Y2Kyoto: The Greenpeace Militia

The climate fascists are getting restless...

Emerging battle-bruised from the disaster zone of Copenhagen, but ever-hopeful, a rider on horseback brought news of darkness and light: "The politicians have failed. Now it's up to us. We must break the law to make the laws we need: laws that are supposed to protect society, and protect our future. Until our laws do that, screw being climate lobbyists. Screw being climate activists. It's not working. We need an army of climate outlaws."

The proper channels have failed. It's time for mass civil disobedience to cut off the financial oxygen from denial and skepticism.

If you're one of those who believe that this is not just necessary but also possible, speak to us. Let's talk about what that mass civil disobedience is going to look like.

If you're one of those who have spent their lives undermining progressive climate legislation, bankrolling junk science, fueling spurious debates around false solutions, and cattle-prodding democratically-elected governments into submission, then hear this:

We know who you are. We know where you live. We know where you work.

And we be many, but you be few.

Maybe. But I'll wager we have more ammo.

Update: From the comments - "It's not like they didn't warn us..."

Great post. Click on the link and read the comments. Almost all the commenters are appalled by the article:

"May I suggest that you clean your own house, kick out the progressives who co-opted your organization for their lame political agenda and get back to protecting earth and living creatures from REAL threats, (like wind turbines that kill 100,000's of birds each year all over the world or biofuel mandates that will eventually starve the third world.)"

I think Greenpeace has pissed in their cornflakes on this one.

Posted by: mikeg81 at April 4, 2010 11:12 AM

Might I suggest they sell their vehicles, eliminate all air travel, cancel their electrical and gas supply contracts, as stop using power hungry cell phones. That will show the man who has the power.

Posted by: qwerty1 at April 4, 2010 11:14 AM

Doesn't look like they are getting a whole lot of support in the comments.

Greenpeace doesn't realize what it means when the sign says, "Don't feed the wildlife". Up to this point the world has pretty much tolerated Greenpeace, I believe it is soon though that the ordinary public will unleash their frustrations on them.

Posted by: Knacker at April 4, 2010 11:17 AM

I'll wager we are not as 'few' as the civil disobedienters think we are. Their mumbo jumbo has been exposed and they have nothing but their hatred for our wonderful western culture to run with. The climate is functioning as is it should ... lot's of weather with some surprises ... as always.

Their side has Al Gore and some discredited pretend scientists along with many unscrupulous windmill hockers looking for tax money .... and we have reality and the strong human desire to protect out way of life.

Too bad about Dolton McSquinty blowing billions on the S Koreans big windmill scam in Ontario. That will be watching that big ship sink for about twenty years with nothing but a huge debt and a tax flogged public to show for it.

I'm so hoping they act on their threats. Then it'll be on.

Posted by: bryceman at April 4, 2010 11:54 AM

After all the lying and over-the-top shrill rhetoric has clearly failed radical environmentalists, direct action is the only card they have left to play.
(they seem to have forgotten that they were trying to stampede people into supporting them with threats and now they are planning on being the threat?)

What they don't seem to understand is that most people are ambivalent toward environmentalism until it starts to cost them and then people get active.
If the environmental activists are the ones who are costing them, ambivalent people will throw support in with the other side.
(our side)

Meanwhile government is going to be jealous about keeping it's own monopoly on the use of violence because it happens to be how it maintains the right to govern.

I would bet for greenpeace. Western governments are thick with the stupidity of the environmentalist movement and the environmentalist wackos are fanatical in their devotion to this cult. Plus, if they started violence, the Liberal mainstream media would be stuck having to report it, thus proving indeed the Leftwing is plagued by violence. Remember, the mainstream media, under orders from the White House are doing their best to link the tea party people with Nazis, Klansmen, and general thugs and killers. They can't be allowed to show the obvious - that the majority of violence comes from the Left and that our President had his career launched in the livingroom of two Weather Underground terrorists.

[I wrote this little polemic in 1994 after many years of fussing and fuming about the changes that had come over my beloved Greenpeace. In retrospect it seems a little harsh but it gets the point across. The essay was published in this form in Leadership Quarterly, 5(3/4), 1994] Patrick Moore

In retrospect, Patrick, it is not harsh at all.

I would hope CSIS takes these guys seriously. It doesn't take much to disrupt power lines and pipelines, as long as the Greenpeace Freedom Fighters can make homemade bombs, they can do some serious damage. We have thousands of miles of exposed power lines here, and any shithead with a rifle can create havoc.

