Election2011: Masturgate

The plot thickens...

Well, isn't this quite the confession. I wonder why it didn't merit mention during his SunTV interview?

Update: Jack Layton just informed media in Burnaby, BC that he received his massage in a "community clinic".

A very communityclinicy update: Velvet Touch Massage parlour

"As a political guy: A Sun reporter called me about this story yesterday afternoon. Before he could even describe what it was about – he said it involved “a major political figure and the police” – I told him I already knew what it was about. In Toronto, and amongst many political people, this story has been pretty well-known for years. Someone came to me about it two years ago. I looked at what they had, thought about it for about sixty seconds, and then urged this person to forget all about it. I certainly planned to. If the story ever saw the light of day, I told this person, it would hurt the source more than it would hurt the target."

His face gave it away last night.

While this might not be the time or the place, I need to make a complaint regarding the new Sun TV network.

Until now I sourced my news from radio (CJME) and/or this website. My TV was reserved for sporting events. Now with Sun TV it appears that I have to now actually watch some of my news!

This is outrageous to the point that while watching Sun TV I have missed most of the first period of the Bruins/Flyers game (any minute ones get to listen to Bob Cole call a game before CBC manages to show him and Don Cherry the door should not be missed) and the first to innings of the Jays game.

What is a guy to to?

Should a good TV broadcast of news possibly be banned so as to not interfere with sports. I could then just go back to the 'good ole days' when the only reliable news sources were Gormley, Adler (radio!) and SDA.

Times were simpler back then...

I wonder what doctors will now call their workplaces now that Whackojack has changed the meaning of 'clinic' to 'whorehouse'? Now that I think about it,what ever happened to the clinicpianoplayer that used to comment here all the time?

'hidden agenda" narrative they hung around the Conservatives necks for the last few years on behalf of the LPC.

Posted by: allan at April 30, 2011 5:53 PM

I remember hearing whispers about this years ago, but the version I heard was about Jack and a bath house escapade. Since nothing came of it, I put it down to the usual silly urban legends that come around.

Turns out... no. It's legit, and it's hilarious!

So Jacko has beat it out to Lalaland to try and get a handle on the situation.
Put out flyers listing conveniently located massage parlours and lock up your

Just saw the CBC report, they make out Jack to be the victim of "smear politics" and show Layton lamenting where politics in Canada has gone!

Then they're on to lots of feel good stories featuring voters who say it's time for a change, and are going to vote .......NDP!

The Toronto police are quoted "they're going to find out who breached confidentiality by releasing this report".

Again, Jack's the VICTIM!

Bury it,bury it seems to be the mode of the MSM on this one.

Too little,too late.

If by "legit" you mean "common bawdy house" then I agree.

Have you seen the City of Toronto business licence to operate as the "community massage clinic" that Jack Layton claims that it was that would make it "legit"?
(if so, link please)

Asked Saturday whether the place looked "sketchy," Layton said: "Not at all. Otherwise I wouldn’t have gone in."

Looks like a high class place to me also.

How can this be a surprise you people. Jack and his wife lived in subsidized housing while city councilors making a 150,000 plus per year. This is the level at which these socialists play. We are witness here in Sask. as to just how low the NDP can go to get there agenda on the table. Remember the NDP telling us that Brad Wall would cancell the Feb. family day holiday if elected. Remember the sheep in wolf's clothing slogan. THE NDP IS SHIT, PURE AND SIMPLE.

The former Asian crime unit officer, who requested anonymity, details a prior police raid on the "premise currently ID as a bawdy house" looking for underage Asian hookers and a subsequent follow-up visit to the two-storey brick storefront on Jan. 9.

At first the policemen didn't realize they were interviewing one of the best-known Toronto politicians who was married to Chow, also a Metro councillor and now the incumbent NDP MP for Trinity-Spadina.

The officer's notebook indicates he asked the suspected john: "Did you receive any sexual services?"

He replied: "No sir, I was just getting a shiatsu."

The cop: "Why did you have all your clothes off?"

