The Sound Of All Hell Breaking Loose, Pt. 11

Now you know why they chose a railroad engineer to head up the IPCC...

"He said an independent inquiry into the emails would achieve little, but there should be a criminal investigation into how the emails came to light."

Considering that news editors North America wide had determined within hours that the 62 megabyte document dump revealed no data chicanery whatsoever, it's odd he felt the need to speak at all.

Climategate really is just like Watergate - complete with Deep Code, the Internet Plumbers, and Bob Woodward in the role of Nixon.

They didn't choose him because he was a practicing engineer, Kate, they chose him because he's a lackey bureaucrat. Had he been a legitimate railroad engineer, he certainly would have put the brakes on before allowing this train wreck that now threatens his entire empire.

"I really think people should be discreet … in this day and age anything you write, even privately, could become public and to put anything down in writing is, to say the least, indiscreet … It is another matter to talk about this to your friends on the telephone or person to person but to put it down in writing was indiscreet"

Our media continue to report how wonderful China is for saying they'll sign on to emissions reductaions ... yadda, yadda, yadda

But ya gotta remember our journalists are arithmetically challenged and can't figure our China is blowing smoke up their wazoo. China has said it will commit to "intensity cuts" which means they still increase their massive emissions just a little bit slower.

And the kicker is that China says if you want us to reduce more, you'll just have to pay us 1% of your GDP as a penalty.

Canada's bill would be about $13 Billion.

And that would be on top of the Copenhagen para 41 Climate Guilt Tax of .7% of our GDP - that's an annual payment to the UN.

Obama is going to Copenhagen/COP15 for a drive by smile and then getting the hell out before it turns into a total Gong Show.

Besides, China won't loan him the money to sign up and the US Congress will reject it outright.

"Global Warming E-Mails Scandal Show Scientists May Have Cooked the Facts

By Peter Roff, Thomas Jefferson Street blog

It is starting to look like President Barack Obama, aided and abetted by former Vice President Al Gore, Sens. Barbara Boxer, and John F. Kerry and others, may have lied this nation into a war against man-made global warming.

Preliminary analysis of the contents of thousands of E-mails and documents taken from the computer archives of the Climate Research Unit at England's University of East Anglia—possibly by a hacker, possibly by a whistleblower—indicate a number of the world's most important scientists engaged in research designed to prove that global warming really does exist may have been cooking the books.

As columnist Michael Barone wrote in Sunday's Washington Examiner, "The CRU has been a major source of data on global temperatures, relied on by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. But the e-mails suggest that CRU scientists have been suppressing and misstating data and working to prevent the publication of conflicting views in peer-reviewed science periodicals."

If true, the cooking of the temperature data to provide support for the idea that man-made global warming is occurring is a scandal of most serious proportions. It should force policymakers to reconsider the role science plays in the formulation of policy if its conclusions can be manipulated the way those concerning climate change now appear to have been.

Some of those involved in the E-mail chains that are now under examination have concocted what on their face come across as bizarre explanations for some of the things they said, many of which boil down to the notion that the words they used did not mean what they mean. It sort of takes us back to what the meaning of "is" is.

Consider this:

“Some scientists like to play with the notion that global disaster may result if environmental pollution continues unchecked. According to one scenario, the planet is already well advanced toward a phenomenon call ‘the greenhouse effect’.Concentrations of carbon dioxide are building up in the atmosphere, it is said, as the world’s vegetation which feeds on C02 is progressively chopped down. Hanging in the atmosphere, it forms a barrier trapping the planet’s heat. As a result, the greenhouse theorists contend, the world is threatened with a rise in average temperature which, if it reache 4 or 5 degress, could melt the polar ice caps and raise sea level by as much as 300 feet and cause a worldwide flood…. ”

This is what bears the name of “science” today. It is on the basis of this kind of stuff that your are being pushed into a new Dark Age.

from “The New Left:The Anti – Industrial Revolution”, a collection of essays by Ayn Rand, published first in 1971."

"THE HEART AND SOUL OF ENVIRONMENTALISM

PRODOS SPEAKS WITH PETER SCHWARTZ, Founder of The Intellectual Activist,
Chairman of the Board of the Ayn Rand Institute, Editor of
Return of The Primitive - an update of The New Left:
The Anti-Industrial Revolution.

PRODOS: (INTRO) I was in the supermarket the other day in one of those
12 items or less express lanes and a lady just ahead of me had a
few items she'd bought that were going through the checkout.

But she refused a plastic bag to put them in. She was going to
struggle along. She carried some in her handbag and some under
her arm and anyway it was grueling to watch.

Amazed and appalled - shaking my head - I watched the farce.

My turn now. The checkout guy looked at me with my long hair and
unusual way of dressing - probably thinking I'm a hippie and a
greenie too. But before he could say a word I blurted out
"I wanna plastic bag! I'm not an Environmentalist! I don't
support rubbish and nonsense like that!"

He looked at me with great approval.

