator will have whacked next?

"Algebra and our numeric system are Arabic, not Islamic. Please let's not confuse the two."

And even that is generous. Babylonian, Greek and Indian mathemeticians were using algebra (and zero to address another poster) long before muslim scholars.

And even to call them "muslim scholars" is generous since at the time of al-Khwārizmī, islam had existed for less than 100 years. Since these were the very first generations of muslims, I'd suggest their traditions and mindset were likely still very rooted in previous civilizations (though I'm not a historian).

I think most of the reason for the attributions of these things to islam is based on PC guilt since muslim civiliation has been essentially stagnant for 1000 years.

"as legitimate as Yamamoto whom the U.S. successfully targeted in a brilliantly executed early example of coordination between military and intel; and as legitimate as Rommel,"

oh gawd; think of the comeuppance factor on that one.

anyone want to borrow my copy of 'battlefield: battle of Midway'. lots more comeuppance.

I have to totally agree on this one, after 2 decades of momentum this guy created to whine about whether he was shooting back at a precise moment is superfluous. besides, they shytbag let all his underlings do the actual shooting.

Posted by: sharpshooter at May 13, 2011 11:48 AM

The linked article was somehow equating the assassination of Bin Laden with the RAF's strafing of Erwin Rommel. One was an in-theater war event targeting a soldier in uniform who, to my knowledge, was not into targeting civilians, but an effective and professional military commander. The other, a privateer, planning and ordering the killing of civilians, unbound by any code other than Wahhabi Islam. The modern war against Islamist privateers more resembles Jefferson's war against the Islamist pirates (from Tripoli) of 1801.

Posted by: John Chittick at May 13, 2011 12:26 PM

Joihn Chittick, I agree with your point about the pirates. Going into Pakistan and whacking Osama Bin Laden is absolutely no different than going into Columbia and whacking the head of a drug cartel. In fact we know that Al Qaeda IS part drug cartel, that's one of the main reasons for being Afghanistan. Opium.

So all the Leftist soul searching and breast beating about the "morality" of killing this @$$hole falls rather flat. If you can take a little run down to Mexico to capture and/or kill the local Mexican drug kingpin who's been shooting your Border Patrol officers, you can do the same in Pakistan.

Arguing differently is just another outpouring of partisan hate for conservatives. Its not morality, its bile. Half of these Lefties seem like they'd cut off a limb if they thought they could blame it on Republicans or the CPC.

OBOZO pretending it was all his idea when he kept stalling and at one point ignored Valerie Jarrett's exceeding her authority by calling it off..at least once...is more than hypocracy.

This was not an Executive decision but rather a committee decision by State (Clinton), the CIA and the Pentagon.

I suspect the very first OBOZO knew was by an after action briefing/report.

Diplomad errs with his reference to Rommel. A Canadian manned Spitfire straffed a target of opportunity, a staff car, on a routine fighter sweep. The pilot's or any other Allied member first knowledge was intercepted Nazi communications (likely enigma coded) long after the incident.

However the Yamamoto hit was deliberate...
Earlier Yamamoto nearly got Admiral Halsey, when a chance sighting of a single C47, prompted Yamamoto to dispatch fighters. This was frustrated by Halsey's decision to change destinations/course after HIS pilots reported sighting the IJN minesweeper. Two poker players.

Used to read The Diplomad daily until he signed off. Wander if the foggies ever found out who he was, probably, that is why he stopped his reports, remember him writing something to that effect.
His frequent reports from the mohamedland were informative, more so than reading, listening, watching the mass media news. After his last post, commented on his blog that it was unfortunate he had to stop, because he had the first hand reports, wished him well.

Good to see him back in business.

He's mostly right, but I would substitute Vermont for Mass.

Posted by: Revnant Dream at May 14, 2011 1:05 AM

Kevin B at 4:58 a.m. -- You refer to Islamism as if it is distinct in some way from plain old Islam without an "ism". If there is another version of Islam out there, where do we find it? From what I have been able to learn there is only one Quaran and one shariah and both prescribe a strict lifestyle for believers and call for the demise of we infidels.

I think Geert Wilders has the correct take on this barbaric ideology that masquerades as a religion. He said those we like to describe as moderate Muslims are arguably not real Muslims. The Quaran and shariah are supposed to be the words of Allah. For believers, they prescribe a way of life that cannot be questioned and cannot be changed. Muslims who do not live in strict accordance with these precepts obviously question some elements of the creed and are therefore not true Muslims.

I think this is why those we like to call moderate Muslims are not more vocal in protest of their fundamentalist brethern. Because they do not live their lives in strict obedience to the Islamic ideology, they risk being labelled apostates if they draw attention to themselves and speak out against the fundamentalists. The Islamic penalty for apostasy is death. The so-called moderate Muslims are fearful and with good reason.

Thanks for all the comments and viewings on my little blog.

Re Rommel, Yamamoto, and Heydrich my point, poorly stated, I admit, was that those actions were carried with no thought given as to whether the intended targets could or could not fight back.

The wounding of Rommel is claimed by a various persons, including an American in a P-47. The German records state he was wounded by a Spitfire and they assumed it was British--if it was a Canadian RCAF aircraft, good! The point was that an aircraft staffing vehicles on the road does it without thought as to whether those vehicles can fight back. The point of war and war operations is not to conduct yourself so your enemy can fight back. An ambush is carried out in the hope that the enemy will be surprised, and not able to fight back. There was no obligation on the part of the SEALs to allow OBL to resist. Cheers and all the best.

And Canada, keep showing us the way out of the economic swamp. We seem to have forgotten our own principles.