The suspected john: No answer.

The cop: "Are you aware that there were sex acts being done here?"

The suspected john: "No sir."

The woman, who was from mainland China, denied masturbating the suspected john but when the question was repeated became nervous and replied, "I don't know I only come to work today," the cop's notes show.
nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more eh gov;ner

His notes also claim he saw the "female dump wet Kleenex into garbage."

In the interview with the Sun, the officer said: "I asked him for his wallet and I looked at his name and I looked at the last name and it looked familiar.

He's registered as 'John' and I thought he's a 'john.'"

Layton's Christian name is John.

Posted by: wnmc at April 30, 2011 7:23 PM

Of course it is a community clinic. It specializes in treating erectile dysfunction, known in old Tranna as (No)Jack-in-the-box Syndrome. Actually, Jack meant to say "communicable clinic'.

Posted by: Skip at April 30, 2011 7:24 PM

Has it ever been made public....and if not has that politician come out since that time? If not then dont bother mentioning.

As fo their being a videotape....its been 16 years. I doubt they still have the tape if it even existed. Wouldnt the cops have seized that stuff when they raided?

Finally...the issue is always how they handle the problem. referring to it as a community clinic now looks lik e he is disemmbling, which he is....and that ultimatley will be what does him in. The place was raided and raided again. It wasnt just a community clinic....he may have THOUGHT it was, but that will cut to judgement.

By the way, what massage clinic did he attend when he no longer went to this one?

Posted by: Stephen at April 30, 2011 7:25 PM

Jackie cops to it? "community clinic?" BWAHAHAHA!!!!

His only faint hope in hell would have been to brazen it out. "Yeah I got a "massage". So?"

But true to every piece of weasel DNA in his skanky little weasel body, Jack has to go for the cover-up. So now we have caught, PLUS lying about it.

Man, this just keeps getting better and better. When do we get to see footage of the now all-grown-up "therapist" filling us in on the details of her therapeutic technique?

Fair point. But wouldnt the cops have seized the videotape, if it existed, when they raided?

I took the cops comments more as a warning to the frightened Mr Layton.

But as I said, its now about the lying, which leaves him open to blackmail. I agree, his best statement would not be denial or shading the truth. He isnt disputing the facts in the Cops report book. Naked, lying on his back, the amazon asian woman lying beside him.

So people can draw their own conclusions. But its the clintonesque shading of languae that will do him in. If this had been leaked by pros it would have been done 3 days earlier.....more time for invetigation and to let it burn in.

I never liked NDP policies (at all). As for Jack - sure, as marxist as I could imagine and someone I'd disagree with virulently - but still, I had some respect for him. Say what you will, he had the convictions of his beliefs and stood by them.
It's sort of like how I despise Gilles Duceppe, but still admire him as a savvy politician (say what you will about Gilles - but he knows exactly who to pander to, and when; Which surprises me about the Bloc being so soft on the idea that the NDP even posed a threat to them. "What? All someone has to do is come into Quebec and promise the world to get a vote? Who knew?!").

And this? This frosts the cake, so to speak. I didn't like the NDP's policies, but I really didn't mind Jack, personally. I guess it comes down to the fact that perhaps I didn't really KNOW Jack.

Epic fail, Jack. Sorry. You can hashtag that however you like.

But I'm pretty sure that Jacko was just there at 1:32 am learning/teaching the gal how to do the hand jive.

"The Hand jive is a dance particularly associated with rock and roll and rhythm and blues music of the 1950s. It involves a complicated pattern of hand moves and claps at various parts of the body, following and/or imitating the percussion instruments. It resembles a highly elaborate version of Pat-a-cake. Hand moves include thigh slapping, cross-wrist slapping, fist pounding, hand clapping, and hitch hike moves" - From wiki hand jive

Gee, I wonder if the size of the played with instrument makes a difference?

There is one way this could be put to rest one way or the other.

