If offending my sensibilities and feelings was the test for whether or not one could take a certain action, the vast majority of rules and regulations in society today would not stand. Those rules and regulations harm much more than merely my sensibilities and feelings, and yet society has chosen to impose those regulations on me, despite my vehement protest.

And so we must disregard the concept of harm as merely offending someone's sensibilities or feelings when dealing with free speech. I must say, I am certainly offended by a number of statements made by people across the globe on a day to day basis which I believe to be discriminatory someone like myself, but I would certainly never argue that those who make these statements should be charged with some crime for causing this offense.

When we allow argument, then, about the right course of action for society, every argument must be available to every participant. If you are going to allow members of society to behave in a certain way that has an impact on me, I must be able to make every possible argument for or against restricting their actions. If society is going to restrict my behaviours in ways I disagree with, I must be able to make every argument against those restrictions, from the rational to the absurd.

Any sensible person must come to two conclusions on free speech within a democratic society: first, if you are going to impose strict rules and regulations on dissenters then you must allow them to dissent however they see fit so long as it does not harm the remainder of society; second, the condition of "do not harm" must not extend to people's feelings and sensibilities, otherwise society would be a static morass without the potential for change, because everything offends someone in some way.

I believe that what you will see is that at some point those in the majority will realize the costs that they are bearing for the minority. And I do not mean MINORITIES, I mean all the many different minority groups that leech off of the government, from public sector unions, to seasonal workers who are paid by EI, to immigrants who bring 10 members of their family to the country who will not work, to illegal immigrants who queue jump and leech off of our system.

Take Ireland for example. They are now bearing the economic cost of the EU forcing a bailout of their banks senior creditors so that OTHER EU BANKS can be saved the expense. And all this at the expense of the Irish taxpayer. If I was a young person living in Ireland with a good education and some skills I would leave. The mobility of human capital in Europe now means that there is no reason for the Irish youth to stay and pay for the mistakes of their parents.

At some point, people will stand up and realize that the bloating of government is never in the interest of the majority.

How will they be convinced? I'm not sure. I wish there were thousands of people as eloquent as Governor Christie who could criss-cross the world and convince people, but as of yet these people have not appeared. At some point, even without charismatic conservatives (and when I say conservatives I mean true fiscal conservatives) to convince them, people will wake up and take notice.

I am not sure what to do until that point comes. I hope it comes soon.

The only disagreement I would have is that I think you are too generous with your timeline. Events as you stated them will transpire exponentially in time. This is what will occur with the national debts that can’t be repaid, along with the birthrates of “legal” and illegal immigrants. Planes did not "crash" on 9-11, they were used as military weapons in an attack on the United States and therefore, the response of the United States to this attack was justified -- the attackers were directed by powerful individuals located in Afghanistan operating with the consent of the Afghan government of that time.

They do not describe themselves first and foremost as "Canadians". Many, (IMO a majority of them) call themselves "Muslims" first, then "Pakistanis"/"Canadians of Pakistani origin" and then, some of them, mention "I am Canadian."
And that's why when Pakistani person commits rape in Canada or in the West he is called a rapist and (more exactly) a Pakistani rapist.

Similarly, when in Emirates Englishman was accused of crimes against morality (he was kissing a lady) they called him "English criminal" and not "a criminal." He was first and foremost English.

And that is the reason "why people bring ethnicity to it".

IMHO, when Pakistanis living in the West will first call themselves Canadians/or Britons/or French; when Pakistanis describing themselves will not mention their ethnicity or religion first, it will be the time when their ethnicity will not be mentioned when they will commit a crime.
