Not Waiting For The Asteroid

Newsmax, a magazine catering to US conservatives, reported the second fastest circulation rise, nearly doubling to 182,000. [...] Newsweek circulation fell 40 per cent in the first six months of the year compared with the comparable year-ago period as part of a deliberate cost-cutting initiative and strategy to court higher-end readers.

The Liberal press is still waiting for the Obama handout. Why should they care about numbers?
Its not like they're in Buisness. An arm of the Government needs no customers. Only tax payers backs to ride upon.
The divide will just become as big as the Rift Vally in Africa soon. Even lefties can feel it.
Media that tells the truth is the fad today. Not pretty lies for diversion.
These forms of Media turned on its own patrons. They deserve ignominy at their own hands. The lies have become too stark to ignore with what is happening in the World of Flesh.

Newsweak, (sic) worth exactly 1 dollar.

I actually read NewsMax everyday now.

Anything is better than the Lieberal rags!

To point out the obvious, The more people who read conservative papers and the less people read liberal papers the better it is for future elections. I'm just hoping that if any of these liberal papers or tv shows try to swing to the right to recapture audience share they will be ostracized even more.

Demographics are with us. To the extent that Canadians (and Americans) who are older tend to vote conservative or republican, the aging population may work well. As soon as young people who have worked hard for their few bucks, they learn that socialism and communism might not serve their interests well. The baby boom rules ...

That was one of those "let me fix the headline for you" articles:

-LIBERAL- magazines fail to regain circulation.

Bwaha!

The true believers within the MSM and WH admin have no interest in the govt bailing out formerly fat now starving cat private owners of the Obamugabe "radish" chorus.

The false narrative that the media conducts itself as it does in order to sell papers (or time)just died.

Posted by: ward at August 10, 2010 10:54 PM

This is good news. Liberal media's circulation dropping fast. People are waking up to the spin.

Hopefully the SunTV news TV station starts up here in Canada in the new year as planned and counters the progressives on CBC and CTV.

Hmmm. No disrespect L but the boomers are where most of the tax and spend governments came from. Not all boomers by any means, but a lot. I suggest people read a book called Boom, Bust and Echo (sorry - authors name escapes me right now).

The boomers had the (western) world by the tail. Basically, if you couldn't do well in the 50s, 60s and 70s you were really unlucky or just a screw up.

As someone born in 1959, I was among the last dregs of the boomers. When I entered the workforce (permanent full time employment)in mid 1979 we were just about to experience the Japanese influx of technology and products that started the right(down)-sizing of corporate North America. For the past 31 years I have seen the huge corporation that employs me shrink for many, many reasons. Too many to list but demographics is among the top few causals. Information technology and satisfying the shareholders are others...

The boomers gave us the governments that believed in entitlement and 'tax and spend' programs to take the burden off of the individual (the people who had to look after Grandma) and put her in a home at the taxpayers expense. Let's use tax dollars to take care of everyone!!! That seemed to be the mantra until very recently when the chickens are finally finding their way home to roost.

Now, I (who will be out of the work force in the foreseeable future and my children - and their children will be picking up the tab for the older boomers who want CP, OAS and extensive health care as well as their own savings, pensions and RRSPs for those responsible enough to have put them away.

The boomer may rule but I hope they at least do what L suggests and fix what they collectively broke through greed, entitlement and just plain ignorance.

God help my children 20 or 30 years from now.

Someone should point this fact out to poor old Peeair Bourque, over at his once mildly useful newssite he has gone completely jiggy with Iggy. The dolt from Harvard must have promised the little lickspittle a position of somekind because he for some months now has turned into a hyper national newswatch/grope and fail we hate Harper all the time waste of bandwidth!

Posted by: bartinsky at August 11, 2010 12:30 AM

bartinsky - what can I say but that you are so correct. Bourque is so pathetic.

Posted by: a different bob at August 11, 2010 12:42 AM

I quite reading Bourque a few months ago. He has turned Liberal.

And there are those who are apparently waiting patiently for the Astroid ( http://www.thestar.com/opinion/editorialopinion/article/845780--mcquaig-f-35-jets-are-useless-without-war ) I am not usually a betting man, but I have to bet the house on this exactor - "civilised man and the F-35"... I got this funny feeling that tree huggers and peace-keepers are no match for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Omar Khadr. Kinda like that creepy feeling you get when you think about Jack Layton, Iggy, Greenpeace, PETA and the HRC !

So, despite all the lofty rhetoric condemning the "mainstream media" for its apparent liberal bias, what you're really saying is that media bias and spin are perfectly acceptable to you, as long as it skews conservative?

Posted by: Davenport at August 11, 2010 9:07 AM

Read the NP lately, it's gone so far left you have to read it laying on your side. Statistically Media outlets that are liberal biased are bleeding revenue and still they report the news, or should I say contrive the news, with a liberal friendly filter. Stuck on stupid, extremely poor business planning or waiting for a financial windfall once the libs are esconced back into the PMship?

Posted by: rose at August 11, 2010 9:10 AM

Davenport. Only a liberal would think that telling the truth is media bias and spin.

Posted by: gord at August 11, 2010 9:12 AM

gord: "Davenport. Only a liberal would think that telling the truth is media bias and spin."

gord, only the most blinkered of ideologues would think that a news organization that publicly boasts that its website is "the #1 conservative news agency online" and its magazine is "the leading conservative publication in America" is free of bias and spin.

Bar, Bob & Ken, you are so right about Bourque...What a total Iggy Liberal he has become...Watching his headlines, you would think Harper and Co are completely toast a la Obama and that a Liberal majority is imminent.

He got all tingly up his whatever when Ipsos reid did a poll that 'technically' puts the major parties neck & neck...
...A political poll, in the middle of summer vacation, in Canada, when no major issues are bothering the average shoulder shrugging shmuck from coast to coast except the ones that are perceived to be, thanks to hard working MSM and their 'scandal' fabrications like the sensus form wet petard.
I bet you that poll caught a majority people in the big urban centers who are on the lower end of the pay scale and/or simply welfare recepients. We know who they tend to vote for.
That poll is as accurate as a wet finger in the wind.

It seems plausible Bourque was approached and promised something or another because he shiffed so quickly...He was never Conservative like Drudge but he was at least centrist before.

Is there another news compiler in Canada other than Bourque? I dont think so...So I'll keep his link just for a quick glance at what our usual lackluster journalist commentators have to say.

I just avoid reading Peeair's over the top "prologues".

Bourque's abrupt change could be a topic Kate might consider for a thread.

Yes Davenport, Newsmax claim to be "Conservative", meaning that their "bias" is up front and transparent.

The difference lies in principles. The left will lie, cheat, steal, and cut-and-paste to ruin good people in order to push their progressive, big government agenda. To them the ends do justify any means.

To Conservatives, the truth, character, and integrity are paramount.

Posted by: Marko at August 11, 2010 9:46 AM

Davenport, ask yourself what will happen to a Conservative news magazine caught lying the way the MSM outlets do all the time. Imagine Rush Limbaugh for example in a Dan Rather moment. He'd be out of business in a -heartbeat-. Conservatives would write him off instantly.

And ask yourself, why are Liberal/lefty magazines like NewsWeak never labeled as such, but Conservative ones like NewsMax proudly proclaim their "bias" right on the mast head.