Many workplaces, in their health benefit packages, allows someone to claim massages (up to a certain amount). All Layton has to do, or a reporter has to ask, is where is the receipt for the RMT claim (provide that is available in the benefit package at that time for city councilors)?

Indeed, it's like a soap opera.(popcorn and beer time)
I keep reading people who state that the raid occurred after regular business hours but there is never any reference to a reliable source.
If we can't get a link to a reliable source I think we should drop the claim that this liaison occurred after regular business hours because it could spell trouble after the election.
Olivia Chow claims it was a regular appointment with Jack.
Where is the appointment book and how many appointments did Jack attend?

At least the woman in question is Carson's girlfriend. Presumably, Jack didn't even know -- well, wasn't acquainted with -- the girl in the massage parlour with whom he was involved.

Taliban JackLaytoNDP scandal has legs. Indeed!

It’s gone viral.

Councillor says, “and Jack was very smart.” That’s past tense. Now Jack has lost his credibilty forever.

Layton has sunk himself into notoriety and will not recover.

“T.O. councillor skeptical of Layton story”

“TORONTO – The Velvet Touch Massage parlour — where NDP Leader Jack Layton was found during a 1996 police visit — was suspected to be a bawdy house since it opened, Toronto Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti said.

The massage parlour in the city’s Chinatown neighbourhood, which ceased operations down shortly after the police came calling, opened in 1994 and was among 26 suspected bawdy houses Toronto Police cracked down on with more than 300 charges.

Layton has denied any wrongdoing and said he did not know it was a suspected bawdy house.

Despite the Velvet Touch being a “pretty active illicit” operation, no one at Toronto City Hall received any complaints about it, Mammoliti said.

“I’ve asked recently if anyone at City Hall had complained in 1996 and there were no complaints that came out of councillors, but police had their eye on it, and at the end of the day, shut it down,” Mammoliti said.

“I can pretty much guarantee wherever there’s a rub-and-tug, it’s run by organized crime, and drugs are always a part of the equation. That’s just a reality of the business.”

As for his thoughts on Layton being caught in the room with an attractive 5-foot-10 Asian woman, he said he doesn’t buy that the NDP leader didn’t know it was a place where he could get sexual services.

“He’s claiming he got a legitimate massage, but the issue here is it’s clear it was a rub-and-tug and most people in society would know that when they go in. I’d be very surprised that a very smart politician would not have known … and Jack was very smart.”

At the time, police were targeting massage parlours using underage girls from Thailand.

On Twitter, there was mixed reaction, especially from women.

“I’m surprised by politicians’ tweets saying Layton visit to alleged bawdyhouse is no big deal; respect 4 women is overlooked by the tweets,” wrote lawyer Cyndee Law.

But Kimberly Hussey called the allegations an attack on Layton.

“All the women I know will be voting for him. He was getting a massage by RMT (registered massage therapist),” she said.”

Posted by: maz2 at April 30, 2011 9:20 PM

Jack Layton just said at his press conference in Burnaby "I went for a massage to the community clinic" .
How does the media take this twist? A community clinic???

Earlier Olivia said Jack went to a "registered massage clinic" - Jack said it was a "massage parlour" and the Police said it was a "bawdy house" and now it is a "community clinic" - more questions needing more answers.
Why were you naked?
Community clinic on Dundas Street???

Posted by: Peterb at April 30, 2011 9:23 PM

But Kimberly Hussey called the allegations an attack on Layton.
“All the women I know will be voting for him. He was getting a massage by RMT (registered massage therapist),” she said.”

RMT, really?
Everybody who works in a common bawdy house is an "inmate of a common bawdy house"(illegal designation) and Kimberly Hussey claims Jack's attendent was a Registered Massage Therapist which requires 2 years of schooling and would lose that registration forever if she was busted as an inmate of a common bawdy house?
Prove that Kimberly because it makes no sense.(the police documents say the place was raided as a common bawdy house 2 weeks prior to the bust that netted Jack)

Posted by: Oz at April 30, 2011 9:42 PM

What's as troubling as all the unanswered questions -- and the fact of what appears to be Jack's and Olivia's coverup of the facts -- is the media's duplicity in keeping this story under wraps for so long.

