Man doth use the petro flame, but
Sun and wind are not the same!
They power honest, fair, and true;
(Though kilojoules produced are few),
Our evil fuels we must eschew
It's been foretold that all will die,
And oceans rise, because the sky
is filled by fruits of our endeavor;
From our lives we have to sever
Carbon, or doom earth forever.
Do not question!! "Yes we can!";
Carbon we will forthwith ban,
Science has outlived its span; for
Climate change was made by Mann
Brilliant, Erik.
Posted by: Vitruvius at December 9, 2009 5:27 PMNice . Fetch the man some carbon credits .
Posted by: Bill D. Cat at December 9, 2009 5:32 PMBravo, Erik! And you don't expect a Nobel Prize!
Posted by: batb at December 9, 2009 5:58 PMSpeaking of things that rhyme, here's an hilarious video called Climategate Christmas.
Posted by: Robert W. (Vancouver) at December 9, 2009 6:06 PMCNN finally covers Climategate -- a debate. Nice Erik!
Posted by: LindaL at December 9, 2009 6:11 PMI applaud standing up.
Good work.
Hey, thanks! Not to be modest, but to actually be honest, there were a lot of entries finer than mine, and I had better not name which ones so I don't offend those I forgot to mention.
(I'll stop writing before Kanye West comes and grabs the keyboard from me.)
Posted by: Erik Larsen at December 9, 2009 6:20 PMAre the microphones off? Good. Kanye West is a jackass.
Posted by: Erik Larsen at December 9, 2009 6:21 PMVery funny! "Mann made climate change"! Dangerous indeed. How simple, obvious and hilarious. Wish I'd thought of it!

Al Gore is an As---le
Not just a Climate Wh--e!!
Bravo, Erik Larsen!
After reading most of the posts on the poetry thread I had intended to cite yours as my personal favourite, but was interrupted by non-productive work for my regulatory masters.
Yours stuck me as the most naturally poetic (in the pre-post-modern sense).
The only flaw I could detect was that I could actually understand -- and enjoy it -- on first read.
Last friday when I attempted to plow out my drive. I moved 50 feet on my small lawn tractor with my snow blade, only to bog down and stick in the 14 inches of powder. I went to the shed to get my snow thrower. Which was out of fuel. As I proceeded to fill the machine, then clear my 100 meter drive way. I let the darn tractor run.
I feel no guilt.
Great poem Eric, maybe we should send that to our M.P.'s
Well-deserved, Erik.
Posted by: Herman at December 9, 2009 7:59 PMAl Gore will be speaking on CNN this hour. This should be interesting.
Posted by: anne (not from Cornwall) at December 9, 2009 8:03 PMGood one Erik.And I agree, we are among real poets here!
anne...it will only be interesting if the CNN team are not grovelling at his feet, and if they dare to throw him some tough questions.
Take one for the team..and get back to us please.
Me no dhimmi - a friend of mine dissed me for not giving the nod to John McCrae - ie - stealing the "carryover lines" style from him - true that!!
And although undeserving, I think I was given the award (kind of like the Nobel committee does) to encourage future endeavours
Posted by: Erik Larsen at December 9, 2009 8:15 PMWay to go Erik. As far as the Nobel is concerned, you deserve the one that should be pulled off Gore's neck.
Good for you.
Well met, Erik.
Posted by: tim in vermont at December 9, 2009 8:24 PMi guess the concept of finding the goreacle's hole with flour disqualified me.....damn
Posted by: kingstonlad at December 9, 2009 8:37 PMThanks for bringing that up kingston lad - another sleepless night for me! ;-)
Ghost of Ed - some of the stuff you wrote yesterday was not only clever, but made me laugh out loud, an infrequent occurrence!
Posted by: Erik Larsen at December 9, 2009 9:30 PMHere's a video of the Goracle spewing his 'poetry' to a CNN reporter. What the man lacks in talent he makes up for in chutzpah.

warning - video may cause vomiting
Posted by: GoreBore at December 9, 2009 9:35 PMErik
I have to tell you that I carefully read through the poems and comments more than once, three times actually and I too was laughing out loud and without lying I had tears in my eyes. The variety of styles and emulation of other poets was quite imaginative.
It was a hoot.
rubbish(gnash gnash)to erik's derivative effort..(altho a few sweet conceits reside within it )
erik's effort was Popean(or was it Miltonian) because MY contribution was quintessential Pope....when i masterfully subbed "Gorian' for 'Pirian" i knew there would be a wretched excess of imitators....
res ipsa etcetera
Erik. Mission accomplished, and I hope it had the same effect on bleet, T and the rest of the leftoid trolls.
Posted by: kingstonlad at December 9, 2009 10:05 PMjohn begley - doode - I prePoped you by two posts yesterday, nyuck nyuck
