Posted by: Edward Teach at December 12, 2009 12:45 AMAs I listened to the introductions my first thought was: do any of these people have a real job. Green Peace? A domestic terrorist organization or not. Wiki definition of terrorist is: "Terrorism is the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion." Wiki goes on to say: "Individual terrorists tend to be motivated more by a desire for social solidarity with other members of their organization than by political platforms or strategic objectives, which are often murky and undefined.[4]"
So individually they are not necessarily doing it for the grand results they specify. They are doing it because they enjoy the comradeship, sense of belonging and empowerment.
And as for terrorism, try being around a planer or saw when a spiked log hits the blades.
I won't be impressed until they smear their faeces all over the Bella Centre in Copenhagen.

As a result extreme wind chills of minus 40 to minus 50 are expected overnight and Saturday morning into the Parkland areas. These extreme wind chill will slowly spread southward on Saturday, reaching the far southern areas Saturday night. Extreme values will continue into Sunday for most areas.
At these extreme wind chill values frostbite on exposed skin may occur in less than 10 minutes.

But that part about less work and more time for sports and family! WTF? Can anyone seriously espouse such nonsense and hope to be taken seriously? Take the sports angle for a moment: if no one is working, then who makes the sticks or the balls for all the idle people to use?
We work less now for goods that our grandparents did. Hence more leisure time. A fridge is a weeks wages today (generally speaking...) but 75 years ago it might have been a month's wages. Why the decline? (can we use that word on SDA?) Because of a fundamental understanding of economics, markets and productivity.

This is what is well known to those that grew in the “communist countries of Europe”
Young pioneers wore white shirts with red handkerchief around the neck.
The older, called something akin to unionist (not a labor union, not opposed to, though superior since they were the socialist/communist aristocrats) wore blue shirts, sometimes with red handkerchief, if they felt breathless warmth towards the young pioneers, kind of like big brothers.
The final stage were the communists, they wore white shirts to look like true ubermensh of the age.

This got me thinking ... if one of these women were to post a Personal Ad, what would it say? Here's my first attempt to help these ladies out:
Looking To Dine Out With Progressive Guy
Are you into causes? Well, I'm one ... I mean, I've been focused on one for some time. In the month leading up to the Copenhagen Conference I went on a hunger strike to help save Mother Earth. It's kind of complicated why I did this but I'm sure with all that I did that I convinced a lot of people to join my cause. While it was kind of difficult seeing all those fellow delegates eating 5-star meals morning, noon, & night, I know in their hearts, if not their stomachs, that my brothers & sisters are with me in spirit!
Anyhow, now that the Conference is over, I need to start eating again. I'm a vegan, of course, and expect you to be one too. Since I've lost so much weight & energy, I need to be pushed around in a wheelchair, so you need to be in shape.
I'm open-minded, even if one capitalist pig ex-boyfriend said I'm not. Let's not talk about him though, let's talk about me. I'm open minded as long as you think like I do. So as long as you agree with all of my progressive ideas then I'm sure we'll get along fine.
Normally I'd insist upon splitting all restaurant meals 50/50 but I haven't been working for some time and my daddy cut off my trust fund when he found out what I was doing, so for the first 6 months at least I'll need you to pick up all the bills.
Anyhow, I'm a cute gal and am sure you'll adore me like all my progressive friends do.
Peace and Love and Kumbaya!

