Reader Tips

Tonight's amusement en route to the Tips is a cover of a beautiful, melancholy song written in 1945 by French Poet Jacques Prevert and Hungarian-born composer Joseph Kosma. From a 1977 recording made in Milan, Italy, here's Jazz trumpeter Chet Baker and Ruth Young duetting on a nicely languorous version of Autumn Leaves.

Here's an interesting article about the disturbing and bizarre level of sympathy for Raoul Moat, a convicted child beater who became something of a cult hero in England after he shot his former girlfriend (she survived), killed her boyfriend, and then blinded a police officer by shooting him in the face. After Moat was finally cornered by police after a week on the run, and killed himself, Facebook tribute sites sprang up, people left flowers at the site where he was shot, and a large crowd showed up at his funeral to pay tribute.

From another article by Arthur Weinreb:

"One (attendee at Moat's funeral) unemployed 45-year-old mother of eight. She and her three of her sons sons, ages 15, 14 and 13 had travelled all night by bus, a distance of almost 300 miles just to be at the funeral of someone she didn’t know....Bystram was not shy in talking to the media about why she was there. She was quoted as saying, 'I just think he is a hero and I wanted to pay my respects. He kept them coppers on the run all that time. Fair enough people died but they must have deserved it. He didn’t deserve what he got in the end.'”

British PM David Cameron: "It is absolutely clear that Raoul Moat was a callous murderer, full stop, end of story. I cannot understand any wave, however small, of public sympathy for this man."

This goes hand in hand with Marxist environmentalists, trying to ban Dog or any animal breeding. Just another stage in the progressive agenda, to force pets from homes.
No wonder both death cults get along. They worship at the same alter. Both Islam & Liberalism. Totalitarian sects both.

Iran bans pet ads, brands dogs 'unclean'
IRAN today banned all advertisements in the country for pets, pet shops, pet food and other pet products, claiming that people's love for their dogs and cats may lead to "evil outcomes".

Something like the Moat "tribute" happened in California, just outside of San Francisco, in the past year. I can't remember the name of the fellow but the tribute nutters sound like they belong to the same cult. :-(

Re: Les Feuilles Mortes--The Autumn Leaves.

I'm glad you mentioned Jaques Prevert.

Edith Piaf, Yves Montand, Doris Day, Nat King Cole, Pat Boone, Andrea Bocelli and many more sang this timeless classic.

I've always been amazed at the transformation between spring, summer, fall and winter. I visted a region of Australia where trees are green year round. Was quite surprised to see that deciduous trees exist over tyere as well, they lose their leaves year round, especially during dry periods.

Just think folks, there are actually people out there who think that our Gun Registry prevents gun smuggling by criminals. DO YOU REALIZE HOW ABSOLUTELY ABSURD SUCH AN ASSERTION IS?!?!?!?

I caught a bit of an interview today on QR77 with Rutherford and Lord Monckton. I can't find it on QR77's site, but it was about a scathing report that said that the UN's IPCC was mostly crap, their science wasn't science,it was a political move. If anyone can find it,and provide a link, please do,it was a great interview.

I heard that interview earlier today. You can play it back from the CHQR Audio Vault.

Another thing I can't find, and I did at least two hours of searching through cbc's archives and on google.Paul Martin was being interviewed by Mansbridge,Jan 18 2006.The show was called 'Your Turn'.

The segment was about banning handguns. This was only a few weeks after the shooting of Jane Kreba by the basketball gangstas.

Paul Martin was asked by Mansbridge if a ban on handguns was necessary considering that we had the gun registry.Paul Martin, leader of the Liberal party, and the Prime Minister of Canada, responded that the long gun registry was about targetting farmers and duck hunters, legitimate gun owners, and was completely different than a handgun ban.

This part of the interview has gone down the cbc's memory hole, but I'm pretty sure that I have it on VHS.

Posted by: wallyj at September 2, 2010 1:15 AM

Thanks foobert. I got the QR77 thing cued up and ready to go. Now if you can find that interview between Mansbridge and Martin,I will be forever in your debt.

Margaret Atwood, the Canadian writer is pushing to ban free speech as she signed a petition to stop Harper from bullying the CRTC to approve in having FOX news North (Sun TV)...

Posted by: Right Honourable Terry Tory at September 2, 2010 9:18 AM

Terry Tory, you want to know the best part?

I was watching the tweets back and forth between Atwood and Ezra Levant last night. When she signed the petition, she actually thought it WAS FoxNews setting up a Canadian branch.

So she signed a petition about which she acknowledges having no information about. Next she will be signing that famous petition to ban Dihydrogen Monoxide.

God did not create the Universe:Hawking news

London: God no longer has any place in theories on the creation of the universe due to a series of developements in pyhsics, british scientist Stephen Hawking said in extracts published Thursday from a new book.

"God did not create the Universe:Hawking"

The same "genius" who said just a few weeks ago that man should just abandon the earth for a new world...Based on some climate change claptrap I think...

