Answer: I don't know. Why not send her over to find out?

Posted by: greyburr at December 12, 2009 11:32 AMAntonia Zerbisias, Heather Mallick, whatever. This vile ilk has always been the bottom feeders of life. They have delusions of adequacy, where none exists. They have hit rock bottom as employees and more important people, and began too dig, The best parts of course are that their employers "papers" drop circulation each and every time they open their pie holes.
What morons.
There's a word in the English language that, in North America, has a very intense meaning and a very charged sentiment attached to it. It's a slang term for female genitalia and is never to be used lightly.
I would not hesitate to use this word in description of Zerbisias.
Posted by: Yukon Gold at December 12, 2009 11:34 AMZerb's next investigative assignment: 'Obamaville'.
"I've never seen so many camps since I've been out in the streets - there's no money."
...-
"'Obamaville' sign posted near homeless camp
Someone has put a lot of thought into a welcome sign that may surprise you, it's in front of a homeless camp off I-25 in Colorado Springs.
Its message, "Welcome to Obamaville, Colorado's fastest growing community." Despite repeated calls no one could answer the question, who put up the sign?
To some homeless the sign's message says enough. Mark Limonez, a homeless man living in "tent city", says the sign doesn't make him feel good about trying to get back on his feet. "Guys are trying to work but there's not enough work out there, so they go pan handling or flag a sign" Limonez says, "I've never seen so many camps since I've been out in the streets - there's no money."
There are no logos on the front of the sign and no clues to where it comes from."

Hey, Antonia Yerbitchyass... oh, no... I'm not going to stoop to your level and write what I almost wrote... but it was to be every bit as offensive as the verbal diarrhea you squirted...

In any case, every day, we in Canada HAVE NO IDEA how lucky we are, AND HOW LITTLE WE APPRECIATE IT.
(Except if you've served in the military in these places, and seen first hand, or if you have escaped these nasty places.)

Posted by: Erik Larsen at December 12, 2009 7:09 PMHi Erik,
I agree we have little idea how lucky we are in Canada. I frequently stop and feel gratitude I had the luck to be born here (really, this is no empty sentimental claim).
I don't think that this excuses us from being critical about what goes on in our own country, or not caring that things could be better here. We had more to feel lucky about before Harper started to peel away at our national fabric, and we were once moreso a role model for nations where civil rights are grossly lacking.
Zerbasias' joke that Harper is screwing Canada was a point well-taken. And while it may not be nice to speculate about his sex life, it's funny (and not even remotely as offensive as rape jokes) because there does seem to be a strong correlation with people who are deprived of physical affection in their personal life taking it out on whoever they have power over in their professional life.
People with Harper's kind of power (and history of abusing that power) are fair game for writers to mock. No one, and I mean NO ONE is fair game for rape jokes.
Posted by: NotHarperGirl at December 12, 2009 7:14 PMNotHarperGirl - well, I guess we will have to respectfully disagree. I personally think Harper is doing a great job in his position, and "Canada is working just fine". Zerbasias' "joke" isn't something one should post in public, let alone on a Facebook page when she's a public figure.
Blech! Cheers and thanks :-)

--So tell it to Antonia Herbitchyass for musing about women sexually assaulting Mr. Harper. Besides, of course they can. They can just buy some strap-on rubber weewees at the naughty store. Duh. Of course women can rape men and other women. It's just a little different with women doing it, that's all.
Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at December 12, 2009 7:52 PMNever quite understood why it is OK for the left to talk like this, but it is a national catastrophe when the right does. The only thing I can chalk it up is that under socialism, some are more equal than others.
That being said, some of the comments are a little over the line.