Posted by: PiperPaul at December 12, 2009 3:32 AMYeeah, moites, it's fairly obvious due to moy accent that Oy've been appoynted as a result of affermative eection.
Posted by: PiperPaul at December 12, 2009 3:41 AMLate last year, on an SDA thread about Elizabeth May, commenter batb observed - aptly - that Elizabeth May is the manifest corporeal fallout from a generation of people who have been told from a very early age that they're very, very special people:
"I think it's the 'only child' syndrome.' You know the kind of kid? No matter what s/he does, Mom and Dad ooh and ahh and say "oh, how cute, how smart, how simply sensational' - and all s/he did was walk toward the camera with a tooffy grin and say 'Boo!'"
You can see the product of that sort of inverted child-abuse in people like Anna Keenan and Sara Svenson: "Hello everyone. My name is Sara Svenson and I am from Sweden. Today is my 33rd day of climate justice fast. For over a month I have been eating nothing and drinking only water. It has certainly not been easy. I get colder than usual, my physical strength is weaker, and every day requires a lot of self-discipline to keep going. On the other hand, the fast is also empowering..."
How fantastically special. I, me, mine, I, me, I am, my day requires, I exist to save the world and all its delightful creatures, etc. The sad thing is that even though the sincerity is undeniable they are corporeally manifesting an awful misdirection of the best of human nature to the point where it's a threat to everyone who's *not them.* It's the Global Army of Too-Too Specialness who've been goaded on by a dumb, lying, propagandistic media.
The global rewrite these people propose is really and truly about *them* and not, as they suggest, the *planet.* Ughh. The level of conceit is staggering. These women don't have the first hint of an understanding of the extent to which their tickety-boo *specialness* stops and starts with themselves; they're the product of something like child-abuse, in some inverted, western, privileged sense. Their privileged upbringing has lead these self-obsessed busybodies to thrill themselves - sincerely and ingenuously - with their own *specialness* in the - demanded - name of the planet earth.
Anna Keenan too - "together with six others around the world, myself and..." - perfectly exemplifies that sad misdirection. You can tell she's sincere, and that she has, without any doubt, the best intentions. But this loudly-announced quietness and humility is, in the additive sense, *megalomania*; it's an un-reality-checked intention - and sense of privilege - to rewrite the world in the name of their own specialness.
H. Murphy.
What a vast, awful misdirection of human nature. It's sadly the case that these exemplars of global busybodiness must become human sacrifices, so that future generations of such sensitive women might instead be concerned with actual, verifiable, living concerns, like, oh, say, the brutal abuse of women at the hands of the Taliban. Afghan women aren't consumed with fasting in the name of "climate justice," and no one who's head is screwed half-on would suggest that they're being negligent in that regard.

Posted by: Robert W. (Vancouver) at December 12, 2009 3:55 AMMy Dad would say that the 'hair shirts' are out - some religious zealots in the Middle Ages used to line their shirts with boar/horse/cattle hair and wear them, next to their skin all the time (day and night) to prove their 'devotion' and humility (self hatred extended to hatred of all humans). See Thomas Aquinas for more information.
In my youth I once 'fasted' for 5 days - I had to fit into a dress that was two sizes smaller than I was - I had only black coffee and cigarettes for 5 days. I could not sleep so I cleaned my house from the basement to the attic - I fit into the dress and got all the spring cleaning done in one week. It was a very empowering experience.
What a joke those sanctimonious young fools really are - and what a dull life they must lead. I am very glad that my youth was spent in less dark times - I liked fast cars, downhill skiing, motor boats, dark smokey night clubs, Italian leather shoes! I would not trade places with those young zealots for all the 'carbon credits'(even if I could sell the credits for gold bars) on the planet.
Posted by: Jema54 at December 12, 2009 4:38 AMWell said EBD.
I could not help but note there were "7" disciples fasting - the number that signifies divinity. Perhaps they are hoping to have an impact reminiscent of the Apostle John's (Book of Revelation) letters to the seven churches of Asia regarding the "last days". Mind you the message content of the latter differs diametrically as it is not I, me and mine focused.
It is possible that the Copenhagen planners just picked 7 skinny people to lie in order to inspire the rest of us drones. Wouldn't be the first time disciples of the Church of Climatology lied.

It's one more step towards becoming its own full-fledged religion - fasting for the cause. Traditional religious practitioners are aware of that the value of the fast disappears when you do it for others' sakes, while these idiots are off flaunting their sacrifice so that people will look at them and be inspired, to do what exactly? If it was just for dietary reasons, there might be some value in it.

