Women...women sense my power and they seek the life essence. I do not avoid women, Kate. However, I do deny them my essence.

DNA can't be swapped and traded like old hockey cards. What's his is his, what's her's is her's! You can be emotionally attached and then not give a rip, just wait until the "lovely new parents" don't want to be married any more and then the real cat fight starts. 100-2-1 says the non-egg-supplier will throw the biggest hissy-fit and demand "possession" of the child!

That's funny! One of the reasons we chose to adopt internationally is that Canadian social workers have stuffed "open adoption" down the throats of anyone hoping to adopt. The idea that it is better to have the adopted child know and have contact with the birth family sounds very progressive but when you think about the main reasons a child becomes available for adoption - seized by the ministry from abusive and neglectful parents - is it really in the best interest of the child to maintain contact? Do YOU want a heroine addict becoming "intrusive"?

What's really funny is how a lesbian couple can sue, SUE!!, because they don't get the private family experience most people see as normal but heterosexual adoptive parents in Canada are forced to act out the fantasies of lefty social workers.

"What's good for the goose..."

It's my understanding that the progressives are pushing for a child to have "rights" with respect to sperm donors, meaning financial compensation ect. I've also read stories of the mothers that have received the sperm also looking for some type of support. I'm also aware of a past story where a father's child was adopted-out without his knowing, then against his will because the mother hid the pregnancy from him and she didn't want him involved in the child’s life that she too wanted no part of.

I don't understand the legality of the issue; but things being equal, in a progressive society this father should be entitled to his share of the parenting burden.

It's hard to say which party is loonier.

My wife forbids me from giving away my sperm or even use of the applicator. Just sayin'... ;-)

At least one father behaves like he's one. Not everything is lost.

The women, who have a foster son, decided they wanted to have a child of their own

Two women can foster a child, they can adopt a child, they can even beg, borrow or steal a child; what two women can't do is have a child.

Can't these folks be content with a couple of geraniums and another cleverly-named cat?

Posted by: Roseberry at January 5, 2010 2:34 PM

I hate to ask but, is there any chance the male child might suffer mental health problems later in life after being raised by people with a negative view of men?

Psychologists?

Posted by: dmorris at January 5, 2010 3:05 PM

Everyone involved in this will lose the next couple of years ,talking about it ad nauseum, fretting, court.

Good luck with it all, like they guy said above they should have bought a geranium.

What is wrong with these people? In all likelihood they wanted a child that would mature into a loving, giving adult. From my point of view, they will raise a petty, vindicative, very selfish wastrel if the child emulates it's 'parents'. What a mess.

The world is indeed a strange place:

"Miller and Jenkins got a civil union in 2000, and the girl was born to Miller after a pregnancy that began with artificial insemination.

They broke up a year later, and Miller moved to Virginia, setting the stage for a custody fight that has been closely watched by gay rights advocates, as well as conservative religious groups.

Courts in Virginia and Vermont have ruled in favor of Jenkins, even though she is not the biological mother. The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear arguments on it."

I think the headline is literally "words to live by"

Well, what would anyone expect? A normal birth, a blended family, and everyone living happily ever after?

This is an utterly irregular situation with the only possible result being a dysfunctional family and, quite likely, a very troubled kid.

What were they THINKING???

TV movie of the week: Two Lesbians, One Sperm Donor, and a Baby

dmorris:

My thoughts exactly. How do these water-blocking devices intend to raise the child? As a homosexual? As a bisexual? Intra-species, perhaps?

I sense another Marc Lepine 16 or 17 years from now.

Beware indeed, especially if they are carrying it in their mouth....

Posted by: wallyj at January 5, 2010 10:04 PM

This is gross man! I'm afraid to ask how she was inseminated. I've heard the term "turkey-baster" used in reference to these matters, but assumed it was a joke. Won't be eating turkey at their place anytime soon. No, they shouldn't be allowed to adopt, nor male couples either. Every child has a right to a mother and a father.

Meet my son,he's not very good at sports ,but little Ecko is a whiz in the kitchen.

Well if it wasn't well known it SHOULD have been:
Boys have the "baby lotion",lots of it.

And they'll give it away free!!!

Posted by: eastern paul at January 6, 2010 1:28 AM

larben, the turkey baster is no joke. You can see that it would do the trick.

Our poor kids.