Yep, I would put Hawkins in the same category as the "Doctor in the chimney" lunatic (See "Let me fix that headline for you" thread above)...I'm not sure what his education background is but Phd's and doctorates mean nothing...

...See David Suzuki on that.

Linda McQuaig chimes in on the move to ban the new conservative TV station here in Canada.

How these Leftists can so casually work at banning free speech (which in NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM is hate speech!!!) that they disagree with is an amazing thing to behold ... and not in a good way. I'm reminded of an e-mail I received and have posted before:

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.

"James Lee is Al Gore is Prince Charles is the Unabomber

Al Gore’s Church of Climatism has claimed a new glorious martyr. His name is James Lee – the Discovery channel attempted eco-suicide-bomber – and if he’d had his way he wouldn’t have been the only one who ended up in the great recycling bin in the sky. That’s because, as far as the late James Lee was concerned, humans like the innocent Discovery channel employees he held hostage are the scum of the earth.

Just read some of the manifesto he posted on the internet and see for yourself:

The humans? The planet does not need humans.

You MUST KNOW the human population is behind all the pollution and problems in the world, and YET you encourage the exact opposite instead of discouraging human growth and procreation. Surely you MUST ALREADY KNOW this!

Does this sound like the ravings of a sad, deranged loner on the wilder fringes of eco-fascist lunacy? Not to me it doesn’t. Strip away the block capitals and what you have, word for word, is the core manifesto of the entire global green movement."

Apparently Chris Matthews, he of the 'tingling leg adoration of Obama' has, ahh, cooled off.

He's now saying that Obama is too bonded to the teleprompter, claiming that Obama is 'just reading words now'; that even when he has business men into the White House, he reads them a speech from the teleprompter, and is "using the teleprompter instead of his heart and mind".

Well, well. So finally, people are wondering - what's wrong with Obama? They at first tried to explain that cool aloofness as 'he's cerebral, he's an intellectual, he's thinking about everything'. Now, it's becoming clear that Obama isn't thinking about a thing; that he totally lacks empathy for anyone.

If he's in a situation which is not about Himself, which does not result in immediate adultion - then, Obama goes into deep freeze. He only turns on when he can manipulate and control people, directly, into an immediate reaction of adulation.

Obama, furthermore, is not interested in policies and programs - all that tedious stuff that has to be thought through and analyzed. So, when he has to address an audience about these things, he absolutely must rely on a teleprompter and he reads it without interest or even, understanding.

It's fascinating to watch how the veneer of Messianic glory around Obama is shedding, is dripping away...leaving an empty shell.

... and, then came Lee's "awakening*":

Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth*".

Red-Green and its Big Brother, socialism, is a religion with many faces, many altars, many priests, many converts.

"Discovery Gunman James Lee's Sordid Past as a Human Smuggler

Court Documents Detail His Descent into Isolation and Despair"

"The documents do not mention how many people Lee smuggled across the border, but Tuognlan Lee said her family was contacted at the time by the FBI and told "it was more than one."

Lee had been estranged from his family since 2002, according to Tuonglan. "We last spoke to him in 2002. The next time we heard about him was in 2003 when we heard about the Mexico incident. Then we had no news until he was arrested again in 2008 and then of course the news yesterday. We always wonder what he was doing."

Lee was arrested in 2008 for disorderly conduct during a protest outside of Discovery Channel headquarters.

Tuonglan Lee said his mental state diminished over time. "Two people close to him died in 2002, and after their passing he became angry and very emotional. He had a normal relationship with people before 2002, but after that he was completely different."

Lee's brother told ABC News that Lee was likely seeking to be killed by the police.

"It was definitely out of character," Aaron Lee said. "I thought it was insanity. I was sad to know that he was shot and killed, but that's what he probably wanted."

Did Lee act alone? Is Lee a Red-Green martyr?

Green Muslim suicide murderers have supporters; Tamil Tiger suicide murderers have supporters; did Lee have supporters?

None of the Green Muslim suicide murderers; nor, none of the Tamil suicide murders have been marked as insane. Why would Lee be marked as insane?

All of them murder in the name of their religion. None are considered insane. They acted in the name of their false religions. All are martyrs to their fellow religionists.

Lee attempted suicide murder in the name of the religion of Red-Green Gaia whose prophets include Gore, Hansen, Suzuki, Jones, Mann, Liberal MP Citoyen Kyoto Dionky, at al.

The godfather is Canadian-born Maurice Strong, "Liberal leader" Bob Rae's Uncle Mo.

They are complicit in crimes against humans.

Where are the arrests/investigations?

SILVER SPRING, Md. — Four more explosive devices tied to the suspect in the Discovery Channel standoff were found at a residence in Montgomery County, Md., authorities told NBC News on Thursday.

Authorities said a bomb squad detonated the devices. No one was injured.

Investigators are still trying to find the car they believe that the suspect, identified as James J. Lee, was driving on Wednesday before he entered the headquarters of Discovery Communications in Silver Spring, Md., with bombs strapped to him and took three people hostage."