"For Al Gore, who canceled his trip to Copenhagen, this must bring a nightmarish sense of deja vu. He was expecting a coronation in his run for the presidency, after being vice president for 8 years of peace and prosperity. A Texas governor who had confessed to a drinking problem must have seemed like a patsy. But then in an instant, it seemed like the media had turned on him, twisting his words to make it seem like he claimed to have invented the Internet, critcising his debate performances, and on and on until he lost. I think he's seeing it again for the battle against global warming.
Support for environmental issues traditionally is wide but not deep. We're all green until governments want some of our green, and then we start thinking differently . . . "

As the father of two young women closing in on 40, I watched horrified. I can't ridicule the poor naif. While I'm always reticent in assigning people victim status -- she is a brainwash victim. Lord Monckton on Dennis Miller referred to this now all too familiar child/youth abuse: teaching children to consider their breath poison; to scare them into weeping in fear of being drowned by the rising waters; to teach children zero-sumism, that their prosperity was purchased at the expense of the poor; that resources are finite and are being selfishly "used up".
This is way way worse than sexual abuse.
This is future murder.
The hunger striker claims that now she's fasted for 33 days her mind is clearer than it's ever been.
This is against all medical research on the effects of starvation.

This links to a comprehensive study on the effects of starvation, and in the chapter on "psychological effects" make particular note of the fact that persons starving for any length of time are definitely NOT "clear minded".

Well, what were we expecting, other than delusional, brainwashed, blissfully-ignorant bimbos and such?
We're talking about people who believe in something that's been demonstrated as a total fraud.
Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at December 12, 2009 4:12 PMFurther; an acquaintance in the medical field says it's quite possible the person fasting is drinking water with additives such as glucose, vitamins, minerals, salts, etc., and is simply being disingenuous when she claims to be living on water.
Posted by: dmorris at December 12, 2009 4:17 PMOhh please spare me the yadda yadda look-at-me- bulls***, this is way to slow Copenhagen won't last forever ya know, now bulldozers on the other hand...
Posted by: richfisher at December 12, 2009 4:59 PMdmorris?
You are completely wrong.I fasted from may 25 1988 to july 1 1988...nothing but black coffee as well as obviously water
then ate once a week for 56 days ...sunday lunches...a ceaser salad and fries
I went from 320 pounds down to 172 in the end as I sat in Acapulco mexico five months later
I agree with who you called out as a liar....you are wrong
it was the clearest strongest healthiest time of my life
you are spreading misinformation not backed up by your own biology as to get fat one must be able to and probably did go without food for extended periods
the longest fast according to guiness book is over a year
I just would luv to actually meet some of these types who can spew with such a straight face even on the internet
certainly shows how screwed up this ball of snot really is with so many spreaders of disinformation still breathing
only fat people say there is such a thing as being big boned ...hahaha
and only the weak stay fat ...their whole lives
gluttony instead of awareness was the persons own choice
and not natural no matter how some ignorantly think
any that want the truth should just try it although some can not even miss a meal let alone settle their own lies
and then some with a missed meal still think they really really have had a hunger pain hahahahhaha
I have not even mentioned the healing nature of a fast as I support the doctors rights to not cure the ignorant and make lots more money off them
but I also know some things that some of you should...its too bad you don't think you worth it
some are just a bad virus in a pytree dish and here to just ...eat... defecate... and die
not always in that order sadly
cheers fellow saskatchewanians
....let me guess, by aug 30 1988, after two months of thrice daily quarter-cheese hat-tricks & shotgunning a gallon of Coke you tipped the Toledos
at 312 poids net. ahahahhahhaha.....
thx for the lecture though....burp
Posted by: fatguy at December 12, 2009 6:34 PMMe No Dhimmi, I totally agree with you that this brain washing of our kids (it's ubiquitous in the schools I teach in: admin. and teachers are unbridled, unquestioning AGW cheerleaders) is abuse -- physical, moral, spiritual, verbal abuse.
Our kids are being sold a steady diet of lies which colour everything they do, every decision they make -- without the ability to discern reality from crap dressed up as science. And, then, there are their parents and the other "grown ups" who DO have the ability to discern crap from science but who are too involved in the zeitgeist to shield their kids from the deluge.
As they say in Latin America, when it's clear things aren't going the way they should: Ay, yay, yay. Que cosa.
As they say in the Church, when it's clear things aren't going the way they should: Kyrie Eleison.
Posted by: batb at December 12, 2009 7:38 PMShavluk, go to the link I posted, and argue with them, they did the research, I merely linked to it.
Also note the person at Copenhagen didn't have 320 pounds of body weight to live off of.
Posted by: dmorris at December 12, 2009 7:48 PMThis video makes one long for the days when self-immolation was the way to get noticed.
Posted by: wallyj at December 12, 2009 8:10 PMFirst, definitely not my type of chick. I defiantly prefer a more athletic or rounded type figure.
Second, I love the fat topic. I too consider being fat "weakness" and a lack of discipline and balance. I think it is fair to criticize appearance, especially for public figures and people of authority because it is a lifestyle choice.
Finally, to ERB's point: "Afghan women aren't consumed with fasting in the name of "climate justice,"
These women probably believe that the Afghan woman's plight is a result of "colonialism" and so once "justice" is served it will be all hunky-dory for the women a Afghanistan.
The Climate gurus she is supporting will tax those glasses right off her face!
Fools.
Posted by: zilla at December 12, 2009 8:35 PMIs it still a hunger strike if you drink Koolaid?
Posted by: Ghost of Ed at December 12, 2009 8:46 PMYour body has a reset button
some doctors will tell you its unhealthy to fast for a reason you think is about your healthy life hahaha
they should really be ashamed of themselves in my view
Sorry pal the reset which happens by fasting is fabulous you can consume more calories than the did before yes..as you tried for years to loose weight and thought you should loose and didnt
its metabolism and the brown fat between your shoulder blades that matters
your becoming hungry for the first time in months is a sign by the way that its time to think about ending it ..yes on a fast as within the first week to two the body starts producing greater quantities of endorphins
and I just was not hungry
it was spice and still is that I craved
but no I stayed at 200 lbs for 8 years

