Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!

amazing likeness, as is the one on the back of the nickle.

Let's only hope she doesn't get into next leaders debate, pre election. A hyperactive terrier has more class then she does.

Posted by: nnm at January 25, 2010 12:00 PM

I am not the type to blow it all over the keyboard, but upon seeing this it was a flogers shower I tell ya. Holy sheite that was disturbing...and quite funny.

Posted by: wuberman at January 25, 2010 12:01 PM

Funny..Lizzie has always had that effect on me,just wanting to scream at the look of her,the sound of her.She would make the top ten list of most annoying politicians ever for sure.

Posted by: Sammy at January 25, 2010 12:03 PM

Time to laminate the keyboard.

Posted by: h.ryan at January 25, 2010 12:05 PM

Kind of reminds me of Kim Campbell.

Posted by: glacierman at January 25, 2010 12:07 PM

Is that a cross she is wearing? Religion AND politics from a greenie? say it ain't so.

Posted by: Texas Canuck at January 25, 2010 12:09 PM

She got it wrong again, we hoped she'd take a long walk on a short pier, not the other way around.

Posted by: Al the fish in frozen Manitoba at January 25, 2010 12:10 PM

Speaking of election expenses.....

Posted by: jcl at January 25, 2010 12:13 PM

Kate, its going to take a while to get the coffee off my monitor. ~:D

Posted by: The Phantom at January 25, 2010 12:16 PM

The portrait on the right is Lizzie May covering her ears and saying, "LA, la, la, la, LAAA, I can't hear you!" to reality.

Here is a group portrait of Michael Ignatieff, Jack Layton, and Gilles Duceppe, signatories of the Bloc Coalition Agreement:

Of course the resembence would be even better if she stopped cramming food in her face and lost a hundred pounds.

Posted by: bob at January 25, 2010 12:24 PM

Black Jack Shellac once said:

"Da crayzy beavers built anador dam"...

Looks like liz wants to ban liquid wood treatment for decks and stuff...Poor thing can't even chew on that pier without risk of poisoning.

Posted by: Right Honorable Terry Tory at January 25, 2010 12:29 PM

Yes, but art is subjective...non?

Posted by: glacierman at January 25, 2010 12:30 PM

She's on the wrong side of everything.
That's what sending off to GERMANY for a political-party-in-a-box will do to anyone.

She needs to lay off the Iscream (sp).

Posted by: richfisher at January 25, 2010 12:32 PM

Hmmm, one depicts a paralysing, all-encompassing pain. The individual suffers from feelings of distortion of the environment and of itself. (Wikipedia)

The other is a well-known impressionist painting.

Posted by: Craig in Goose Bay at January 25, 2010 12:33 PM

Dang, I was hoping she would still be in hibernation by now....

Posted by: Soccermom at January 25, 2010 12:33 PM

"facing increased criticism from within her own party..."

Maybe because she is actually wearing an imperialist oppressive, racist, homophobic symbol in the photo?

Posted by: Doug at January 25, 2010 12:37 PM

Bullying your way to the leadership of a fringe idiot party is the only way a homely, porcine loudmouth can get her fifteen minutes of fame. And a decent salary while it lasts.

Posted by: Abe Froman at January 25, 2010 12:42 PM

Soccermom, mammals hibernate. Lizzie is some form of lizard. Hence the name...

Doug, you forgot sexist.

Posted by: The Phantom at January 25, 2010 12:43 PM

The Greens are still in debt $3,000,000. The 1.98 from the taxpayer likely doesn't pay the interest.

Posted by: sasquatch at January 25, 2010 12:43 PM

JUMP!

Posted by: CRB at January 25, 2010 12:45 PM

Clicking on Ms May's picture there is a NP article in which one finds the following: "...most of the layoffs were a result of the party trying to accelerate payments on about $1.13-million worth of debt left over from the $3-million the party borrowed for the last election..."

Say what??? What institution would give a loan of that proportion to the Green Party of Canada???!!!! What assets do they have? Did every member have to co-sign and offer their first born, their first born's tricycle and their own Prius?

Posted by: Louise at January 25, 2010 12:47 PM

Hey Phantom, I always thought she was the Bucky the Rodent Queen....

Posted by: Soccermom at January 25, 2010 12:50 PM

Texas Canuck,

Yes that is....she is well on her way or pssibly finished divinity school.

Bigger point, she represents the next wave of politics, the Religous Left. Always been there but it is the next emerging trend.

They relaized their exhortations to do what they demanded needed additional authority.

Posted by: Stephen at January 25, 2010 12:53 PM

Well, I'm not one of those people who enjoys making fun of peoples' appearances - hence my disdain for those who mocked Harper for wearing a sweater. I think it just encourages shallow and superficial thinking. I care what people stand for, not how they photograph.

With that disclaimer out of the way, I'll say that this post is a really clever observation - and a funny juxtaposition.

Posted by: Erik Larsen at January 25, 2010 1:01 PM

Lots of funny comments, Craig in Goose Bay - nicely done!