Remember the infamous "Squamish Five", a bloody joke, but we have lots of enviro-whackos who still think they're heroes. I worked with a guy back in the 80's, B.C. Forest Service, who blurted out one day,"those guys were my heroes", and apparently many of his friends thought so too.

We can enjoy making fun of these people, but they CAN do significant damage, and again, I hope CSIS and the RCMP are keeping a close eye on them.

"The above blog entry is about encouraging civil disobedience and non-violent direct action - the kind of nonviolent methods that liberated Gene's country from imperialism - in the face of a global threat to our planet's climate.
While I encourage and appreciate discussion, the comments I have received (including around 30 not approved), death threats and hints of rape aren't the kind of things that will be approved here.
I am closing the comments for now - a decision that may or may not be changed in the future. I apologize to the people who came here for honest discussion about Greenpeace's tactics. Hopefully I will be able to re-open the comments soon to have that kind of discussion."

Greenpeace has a most potent weapon: flaming stink bombs. As a group, they will eat beans for days, then congregate at a target and and on the count of three all break wind. Then their leader will light a match and the whole cadre will go up in a burning ball of flaming gaseous methane. They will be singing their anthem as they return to there maker; the anthem:
Beans beans the musical fruit
The more you eat the more you toot.
The more you toot, the better you feel
So let's eat beans at every meal.

Posted by: Claude Hopper at April 4, 2010 2:59 PM

I don't get the idea that this is a departure for Greenpeace. Civil Disobedience seems part of their essence.
Perhaps an increaced stress on legal battles, as indicated in the first part of the post, may be the real intent, and this is a bit of a head-fake.
Taking the long view -- the recent report on Koch Industries looks like case preparation.

The oil compmanies have made bits of money [by their standards] go a longway, given the plethora of enthusiastic amateurs that work for nothing.
Many of the paid performers are retreads from the Tobacco Wars -- perhaps Greempeace will apply the anti-tobacco techniques.

As an aside, I somehow doubt that people who scale nuclear-plant towers & play chicken with whalers are likely to be intimidated by Tough Talking Typists who threaten to kick thier balls.

Posted by: sasquatch at April 4, 2010 3:23 PM

Well I see it as self defeating. Most of the targets are in out of the way places. Forests, oil sands and water. They could get lost out there. Even if people know they were headed in that direction it could take a long time to find them. Sasquatch might get 'em. Who knows? Personally if they chained themselves to my tower I would warm it up to make them comfy. Wouldn't call the cops they can be charged with trespass when they come down.

Posted by: Speedy at April 4, 2010 3:42 PM

Talk about naive. The only reason they haven't been written off before now is that their advances were incremental, only effecting the rest of us marginally. But the theory of catastrophic global climate change has altered that. With the advent of $4.50/gallon gasoline and a President who takes cap and trade seriously, a confrontation is now likely. Then we'll find out who be many and who be few.

We've been lulled into accepting a lot of progressive nonsense over the past century, but I think we're waking up and thinking about the real implications of it for our future, both as a nation and and individuals with rights.

Al Gore's Weather (AGW): Debatez-Moi?

Go to ZuzukiWeb and sign in for Debatez-Moi.

Liberal Egghead Citoyen Kyoto Dion has reserved his place.

Topique: "France’s two most prominent sceptics, Claude Allegre and Vincent Courtillot, have sown great doubt in the minds of a once unskeptical French public."

Tsktsk

...-

"Lawrence Solomon: France to hold official debate on climate change

At the suggestion of France’s science minister, Valérie Pécresse, France’s National Academy of Sciences will hold an official debate on climate change to try to defuse this newly explosive issue..

The Academy of Sciences debate, expected to be held by October of this year, follows two months of heated debate on radio and television, during which France’s two most prominent sceptics, Claude Allegre and Vincent Courtillot, have sown great doubt in the minds of a once unskeptical French public. Allegre’s new book, L'imposture climatique (The Climate Fraud), has especially caused the French public to reconsider the conventional wisdom about global warming. In this runaway best-seller (110,000 copies sold to date), Allegre, France’s most celebrated scientist and a former Science Minister in a socialist government, calls the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a "mafia-like system" that promotes a "baseless myth" about climate change.

