Peter Kent should count himself lucky. There once was a time that politicians actually paid Warren for his career dooming powers.

Posted by: Dave in Pa at January 10, 2011 2:45 AMWow, the "Harper regime" has been criticized by Al Gore, David Suzuki, and Ban Ki-moon.
It must be doing something right.
Posted by: CJ at January 10, 2011 4:29 AM"— David Suzuki, said the ruling Conservatives “don’t have a f---ing clue” about the environment"
Well, as it turns out, neither does Suzuki.
Posted by: pkuster at January 10, 2011 4:55 AMRichard Evans posted an interesting comment. Which I won't repeat here knowing the punk orchestras leader's proclivity for litigation.
Posted by: Cal at January 10, 2011 5:26 AMI take from that article that Kinsella has no idea what a has been he is. Sad actually.
Posted by: Honey Pot at January 10, 2011 6:25 AMKisella displays ALL thats wrong with the Canadian Liberal scene...
So ...he and a couple of buddys decided Kent would make an excellent Mayor, "backroom boys" deciding whats best for the lowly citizenry.
They obviously thought he was moldable into a mouth piece for their progressive agenda.
Legends in their own minds Yes...
Behind the scenes trough slurpers Yes...
"king makers" ..NOT..!
What I found most interesting is Kinsella's belief that a seat held for over 20 years by the Liberals should have gone Tory in a landslide. Since we know he is loath to give the Harper Tories any credit it can only mean that his opinion of the Ignatieff Liberals is rather low indeed.
Posted by: PB at January 10, 2011 6:42 AMI live in Thornhill....likely to remain Con. Kent is good at constituency work and the riding is prime conservative territory.
Vaughan....was closer than expected but not surprising, Bevilaqua built a good machine, he is now Mayor and he threw it behind the Liberals. That machine will not mean as much at the next election, now that it lost once.
Kent made a wise chocie not following WK's advice. He would have been accused of being not from Toronto. Torontonions were in the mood for purer medicine than Kent would have served up, which is why they voted for Ford.
Kent has his work cut out for him dealing with the eloquent eff bombing Suzuki. Al Gore commenting on Canadian political financing is typical Al....not knowing how it works never stopped Al from preaching. And ban Ki Moon....well everyone else ignores the head of the UN why should we be any different.
There is a story to be told, and if you you arent interested in just playing to the insatiable Green crowd (they eat their own for any imputity), then the bet approach is to take the road the cons are on. Canadians are no longer in the mood for lectures from green elites about how they should live their lives.
Canadians want pragmatic discussion, and part of that discussion is oil use isnt going away any time soon, we might as well obtain it from a source that makes sense politically, econmically and with minimized impact.
They fear the oil sands, because it is a viable alternative.
Until, if ever, they get battery technology to support cold temps and longer charges we will need oil for transport. Oil will still be required for materials though for a long long time.
Now if they would start lifting environmental bans on mining rare earth elements we could really tick off the Chinese, and make even more money.
Posted by: Stephen at January 10, 2011 7:01 AMKinsella's writing reminds me of the old Samuel Johnson line. "His work is both good and original. Unfortunately the parts that are good aren't original and the parts that are original aren't good".
Posted by: nold at January 10, 2011 7:30 AMWe should all be thankful he is a Liberal.
Such a legend in his own mind.
Posted by: Fred at January 10, 2011 8:18 AMI thought I was reading a "balanced" commentary piece from CBC, after all when you need informed opinions on reality, Gore, Suzuki and UN Moon are the first people I would turn to.