Posted by: RW at December 12, 2009 8:00 PMNotHarperGirl. Whats your malfunction anyways? There is nothing funny about anything Zerbasias has to say about this Prime Minister, or any other for that matter. You should know this, but, apparently you don't. The "joke" about Harper screwing the country, or subverting in your mind the democratic principals the nation was built on are equally useless and weak. The more you and your ilk protest the larger the majority in the next election.
Jackass.
Thanks and cheers back, Eric, it's great to respectfully disagree with people on something as contentious as politics.
We are such good Canadians. ;-)
Posted by: NotHarperGirl at December 12, 2009 8:01 PMNotharpergirl, your intellect is as large as your explanation and vocabulary of Harper's effect upon Canada. Zero!
Posted by: RW at December 12, 2009 8:06 PMHmm... y'know, "screwing democracy" doesn't happen when one actually does what the majority of the population wants.
Of course, sometimes we non-leftists think we're being ignored, but I suspect Harper's just working in mysterious ways and is actually serving our interests whilst fooling the Big Old Media into believing otherwise, so they'll STFU and let him get to work.
If anyone's "screwing democracy", it's clearly the Obamacrat Reich. Clearly. They know the majority of Americans are dead set against the agenda they're imposing, but they forge ahead anyway.
So why don't Leftists bash the Obamacrat Reich instead? Hmmm? Like, what happened to the anti-war/anti-President protests by deranged moonbats? Obama's as warmongering as Bush, if not more so, yet there's no horrible demonstrations by scary lunatics for Obama. Whazzup?

Posted by: Erik Larsen at December 12, 2009 8:18 PMLots of new comments in the time it took me to post my last one...
Canadian Sentinel, Antonia's joke may have been in poor taste but having sex forced on him without consent was *not* a part of the construct of her joke. Read it again. I suspect in your rush to attack anyone who disagrees with you, you added content to the joke that was not there. The only problem I see in what she wrote is the popular presumption that all men would welcome sex from all women indiscriminately. That's a harmful stereotype. At least she posted this to a semi-private forum (where her privacy was violated by whoever publicly shared it), and not on her public blog or column.
Kathy, asking for factual references is fair -- even for well-established social dynamics, I suppose -- but you never honestly wanted me to find you "10 historically accurate examples of such men," did you? It was just a set-up for a groundless insult, right?
You know what's interesting? I never said "men" -- you presumed I was attacking only one gender to make me look like the kind of "rigid ugly feminist" you could never possibly agree with. Again, Kathy: I did NOT single out MEN.
The sad thing is Erik restored my willingness to avoid stereotyping people who support Harper's administration, but the ugly and empty attacks from others here is a sad rebuke to the civility that he showed me and a pathetic reinforcement of those stereotypes.
See ya.

You can't name a single example.
Posted by: Waterhouse at December 12, 2009 9:50 PMNotaharpergirl
You and the journalist are hypocrites. That journalist thinks that because she is a woman she can treat women differently from men. Zerbisias can joke about raping men without guilt, particularly if she does not like their political views. On the other hand the jokes about raping women are forbidden, in very bad taste. You (and Antonia Zerbisias) are forgetting that men can also be raped - in Egypt, in Iran, in Saudi Arabia.
And "pathetic reinforcement of stereotypes" are yours too, because you expected and assumed that asking for "10 historically accurate examples of such men" was done jokingly, not seriously, that it was a red herring, didn't you? And if that is not a stereotype applied to others, what is it?
Finally, being a journalist Zerbisias should have known that there is no privacy on the internet. There is no privacy, particularly for politicians and journalists.
Perhaps living in a make-believe world ( thinking that someone else is screwing up democracy but not I, never people who have the same political view as I do) Zerbisias forgot about it.
Maybe paying 7% GST is part of the national fabric.

Posted by: Waterhouse at December 12, 2009 10:04 PMSigning on to international commitments purely for political purposes and then making no effort to meet them? Part of the national fabric!

Posted by: Waterhouse at December 12, 2009 10:16 PM"peel away at our national fabric" is simply a silly little phrase which really has no substance. It sounds quite profound but, when pressed to give examples or even explain the term "national fabric", the silence is deafening.

These creeps aren't acquainted with even the basics of human decency. They think Zerbisias' use of an old hoary joke ('Won't some women do to Stephen Harper what he's been doing to democracy?') is the equivalent of turning Zerbisias over to be raped almost to death.
It really says more about the unresolved sexual issues of everyone here on this site than it does anything else.
Yet such are the foundations of modern conservatism: sicknesses which should really be turned over to a competent therapist rather than sublimated and masqueraded as some sort of political "philosophy".