If organized crime is involved, which appears is the case, and the exploitation of vulnerable immigrant Asian women, not to mention an elected official availing himself of illicit sex in a bawdy house, then keeping all of this hush-hush, because Jack is a left-lib politician, is despicable. The media seem to become accessories to the crime.

Now, if this were a CPC politician, these facts would have been exposed at the time and there'd have been Hell to pay for the Conservatives. All of the faux scandals the media have manufactured involving the CPC utterly pale in comparison to Jackgate.

Posted by: batb at April 30, 2011 9:43 PM

Jack is starting to tangle his web. This was not a community clinic, not by a longshot. Jack wrote a book titled 'Homelessness". I haven't read it but I think that he and Olivia were regulars in that neighbourhood, talking to and helping the homeless. He should have known what was what.

well, for one thing nobody can hold this over Jack's head (the one on his shoulders, not the other one) since it's all over the net now.

he only needs to be concerned if there were other times he was present during visits from the cops. or the videotape thing.

The details being presented in this case suggest some inappropriate behavior has taken place.

Now perhaps it's Jack just being a horned up owl, on the prowl, and that's bad enough!

More distressing is the almost universal rabid support he's receiving from the masses. Immorality apparently means nothing anymore! In fact, many see it as a badge of honour (misplaced, to be sure).

Whether at 1:30 a.m. or 9:30 pm. it's unlikely he'd be going for a therapeutic massage at those time. What a lot of BS, and still being covered up. Double standard indeed.

Jack/John, who is this guy really to have lived in subsidized housing with his wife and both of them Toronto politicians?

here is an interesting tidbit:

On July 9, 1988, he(Jack) married Hong Kong-born Toronto District School Board trustee Olivia Chow in a ceremony on Algonquin Island. Their whitewater rafting honeymoon plans had to be abandoned, however, when days before the wedding Layton collided with a newspaper box while bicycling.

Again with the bicycle!

If Jack Layton stands for anything, it should be the need to licence bicycles

Get to know what the media looks like as they do their back and forth with one another.

This whole Layton story has them all very aroused.

How does one prevent Drippers from last-minute, door-to-door, glad-handing in one's neighbourhood?

Hang a couple of Kleenex from the mail box or slot/picture window/porch light ..... and, remember - wetter is better!

If you're havin' trouble with your town hall gal/
She's givin' you the blues/
You wanna shiatsu but only in a bed/
Here's what you gotta do/
Get on your bike, go for a ride/
We’re open way past nine/
Go up the stairs, turn to the right, hey
Support a life of crime!

Dirty Deeds on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds done on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds done on Dundas Street

You got problems in your life of love/
You got a broken heart/
It’s hurts as much as your ol’ pulled goin/
That's when shiatsu starts, well-uh/
Take off your clothes, and see how it grows/
Soon the time’ll be right/
Break out the oil and a tissue box,
And wait for that Green Light!

Dirty Deeds on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds done on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds done on Dundas Street

You thank the lady and she wants you gone/
But you still got no clothes/
Her job is over and it’s running late/
Just need to blow your nose/
In come the cops, your blood pressure drops/
When’d that red light come on?/
You didn’t know this was a nasty place
Get on your bike and be gone, hey

Dirty Deeds on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds done on Dundas Street
Dirty Deeds done on Dundas Street

Orange Crush
Dundas Street
Ooo, Kleenex
High anxiety!
Done dirt cheap, eah

I also thought that transmitting poll results within 48 hours of the election was illegal, but I looked up the Canada Elections Act, and this is not true. I, like you, believe it was illegal a few years back, but that section has apparently been repealed.

What's really amazing, and again, completely unreported by the MSM, is the total collapse of the Green vote. In the last election, they received nearly 7% of the total vote; now, according to Nanos, they are down to 3.1%, and are only above 5% in, predictably, BC.

