I agree. I don't think most people understand how perilous the political situation is in Canada. I've made my view clear before that a Liberal government in some form is eminent. That said, Harper has been pro-active selecting a Constitutional scholar for GG. Harper was also careful not to select a GG that's a Conservative hack, someone with a demonstrate-able bi-partisan history. Regardless of the facts though, he will be perceived in the public as the aforementioned "Conservative hack"; after all, he is old, and white.

Every election is the most important, not just the last one.

The States has a huge advantage as with each new administration, they fire the civil servant heads and replace them with "their own kind". They follow their leader and his policies and directives. That is why Obama has done so much harm to the Republic, he has so many socialist in place who believe like he does and wants control of the people.

The only way to stop this "agent of change" is to swing the balance of power away from his control...not that he follows the Constitution anyway!

But I am not sure that the emotional angst of the electorate in Canada is anywhere near that of the electorate in the US. Harper has steered us through the recession, is managing our economy, our foreign affairs and etc - competently and even, to the admiration of the international world. The situation in the US is completely different. There, we have a statist radical group in power, the radicals who control Obama and want to insert statist socialism into the US. What will the Democrats do to retain power? Anything and everything. Racism is one key tool. But I think that Obama will let Congress take the fall. He's psychologically unable to accept responsibility for anything anyway. Then, he'll set himself up as a victim of a GOP dominated Congress.

However, my question is - whether the Democrats are ready to dump Obama? He is harming their political ambitions and the question then moves to - will they and when - will they dump him?

I agree, but I think he has misread the current landscape. With the Liberals in such a pickle, I don't think they will be itching for another election and have proven so several times already. I still hold out a faint hope that Harper is saving the best for the last and will give his base at least some of what they want (Section 13 for example) prior to the next election. I'm just not sure whether the Liberals can solve their problems, but if they can't I'm certain we're looking at a Liberal Party led by someone with more savvy, maybe Bob Rae. I wonder how he would go down with Ontarioans who remember the days when he was Premier?

I'm also not sure if we will ever see majority governments again. At the very least they will be very rare, as long as Quebec keeps sending the Bloc to Ottawa.

Aaron, do you remember Joe Clark's run at the job? He governed as though he had a majority and fat lot of good it did him. He lasted only a year. Different times, perhaps (he was somewhat of a fuddy-duddy up against Trudeau-mania), but still it was a lesson which I think still haunts the conservative side of the political spectrum.

And I still think the usual pattern of governments serving full terms is pretty much just what we're witnessing here. They've dealt with some important issues in the first third of their term (still have a way to go on some of those, though, like the criminal justice system, and immigration policy) as a signal to their base and they're are leaving the big ones 'till last. People have short memories and will usually vote on the basis of the governing party's most recent behavior/accomplishments/screw-ups. Soooo, what I'm saying is, expect the big ones to unfold over the next year or so, and maybe, if the Lib-NDP pact manages to bring the government down, they even become election issues. Most certainly, they will be on our minds when we hobble down to the polling stations.

I have all of those expieriences ,and they have chainged me to be the person i am today , i am a god fearing christian man who is getting married ,and i want to have four kids with my wife (or at least we plan on it ) i graduated highschool ,i don't speak french,i graduated college,i am an aircraft maintenance enginneer,i pay my taxes ,i am a blue collar middle class workin man, i love guns,i beleive in the right to defend your personal property especially if it is your land,your home your car ,your kids,or your wife ,by what ever means necessary to stop an intuder,invader,thug,thief, what ever and there will only be grief for the thug's the vitcom has already been through enough .

I beleive in owning unregisterd guns hand guns so on and so forth the only thing i would want notice of is automatic weapons ,no special permit's reqwuired to carry or to transport any guns just a requirement to notify the officer if you have a gun in the vehicle at witch point he would have no right to confiscate it for any reason unless you used it on him .

I would aboloish every single environemntal rule and law and by law and would instead give huge incentives for people,towns',cities,provinces,and companies who went above the required standard to protect the environment in witch they worked i would balance this out by having anyof the above register and have unanounced inspections to make sure they were following the rules/guidlines ecactly so they would remain true gaurdians of there working environment these progams would be strictly voluntary and anyone who registered could with draw with no penalty what so ever at any time with no recourse.

I would eliminate every single open hand toward the govornemnt i would completley cut off all funding and forgin aid to every and or any country and would focus on canadians suffering here at home . I would offset this "turning the tap off by creating a list of 500,000 charities that canadians could donate to directly with no govornment intierference and would facislitate the ease of doing so by making availible automatic wage deductions for those who choose to donate to causes outside this country,i would also ban any donations to any country,individual,or entity that wishes to harm canada or any of out true allies.

I would cut the govornemnt in half or more ,i would make manditory all account's of politicians availible to the public as well as access to the politicians and have the politicians responsible and ready to explain there purchase receipt's to any one that is a canadian citizen.

i would enact a law that is never changable that any harm done by a canadian immigrant over the last 50 years to any other canadian or ally either local or forign they are subject to with out any public recource having there citizenship stripped permanently ,as well if the crime is done on forgien soil they (except in special situations) are subject to forgien law's (again on a case by case review) .

If convicted the worst that canada could do is strip them of there citizenship, howeevr canada can intervene if torture is involved but is not required to .

I would also make very clear to immigrant's the difference between protesting and treason and the only penalty for treason is loss of citizenship permanently and an immidiate deprotation and no return .

