Yup. Prime candidate for the Darwin Award.

And SHE was a Doctor? Her poor patients!

Posted by: The LS from SK at September 2, 2010 10:26 AM

so let me understand this clearly.....YOU are suggesting Santa Claus....St. Nick....the kindest sweetest most generous giving person i know is batshit crazy ?

Posted by: john begley at September 2, 2010 10:36 AM

'eeper weeper, chimney sweeper
had a wife but couldn't keep her
had another but couldn't love her
up the chimney he did shove her'

Posted by: john begley at September 2, 2010 10:38 AM

Harsh John, very harsh!!!!

Damn funny though, good one.

Posted by: Frenchie77 at September 2, 2010 11:10 AM

I think you have to be a little crazy to be an MD. Most of my ex's classmates were unusual but not looney. The hours suck, the pay sucks, the people are cranky, drunk, messy and sometimes just plain stink. You hold their hand as they die and go get lunch after doing your best. Do it again to-morrow.

Posted by: Speedy at September 2, 2010 11:10 AM

Did she first try and dig her way in? Not quite as dumb as the chimney idea, but still pretty dumb.

Posted by: Gobi Desert at September 2, 2010 11:14 AM

"Thick as a Brick" No Barrier to Medical Degree

would be my headline.

Posted by: Al the fish in MB at September 2, 2010 11:31 AM

I'll bet she bought her clothes 2 sizes too small every time she went shopping.

Posted by: Oz at September 2, 2010 11:36 AM

Speedy

Yeah, I also emphasize with the MDs, especially those in the cancer clinics.....special people.

Yeah this gal was Batshit crazy.....but that is no objective reflection on the MDs or that gender (despite a gut-feeling to the contrary).

If you recall NASA had an astronaut exhibit such bizarre behaviour.

Indeed in law "passion" as in "crime of passion" is a mitigating factor in meetting out penalties for violence.....an indication that this aspect of the human condition has long been recognized as a transient form of insanity.

This is the downside of that "crazy dancing way you feel" when the reproductive instinct kicks in. All aspects of this has been the inspiration of poets and troupadors for milenia.

It is commercially exploited by everything from Hallmark to dating services to barrister/solicitors to jewellers to florists.

Indeed the real batshit-crazies are those who have never been under this natural emotional influence....

No......I'm not romantic....just realistic.....(I think).....

It appears that she also had financial problems. With the US in the economic toilet - is there's going to be a lot more people that will head over the edge in the next little while? . . . . . . .

We need to patrol our borders . . . . we may (as a great spoof pointed out) find Hollywood screenwriters huddled in our barns, who haven't had sparkling water for days . . . .

A true green patriot, she died green and composted herself. What a gal.

Posted by: rose at September 2, 2010 12:19 PM

How did they retrieve the body?

Posted by: Gord Tulk at September 2, 2010 1:07 PM

Oz @11:36 - just like Dr. Cuddy.

Posted by: Black Mamba at September 2, 2010 1:17 PM

Probably qualified to be a Psychiatrist in some "rural" community like Prince George or "defend" pedophiles (who are hiding in Switzerland) while writing poetry about a colonoscopy while practicing in Toronto.

Posted by: Curious at September 2, 2010 1:17 PM

While she was trying to break in, the man she was pursuing escaped unnoticed from another exit "to avoid a confrontation," authorities said.

And noone found her body for three days?

Wee-urd.

Posted by: Black Mamba at September 2, 2010 1:23 PM

"While she was trying to break in, the man she was pursuing escaped unnoticed from another exit "to avoid a confrontation," authorities said."

Her car was probably parked in front of his place and he maybe thought she was hiding in it and lurking there for him.

I knew a guy like that once.
He was afraid of women, raised Catholic, ended up marrying a Copt from Egypt.

Always hooked up with the bunny boilers.

Dead after catching the flue.

manitoba has looney naked judges

Posted by: cal2 at September 2, 2010 2:18 PM

In Manitoba the Lawyer (now Judge) posed naked, in BC the RCMP watched naked prisoners....