Finally, I checked a bunch of web sites. Shiatsu does not require you to be naked, does not involve any oils, and requires training. I have had a few professional massages from RMT's (not Shiatsu) - I was always told to leave my underwear on, the room was always very brightly lit, and there were no big signs saying "MASSAGE" outside - the business signs said "Physiotherapy - RMT" or similar.

Whoever leaked this now may have done Canada a very big favour.

Posted by: JDN at May 1, 2011 1:42 AM

it's late so forgive me.
this one is for Eskimo and the CRTC:

You get a shiver in the dark
You’re cycling through the park but meantime
South of your beltline you hold everything
A sign is blinking ‘Shiatsu’ double four time
You feel all tight as you make the doorbell ring

And now you step inside but you don't see too many faces
Comin' in out of the snow to drop your pants on down
Competition in other places?
They ignore the horns they don’t get the ‘rounds’
Like on upstairs, upstairs, in Chinatown.

You check out Shiatsu Sue, she knows what to do
but she’s strictly rhythm she doesn't wanna make you cry or sing
Yes and a ol’ kimono is all she can afford
Then she gets the green light to play his thing

And Johnny doesn't mind, when gets to vent his spleen,
He's got a daytime job, he's doin' alright
He can play the honky tonk like anything
Savin' it up for Friday night
He is the Sultan... He is the Sultan of Schwing!

And now a crowd of young cops they're inspecting every dark corner
Opening doors collecting Kleenex in baggies and saving souls
They do give a damn about those trumpet playing hands
But only if they see them on the pole
Of the Sultan... Yeah on the Sultan’s wee peole

And then The Man steps right into the ‘bed’ room
And says at last as the Red light shines in
'Goodnight, now it's time to go home'
'And make it fast' and says one more thing
'You were the Sultan.. Now you’re just Sulkin’ on a Schwinn...’

Here's a reality check for the CBC: go tell your wife or girlfriend you will be getting a massage at the Velvet Touch massage parlour.

You will be getting a massage alright, but it will be on the side of the head with a number 4 cast iron frying pan.

It was a private "massage clinic" -- pffft yeah right! I'll bet the under age prostitution, drugs and gambling were simply a front to distract Jack from the stuff in the back he'd find really objectionable -- knee arthroscopies.

From the Montreal Gazette:

"The result of this election hinges on the last thoughts going through voters' minds before casting their ballots on Monday, the results of a poll on voter stability suggest.

Poll results have been indicating support for the NDP is climbing consistently. But with 61 per cent of those polled saying they might change their mind before election day, the "orange wave" could either turn into a tidal wave or prove to be little more than a ripple.

"The NDP is unique," said Conrad Winn, president of the polling company COMPAS. "It'll be feast or famine for them on Monday.""

This must be STRAIGHT FROM THE TORY PLAYBOOK because I saw it used during the mayoral election in my hometown of Sudbury.

On the FRIDAY BEFORE THE ELECTION, the Conservatives used an ‘ANONYMOUS source’ to release some vague & ancient piece of information about their labour opponent through the Conservative-run SUN MEDIA outlet. Then the OPP racket squad was called in to investigate the leak/make it disappear.

This LEAVES NO TIME to actually investigate the SMEAR. It should be illegal. Why does the media enable this?

Posted by: Luther Blissette at May 1, 2011 1:10 PM

Also the comments on this page that are both fake feminist and South Park sarcastic say way more about the Tory base than anything else I have seen.

One question - why release decade old information this on the freaking Friday before and election?

It was a scummy move.

Posted by: Luther Blissett at May 1, 2011 1:13 PM

Desperate political parties do desperate things. Most desperate right now ?? Liberals, of course. This caper was easy for them as their buds in the media have known all the details, documents for some time now - Coyne, kinsella, ect.

Posted by: ron in kelowna ∴ at May 1, 2011 1:34 PM

Luther you have a little reading comprehension problem don't you?

Posted by: ChrisinMB at May 1, 2011 1:37 PM

[.....At the very least why wasn't he charged with being a suspected or alleged John?.....]

