Posted by Kate at April 21, 2011 11:11 AMEarle had a chance to “be Mark Steyn,” but chose to remain a confused liberal, even donating some money to a gay charity in an attempt at atonement. It didn’t do him any good, as we see now [and as we all told him at the time.]
Why we need a CPC majority so we can fire each and every one of the skanky morons who work for the various HRC's across the land and close them all down for practicing Terminal Stupidity.
We do not need Kangaroo courts in Canada.
Our society is becoming sicker everyday.

As for Earle, it's sad that the dude learned the hard way that in the PC world there's no grovelling your way back over the line you just crossed. He offended someone in the second-to-top PC-protected group - GBLT - whom are trumped only by Muslims.

Posted by: Robert at April 21, 2011 12:39 PMMy sympathy for Earle is compromised because he’s been (is?) an idiot.
I was actually at one of his fund raisers a couple of years ago and gave him a generous donation. I also had a straightforward talk with him about the larger agenda of the HRCs and described to him how very dangerous they are. He didn’t seem to get it at all. It seems he’s a rather brain dead lefty. So, if he thought appeasing his hissy-fit, entitled defendants and tyrannical Star Chamber opponents would work, he’s found out the hard way that that’s not how it works.
If, after being “mugged by reality”, Earle still hasn’t learned that leftism is a crock, he deserves—well almost—what he got. (And no more donations from me to help him pay either!)
You're living in a pipe dream if you think a CPC majority will clean house.
Nothing will change. Fact of life in Ottawa.

Earle is an idiot.
Posted by: Abe Froman at April 21, 2011 1:28 PMAnother fine example of how far the HRCs have wondered into the lala land of the regressive progressive left. I hope he appeals this decision to a real court of law.
Posted by: Rose at April 21, 2011 1:46 PMOld military axiom: always be ready to reinforce success even when it shows itself at a
most unlikely time in a most unlikely place.
This case by contrast, is no "Bridge at Remagen" but might have good potential in a real
court to call off the excessive and punitive monetary penalties which are the stock in trade
of the nationwide HRC/HRT nest of vipers.
He needs to attend the next hearing in blackface and giant afro wig dressed like a dyke jump up on the desk drop his pants and do his routine with added confetti, ooga horns and hand buzzers, get it on video a la Ezra.
Admit he's wrong and tell everybody he's now a pre-operative dyke of colour and make the whole thing into a George Carlin "10 words you can't" thing, like "10 people not allowed an opinion".
Or quit and work for the gubmint like every other putz.
The BCHRT has done more to promote hatred/resentment towards "marginalized" groups, particularly, the Lesbian/Gay community through their elevating a Gay/Lesbian persons dignity, feelings, and self-respect above all other persons dignity, feelings and self respect.
If the BCHRT really cared about all persons dignity, feelings and self-respect, they would not have obliterated Earle's by accusing him of being a homophobic bigot and intimidating him for years, threatening and negatively impacting his very livelihood, and utterly destroying his reputation.
Pardy and Bloomgrove were feeling no pain at the time of the heckling, they were drunk - the PTSD claim is ridiculous. If anyone has a valid claim for PTSD, it's Earle - he has been tyrannized, as described above, publicly for an extended period.
The BCHRT is an agent provocateur of hate. It's true that "no giant anti-lesbian pogrom broke out after Guy Earle’s stupid comments" however, the same can not be said for the BCHRT's stupid decision. I suspect the BCHRT has created resentment towards the lesbian community in persons that hitherto did not exist as a direct result of their highly punitive, bias and discriminatory decision against Earle.
I am thinking that Earle's lawyer(s)advised him to make a donation to the gay community to help his defense and he complied due to the PTSD he is suffering on account of Pardy's, Bloomgroves, and the BCHRT's sustained emotional, mental, and financial abuse. Few can withstand sustained torture and interrogation without submitting-the BCHRT knows this-it's their most effective tactic as both Ezra and Mark have pointed out.
Section 13 belongs in file 13 and must be so filed without hesitation. This is a truly archaic evil tyrannical piece of pseudo-legislation that is destroying Canada's reputation internationally. Cannibalism for profit-what a legacy.

If he owns real estate, fine, they can seize it,but if he doesn't and opts to NOT pay up,what can/will they do?
I can't see them sending him to prison.
Whether the guy is an asshole or not is immaterial, he has a right to fire back at hecklers who are disrupting his act.