Posted by: john at December 12, 2009 10:26 PMThis is a cause that anorexics can totally get down with!
And it looks like some already have.
Seriously, there are folks in Africa who can be so much more totally righteous in this cause compared to the posers seen in the vid at Copraphagen.
And the Africans probably don't even use electricity, so take that Green Twiggies!
You'll never catch up in your wildest most fevered dreams, Green Twiggies.
I can't recall her exact comments (and I am NOT going back to listen through that to get them just right!) but she let the true agenda slip when she mentioned the new social and political era this would usher in. Scary, no?
Posted by: first timer at December 13, 2009 12:16 AMI cannot recall the exact wording of her comment (and I am NOT going back through that video to get it exact) but for me the defining moment was when she let the true agenda slip and spoke of how this conference would usher in a new social and political order. (From the top down, of course. And I am sure that she has studied enough history to know of the amazing success rate of top-down imposed social and political orders.)
Posted by: first timer at December 13, 2009 12:21 AMI bet she has to wear snowshoes in the shower to keep from being washed down the drain.
Oh, I've got a girl named Boney Moron-eei.
She's as skinny as a stick of macaroni!
Oughta see her pitch starvation with blue jeans on
She's not very fat, just skin and bone
~Ritchie Valens (paraphrased)
Jeff K wrote: "Have any of these climate heros even thought out what life would be like if no carbon was used?"
NO BARBECUES!
I could not bear to watch much of this video.
These people are NUTS.
As one who fasted for 4 1/2 days while a weight-conscious teen, I hope they enjoy their salivating dreams of hamburgers like I did.
Posted by: chutzpahticular at December 13, 2009 1:39 AMMe No Dhimmi (and batb): fwiw, I had batb's comments at hand because they were in one of several threads I bookmarked just for the pleasure of reading some of the, erm, zingers in them. In that same thread batb noted that Elizabeth May was "private-school educated in Farmington, Connecticut at Miss Porter's School, 'a highly selective private college preparatory school for girls, aged 14-18...established 'with an eye to educating the elite young women of the Eastern seaboard.'" Exetaz replied:
"One can only imagine that she was shipped off to private school as far away as possible because her family couldn't tolerate having her rooting and wallowing around the house." (emph. mine)
I'm still laughing at that one.
