Now is the time at SDA when we're out ahead of the pack.
SDA, August 14th - Barack Obama grabs two bottles of beer and hurls himself toward the Presidency Escape Chute.
Telegraph, August 23rd - Almost everything Obama does these days suggests that he doesn't care much about being re-elected. Strange as it might seem, perhaps he wants to be a one-term president.
Posted by Kate at August 23, 2010 7:56 PMThat's why they don't want gays in the military, much less the Presidency. You never know when they are going to have a psychological meltdown and run around like a loony chicken.
Posted by: Knight 99 at August 23, 2010 8:10 PMVariations on a theme. I'm reminded of that thread Kate had up some time back concerning Obama's Harvard Law Review presidency.
The woman quoted at length was, if I remember right, the senior editor that year. She said that Obama rarely came around to the Review offices, didn't stay long when he did, contributed nothing to speak of and seemed more enamored with the idea of being Harvard Law Review president than doing the job of Harvard Law Review president. A dilettante, in other words, as with his Teleprompter Presidency.
Posted by: Dave in Pa at August 23, 2010 8:19 PMMethinks perhaps the one-term senator from Illinois has realized he is in over his head. One term and then perhaps he can do something more in keeping with his abilities. Perhaps night manager of a 7-11?
Posted by: noddyrules at August 23, 2010 8:31 PMPerhaps he knows something the rest of us don't, for example, the chances of having another election.
Posted by: Peter O'Donnell at August 23, 2010 8:41 PMwe had a dilettante from 68-84.i still believe that O will be re-elected ,all the optimism and tub thumping doesn't take republican stupidity/incompetence into account.
Posted by: reg at August 23, 2010 8:49 PMWhy continue making a few hundred thousand a year over the next four years when he can make what he thinks he is worth, millions a year going on speaking tours talking highbrow BS to gullible people?
He doesn't love America, its just a stepping stone...
Posted by: langmann at August 23, 2010 9:02 PMHe is up to something - very strange behaviour for a prez - 9 vactions - golfing all the time - he is acting like he has a terminal illness and only has a short time to get the most out of life.
Could be he knows he will not last another term or he simply doesn't care what anyone thinks because he has already earned his place in history or he has another plan in place.
I am thinking, rightly or wrongly, that the man has something big up his sleeve planned between now and November so as to turn the tide of popular opinion for him. Perhaps he simply plans to veto and/or issue executive orders for the next couple of years. I don't trust the guy.
Historically, he has had success using the race, sympathy, and underdog cards to garner public support, if he does have a plan, it will probably involve playing all three of these cards plus a few others.
I just can not imagine him accepting defeat, especially given how close Islam is declaring their perceived victory on western soil through the plans to buil their symbolic victory mosque. He is just to laid back given the storm of controversy whirling about him. His seeming lack of worry or concern is odd. Something just does not smell right.
Posted by: No-One at August 23, 2010 9:07 PMHe'll bail for 'health reasons'.
Posted by: Stan at August 23, 2010 9:09 PMHe's too lazy to actually be POTUS.
He just likes the idea of being POTUS . . . all those little peons licking his boots as he decides who gets the lolly.
It could be that he simply doesn't care to be President any more than he cares for the future well being of the USA, any more than he cares about how to truly help anyone... It may fit more with SDA's commentator ET, regarding his narcissism, which I'm starting to agree with, ET, and that he sees the future as "your problem", not his problem. After all, he keeps the benefits as past President forever, he doesn't need us anymore.
I can hear him saying in January, 2012, "I've done all I can do hear folks" with a sneer and faking a golf swing.

Posted by: marc in calgary at August 23, 2010 9:32 PMObama does not need to be re-elected.
He has done enough damage.
damage that will take decades to be undone ( if it can be undone ).
Posted by: Friend of USA at August 23, 2010 9:34 PMActually, he would likely be bullet proof on the night shift at 7-11. I mean the requisite gun toting criminal comes in all ready to rob the place and thinks - "crap, if he was an Asian I'd just shoot him and if he was an Indian I'd pistol whip him. What the hell do I do with a half-black Muslim?"
Posted by: Brian M. at August 23, 2010 9:52 PMThe current occupant of the White House will likely run again. May win due to the, all things considered, republican congress that will not allow him to screw the country anymore, though “reg at August 23, 2010 8:49 PM” may be on to something.
As far as his followers, that is no concern for him, they will vote for him if it kills them.
It also may be that Obama is hoping to get out of running.
It's pretty much been said in this thread. Obama has never cared for America and even if he doesn't get elected again, he'll move onto greener (read: money-making) climes. Screw the little guy. He can be the next president's problem.
Posted by: Osumashi Kinyobe at August 23, 2010 9:56 PMI'll bet George Soros has a play in mind, starring Obama.