An old cowboy dressed to kill with a cowboy shirt, hat, jeans,
spurs, and chaps went to a bar and ordered a drink.
As he sat sipping his whiskey, a young lady sat down next to him.
After she ordered her drink, she turned to the cowboy and asked
him, "Are you a real cowboy?" To which he replied, "Well, I have
spent my whole life on the ranch, herding cows, breaking horses,
mending fences. I guess I am."
After a short while, he asked her what she was.
She replied, "I am a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about
women. As soon as I get up in the morning I think of women, when I
eat, shower, watch TV, everything seems to make me think of
women."
A short while later she left and the cowboy ordered another drink.
A couple sat down next to him and asked, "Are you a real cowboy?"
To which he replied, "I always thought I was, but I just found out
that I'm a lesbian."

Heather invited her mother over for dinner. During the meal, her
mother couldn't help noticing how beautiful Heather's roommate
was.
She had long been suspicious of Heather's sexuality and this only
made her more curious.
Over the course of the evening, while watching the two women
interact, she started to wonder if there was more between Heather
and the roommate than met the eye. Reading her mom's thoughts,
Heather volunteered, "I know what you must be thinking, but I
assure you, Suzy and I are just roommates."
About a week later, Suzy came to Heather and said, "Ever since
your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the beautiful
silver gravy ladle. You don't suppose she took it, do you?"
Heather said, "Well, I doubt it, but I'll write her a letter just
to be sure." So she sat down and wrote: "Dear Mother, I'm not
saying you 'did' take a gravy ladle from my house, and I'm not
saying you 'did not' take a gravy ladle. But the fact remains that
one has been missing ever since you were here for dinner."
Several days later, Heather received a letter from her mother
which read: "Dear Daughter, I'm not saying that you 'do' sleep
with Suzy, and I'm not saying that you 'do not' sleep with Suzy.
But the fact remains that if she was sleeping in her own bed, she
would have found the gravy ladle by now."

Just so you all know:
Earle never showed up at the tribunal.
His lawyer already took the question of the HRT in terms of jurisdiction etc. to the supreme court, and the HRT defied the supreme court's request.

2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
(a) freedom of conscience and religion;
(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
(c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
(d) freedom of association.
Except of course when you need them...
Yep, you have a whole freakin' truckload of freedom provided you have $1,000,000 in legal fees to protect them.

Amazing the way "left leaning socialists" can rationalize their own destruction. It's reminiscent of Solzhenitsyn's description of a hard core communist academic in the gulag. Solzhenitsyn compared reasoning with one of these characters to walking through a desert. Poor Earle, I sent money to his defence fund, and I do hope he's cleared eventually, but he just doesn't "get it". He's fighting to buy his way into serfdom.

As I understand it, Earle is a broke dick. He has no money, nothing nada, he is a stone that the tribunal and the fat lesbians will get nothing from.
What will happen? probably not much, but Earle's life (for what it's worth) is shattered.

More laughable than Earle's comedy poutine (not a typo) his act is cheesy.

Not a chance in hell.
Posted by: djb at April 21, 2011 7:54 PMIn the last 4-5 weeks, I have had the CPC call me for donations on at least a dozen occasions, likely because I've supported them in the past.
Most of the callers were surprised to learn that I will no longer contribute to the CPC until PMSH abolishes section 13(1) of the HRA, and disbands the provincial kangaroo courts and tribunals.
Some of the canvassers were interested enough in my POV to have a rational discussion about the topic, and three even took notes and promised to pass my thoughts on these fascist HRCs up the chain; I suppose the few who showed interest wanted to ascertain whether I was just a crackpot or knew what I was talking about, but those three actually came around to agreeing wholeheartedly that the HRCs should go.
Now, if more of the loyal SDA readers did exactly the same, I think we'd actually accomplish something.

Did anyone notice that the BCHRC/T must make a decision on it's jurisdiction to even hear this case?
Guy Earle had already quashed the BCHRC/T in BC 'real' Court!
I leave you with a superior comment that helps you understand the global connect all of the HRC/T's have with non-Canadian influence.. (no, not my comment.. I'm a comment fan..)

All bureaucracies world wide now report to the UN. Maybe not in a hierarchical structure but as far as intent and "best practices". Every portfolio or department in national government has a UN department affiliated with it. This is how the EU was formed. It's called creep. First the UN is there in an "advisory" capacity, paper flows back and forth. Then the UN suggests that it would really help if the paper were in a standard format so all the forms change to an international standard. Then the UN suggests it would be helpful if you attend their twice a year meetings with delegates of other countries. A perk! International travel! The national bureaucrat swans off to London, Frankfurt or Rome to have face time with like minded international bureaucrats. While there he is wined and dined and at the end of the meeting the stakeholders decide that they should all try to achieve a certain goal. It's totally voluntary. The national bureaucrat signs up. He goes back to his little backwater and starts implementing the goal. Meanwhile the international travel continues and he starts to feel more at home with his international buddies than the people he serves. More ideas are passed along down the line, more pledges signed until a point comes when they all decide that the best way to continue is to ignore national governments. Democracy is so messy when you try to implement something.