Because there is some merit to the old saw "You can't fight City Hall." Or for a street cop...."do so at your peril"....."all animals are equal but some are more equal than others."

A BC Premier in Hawaii is just another DUI BC he gets quietly driven home.....

While I am worldly enough to not get too excited about this faux pas of Layton.....I do concede that mine is a minority opinion.

Because my political choice is solid this has little or no influence on how I will vote.....or any other decided voters....such as Luther......the swing vote is quite another matter.

Despite the MSM attempts to rebury is going viral.....and politically explosive...probably by the cover-up attempt..."Watergate syndrome".

The nature of this matter (sex scandal) will inspire many voyeurs to investigate further....making cover-up attempts futile.

It is not a baseless is a valid revelation.......

It is a game changer.

I agree with Steyn...this has LPC written all over's their style....too much scrutiny present for the Tories....

Sas, yesterday hubby googled Jack Layton and the story was in top spot today I googled Jack Layton and not a whiff about this story however someone's been busy getting all the positive articles about Jack at the top of the google page. Yes it has Liberals written all over it, the NDP are pro-legalized sex trade industry so they have no votes to lose.

This may explain why Jack Layton thought he was at a "community clinic":

The fact that Jack Laytoon is a sleazy little pr!ck is NOT News.

Velvet Touch - A Community Clinic - Who Knew????

Olivia Chow was quick to release a written statement, that husband Jack Layton indeed did attend a "registered massage clinic" and she was well aware of it and he "needed a massage" late in the evening.
Jack Layton, later at a rally in Burnaby, was quick to point out and clarify Olivia's comment, that in fact it was a "community clinic" (Velvet Touch - good name) where he obtained his services. In trying to protect his political career, and in tune with the NDP philosophy, he felt it very important to stress it was a "community clinic" not to be confused with a private clinic. It was essential in the middle of this election, to inform Canadians, in order to solicit their support, he wouldn't be caught dead at a private clinic, a for profit health care facility, where illegal, underage, Asian sex workers, would be employed by rip off artists, in the Canadian health care field - it would have to be a community clinic he patronizes - there should be no confusion. The reason that it was late at night that he was there, we would also assume was that he didn't jump the queue, but waited his turn. A good leader leads by example.
I wonder if Canadians becoming more aware of the fine details of the NDP health care platform and of Layton's expansion of health care services to include these "community clinics", help explain the surge in support for the NDP in this current election. Does anybody in the main street media have a better explanation for the NDP surge and why are they reluctant to discuss this NDP expansion of Canada's health services?
Why and how could the Toronto city police confuse a community clinic with a bawdy house?

Posted by: james at May 1, 2011 5:38 PM

BTW anyone calling this a smear or whatever is out to lunch completely. Jack seems to think this is no big deal. Nothing wrong with being caught buck naked face up on a bed in a community clinic massage parlour known for illicit sex trade activities. So how is this a smear to report on that then? Jack and his wife say it's ok so they think nothing is wrong here. That's not a smear.

Posted by: Ray11 at May 1, 2011 8:30 PM

So Jack is in the parlour, looking for relief,
Olivia's with her lawyer, drawing up a brief;

Michael's in the studio, the voters to invoke,
Gilles is on the radio, the Anglos to provoke;

Stephen's at the podium, prognosticating doom,
Lizzie's filled with odium,(pollution we presume);

The rest of us are wary, what might the future hold?
It's all been pretty scary, what horrors yet be told?

The dawn comes up like thunder, just like old Rudyard said;
And we are made to wonder, and we are wont to dread;

For we know that it's folly, and we know just what it cost,
And we know for sure, by golly, that it's all of us who lost.

Wacko Jacko lived in taxpayer-subsidized housing until he was caught. No surprise that Wackoff Jackoff wanted taxpayers to pay for his "massage therapy" under medicare. He's a typical NDP thief like sticky fingers Svend and shoplifter Lorne Nystrom.