In an attempt to stop the erosion of their public support, some 410 establishment scientists petitioned the current science minster, asking her to rebuke the skeptics and to express confidence in the climate research community. Her response was to turn to France’s National Academy with a request for a debate on the subject. The Academy’s president, Jean Salençon, readily agreed in the hopes that an airing of the issues would calm some of the fury on the subject.

Noting that the Academy does not take sides on the issue, and that the Academy’s website already reports the views of scientists on both sides of the debate, Salençon aims to defend the scientific method and the principles of scientific inquiry, not any one scientific position. When asked if sanctions might be in the cards for Allegre, a member of the Academy, or any other climate sceptics, he replied: "Under no circumstances! There is no question of ethical sanctions. Even less of an expulsion. The nomination for the Academy of Sciences is perpetual. It cannot be reversed, not even through a resignation.”

The participants in the October debate have not yet been determined."

About fifteen, maybe twenty years ago my little City Parks Dept. planned to remove half a dozen huge, grossly over mature Douglas Fir trees before they could blow down possibly crushing several neighboring homes. The local Greenie-Weeinies in their wisdom bravely "scaled" several of these Matriarchs of the Urban Forest Primeval to protect them from the eeeevile chainsaw tree murderers. A quick subscription of a few onlookers garnered fifty or sixty dollars, half of which was wisely invested in beer and brats, the other half in Wrist Rocket slingshots and a few boxes of malted milk balls. Do you have any idea how bad a malted milk ball stings at a distance of thirty feet up a tree when propelled by a good quality Wrist Rocket sling shot? Or how far a mouthful of Heinicken's will spray at the plaintive squeals of a whimpering, oh so brave, tree scaling (trespassing) tree hugger? Especially one who has been warned that his threatened golden shower would be answered with steel ball bearings instead of candy.

A dozen or so local hoolig.......youths spent a happy weekend camped in nearby yards taking turns pelting the Greenie Weenies with malted milk balls and garden hoses for a day and through a night. Monday morning the trees came down.

Of course they'll come for us, it's what the progressive socialists do hunt down desenters and use mob violence to silence the majority. Personally I keep a nine iron by the door in anticipation of said visits from the loony left, funny how quickly those snot and bawlers leave their safe zone when they are on a tirade.

I've known Gene for a few years. He's pretty hard core all right, but in a completely chilled out peaceful way.

He's Indian, and he's only calling for the same peaceful civil disobedience that freed his country from the British.

To be clear, Greenpeace has stuck by it's ethic of non-violent direct action for 39 years. And we're not about to change.

If you read the whole post (thanks for the link) then you'll see that it's all in the context of exposing the political and moneyed powers through peaceful action.

I am saving the world. Everyone must believe like me. My most fervent beliefs are constantly under attack by non-believers. I will never consider that I may be mistaken. Intimidation, vandalism, threats and violence against the others is OK.

The environmental movement is in need of psychiatric help.

I hate to break it to you "brave" eco-fascists, but YOU are the ones with the political and money powers. You're the ones sucking up billions of dollars yearly in junk science AGW research. You're the ones who've convinced banks they need Vice Presidents in charge of Climate Change. You're the ones who have most mainstream media outlets parrotting your bilge without thought or analysis.

Quit acting like you're some sort of underdog heroes, you totalitarian jackasses.

Post the comments then Andrew , if you're keeping tabs on this debacle .

Posted by: Bill D. Cat at April 4, 2010 6:16 PM

Andrew:

I don't see where Gene is openly and plainly threatening violence on anyone (although saying "we know where you live" is stupidity its ownself).

But he does counsel others to break the law, which is a crime. He even uses the phrase "outlaw".

Questions: Is civil disobedience now an approved policy for Greenpeace? Is counseling someone to break the law also approved? Is it okay to use tthe Greenpeace web site for these purposes?

Posted by: rabbit at April 4, 2010 6:30 PM

Recently, my pragmatic brother-in-law, a federal Liberal at the ballot box, stood up at a community meeting about Climate Change, and announced to the crowd, "It's all bullshit."
Gotta love the Irish!

Posted by: chutzpahticular at April 4, 2010 6:31 PM

I read the poster's threat as the vandalism variety like shutting down an oilsands operation. I suppose that the radical(er) fringe may ramp it up to include energy disruption but that would only accomplish rejection by moderates and donors. Besides, the big energy companies are diversified and operate in many locations. At best, the end result of supply disruption would be to temporarily raise prices for consumers and create overtime for workers (except the UK, where eco-vandalism was given a legal stamp of approval - http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/climate-change/cleared-jury-decides-that-threat-of-global-warming-justifies-breaking-the-law-925561.html)

The biggest threat from unhinged activists are those working in government bureaucracy not the ones illegally scaling a dragline.