I would open our boraders to private health care companies ,as well as other private comapnaies there would be strict moral clauses in every private contract that if there were minor inacuracies ie. a "T" not crossed or an "i" not dotted they would be moraly obligated to continue coverage same as if someone missed a payment ten years agao but never missed a payment before or since and now has brain cancer the private inssurance company could not or would not be able to void the insured at witch point i would start a program by witch there would be flat fee's to visit the doctor in a publicly funded system also new immigrant's were not entitled to free healthcare,

i would give or set aside funding for canadian inventions that would be reviewed independantly and if deemed to be a good or possitive invetion for the betterment of the world there would be small amount's of funding availible .

The govornment would never ,ever ever ,be allowed again to bail anything out including it's own military the govornment would no longer be allowed to own any buisness at all period.

I would completly abolish the welfare system,i would remove cpp, and continue to pound away at our national debt once the debt was large enough to sustain a full scale war effort for at least a decade i would start to r&d our own military equimpment and perhaps work with the u.s. military on some programs ,i would also start to go nuclear (becasue i beleive it is no body elses job to protect this nation but our own) i would cut taxes ,and would lookingo t ownership of land laws where if you don't pay your property taxes i the govornment would take it back i would try to eliminate the property tax laws period once you purchase your land it is yourl and for ever i would also forward all mineral right's to the owner of the land

I would also have a declaration of independence written up and any immigrant that takes the pledge of allegience and protest's for there country on our soil could be subject to treason.

I would remain part of the commonwealth, canada would immidiatley withdraw from the u.n. and nato.

I would make all parties privatly funded you get to office on your own accord not the govornemnt's or the tax payers , all union's in this country would be reviewed and would be forced to sit down with the companies they represent and would be told that at anytime time company has a right to eleiminate them if they feel they are being bullied .

Again there would be no more govornment funded program's like free day care ,or environmental groups ,or animal right's groups they would all be forced to find there own funding .

The govornemnt would provide free marrige councelling ,as well as relationship councelling, or possibly assistance to those in need of it anyone caught abussing the system would be subject to 10 years minimum free work sentence children in the case of the divorce would be the sole recipient's of any child support and men and women would be forced to spend time with there children unless they were pervert's or something of the sort's .

Liberalism would be declared as a mental disorder in canada as it currently is in japan.

Close down the CBC and let them find their own funding ( can not be from a political party nor from outside the country ).

If I may give you some advice - and please do not take this the wrong way ,

1- If you are the same Paul who posted
"F*** Islam!!!" on this site a couple days ago, I think you should avoid using such harsh language.
It may "scare away" even the people who feel the same way you do about certain issues.

2- Get someone (or something like microsoft) to spellcheck/proof read what you write.
I am able to see you are a smart man despite your bad spelling/typos because I do not judge things nor people by the "wrapping" but by their content, their substance.

BUT...

some people might lift their nose on you for a few spelling errors.

3- Be prepared for FEROCIOUS attacks by the media, they will do ANYthing ; spie on you, go trough your trash, dig out old comments from the internet, and they will even LIE trough their teeth to try and destroy you as they do with all conservatives ( look at what they are doing to Sarah Palin and are still doing to G.W. Yes i agree if you read the thing's that are against me up above in my first post you will see that i did live on the street's i was very very poor. As far as welfare, it does need reform. Many are abusing it but many (such as 50+ unemployed) deserve more support than currently given.
Our Military needs much more financing.
With those exceptions the reality is that only after a violent emotional event (revolution)could even a provisional government implement your platform. It would take a contemporary Oliver Cromwell.

I figured if i could i would speak and have a personal writter translate my passion to paper (i would pay for this on my own dime) but it really is my only hope .lol.

This is an absolutly terrible example but look at what hitler did he ignited a nation with a fire that was so hot it melted anything it touched until GOOD MEN DID SOMETHING . All it takes is ONE person one man with a GOOD heart to do good thing's and the pain and suffering that i wnet through made me grow a fire for my country i see our own citizens being kicked around and i get enraged i mean scream at the t.v. enraged ..i canot help it i am a first generation canadian and i have been given paradise and an opportunity here in this country and i almost pissed it away thankfully god helped ,god intervened (this is what i beleive) and i owe this country everything every opportunity i have been given and it anger's me to no end when i see these kids and 30-40 year olds just assuming these privilages they need a slap . sorry see that is me again .

They need a stern talking to about these thing's . Put it this way at seventeen i was on the street's in the middle of winter in winnipeg fighting for my back pack at three am from indians tring to steal it but it had my home work in it so i faught back and kicked the crap out of them both ....at twenty three i had graduated highschool on the honour roll ,went to aviation college (got student loans) was in my second year apprenticeship and purchased my first home a little two bedroom appartment condo in airdrie alberta .

I can say i did it but not without the help or guidence of the lord in some way i was in gang fight's where people were stabbed beaten with bat's and i walked right out un touched right through the fight six of my friends were in hospital with stab wounds.

Again i don't need or want credit or anything of that nature i just want to explain why i feel i have a right to say some of the harsh thing's i say on here i was never spoiled i was never rich non of that i starved all through highschool .

So yeah maybe i can be cold but i learned that you are owed nothing from anyone PERIOD once your 18 years old you are no longer entitled to anything from anyone at all . So i have no sympathy for that kind of crap yes there are situations were a helping hand can change someones world i am for that on a case by case review but to just blanket say here take all of these peoples money and spend how you want is F#$king rediculous.

Stephen Harper can win a majority in the next election (and it may be his call) if he handles the Tamil refugee problem, quickly and without pandering to the various minority groups. Most immigrants are not sympathetic to those who would jump the waiting line. He is crafty enough, I think, to not let the Liberals take the high moral ground on this.

Thomas Sowell says it so well. The evidence of his points is obvious in that the Marxists have become ever more blatant during the last few years. They smell victory.