Posted by: Erik Larsen at January 25, 2010 1:09 PM

As rude, incompetent, ignorant, and butt ugly as she is, she has managed to keep 7% of the popular vote from the NDP and Liberals ensuring PMSH's power. The bonus is she has zero representation in Parliament.

One would think that she might be torn between Jesus and Gaia with her cross displayed but I believe she is closely associated with one of those post-Christian churches, the Anglicans.

During The Clayoquot summer of protest (1993) an astute Georgia Strait columnist aptly described the protest leaders (who were metaphysical clones of Ms. May) as "Eco-Feminist Witches".

Posted by: John Chittick at January 25, 2010 1:12 PM

Ms May has damaged the Green Party brand. Her hysterical, over the top rantings and Conservative bashing has earned her much disdain. However, she will land on her political feet when or if she is turfed by the Greens. I expect her to turn up on some enviro advocacy group or perhaps the Liberals will take her under their wing. Cheers.

Posted by: fernstalbert at January 25, 2010 1:24 PM

She is the very essence of Green Party tardism. She must stay forever as leader. Unless of course they could lure to Canada some dour skeleton out of the back aisles of some Harvard health food store to champion the good fight against common sense.

Posted by: BL@KBIRD at January 25, 2010 1:28 PM

Aw, come on people, don't be so hard on Lizzie. Actually it might be better if the Greenies keep her as leader so that Joe-six-pack can see what kind of a wing-nut person she actually is.

"texas canuck says... Is that a cross she is wearing? Religion

rest easy, friend... lizzie's already made it pretty clear that she's
an enthusiastic islamophile...

"Yesterday, Stéphane Dion’s candidate in Central Nova, Elizabeth May
retracted her characterization of NATO and Canadian forces as
'Christian Crusaders'.”

of course... every once in a while, she has to choke on it.

If ever there was a 'cause and effect' posting this would be it. Whenever I see the person on the left my reaction is like the person on the right.

Posted by: Joe at January 25, 2010 1:47 PM

I beat my monitor to death with a hockey stick upon seeing the "cow"

Posted by: GYM at January 25, 2010 2:02 PM

Has May actually ever became a Canadian citizen?
According to her Wikipedia bio she moved here from Hartford Connecticut when she was 18, but it never says whether or not that she has taken out Canadian citizenship. I mean wouldn't it be rather odd that she would be able to run in elections that she legally can't vote in?

Posted by: Largs at January 25, 2010 2:02 PM

In order of political preference the Greens were my second choice - anything of course is better than the libs/ndp.... I thought the previous leader, Harris, had something on the ball. With Lizzy May i'd sooner drink battery acid with a liquid nitrogen chaser.

You Greenies out there, her style may play with the rabidly partisan but her hectoring, self righteousness and egocentics will never get u beyound fringe dweller status.

A strong Green party is good for Conservatives as John Chittick pointed out and also good for the country as it serves to help displace the lib/ndp gibberish in the public forum.

btw the the juxtapose is a scream

Posted by: Agent Smith at January 25, 2010 2:05 PM

What a neat juxtaposition, given that many believe Munch's The Scream represents one of the great historic examples of global cooling. (google Scream global cooling).

Posted by: Holmwood at January 25, 2010 2:15 PM

Sorry but "Dizzy Lizzy" is ten times as crazy as the "Scream"

Posted by: Mr.g at January 25, 2010 2:51 PM

"I'm happy to subject myself to anything," Ms. May said.

Who would have thought?...A Fruit Fly butt warmer

John Chittick wrote: "As rude, incompetent, ignorant, and butt ugly as she is, she has managed to keep 7% of the popular vote from the NDP and Liberals ensuring PMSH's power. The bonus is she has zero representation in Parliament."

Exactly. And that's not likely to change, considering her egotistical bent for taking on heavy hitters. Gary Lunn is a cabinet minister. Elizabeth May, despite her connections to the U.N./Maurice Strong/Clintons, does not inspire confidence. She has weasel tendencies.

BTW, it's the 'Georgia STRAIGHT,' if you're talking about the paper and not the body of water:)

Posted by: chutzpahticular at January 25, 2010 3:40 PM

If a tree falls somewhere in the middle of the Green Party, and everyone is to stupid to hear it, does it still make a sound?

Posted by: Vegi at January 25, 2010 3:41 PM

Wow. You guys have a LOT of time on your hands.

Posted by: marquis at January 25, 2010 3:52 PM

Marquis, I MAKE time to ridicule May.

Posted by: Soccermom at January 25, 2010 3:55 PM

On the subject of unattractive and overweight party leaders, are we quite sure that supporters of Stephen Harper are really willing to attack anyone?

Truly an odd demographic here, but then, perhaps we all discount the appeal of man boobs in our leaders.

Posted by: Kaplan at January 25, 2010 4:20 PM

Or rather, on our leaders.

Posted by: Kaplan at January 25, 2010 4:22 PM

She is apparently going to prorogue her leadership review. We must make sure she is not in the next debates, unless it is a one time debate with all the opposition leaders only.

