A reader reminded me that I had promised to send defunct CFL bulbs to my Congressman, so I’ve dug the latest failure out of the kitchen trash can and will send it off to Jimbo in Washington, labeled “hazardous waste’. Blogging may be suspended while I arrange bail.
For Canadians, the process is different:
1. Address your package to a non-existent recipient
2. In the "from" corner, write: 219-2211 West 4th Avenue
Vancouver, BC V6K 4S2
3. Drop it in a mailbox without adding stamps.
But you didn't hear that from me.
From the comments; "what can I mail the good Dr. if I refuse to have those twisty bulbs in my house?"

Althogh I clearly did not hear it from you, something inside me told me to send packages to Dr. Fruitfly, via a proxy, in order that he would be the recipient of the returned mail. Four in fact. Each containing one of those accursed, ineffective spiral contraptions termed light bulbs.
I sincerely hope he enjoys the pleasure of disposing same in an "environmentally-responsive" manner

My wife bought some (note to self, don't let her go to RONA alone) and I've been able to avoid using any of them so all I have is new. Is it okay to "allegedly" send the whole box? Trust if I don't hear back from you otherwise, it's "allegedly" okay.

Scenario was supposed to go:
Ban cheap no patent commodity Edison lamps,
Force purchase of patented expensive mercury CFLs,
Ban CFLs as hazardous once the patented, very expensive, photonic lamps were ready for sale.
Confusion now reigns as LED lamps showing up earlier than expected in the market and photonic lamps still not ready.

as a conservative and gardening type, I'd tend to put old bricks into the garden for walkways, but old newspapers? not so much. tin cans? those nasty old milk jugs? ect...

Instead of waiting for that one or two days a year that the receiving bay is open we smash them up and send them to Dolton and his merry gang of thieves to dispose of?
I like it, idea stolen and implemented.
MSN once had a piece on CFL bulbs and was ADMITTING regular bulbs help keep your house warm in winter and DO save you a little money on HEATING ...
