"IP Address 192.206.151.131 traced back to Toronto Star."
Posted by Kate at August 17, 2010 5:54 PMSeems the cbc likes to 'edit' as well..see Stephen Taylor's post re same

The disingenuous lefty bastard Canadian MSM at work.
Pity we don't have "FOX NORTH" up and running.
Posted by: Joe Molnar at August 17, 2010 7:12 PMThat's funny...I thought Harper was the one controlling the message.
Posted by: Darcy at August 17, 2010 7:28 PMImagine if voting via the web were allowed in Canadian elections.

Arguably, the top two stories of the last 3 or 4 years have been.
,p> 1) The environment AKA global warming. The sky is falling. We shall all perish.2)The campaign and election of Obama. Here is the man to hold up the sky and heal the planet. We are saved.
The media would not waver, and still cling,to these scenarios, except for one,Fox News. They were the only network that said 'Whoa, hold on a second, maybe there is another side to these stories'
It is turning out that they were right.Global warming and Obama are being slowly, and quite reluctantly, shown to be(diplomatically) less than genuine.
The media in Canada should be ashamed, but they are not. They will slug it out to the bitter end, doing whatever is necessary to prolong their life, but the writing is on the wall, along with the dwindling numbers. They are afraid.
Their existence depends on having a willing government accomplice. 'Fox North' will not be helping them.
Posted by: wallyj at August 17, 2010 8:34 PMI smell desperation.
Posted by: Revnant Dream at August 17, 2010 8:47 PMThe only sin for a lefty masquerading as a journalist is to "get caught" doing something unethical but in their eyes, for the greater good. The action itself is fully justifiable. The Star "reporters" must have real budget envy of the CBC as also an entity that no one watches / reads but doesn't have to ever worry about going under. Unemployment can't come soon enough for the smug, ruling class, influence pimps.
Posted by: John Chittick at August 17, 2010 9:19 PMI would hope that rather than pursue legal action against the Star, Ford uses this as the basis for many many lead-ins to his campaign speeches.
Ridicule is the appropriate response to this.

RGR that, Gimbol
Posted by: zilla at August 17, 2010 10:14 PMI would hope that Rob Ford squeezes enough dime juice out of the Toronto Red Star to finance all his campaigns for the next ten years.
Pillaging Torstar, burning it to the ground (financially of course) and sowing salt in the ashes is the appropriate response to this. Maybe if half the liberal elite media in Canada were suddenly and permanently out of a job the other half would at least start being a little more careful about lying, cheating and stealing in support of the Liberal Party.
Never hesitate to do unto the enemy what he's trying to do unto you.
Posted by: The Phantom at August 17, 2010 10:32 PMMaybe I'm missing an enormous clue but how badly does Toronto need another communist mayor? Seriously. If not Rob Ford, at least vote in someone who doesn't like sticking it to working families.
Posted by: Osumashi Kinyobe at August 17, 2010 10:48 PMAnd the person who noticed the Wiki vandalism, ES, has commented at the Sun posting about this that he (or she) contacted the Star on August 5 about this, and has been ignored. (And wondering if they'll get back to him (or her) now.)
And there's no reason the Star can't be mocked and sued at the same time.
BTW, the Star has closed all of its comments. And I don't know if it's related, but National Newswatch only has two links at the moment to Star stories out of its usual 50 or so.
Posted by: andycanuck at August 17, 2010 10:50 PMTo Gimbal and Zilla. Forget the short term gain of getting Ford elected through this story. Find a lawyer and a sympathetic judge and nail them to the wall. Forget about winning battles and concentrate on winning the war.
Posted by: rebarbarian at August 17, 2010 11:15 PMTracking an IP address is simple. Proving who was pounding the keyboard is another story. An employee, or even the cleanup staff could come into my office and use my computer. How would I know that?
Posted by: Citizen at August 18, 2010 12:41 AMWhat, you don't password protect your system when you leave it unattended?
BIOS password?
PGP drive encryption?
Geez. I'm required to have all that and more. Heck, I need a keyfob to start the VPN connection, with much more to get anywhere. Where do you work again?
And with all of those? Logging, logging, logging.
You think that all those companies out there DON'T pay attention to what their employees are doing on their dime? You know, that whole "no expectation of privacy" thing while using assets and/or bandwidth that isn't yours?
I.T. at the Star could point out exactly what computer that came down to, right down to access times, usage, visited sites, and more. Will they? Nah. Most likely they've been directed to delete and clear logs (I redirected from /dev/null, not to!) and 'whoops', you have plausible deniability.
Global warming ... shown to be... less than genuine.
You're missing the important details.
Global warming is real, but it's not caused by humans.
The slimey Star and National Newswatch are the same thing andycanuck, and it looks like Peeair Bourque is tied into the lieberal brown bag gravy train also from the looks of his headlines anymore, used to think he had a decent site, Not anymore. There is a huge leftie factory somewhere, none of us can locate it, but it spits out stupid lefties for the media to hire hourly it seems.
Posted by: bartinsky at August 18, 2010 9:13 AMThis never happened. It will never be reported. It's already down the memory hole.
Posted by: grok at August 18, 2010 10:20 AMI USED to check out Bourque until the left-slant.
Kate's usually #1 or 2 in my day to see what's up and worthy.
The other being the National Post.
Posted by: Curious at August 18, 2010 1:10 PMNational Newswatch will not reveal the names of the principals involved in the website.
My guess it is an arm of one of Canada's major corporate news media or at the very least a group of employees of one of the majors!
Bourque's site, I suspect, will sell to the highest bidder as a business insofar as headlines are concerned, although I believe Pierre to be a Liberal.
Bourque himself has treated me fairly and without compensation when I asked.
