It's Raining Polar Bears

... in Copenhagen:

On a normal day, Majken Friss Jorgensen, managing director of Copenhagen's biggest limousine company, says her firm has twelve vehicles on the road. During the "summit to save the world", which opens here tomorrow, she will have 200.

"We thought they were not going to have many cars, due to it being a climate convention," she says. "But it seems that somebody last week looked at the weather report."

Ms Jorgensen reckons that between her and her rivals the total number of limos in Copenhagen next week has already broken the 1,200 barrier. The French alone rang up on Thursday and ordered another 42. "We haven't got enough limos in the country to fulfil the demand," she says. "We're having to drive them in hundreds of miles from Germany and Sweden."

And the total number of electric cars or hybrids among that number? "Five," says Ms Jorgensen. "The government has some alternative fuel cars but the rest will be petrol or diesel. We don't have any hybrids in Denmark, unfortunately, due to the extreme taxes on those cars. It makes no sense at all, but it's very Danish."

The limos just make them easier to identify.

If only one could capture the hot air that will be expelled at this conference and use it for good, unfortunately it will simply go into the atmosphere and exacerbate the warming problem. I loved the comment in the article about people who share the same views trying to imagine the views of the other side; especially scientists who next to engineers feel they are only intelligent life on the planet.

What a great video Michael. Thanks for posting it. Hitler committed suicide when his plot to control the world failed, I wonder what FatAl, Unca Mo and the Fruitfly will do?

IMO, guilt is driving the propaganda in the saving the globe hysteria. Somewhere along the way to dumbing down the people via education governed by writ not reason; the panty waist type male and the man hating females developed a 'mother' that was all knowing, loving and giving - and silent - Mother Earth!! The theme is that 'Mother' earth weeps and suffers in silence as 'she' is raped and stained and trampled upon by masculine forces (humans).

When the "Mother Earth" theme was adapted by the UN (world government radicals) - the media fell in line by painting pictures for their dumbed down viewers - Men who won wars were made to feel guilty for winning a war against evil ( the mantra was; not all the German/Japanese people were evil, just the few head honchos...soo..why did 'we' (males) bomb women (representing earth mothers)? "Mother" Russia (USSR) was certainly superior to 'Dad' USA/Canada and the "Fatherland", Nazi Germany'. The soldiers of the Greatest Generation loved their Moms, the guilt was easy to foist. The direct result, as expected, was that men got weak and weepy/ angry and frustrated when they could not do, and get credit for, what they do best: defend and provide for their homes, country and families. The family unit, the key to maintaining power in the hands of the people, began to fall apart because the heads of families were guilt ridden and they gave away their power to ease the guilt that the theme had dumped on them. I grew up in the post WWII generation, I watched this happen!!! Women were not willing or ready to be both Mom and Dad to their family but the media and the 'theme' demanded that they be both because the 'mother' of us all (earth!!) had a filthy, dirty, murdering, irresponsible male counterpart (mankind). This is the 'theme' that we have seen in every movie, every talk show and in every advertisement for the last 40 years. Pasty, lardy, creepy, 'eunuch- like', Unca Mo/fuitfly and lardy, lumbering fools like FatAl love this theme (as do flaming feministas) because it provides them with power over real men like 'W', Stephen Harper, Vaclav Klaus, their own Dads...women who hate men, and women who are dismayed by male weakness pile on...the kids see where the 'power' is tilting and pile on too. The issue is not male/ is good/evil, God/Devil, Heaven/Hell.

Earth is a common noun, it is dirt without feelings or personality. Vegetation and creatures live on earth and mankind lives on earth. Man cannot 'hurt' the earth because mud does not have 'feelings'. Creatures and people are not the enemy of earth because earth is incapable of 'having' or expressing anything. The real enemy lurks in the cold hearts of some humans who would sacrifice living people for a 'Mother earth is a'hurtin thingie'. Reason has flown the coop - just like a bunch of hysterical chickens we are squawking and flapping at a phantom tree branch blowing in the wind.

The willing sacrifice of mankind to this earth 'mother' is akin to an ancient pagan blood fest. If this cult show in Hopinchagan pulls off the evil that the human haters have in mind, it will bring everything good, kind and decent to a DEAD halt. It must be stopped.