Posted by: LC Bennett at April 4, 2010 6:45 PM

Anyone who believes in AGW is a damned fool. They're a bigger damned fool if they go looking to force that stupidity on people with better sense and more firepower.

The Left has long maintained that they have a monopoly on political violence. If they push too hard they'll be proven dead wrong in that assumption. They're on the verge of pushing too hard RIGHT NOW. They would be extremely wise to back off.

In a previous life I was an explosive ordnance disposal guy. I did my training with the British army and remember being told that in terms of number of calls, if not the severity, the biggest threat their guys had was the Animal Liberation Front. It was a huge campaign against farmers, research labs, furriers, dog breeders, just about anyone who was involved with anything to do with animals. Very little of it was picked up by the press. I am sure we can take them, but don't underestimate the number and insanity of these whackjobs.

I sometimes think about Green Enviro-Fascists as I walk around my ten acres in North Georgia, admiring the spectacular views available because of the trees I cut down. I worry about attacks from enviro-loons as I exercise my freedom to do as I wish with my property... but then I lower my hand and gently stroke the side of whichever tactical rifle I have slung over my shoulder and then think... "Yes, it could be very interesting if one of these lib control freaks attacks me on my property..."

Then I laugh. It's still an hour to sunset, I think I'll crank my 20" chain saw and cut down a tree... and burn it, it might get chilly tonight. :-)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but no member of ALF has ever been arrested and interrogated.
They have never used direct confrontation, like firefights, instead they have used bombings.

If clandestine bombing is the type of direct action that environmentalists are going begin, it's going to take a lot of luck to catch them.

Imagine if Timothy McVeigh had removed the VIN and other serial numbers from the van he used at Oklahoma City or just stolen the vehicle instead of leasing it.
They never would have caught him for that one.

Dear 'greenpeace',

Frankly I think it would be a real SHAME if something happened to those nice whales of yours.

Also, since you want to be scary thugs, you should be made aware that:

1.) there is really no such thing as security or anonymity anymore. If you can "find" someone, then you should presume that they can "find" you as well.

2.) your little act won't frighten your fellow inmates in prison much. And you WILL go to prison when your pals lose their green religion and rat you out because THEY don't want to go to prison.

3.) Word to the wise...I'm pretty sure that if it comes down to it, we can TAKE you.

Posted by: Cack Finger at April 5, 2010 4:31 AM

Dear Gene, for every second someone like you remains alive on this planet threatening other human beings... God kills a whale... Pls do the right thing...

P.S. If any of you Greenpeace terrorists come near my kids, be warned that I own a gun and will use it if necessary.

I love that they asked for “Public Defenders”, now they know about the undercover FBI agent. The simpleton Tea baggers keep missing the point. These are the same whiners that were crying when the McCain/Bailin ticket lost. Now they are crying again because their yelling (because they are haters not debaters) did not stop health care from passing. They think they can scare, intimidate and force others to go along with them by comments like “This time we came unarmed”, let me tell you something they are not the only ones that are armed and not all ex-military join the fringe militia crazies who don’t pay taxes and run around with face paint in the parks playing commando, the majority are mature and understand that the world is more complicated and grey then the black and white that these simpleton make it out to be and that my friend is the point. Do not cry when regular people openly laugh at your group when they see on TV that your leaders are Sarah Bailin, Orly Taitz, Victoria Jackson, Michele Bachmann and that turn coat Glenn Beck from the LDS. They do more to discredit you on TV (powerful) than any of my comments do in the blog sphere.

Be prepared to defend yourself against not only the garden variety criminals but self-selected environmental jihadists...and all for the sake of the IPCC's lies, Al Gore's lies, Michael Mann's lies, and the lies of the other pseudo-scientists who have twisted the data to meet their agenda.

Video's like this are deliberate hate speech, and "greenpiece" should be barred from YouTube and any other responsible outlet for them.

The extremist militias are, well, extremist militias. Your assumption that they are somehow affiliated with conservatism is what Freud calls "projection," is utterly lacking in evidentiary support.

In any event, yours is an illogical conclusion: "Because Greenpeace apologized for its own post, therefore the GOP must apologize for militias." Riiiiiiight.
