Any Time, Jack's Place

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!

Michael Ignatieff, Apr.1 - "Canadians truly deserve to see us go face to face in a contest of ideas, values and very different visions for our country. That is what democracy is all about."

Montreal Gazette, Apr.1 - If Canadians find themselves being governed by a Liberal-NDP-Bloc Québécois coalition following the May election [...] Only 27 per cent of the poll's respondents said they'd want Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff to be top dog, compared with .... 59 per cent who said Layton.

Does Mr. Ignatieff remind anyone else of Bagdad Bob?

Strange............

Posted by: missing link at April 1, 2011 8:46 PM

What would Canadians think of a Conservative-Liberal coalition led by Harper I wonder?

Posted by: langmann at April 1, 2011 8:50 PM

Maybe Jack Layton *should* become PM for a month or so. I can't see it harming Canada's long term rightward drift.

Posted by: madmax at April 1, 2011 8:53 PM

So this really explains the "Nobody speaks for the Liberal party except me" ads.

Posted by: Stephen at April 1, 2011 8:57 PM

PRIME MINISTER JACK LAYTON!

NOPE. Don't like the sound of that, not one bit.

Posted by: dmorris at April 1, 2011 9:00 PM

Beauty eh - so PMSH issues a one on one challenge to Jack and leaves Iggy out in the cold lol. The collective Liberal ego would implode.

Breaking News - Layton will be Leader of Coalition not Iggy

Now it turns out Ignatieff is out on his ear in a two leader debate. We learned today that if there is a coalition on the left, people want Jack Layton to be the leader by a long shot ( 59% to 27%), and not Count Iggy . So if consortium of broadcasters arrange the two leader debate, it will be Layton versus Harper - what a turn of events - but that is democracy that Ignatieff believes in and defends.

OTTAWA — If Canadians find themselves being governed by a Liberal-NDP-Bloc Québécois coalition following the May election, they want to see the NDP's Jack Layton become prime minister, results of an exclusive poll for Postmedia News and Global National released Friday suggest.

Only 27 per cent of the poll's respondents said they'd want Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff to be top dog, compared with 14 per cent who support Bloc leader Gilles Duceppe and 59 per cent who said Layton.

PRIME MINISTER JACK LAYTON!

The sound of fiscal suicide.

Posted by: Waterhouse at April 1, 2011 9:35 PM

How's about a one on one debate between Mr. Layton and Mr. Ignatieff? That ought to clear the air.

Posted by: cryptic cynic at April 1, 2011 9:46 PM

Having a choice of Taliban Jack or Count Ignatieff is much like being up to your neck in sewage. If someone spits on your face, do you duck?

Posted by: Olde Spice at April 1, 2011 9:51 PM

Jacko's secret . . . exposed.

Now that is a secret agenda.

Lapierre and Maioni on Power Play Segment Friday Flabbergast Don Martin

Jean Lapierre (former Liberal Minister and Separatist) says federalist Liberals In Quebec are leaning to vote Conservative in this election to stop the Bloc.
Antonia Maioni also agrees that could be happening.

They say Provincial Liberals in Quebec are working for the Conservatives to help elect them and once again it is to stop the Bloc.

Don Martin says "I am flabbergasted"

Lapierre said the Liberal vote may collapse in Quebec and has Duceppe on his heels so he is afraid to go all in with his marbles.
Don then asks Antonio if Liberal vote is fragile and may collapse and she says it is very weak now and it may happen.

There must be shear panic in Liberal war room after watching this - I would love to be a fly on the wall in that room wouldn't you?

The problem with this media jag, soft-headed reasoning is summed like this:

Let Jacko/NDP have a turn because they haven't had one yet.

No rational thought, no critical examination of destructive policies, just the typical Canadian mamby pamby way, everyone gets a ribbon for participating.

