Less than met the eye

"In(first)dude":

Obamavoid

The man behind the shellacking. Excerpts from a bitter article by the very liberal Elizabeth Drew in the NY Review of Books:

In the Bitter New Washington

[Nice threads.]

In their first two years, the Obamas have seemed a bit tone-deaf...

I don't know what the surprise is. It was plain to see right from the start there was nothing to this guy.

What Altaguy said.

Photo caption time Kate?

"Next puppy we get should we call it Emmo or Moe?"

Posted by: bluetech at December 10, 2010 6:27 PM

I hear he is smoking 3 packs a day now. Big Daddy Slick Willie had to step in for the overwhelmed Affiramtive Action President today at the Presidential News Conference. He still needs his mentor and his training wheels. I wonder if Slick Willie is teaching him to smoke cigars.

Caption time! Oblamebush, "Moochelle you made me lose my train of thought". Off screen Moochella's voice, "Don't worry Bam Bam all the box cars were empty".

Not having any experience in anything turned out to be a bad thing. Who could have seen that coming?

The chair isn't up to the rest of the decor. Neither is the guy in the suit, evidently.

He looks like a little boy in a big room in the photo. He should have his nose in the corner.

"I know I'm on camera, so if I strike this pose and look really, really pensive I can re-assure my followers there's still hope.
Oh crap!, who am I kidding? It's not at all like Matthews and Letterman said it would be. Some people don't even like me. What's wrong with them?
I'm a likeable guy- just ask Bo. Here Bo, come Bo, here Bo...yer pissin' me off Bo ." ...

The jig's up. 'Can't fool all of the people all of the time or even some of the time, anymore.

Now what?

Don't worry; the White House will be employing new decorators, oh, sometime late in 2012. ;D

The book that is pointed to on the 'nice threads' link, Future Babble, is rather expensive on Amazon. 320 pages @ $34.75 = 11¢ per page. Not the new 2011 Future Babble available on pre-order for March delivery, the older 2010 version. The main library is 1/2 a block away from my home. Alas, the book is not in their catalog, and I do not understand that. But wait! Amazon is not the only book seller online. I lucked out at Abebooks. A gallery edition was available for $11.00 with the next one listed for $77.00. God, I love the internet.

As to O, he has us completely dumbfounded by walking away from his presser today leaving it to Bill Clinton. Some of us did see through the Affirmative Action ivy from miles away and began hitting 'mute' three years ago whenever inflicted with The Voice TM, the preacher's cadence and finger wagging, which would be multiple times daily. So we would never hear today's speech anyway. Nonetheless, he is quite impossible to avoid knowing about, and even we were amazed at that level of reckless abandonment.

Poor baby needed a cigarette!

Clinton can handle it,
he likes money, power, and Canadian women.

Posted by: Knight 99 at December 11, 2010 9:43 AM

Kate, you should take that picture and turn it into a caption contest. My entry: "Apparently nobody has read my two biographies, they'd understand how great I am. How could this have happened?"

RFB at 6:49 p.m. "I wonder if Slick Willie is teaching him to smoke cigars."

I don't recall that slick Willie actually smoked them.

Picture Caption:

"Shiat, Michelle's going to be pissed at me for that cigarette burn on that new rug she commissioned...Quick, I need to hide an open pack o' smokes and a lighter in my oldest girl's bedroom"

I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but that is a lincoln pose.

The problem is that what the us needs is a potus who casts an FDR visage - upward, smiling, welcoming, engaging to anyone and everyone - not just Americans BTW.

Obama is among other things, the wrong kind of personality for these times.

"I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but that is a lincoln pose."

Of course it is. Obama fairly worships and mimics Abraham Lincoln, or at least fancies himself the modern day equivalent. This was noted during his campaign too.

Posted by: Skip at December 11, 2010 6:30 PM

Yes during the campaign... One day he was Lincoln, then he was Kennedy, then FDR...then Lincoln again. All the time he just looked like an "Erkel" (fool) to me.