I belong to a large social club, mostly for retirees. Our quest speakers on Thursday were a college instructor and six students from the local college, speaking to us on the 'climate crisis'. Their fields were chemistry, biology, math and psychology.

With the exception of the instructor - himself quite young - the rest were easily under 23. We had twenty minutes of impressive graphs, jargon and fearmongering - especially fearmongering.

As question period began, I introduced myself as the "elephant in the room" and raised the issue of Phil Jones, Keith Briffa, Michael Mann and the whole CRU business. Oddly enough, the students and their instructor seemed to know little about it, other than that e-mails had been pilfered.

Distressingly, very few of the hundred and fifty people in the room had heard anything at all and some thought it very rude of me to confront these earnest young students about it.

So I've made it my personal mission to educate the masses in my personal sphere.

Here's how I do my bit. Each time a delicious article like this Telegraph piece comes up, I excerpt the bits most people will react to - keeping the message short.

Then I provide a live link through a 'read more...'. But most importantly, I use Prt Srn to copy a page (in this case, the Telegraph page with photo) and then in PhotoShop (any editing software will do) I crop to just the important part. This is then pasted with my text into my e-mail because a photo showing the actual page adds both interest and credibility.

I add a few pithy comments of my own as an introduction. For example, with this one I wrote:

"All I can say to the scientists, bureaucrats and environmentalists is ..... keep up the good work. Obviously you're doing everything possible to convince us little people that the world truly is almost at the 'tipping point'. And being a 'climate advocate' obviously has perks ... like the free as sex mentioned below."

"Feel free to share."

I then send it to everyone in my e-address book with a request that they consider sharing it with their friends .... and so on.

I hope many of you will consider doing the same.

BTW - immediately after introducing myself as the 'elephant' another member with broad leftist credentials, got up to ask a puff ball question. But in doing so, he referred to me as the "dark elephant" and himself as the "white elephant".

I tore a strip off of him afterward for his obscene character assasination in front of our peers. But that's what the left does.

Europe used a "neat" trick in designing Kyoto.

The Russian and East Block economies had just collapsed (thanks to communism) and so, under Kyoto, would have magically received Gorish carbon credits - free!! This would also help Western Europe (recent unification) to survive 'climate alarmism' controls. (Just by chance, ya see.)

Of course the United States would not benefit - and of course hamstringing the US economy was Kyoto's reason for being in the first place.

If the Russian university hack turns out to be true, it would be poetic justice for the European designers of Kyoto.

[Russia is the world’s third-largest emitter of greenhouse gases, and lags behind many Western countries in greening its industry.

However, its emissions plunged in the Nineties as its economy collapsed and it now sits on a treasure trove of unused carbon emission permits that could be sold to other countries.

These are due to expire in 2012 with the Kyoto Treaty. The Kremlin wants these to be rolled forward and last week signalled they would not sign a new deal without this, threatening the whole Copenhagen summit. ] DailyMailUK

And this being Scandinavia, even the prostitutes are doing their bit for the planet. Outraged by a council postcard urging delegates to "be sustainable, don't buy sex," the local sex workers' union – they have unions here – has announced that all its 1,400 members will give free intercourse to anyone with a climate conference delegate's pass. The term "carbon dating" just took on an entirely new meaning.

At least the sex will be C02-neutral. According to the organisers, the eleven-day conference, including the participants' travel, will create a total of 41,000 tonnes of "carbon dioxide equivalent", equal to the amount produced over the same period by a city the size of Middlesbrough.

See I told you all that this would be a "Hope 'n Whoring" meeting.

You really do have to laugh...the sex is going to be "CO2-neutral". No doubt the selling talking point is that it will be so good that you will be left breathless and thus unable to exhale CO2!
Unfortunately you will also likely be dead or diseased.

The AGW moonbats are descending into manic moves. It’s O/T, but, is hilarious and true.

It’s a movie: Not, The Big Chill; but, the “Big Cutoff”.

The farce, the farce.

Spend a few minutes at Belmont Club. Then go here*:

BTW, who is/was Richie Cunningham?