Today I want to look at Environmentalism - it's heart and soul.
What is it really about? Regular listeners know that I'm TOTALLY
opposed to the Environmental movement and we've often on this
program shown up many of the silly contradictions and outright
LIES put forward by Environmentalists. God they really are a
bunch of whackers!

Most recently I spoke to [the late] John Daly - the author of
Still Waiting For Greenhouse and we talked about the
'Global Warming' scam. Also to Tom Brabin - all about the
Forestry Industry and some of the things happening there.

But today let's go a few levels deeper into the issues.
Let's get philosophical! Let's look at the ideas, the motivations,
the PRINCIPLES underlying the Green movement.

Now I warn you, you may be in for a shock. If you ever thought
the planet was in trouble because of what's happening to its
environment then get ready to find out what trouble really is.

Because what the Environmentalists are doing to your life, your
liberty, your property, your future is unbelievable. It's stranger
than fiction.

It's a nightmare." {...]

PRODOS: Peter, would you say that Environmentalism is not much different
from a religion or a dogma?

PETER SCHWARTZ: Well it is certainly a dogma and it certainly has
crucial aspects in common with religion. I don't know if that's
the place to START because most people have the view of Environmentalism
as being scientifically based.

Environmentalists present themselves on the surface as being concerned
with evidence, with science, with logic and telling people what the
factual consequences of certain actions or certain technologies are.

But in reality it's exactly the opposite. I don't think Environmentalists
CARE about scientific evidence. I think they are motivated not by
science but by a certain MORAL PREMISE and that premise is something
that ties them very much to religion and accounts for their views on technology."

This wingnut brays about the Obama promise to cut emissions. Obama's pledge has about as much validity as mine: I pledge to bring peace to the world, end poverty, and promise good crop yields. And I pledge this will all happen by tomorrow.
Obama can pledge till the cows come home but, until I see the U.S. congress vote to make this pledge a reality, I'll refrain from dancing in the street.

What is not genreally understand by people, at large, is that e-mail is not private.

E-mail employs the UDP (User Data Protocl), which is entirely open and public. In fact, you do not even know how an e-mail got from sender to recipient. And anyone can receive it and you don't know.

The internet is a public space; anything you say or do there is as visible to everyone, just as it would be in an Attic Stoa or Agora.

Posted by: RW at November 30, 2009 8:05 PM

Actually, RW, it's User Datagram Protocol, and in fact, email, or at least the common SMTP form, does not use UDP, it uses TCP. Or at least typically. And TCP is not broadcast, so normally SMTP mail is not visible to unintended readers. However, I do agree that email is not private, or certainly shouldn't be considered so by its users. Even if sent over VPNs, a proper IT department will have backups up the wazoo. So, for example, if you send me email, by morning it will be backed up on four machines in geographically disperse locations. Plus, we have roll-backward mirrors, so even if I delete your mail tomorrow, it will be in the backups for over a year.

Thanks, tho, for the correction to my head .... er ... knowledge base. :-)

More CO2 belches from Choo-Choo Pachauri who is, The Times says, "a leading world authority on climate science" and a "scientist".
And, a "Dr".

Choo-Choo: "“At some point we will have to cross over and start sucking some of those gases out of the atmosphere.”"

Choo-Choo fingers the "fossil fuel lobby", aka Big Oil, as the villains who are behind the ClimateGate burglary caper.

But, listen to Choo-Choo suck'n'blow here:
...-

Carbon must be sucked from air, says IPCC chief Rajendra Pachauri"

"Dr Pachauri, speaking to The Times on Saturday before travelling to Paris to brief President Sarkozy, suggested that the fossil fuel lobby could be behind a hacking incident last month that led to the publication of thousands of leaked e-mails between climate scientists. He said that it was entirely possible that “corporate interests” had had a hand in the leak.

Dr Pachauri, who was in London for a lecture at the Wellcome Trust organised by the BBC World Service, demanded an immediate investigation into the hacking of e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s climatic research unit, which he branded an “illegal act”.

He said: “One needs firstly to find out personally who is responsible, who the culprits are and what were their motives. And unless we do that it is likely that similar things will happen in the future.”"

When it comes to credentials, Suzuki has absolutely no training in climate science or physics. The only thing he has any talent for is fleecing people out of their money. Dr. Fruitfly gave a talk at the University of Ottawa about 35 years ago and as I was an environmentalist at that time I went to see him. Halfway through the talk my opinion of him was that he was an absolute moron who was predicting that unless we give up technology the world will end at any instant and we will all die in the global cooling that will happen. My environmentalism at that time consisted of being against coal fired power plants because they were polluting and nuclear plants were far cleaner and less disruptive to the landscape than coal mining. At that time I saw nuclear power as a temporary thing until we had fusion and then we could junk all of the messy hydrocarbon fueled chemical stuff. I wish I'd taken notes back then as I would have loved to trot them out now to show how far off the mark this idiot was. Given 1970's pharmacology the only thing I can remember now is my absolute revulsion after listening to this moron.