he's taken out life insurance-Biden is his VP.very smart, Rodham, maybe someone might want to upgrade, Biden, not a snowball's chance in hell.
No-One at 9:07pm - Maybe "president" is on his "Bucket List". He's put the check mark against the appropriate line on his list and is ready to move on. At least let's hope so...
Posted by: Aviator at August 23, 2010 10:02 PMI'm going to go with the obvious.
They're going to cheat.
Posted by: Blame Crash at August 23, 2010 10:42 PMNo doubt Obamugabe & Co. have a scenario in mind. Something along the story line of most leftist regimes where convenient coup or assassination attempts by their opponents (real or imaginary) prior to elections set the stage for emergency rule and the wholesale roundup of "evil plotters".
Posted by: Sgt Lejaune at August 23, 2010 11:10 PMObama became president because he wanted to be POTUS.
Reagan became president because he wanted to end communism.
Posted by: Stan at August 23, 2010 11:40 PMLast minute Amnesty for illegals alone assures Obama of an additional 10 million votes or so.
Could be that...could be something else... he never seemed to be a hard working man anyway...
Posted by: Friend of USA at August 23, 2010 11:50 PMWhy remain president when there is so much money for nothing at the other end?
Having a Republican congress won't help his agenda much.
Naw, he wants to remain president, if for no reason other than his ego and more judicial appointments.
Posted by: POWinCA at August 24, 2010 12:30 AMWhat Fred said.
Posted by: Kate at August 24, 2010 12:35 AMSo much for affirmative action.
What more proof does anyone need that you can't hire someone based on the color of their skin?
Obamba say's it himself and also claims he is where he is due to affirmative action. The interviews he makes these claims are easily searchable.

I’m not so sure. As ET and many others have pointed out, Obama appears to be in Stage 4 narcissism. The rules of reality simply do not apply. E.g., I once worked for a narcissist. Like Obama, this person started out being everyone’s darling. (I have to admit, even I was fooled. But not by Obama, for a nano-second!)
Bit by arrogant, out of touch bit, this person seriously alienated the whole community. Within two years, the powers that be got this person removed. At the obligatory farewell party, where the lack of enthusiasm could be cut with a knife, the narcissist performed an embarrassing little ditty and enthused, “I can feel the love”. NOT!
Something up this person’s sleeve? Even after being entirely humiliated by being ousted and handed a demotion, this La-la Land, “I’m Special”, Space Alien was still in—La-La Land. I’m not sure that Obama’s even registering the huge disconnect between him and the electorate. ’Remember, as far as he’s concerned, he’s the Won—the ONLY Won!
What a maroon.
Barry's toolbox:
-A nice barritone voice
-An ease at reading texts
-Clean, nice looking black man to hypnothise the guilt infected progressives
-A lefty and Democrat; assuring him popular MSM/Entertainment industry support
Barry's condition:
-Non intellectual (Which often make him a liar simply by ignorance)
-Lazy (See non intellectual)
-Narcissist (Committed to himself first)
Barry needs to do the "View" again, this time tap dance.
Did anyone check with Lettermam's people yet? Maybe we can still get him on the "stupid pet tricks" segment. Forsure that will bolster voters...........
Posted by: Knight 99 at August 24, 2010 10:31 AMRemember for whom Pres 0 sided when Honduras had its crisis a year back? He sided with the president against the constitution of the country. That is what I believe "up his sleeve". Our constitution is meaningless to him, and all he needs is votes - any will do- dead people, illegals, etc, it doesn't matter. We are trusting in the vote to clean up the mess. He is trusting in the vote to do whatever he wants it to do. Read ACORN's child doing his bidding. Pres 0 is not trying to win an election. He doesn't have to when the minions will provide the votes for him.

Posted by: nurseinbox at August 24, 2010 12:21 PMI think everybody is focusing too much on the president. He is little more than a pretty face that the party sticks out in front of the media to read speeches and get elected. Once they are in power they really don't have much more use for him besides reading the occasional prepared speech. That's why he is one vacation so much. It's the Democrat party and the people behind them that are the real danger to the US and are doing all these corrupt things. The other problem is once Obama is finally turfed he will take all the blame for all the damaging decisions and the party will walk away from him looking clean in all this. I'll bet after he's gone many democrats will even come out saying they never really wanted him as president and it was all a big mistake. Almost all of you seem to be falling into this trick of blaming everything on the scapegoat instead of the party. What's at issue is the damage being done by the Democrat party and don't let them away with it no matter who they currently have in as their speech reader.
