If you donate to the Humane Society of the United States for supporting the homeless doggies and kitties in your local animal shelter, you've likely been suckered by one of Big Green's most notorious propaganda mills.Posted by Kate at December 3, 2010 9:53 AMHSUS is a radical no-meat, anti-hunting, anti-gun octopus that spends millions swallowing other animal groups whole, but habitually gives less than 1 percent of its annual revenue to a few selected local shelters. It's not that they can't afford it -- they raked in $101.6 million last year alone.
HSUS got so big because of CEO Wayne Pacelle's takeovers of the extremist Fund for Animals and the respectable Doris Day Animal League, in what he calls "corporate combinations."
That, and his ability to create high-profile projects like disaster relief crews that swoop stranded cats and dogs from flooded housetops while the TV cameras watch -- then quietly dump them on nearby shelters without so much as a dime's worth of support.
Pacelle gets the credit, the grunts get the critters.
Kate, a missing ` " ' somewhere?

Posted by: nick at December 3, 2010 10:06 AMThe Ontario Humane Society was a cash cow for a close knit family of x-Brits....until they were taken over by the mob of vegan/animal rights from Toronto. They had used their dominance to close many small shelters and loot their treasuries....including large bequests of cash and even land....
I am likely biased but here in Bantario "Humane Societies" and public service unions usually have a leadership with very broad UK working class accents.
Posted by: sasquatch at December 3, 2010 10:09 AMStupid people who give away their money is the root cause of deep sh1t we are in now.
How is HSUS different from the tax man? The government shows you the schools which provide no education and doctors who provide no health and recently some X-ray machines and jet fighters which provide no security.
The rule 'don't feed the trolls' is not just for Internet.
Standard Leftard Operating Procedure (SLOP... wink wink)
Do as i say, not as i do.
Double standard are us; the leftie trademark

Posted by: trappedintrudeaupia at December 3, 2010 10:44 AMThe same thing happened in England years ago to the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals which was taken over by the "Animal Rights" brigade. As a result of their lobbying we now have ridiculously prescriptive which has led to the prosecutions of farmers and pet owners on very spurious or technically nitpicking grounds.
The RSPCA did and does very valuable work - for instance in inspecting and supervising livestock markets which are not the most pleasant places on earth with the most intelligent employees. But you cannot subscribe to it without supporting the extreme agenda - and it is hugely wealthy, able to pay top salaries and benefits to its central staff.
Posted by: Edward Spalton at December 3, 2010 11:26 AMHere in Alberta,my wife and I found two feral kittens when we were out camping. They were maybe a month old.Took them home, then called the SPCA to see if they would accept them for adoption. We were told that they would take them, but would put them down within a week!
Can happily say they are now part of our family.
If you give anything to the SPCA,you are a twit feeding a socilist society.
I quite donating to the SPCA a number of years ago when it became apparent that it had been taken over by the PETA crowd.

Posted by: felis corpulentis at December 3, 2010 1:33 PMJust take a look at Missouri's recent Proposition B, which would have made it a misdemeanor to have a kibble of dog food in your dog's water. Missouri already had among the toughest laws on the books in regulation of legitimate dog breeders. The referendum did better in suburban districts than the No-to-Obamacare referendum and also won one county of the Boot Heel that was about dead last in voter turnout.
The No-on-B people pointed out that the president of HSUS would not want another dog born in this country, and the only pets you should be able to keep are those that you had originally been raising for meat.

And to you Sir, my 1st toast of the evening.
An elderly neighbor woman of mine gets HSUS literature. She has no other family and was going to donate a percent of her estate to them upon her death. That was until I told her about what they are really up to. She changed her will to support our local humane society.
Posted by: Orlin in Marquette at December 3, 2010 3:49 PMIt's been known to those who pay attention that the HSUS is radically opposed to animal welfare, while the state-level Humane Societies tend to actually do good work.
The word needs to be spread more widely.
Posted by: Sigivald at December 3, 2010 5:20 PMWe have a small farm and like cats.We have 2 house cats and up to 25 barn cats. No mice but we are overrun by cats. LOL. The cats are all neutered and get a heating pad when it gets real cold. Same treatment as the house cats-just a different house. Anyway a couple of years ago were were low on cats due to coyotes, etc. So my wife called local animal shelter to get 2 or 3 kittens. When she said they were going to live in the barn they refused to "adopt" cats out to farms.Go figure. So we looked in craigslist-lots there.Later the animal shelter was complaining they were too crowded with animals. Tough shit, I say!!!!!
