Coyne really doesn't like getting scooped, does he?

Posted by: Waterhouse at April 29, 2011 10:24 PM

One of these "twits" ask why people would get into politics with this kind of smear going on. I would wonder why anyone would enter a massage parlour and strip naked in front of a woman who is barely dressed herself, when one is a politician. Or a married man, or ... anyone! Well, we all know why, don't we?

Posted by: larben at April 29, 2011 10:32 PM

The media is reporting on this. CTV,SunNews, theToronto Star even.CBC,well not yet, possibly on Tuesday.

Posted by: wallyj at April 29, 2011 10:33 PM

Waterhouse - you can say that again - really none of them do - quite telling actually how they are dealing with this. We all know how they would be handling it, including Andrew Coyne - if this had been Harper.

Posted by: Alberta Girl at April 29, 2011 10:33 PM

Jack the naked dipper will whither in the Sun. We hope this is the last we see of him.

Great Juxtapose, Kate

Posted by: WalterF at April 29, 2011 10:34 PM

Andrew Coyne:

"...doing (in THEORY, I stress) that as a voter I'd want to know about. But this clearly isn't one of them, and somebody at Sun should..."

I wish I had the first clue what he's saying. Can't parse that at all.

Anybody?

Posted by: EBD at April 29, 2011 10:35 PM

Is Coyne functionally Twitter illiterate?

Posted by: A. Cooper at April 29, 2011 10:35 PM

It's part of a multi-tweet essay.

Posted by: Kate at April 29, 2011 10:39 PM

It's not a very long clip, but there's video of the masseuse now online. Looks pretty young to me.

Coyne is the grand master of self-aggrandizing bullshit. Great post Kate.

Posted by: steve at April 29, 2011 10:40 PM

Scratch a man rabidly in favor of a woman's right to choose -- Bill Clinton, Jack Layton, John Edwards and find what?

Posted by: Manitoba Moose at April 29, 2011 10:41 PM

Andycanuck, you are a bad man. Two thumbs up.

Posted by: wallyj at April 29, 2011 10:42 PM

With Layton's first name being Jack this story is going to be making the rounds of comedy clubs across the nation for months to come. As Jerry Seinfeld's comedy club associate Kenny Banya liked to say about a good comedy line, "It's gold, Jerry! Gold!"

Posted by: Dennis at April 29, 2011 10:43 PM

It moved, Jerry. It moved.

Posted by: george costanza at April 29, 2011 10:44 PM

They said she is 26 or was 26. If she looks young now than she would be 16/17 years older now. Depends when the picture was taken I guess. Many oriental girls of course, don't show their age like ...well, me.

Posted by: larben at April 29, 2011 10:44 PM

If it was Harper kady and coyne would be all over it.

Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at April 29, 2011 10:48 PM

Where's Catsmeat?

Posted by: Manitoba Moose at April 29, 2011 10:48 PM

Dennis, should be easy. All the jokes have already been written here for the comics by SDA commenters.

Posted by: PiperPaul at April 29, 2011 10:49 PM

I remember how the mainstream media obsessed over Max Bernier's ex-girlfriend because she allegedly knew some bikers and how her relationship with Max ended on a sour note. If the MSM don't jump all over this story about Layton, it only proves what a pack of hypocrites they are. Spare me the inevitable crying over how this intrudes into Jack's private (or privates? I just can't help it now!) life. They didn't give a hoot about Bernier's privacy.

Posted by: Dennis at April 29, 2011 10:49 PM

Shorter Andrew Coyne: I'll tell you if a story involving (at best) Jack Layton's unbelievably-poor judgement is important.

Posted by: Waterhouse at April 29, 2011 10:50 PM

"Welcome to the party Coyne!"

Posted by: John McClane at April 29, 2011 10:50 PM

Shouldn't this story be Parliamentary Reader's Tips?

No jokes about Jack's use of the Black Rod, please.

Posted by: Manitoba Moose at April 29, 2011 10:50 PM

Another tweet between @ACoyne & @Kady:

"I guess all i can say is I'd rather be caught naked in a massage parlour than fully clothed working for SunNews."

The goddamn contempt these Ottawa hacks have for ordinary people and conservatives is unbelievable! And remember were paying these journolistas wages!

Posted by: daveinguelph at April 29, 2011 10:51 PM

Was it covered by OHIP?

Posted by: andycanuck at April 29, 2011 10:51 PM

Cynthia Dale, Wendy Mesley and Peter Mansbridge were unavailable for comment.

Posted by: Manitoba Moose at April 29, 2011 10:52 PM

GWB's DUI in the 2000 election - the left ate it up. Now? How does the crow taste?

Posted by: Manitoba Moose at April 29, 2011 10:55 PM

This sort of filth is to be expected from Kady, but I thought Coyne was a better person.

So much for my MacLean's renewal. I was dubious in any case after Steyn was dropped.

Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at April 29, 2011 10:57 PM

And if they can find her and she admits that something did happen, just makes Jack a liar, and possibly Olivia a liar a well.

And this isnt to get all moral on him.

Point to media, this guy is unexamined. Ignatieff was right for once, Layton was getting a free ride.

Posted by: Stephen at April 29, 2011 10:57 PM

Layton is Boo-Berry to Iggy's Count Chocula.

Posted by: Manitoba Moose at April 29, 2011 10:58 PM
Layton was getting a free ride.

I don't know about that.

Posted by: andycanuck at April 29, 2011 11:01 PM

I just went over to Coyne's twitter page; I've lost what respect I had for him (I never had any for Jack I don't think). He's actually insisting this is a non-story, and those idiots at Sun TV would never have reported it if they had any "news judgement ... But then if they were about news or judgment they wouldn't be Sun, would they?"

