Don't get in the way of that double-double

It is somehow reassuring to see that something like this can still happen:

The quick-thinking of several Tim Hortons customers stopped a knife-wielding man in Gatineau Sunday evening. Police said a 42-year-old white male from Gatineau entered the Tim Horton’s at 327 Maloney Blvd. just after 8:30 p.m. His face was covered by a scarf and he was brandishing a knife. As he approached the counter, four customers jumped on the man, taking him down and detaining him until police arrived.
Even more surprising, the customers don't appear to have been charged with assault or unlawful confinement -- yet.

But he was just turning his life around until he was jumped by four people.

Someone should have served him a couple extra large black, NOT double cupped. NOT cupped at all for that matter.

"Even more surprising, the customers don't appear to have been charged with assault or unlawful confinement -- yet."

No worries. They got a distinct culture over there.

"Yet" is right, wait for it. This is Canada you know. Mustn't allow people to go after criminals.

Entering with a scarf and a knife? Sounds to me like an average Canadian customer. The zealous vigilantes will likely still have their day in court as this guy apparently didn't do anything other than sport a threatening appearance. If he were within the confines of an airliner, there would be a legitimate cause for alarm, but then not enough of the Timmy's crowd flies.

Suffering numerous injustices brought the poor man to try and commit what some conservatives would call a "crime".

Then the alleged masked man suffered an additional injustice at the hands of 4 violent strangers who humiliated him by destroying his "entrepeneurial" attempt at a new carreer.

Those 4 people should be punished severly, then re-educated properly and the so-called "robber" compensated for his mental and physical suffering.

He should also get free equitable-trading-coffee for life from those faceless capitalist who owned the business.

( It's fun acting like a leftist !!!)

I expect the alleged burglar to haul his four assailants before an HRC tribunal in 3....2....1....

He butted in line. Thats a pummelin'.

"Even more surprising, the customers don't appear to have been charged with assault or unlawful confinement nor does it appear that they checked with authorities to see if their actions were consdered racist first".

The most probable answer is that the "robber" was simply a conservative male, carting his every day utility knife. When stating he just wanted "normal coffee" strait up - he was jumped by 4 gay black latte lappers nearby.

Subsequently there will be no charges laid on the gay black men, but the "terrorist" will never see the light of day again.

Now the story fits the Liberal MO.

It was Michael Ignatieff. Never bring a czar to a knife fight.

Too bad it didn't end like - "Geez officer, he looked dangerous and we all sort of fell on him and when we got up the knife was sticking out of his heart". En francais of course.

Those four customers are likely less at risk of being charged because the intended victim was that branch of Tim Horton's. Therefore they weren't protecting their own "stuff", the courts take a dim view of people protecting their own property because if you let that kind of thing get out of hand people soon start thinking they're entitled to the fruits of their labor.

...and where would the leftists be then?

Had the "alleged" assailant been non-white, I bet the ending of the story would have been different.

I am sure Ontario has a support group he can join to over come the trauma of being thrown to the ground in an less the kind manner.

Good on the boys for jumping the knife-wielder. It's good to know people haven't completely succumbed to the "call the police and wait" PC idiocy.

"Police said a 42-year-old white male from Gatineau ... "

Hmmm. In most cases, at least here in Toronto, the media refrains from mentioning the colour of the assailant, even when he's still at large and might attack again. I'm often left wondering how I'd know this guy if he was coming towards me.

But, you know? If he's from a visible minority, we just like to be sensitive and not mention any identifying features. "Multicultural" means never having to be identified or accountable.

Reminds me of a guy in Calgary in the early '90's who robbed a person at knifepoint at an ATM. His defense in court was he was just trying to SELL his knife. The judge didn't buy it.......

Everyone in Canada knows by now that if "white" wasn't mentioned in a crime report then you are to assume "any of above, but preferably white" or "we can only hope its a white criinal, please god let him be white". Of course it won't be, but you need to believe it could be.

Gotta get with the program.

Had the "alleged" assailant been non-white, I bet the ending of the story would have been different.

My thoughts exactly. We'd surely see charges against the customers in that case.

This is why I drink Starbucks. Less violence, more little cardboard thingies placed around the cups to prevent burnt hand induced rage.