Posted by: Kathy Shaidle at January 10, 2011 8:57 AMBe fair folks. If it wasn't for ego he'd have nothing but memories.
Posted by: Speedy at January 10, 2011 8:59 AMWarren has lived in the Liberal dream world so long that he would not recognize the difference between Harry Potter and any documentary.
Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at January 10, 2011 9:17 AMOnly in Toronto, reside people stupid enough to cut a cheque to someone as pathetically self absorbed as Kinsella. Only a lieberal has enough ego and brain damage to write garbage like that and think it will stick. Give it up morons, there is snow and ice in Atlanta, people freezing to death all over the northern hemisphere, and you Toronto clowns look out your 25th floor window, listen to a few festering charlatans like Suzuki, and predict the future, what idiots!
Posted by: bartinsky at January 10, 2011 9:53 AMMaybe Warren will join the Christy Clark campaign team. Judging from the Rossi debacle He will probably start by sending Christy on a rail tour of BC.
Posted by: syncrodox at January 10, 2011 10:14 AMI always read the Toronto Sun for the T and A. The Sunshine Girl provides the former, and Wornout Kantsellit is the ass.
Posted by: gordinkneehill at January 10, 2011 10:21 AMgordinkneehill - he's the ass-kicker is what he is (say, that's some rather violent political imagery now that I think about it).
Posted by: Black Mamba at January 10, 2011 11:15 AMArrg!
Well, I can't log-in to Facebook from here, so I just wasted my time writing to Warren. For what it's worth, my comment is below. Someone is welcome to re-post it on the site if they wish.
----------------------------------------------
It's clear Warren that you are either a) delusional; or b) preaching to the choir. If you're paying attention, it's obvious that the AGW political boogieman is dead. So, your delusion is rooted in the fact that you still believe there is an appetite in Canada for action on the AGW file. There isn't. PERIOD! The other option of course is that you must appease your fans because they obviously can't handle that truth.
I believe that you are a true believer. Why? Because someone with your political savvy must surely be able to see that which I've outlined above. So, what I wonder about you, is why you keep promoting the theory that Canadians want action on this. Actually, it seems you're sabotaging Liberal candidates that would heed your advice.
----------------------------------------------
BTW, this has the max amount a characters. It's purrrrrrrrrrrrfeeeeect!
- - Gore, Suzuki and Ban Ki Moon - the three stooges of eco-science.
Oh wait, there was a 4th stooge wasn't there? Who can fill in for Shemp these days? Warren, want an audition?
Posted by: Occam at January 10, 2011 11:22 AMWK has to keep on spouting token amounts of climate alarmism because he helped convince his old boss to sign on to Kyoto.
He has to keep on preaching some token climate religion in order to sooth the fears of millons of Canadians. Not a fear of climate Armageddon but the fear of having to admit they were taken in by the Liberal Ruling Class scam.
Token? Well, if you were to write a tongue-in-cheek, non-serious piece you would also cite the three clowns to make your non-case.
And if wk was serious about his piece why is he not defending himself in the Sun comments? Maybe because he cannot ? Ya think?
Posted by: ron in kelowna ∴ at January 10, 2011 11:47 AM
Me thinks...
Kinsella had something to do with the change in commenting policy over at the Sun, his penchant to sue anyone posting anything "HE" considers slanderous to himself, comes to mind.
Facebook is notorious for NOT protecting ones privacy, the Sun now requires a "facebook" membership, to leave comments.
Needing real names to pursue litigous comments , just got alot easier for Warren over at the Sun.
Furthermore,
It appears that this will end-up being a case of the Left-wing Progressives eating (shooting) their own. It's no secret the the Progressive wing of the Democratic party is quite upset with Obama and the Democrats. We've always known that official criticism from the MSM of Obama would come from the Left-side as they try and push him further Left regarding his politics. This...is the inevitable consequence of agitating the violence prone Progressives which is exactly what the Left-wing media has been doing(see link). Instead on commending Obama on his Progressive accomplishments, the Left-wing media has slammed Obama repeatedly, in an attempt of motivate the base. Well, da base is motivated I'd say! This tragedy is undoubtedly the result of a motivated Left-wing Progressive, who was enraged by the actions of a Blue-dog Democrat who clearly was not Progressive enough!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_408ieYAy0
I predict that as we move closer to 2012, we will see more of this disenchantment from motivated Progressives expressed in violence.
It is time for conservatives to be vigilant, and fight the MSM and officialdom to ensure they do not control the message. The Progressive Left is poised and want to lob-up many soft pitches that we can knock-out the park.
Posted by: Spindiana Homez at January 10, 2011 12:22 PMGuys, shut up. It may take a while, but if you keep handing Liberal royalty the secrets they need to successfully reform their public veneer (lying better 101), they might find a way to get elected again.
Even Ignatieff is starting to awaken from his insular slumber as he clumsily attempts to channel Rob Ford. "Why is it no one believes me even when I'm telling the truth?"

Posted by: Incisor at January 10, 2011 12:26 PMIggy will be a very busy man, from the looks of liberal politics, and headlines on the Liblovin newssites Igula has promised both Worn, Travers and Bourque jobs. Same kind of jobs Navin R. Johnson wrote to his mother about years ago in The Jerk, I"m sure.
Posted by: bartinsky at January 10, 2011 12:57 PMOK so it's either join facebook or quit reading and posting at the Toronto Sun.
Makes it easier to say goodbye to someone's willing to hand Worn-Out Can't-Sell-It respectability.

Thanks Warren....you just gave Karen Bock the kiss of death by your endorsement for the next election! I am sure Peter Kent will be thanking you!
Al Gore, David Suzuki and Ban Ki-moon are critical of Harper's record on the environment? This confirms he is doing the right things.

Apparently, Kinsella has accepted the role as the token loony in the Toronto Sun's otherwise conservative worldview.
He's just one guy with a column.
There are plenty of others worth reading.

If only it were so. That he's the token Official Liberal Party loony may be closer, as the Sun's "world view" is a lot less conservative than it ought to be. IMHO, of course.
It seems safe to say they didn't hire him for his 'riting skillz.
Posted by: The Phantom at January 10, 2011 2:07 PMWarren considers himself a political genius...good for him.
Appearances suggest otherwise.
Rather than be at the guy crafting policy that wins elections, he was the guy ready to destroy the crediblity of others to win the favour of his bosses...sort of like the office toady ready to find an unsuspecting victim for the boss to humiliate during the morning meeting, or ready and willing to be the first to assign blame to someone else for the da boss's mistakes...for which "da boss" rewarded him with the equivalent of a Scobby snak.
For this meager bit of token attention, warren has sworn eternal fealty.