"Canada, the Dudley Do-Right of the international community, insists on exploiting its vast and dirty oil reserves in the "tar sands" under Alberta. The intro to an article by British eco-scold George Monbiot declared: "Canada's image lies in tatters. It is now to climate what Japan is to whaling." If Canada, which has long been the UN's Richie Cunningham, won't play ball, does anyone think the Chinese, Indians or Brazilians will?"

“G & D

Steven Hayward talks about how an NYT reporter was threatened with the “Big Cutoff” by a meteorologist after revealing that prostitutes were going to provide free services to climate change campaigners.

The email conveyed the tone of 1) betrayal; 2) scandal at hearing blasphemy and 3) threat. If it were the Old Testament the wording would have been ‘Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.’ The mail went thus:

Copenhagen prostitutes?
Climate prostitutes?
Shame on you for this gutter reportage. [Emphasis added.]
This is the second time this week I have written you thereon, the first about giving space in your blog to the Pielkes.
The vibe that I am getting from here, there and everywhere is that your reportage is very worrisome to most climate scientists.
Of course, your blog is your blog.

But, I sense that you are about to experience the ‘Big Cutoff’ from those of us who believe we can no longer trust you, me included. [Emphasis added.]
Copenhagen prostitutes?
Unbelievable and unacceptable.
What are you doing and why?

The first thing that struck me when reading this email was how familiar the tone was. Everyone who has ever had contact with closed groups of true believers will recognize it immediately. Hayward continues:”

>>> Here is the grimness of the AGW moonbats/Neo-Puritans/Censors:

“How is it possible for a group of smart people to write over 1,000 e-mails over the course of a decade without a single shred of wit or humor in any of them?

There isn’t the tiniest hint anywhere that any of these guys ever grin.

It jives with my experience of environmentalists for 20 years now that they are the single most humorless slice of humanity on the planet.”

"*Why Copenhagen is All Hot Air"

"Here is one simple, inconvenient truth: No developing country with significant and remotely accessible stocks of fossil fuels will agree to leave the stuff in the ground."

Now you know why PM Harper is a tarbaby.

Posted by: maz2 at December 6, 2009 7:54 PM

Posted by: JJM at December 6, 2009 8:16 PM

BTW, who is/was Richie Cunningham?

I take it that was a serious question...
Little Ronnie Howard from Mayberry fame grew up some and played a pre-college teen character in the movie "American Graffiti" which spun off into the hit comedy series "Happy Days". Howard's character from AG was essentially carried through into the series. His name: Ritchie Cunningham. The quintessential wholesome, non-threatening, all-American, middle-class white kid.

Canada is no longer Richie Cunningham, a "non-threatening" left-liberal milquetoast.

How ironic that Canadians love hockey and hockey sticks.

Is that why Stephen McIntyre intuitively smelled the rink rat known as the Mann faux hockey-stick graph?

Then there is the other Stephen; the PM knows his hockey.

The dinosaur MSM has fossilized and has been cremated. The ashes have been strewn in the PET Cemetery.

"Climate of Uncertainty Heats Up

Bloggers peer review a scientific 'consensus.'"

"Unlike Watergate, Climategate didn't come to light because investigative journalists ferreted out the truth.

Instead, this story so far has played itself out largely on blogs, often run by the same scientists who had a hard time getting printed in the scientific journals. Climategate has provided a voice to the scientists who had been frozen out of the debate.

This may be how information-based scandals play out in the future: A leak from a whistleblower directly onto the Web. Expert bloggers then assess what the disclosures mean—a Web version of peer review.

Much of the analysis is on the site of Stephen McIntyre, a Canadian who edits He has long tried to get access to raw data on temperatures. He filed numerous freedom-of-information requests of the East Anglia scientists, leading them to ask one another to delete records. He also showed that the familiar hockey-stick graph showing global warming was based on incomplete sampling."

"Still, it's remarkable to see how quickly corrective information can now spread. After years of ignored freedom-of-information requests and stonewalling, all it took was disclosure to change the debate. Even the most influential scientists must prove their case in the court of public opinion—a court that, thanks to the Web, is one where eventually all views get a hearing."