The road to hell is paved with those kind of intentions

missing link @ 8:46, yes, that has occurred to me a few times. Although to be fair to Bagdad Bob, he was almost loveable.

Olde Spice @ 9:51 nails it. Reminds me of the time I slipped and fell backwards into the black soup around the manure pile.

Michael can be Jack's Minister of Education and the Governor of Toronto.

If Jack were to become PM by some underhanded way I really doubt he would live long enough to enjoy it. But I'm sure he'd live long enough to do some real political and economic damage to Canada. I wonder how long it would take for him to make our economy as bad as that of Greece or Ireland?

The Harvard/Obama wannabe/PM is Huffin or Puffin , which is it. Danielle Hamanjilliamn. Harper is a statesman, he needs not, to LOWER himself to this mud slinging CTV garbage. Hey Danielle, in Canada, the raw sewage does not flow through the streets, enjoy it, hard to be homesick, isn't it. Harper has bigger issues than your CTV trumped up sandbox fight for toys, Fife has already licked them all for the lieberals, along with Iggulas twins. Your disgusting coverage of this election is really showing the Tides money that has possibly flowed into your accounts already. Fess up CBC CTV, Globe Starwipe and worst of all Bourque, show us the Igguls advantage from the evil US puppetmaster.

As a Canadian, I am personally embarrassed by EVERY NDP seat in Canada. Taliban Jack as PM? If that happens we are truly f....d. A warning from a BCer who has seen too much of what the NDP can do.

Posted by: Gobi desert at April 1, 2011 11:14 PM

Peterb at 9:33 PM, but only because Layton will succumb to his cancer and Iggy will go back to Harvard and the Cons will have a leadership convention and then we'll have a clean slate. We can start again.

Posted by: Louise at April 1, 2011 11:47 PM

Every time the opposition parties mentions government accountability, I think Harper should ask where the money is that the Liberal party stole from taxpayers that it is supposedly going to pay back (from the Sponsorship Scandal)??

Posted by: tyg at April 2, 2011 12:14 AM

More nonsense from pollsters. It was an online poll. How do you get a representative sample from an online poll?
Notice in the last line of the article. IF it had been a telephone poll the margin of error WOULD have been plus or minus 3 points, 19 times out of 20. What's the actual margin of error in this online poll?

I've pointed out some issues with that journalism here.

I fear a outflow of capital from Canada if Iggy is elected let along the tidal wave if Taliban Jack is made leader.

To the previous poster who is embarassed about NDP seats. What about the Libel ones? I can almost excuse the mindless compassion that NDPers have but Libels have a amoral lust for power which has view boundaries.

Posted by: ct at April 2, 2011 11:05 AM

Gobi - agreed. And when the provincial Liberals were running and looking to win and insisting on saying that they're Liberals, I became an Albertan. Come on over, it's great to have a working economy.

Posted by: C_Miner at April 2, 2011 11:16 AM

Is the purpose the Montreal Gazette have in asking a question like that an attempt to normalize the idea for Quebecers that the Bloc Coalition is reasonable option for the next Canadian government and therefore persuade Qubecers to vote for the Bloc to have a larger part in that coalition?

Posted by: Oz at April 2, 2011 12:21 PM

It's interesting to see the CBC push along the NDP agenda, helping Tally Jack, softball questions, lots of facetime for his smug arrogant face.

And to critique JAcko's appearance this morning on the CeeB?

Lorne Nystrom.......critique my ass, it was a lovefest.

All CBC All SOCIALISM ALL THE TIME

Madmax:8:53... Was that you over at another site taking issue with a "Slut Parade".. Don't want women dressing in a provocative manner?.. I am fine with that, because I am guessing you are fine with "hairy guys/gays" dressing in the same costumes. I would much prefer seeing women being women, than men being women, because, well, they aren't. And I would buy a ticket to see a "Slut Parade", as apposed to paying taxes to see "(puke)" the other one..And you like Taliban Jack, see ya, bye..