So justice isn't blind, but naked to the truth?

Posted by: Al the fish in MB at September 2, 2010 3:13 PM

haha... here's another one:

I would have to agree with speedy; i think all of us in medicine must be a little crazy to do what we do day in and day out. BUT, there are many rewarding experiences had with patients and despite all the louts, drunks, know-it-alls, and the ungrateful, those experiences where you change a patient's life for the better more than make up for the bad days. I wouldn't do anything else for the world.

Wow, I'm glad that mental illness doesn't carry the stigma that it did in the past.

Todays answer for stalkers. Death by Santa's helpers.

Posted by: Revnant Dream at September 2, 2010 5:58 PM

Recall reading some time ago about a Chinese or Korean top of his class med student down at U of Tenn or someplace who was in his final year when they finally discovered he had concealed or ignored the fact his long term memory didn't function properly and his background medical knowledge would be zip within a year or so of graduating. Had a hell of a time with lots of lawyers fighting over the case before the U finally won and he was deemed unfit.

Posted by: Sgt Lejaune at September 2, 2010 6:13 PM

Wow 49 years of age, countless years of dedication and bills going to Med school - to end up as a good laugh on SDA.

I wonder if she was thinking about all that as she was stuck there? Sad in a way.

The left never sees the consequences until it's far to late. At least she didn't take any conservatives with her this time.

Posted by: Knight 99 at September 2, 2010 6:34 PM

Just imagine fighting for a half hour to make it down a chimney, and on the last yard, some S.O.B. lights the fire!

Posted by: Scripto at September 2, 2010 6:49 PM

I am claustrophobic, slightly. I couldnt even watch "Descent"..... It has to be a horrifying death.. I must say I have some sympathy for people who are in such a state that their common sense is lost to them.

Posted by: happy infidel at September 2, 2010 9:36 PM

Have to side with sasquatch on this one; sexual drives make people do some very strange things. Still, going down a chimney?

From the newspaper article she was an internist. The typical internist I know would first have remotely measured the interior chimney width at 1 cm intervals, analyzed the brick composition and gone down with all the necessary tools to get through the wall should problems result during the descent. Her behavior is more characteristic of a surgeon.

The much less dramatic form of primitive sexual-drive based activity I see during walkin shifts is that of women coming in for morning after pills after an unexpected and, for them surprising, sexual liason with a man they have just met. Curiously, the majority of these episodes happen around the time of ovulation. I suspect this is the result of a hypothalamic procreative program being executed but this explanation is rejected by all women I've mentioned it to. It's either "the wines fault" or "I just felt like doing it"; women seem to be the most reluctant to accept that they could be controlled by their hormones.

She'll be comin' down the chimney when she comes..she'll be comin'...

I have to agree that she should have waited for one of Santa's helpers.

Infatuation takes over your senses and the brain takes a leave without pay.

Does not matter how long you went to school.

Some manage better than others.

Posted by: Lev at September 2, 2010 10:17 PM

loki I had to smile at the surgeon part. Spot on.

Posted by: Speedy at September 3, 2010 12:53 AM

I would have assumed she was a shrink.

+1 Richfisher!

Posted by: Kursk at September 3, 2010 3:53 AM

happy infidel...I'm extremely claustrophobic...couldn't read past 'chimney' in this article...from the comments I'm getting the gist of the story.Sad really.

Why did Academics let physicians take over the title of Doctor? It means Teacher, after all.

Posted by: oneblankspace at September 3, 2010 12:31 PM

You know, this mindless stereotyping has got to stop. In my many years in the guano industry, almost all the batshit I saw was eminently sane and reasonable.

It's hard to imagine Marcus Welby getting himself into such a mess.

Posted by: hoosierman at September 4, 2010 9:10 AM

Eeeek, a stalker. Women stalkers seem to be even worse than the male variety in terms of how persistent they are, and the men are bad enough.

These people need to be on some kind of medication and under psychiatric care, which they never seem to be willing to get on their own.