And if this were about Harper he'd feel the same way?

Posted by: Black Mamba at April 29, 2011 11:07 PM

Hmm. The cop couldn't identify Layton by sight; I wonder if he could pick out a photo of Susan Eng?

Posted by: andycanuck at April 29, 2011 11:15 PM

Doesn't "multi tweet essay" deny the intended medium?

Posted by: A. Cooper at April 29, 2011 11:21 PM

Lloyd and Fifer reluctantly mentioned the 'incident', allowing Jack! to call it a smear campaign.

Posted by: bluetech at April 29, 2011 11:23 PM

The left wing media will rally behind Jerk...(sorry....Freudian slip)....Jack Layton to cover for him. They will be all over Sun News. BUT if this were Harper we were talking about, there would be absolute wild left wing outrage cranked out a full volume.

The left has been given a free ride for too long. Time for them to taste their own medicine.

On another matter, it appears according to Nanos that the NDP "surge" has run out of steam as is poised to back off. The latest shows once again that Harper is back above Layton in the Leadership Index.

Here is me thinking multiculturalism meant more pavilions at folkfest.

Posted by: john h at April 29, 2011 11:28 PM

The old media is so used to drinking their own bath water that they don't know how to handle SunNews.

FoxNews used to and still does attract the same critics. No matter, they are the most watched cable news in the US.

Give SunNews 1-2 years and they will be number 1 in Canada and the rest of Pravda media still won't have figured out why.

Posted by: Frank Q. at April 29, 2011 11:29 PM

You can't always trust the Urban dictionary, but then again,--- http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=layton

Coyne says he's thought things through and is compelled to vote... Liberal! What a surprise! But he's not biased in any way, just ask him. Funny how the taxpayer subsidized MSM lefty drones can manufacture "stories" out of thin air, and then talk, and write about them for months like, "busty hookers" and "bags of cocaine" even when the "busty hookers' and "bags of cocaine" don't exist, but when it comes to one of their own leaders being rounded up in a whore house they immediately circle the wagons and declare there's nothing to see hear. What, not imaginary enough for you Coyne? Bloody corrupt hypocrites!

Posted by: Sean M at April 29, 2011 11:34 PM

It's a smear campaign, alright, it was smeared all over.. from this day on he is Jack Layanything to me.

Posted by: Barbara at April 29, 2011 11:40 PM

CBC has the story on their website. It has been sanitized and is on the way to being buried like a dirty tissue. The story did not make the Canada section. It has been put up in the politics section and is not even the lead story. That belongs to the evil Harper being endorsed by the almost as evil Ford.

Posted by: wallyj at April 29, 2011 11:44 PM

Does anyone know whatever happened to Andrew Coyne?

Posted by: Frank Q. at April 29, 2011 11:50 PM

CBC does NOT have this story up in their Toronto section.WOW,the one region that should have this news, will not get it from the always unbiased ( I know, because they told me so) CBC.

Posted by: wallyj at April 29, 2011 11:51 PM

rise up, rise Up, Rise Up, RISE UP JACK

...Iggy channeling Jack!

Posted by: old duffer at April 29, 2011 11:56 PM

"Does anyone know whatever happened to Andrew Coyne?"

He calculates the GST for the MSM, and crusades on other issues that affect the Parliamentary Press Gallery. You little people complaining can go freeze in the dark.

Posted by: Manitoba Moose at April 29, 2011 11:59 PM

Sooo..... Judy Sgro's 'immigration' shenanigans get a high 5 from Jackaroo?

Posted by: Snagglepuss at April 30, 2011 12:04 AM

CBC has had the story up for about 1 hour 15 minutes. They are allowing comments, but it seems that they won't publish any. At this time, zero comments are up.Perhaps some one here should go there and write one trashing Sun Media aka 'Fox News North, and see if it gets printed. I would do it myself, but I'm pretty sure that all my comments are held until a senior editor can look them over.

Posted by: wallyj at April 30, 2011 12:14 AM

Well jacks rub and tug went viral, and i'm not talking about the news story.

Posted by: Zing! at April 30, 2011 12:16 AM

CBC now has the story up in their
Toronto section.Still zero comments printed.

Posted by: wallyj at April 30, 2011 12:18 AM

It's part of a multi-tweet essay.

What a ridiculous concept, multiple twits tweeting. Small things, small minds.

Posted by: fiddle at April 30, 2011 12:21 AM

How much do you think a video of EJackULayton at the "massage" parlor would be worth to the Chinese government. If he was caught there once, most likely he went there numerous times and the triads are just too good at business to pass up an opportunity to film a politician. If Taliban Jack comes anywhere close to power in Canada, then the Chinese would have significant influence over him and I'm surprised no-one has brought this up yet, especially on Sun News.

This makes him a major security risk and thus bringing this up at this point in the election is a very valid point.

Posted by: loki at April 30, 2011 12:50 AM

From the comments at the CBC: "Congrats to Sun Media and the Tories for just sealing a victory for the NDP.."

What interesting minds they have.

Posted by: Black Mamba at April 30, 2011 1:08 AM

The little boy was right.

The emperor really has no clothes.

Posted by: foobert at April 30, 2011 1:20 AM

I'm leery of giving the polling companies too much credit. A high percentage of voters now have cell phones or unlisted numbers for their landlines. If they're like me, they will give out a generic email address, for survey purposes, but not their phone number. Some of the polling companies demand a phone number.

As for Layton's massage 'therapist' escapade, nobody is more prone to do character assassinations than NDP party insiders, who tend to eat their own. Indignant protestations, notwithstanding.