Posted by: MaryT at January 25, 2010 4:33 PM

Just out of curiosity, isn't it incredibly environmentally disruptive to build a huge wooden structure out into a body of water?

Or is it just environmentally disruptive when it isn't being used as a photo prop by a Green Party leader?

Posted by: Andrew at January 25, 2010 4:36 PM

Notice that she is standing on the left side of the pier; coincident or subliminal message?

There is a definite likeness.

Posted by: trent at January 25, 2010 4:53 PM

"I was walking along a path with two friends — the sun was setting — suddenly the sky turned blood red — I paused, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the fence — there was blood and tongues of fire above the blue-black fjord and the city — my friends walked on, and I stood there trembling with anxiety — and I sensed an infinite scream passing through nature." Wikipedia

I was sure it was one of my hunting partners flatulence caused by a spicy dish the day before, but I won't argue against the possibility of it being a nature/music production of Elizabeth May debating over the warm tones of a category 5 hurricane.

Either way, we got the animal but the over all experience was horrible.

Posted by: Knacker at January 25, 2010 5:23 PM

Am I sexist for pointing out they were all women? I'm not saying women can't do the job. In this case I don't think they had a lot to work with. I figure the Greens would appeal more to women but 100%?

I looked, I puzzled, then I LAUGHED and LAUGHED!!!

Posted by: Gordon MacDonald at January 25, 2010 6:02 PM

The greens are in deep doo-doo these days. They are seriously in debt, the party is being run for the sake of Lizzie and not the other way around, the party has shifted strongly to the left, the rank-and-file are revolting (ahem), attempts to put Liz in the leadership debate next election will likely be strongly opposed, the environment is NOT likely to be as front-and-centre in the next election as the last, and what enthrallment Canadians may have had for May has long since worn off.

Wouldn't want to be holding their debt.

Posted by: rabbit at January 25, 2010 6:20 PM

I'd do her!

The chick in the painting that is.

Posted by: Indiana Homez at January 25, 2010 6:25 PM

You should flip the image so she is on the same side of the boardwalk as the "screamer." It would be 10% more awesome.

Posted by: Dante at January 25, 2010 6:43 PM

My instant reaction, after identifying the "beaver".....was that ironically....
she was standing on a bridge to no-where.....
like her party.

Posted by: sasquatch at January 25, 2010 6:50 PM

She lost touch with the Mother-ship years ago.
A space Lizard lost on Earth.

Posted by: Revnant Dream at January 25, 2010 7:51 PM

What the hell?! no!!!, and here I thought she was a new kind of politician, grass routes, all about democracy!!

When are lefties going to figure out that our system of government is actually quite good and something to be proud of, rather than whining like a bunch of pussies all the time?

Posted by: The Champ at January 25, 2010 7:57 PM

Champ .... they often do ... it's called gtowing up.

Those that don't are simply too simple or are our enemies.

Posted by: OMMAG at January 25, 2010 8:14 PM

Oh BTW forgot to add my 2cents on May.... she is in my opinion .... just a person who hopes to keep her face in the public trough for the whole of her life.

Hale-Bopp Revnant?

Texas Canuck: "Is that a cross she is wearing?"

Yup. She's going through seminary to become an Anglican priest: There goes the neighbourhood. There goes the Church.

Posted by: batb at January 25, 2010 9:06 PM

A Classic. Well done!.

Posted by: Ray at January 25, 2010 9:07 PM

The other day a car pulled up in front of my house and three people got out to do a bit of canvassing. To badly dressed to be missionaries I figured it must be Dizzies goofs and I was right. I didn't answer the door as I didn't want the next car pilling up a police car. They left some BS about the environment and a package of seeds, as a start to start something new, how drippy. Now I have to look at her defacing the Sidney pier, believe me, if you think she looks stupid you should see the ones that work for her.

Posted by: Western Canadian at January 25, 2010 9:19 PM

Unfortunately, Ellie May's wearing a cross hasn't warded off the delusional demons that plague her.

'Caught her with Giggles Taber this afternoon where she was saying that some folks in her party are AFRAID they'll elect MPs to the HOC.

HUH????

What makes Ms. May think the Greens will elect any MPs, especially under her leadership (sic)?

I might be squeamish about sitting in the HOC with Ms May as my "leader," too, let alone trying to run as a candidate.

Posted by: batb at January 25, 2010 9:20 PM

Looks like the White Rock pier to me...at high tide...something smells fishy and it could be the Coney Island Fish N' Chip shop just up the beach. Even if she were to jump at that location the best we could hope for would be PETA would be too late for the rescue.

Posted by: bverwey at January 25, 2010 10:24 PM

Yup. She's going through seminary to become an Anglican priest: There goes the neighbourhood. There goes the Church.

Well that ship sailed a long time ago. I saw the local Anglican Priestess coming out of the liquor store after church a few weeks ago, her collar and cross very much in evidence. She waddled across the parking lot, jumped into her pickup truck, passionately kissed her girlfriend and drove away.
