Posted by: Stop Ghomeshi at November 7, 2009 1:19 PMCompassion, empathy, sympathy are all alien concepts to the far left and tragedies like this are simply ammunition to explain what is wrong in America rather than the leaders championing what is great in America.
Tragedies are opportunities for liberals to blame and create anger in the population, not time for caring, supporting and unifying. The events of 9-11 unified the nation and in only a few years the blaming and seething hatred from the left poisoned the well driving a wedge through the heart of the country at the exact time when Americans should have been coming together to rediscover what really makes America Great.
Sacrifice and hard work is what made America and Americans great, not the sacrifice of freedoms we see today. Since World War II the politics and the partisan blame game have castrated patriotism turning it into a notion that Love of Country is guaged only by if the World loves America.
The left have turned the work ethic into the entitlement demand, turned freedoms into catalysts for regulation and fostered the insane notion that capitalism needs a road map.
Americans want the Government to cheer for them and give them a level field on which to compete, not run the race for them or to pick them up when they fall. Failures and setbacks used to be called character lessons, now they are simply a reason to utter the phrase "we cannot ever let this happen again" and usher in some new larger Government intervention.

Although I seriously doubt that OBOZO is capable of weighing the consequences....
He is likely fully aware that a gaff or percieved gaffe does...
Much like Bleet.....manufacturing a smear out of security pre-set security protocols....
This fort Hood event points up several inconvenient truths...
Devout sharia following individuals are public safety hazards...
"Gun free zones" even on military bases are insane and lethal....Columbine, Virginia Tech, the Montreal Massacre, Dawson all involved "gun free zones". The one shooting incidident in the crowded mall in Salt Lake City, was interdicted by an armed licenced CC...because the mall was NOT a "gun free zone".
OBOZO clearly illustrated what a shallow, empty individual he is by in effect minimalizing the event.
It is interesting to note that the circumstances Bleet refers to actually demonstrated a clear difference to OBOZOs reaction. Using his executive authority GWB deviated from the carefully planned security protocols to return to Washington---the wisdom of which, at that point, was questionable....hind sight is such a lovely thing.

We conservative/libertarians are impressed by the actions of a person.
George & Laura went to see the soldiers and talk with them.
Obama is in Washington, trying to ram a socialist health care system down the throats of the American people without letting them have a look at the documents in any real manner. How long do you think it will be before you can read and digest a 2000 page document before you put the whole country into such debt that your grandchildren will never pay it off?
Can you get your head around any of this?
Actions speak so much louder than words, that is how you judge a man!!!
Is this the change you are gushing over?
Bush and his wife went to Fort Hood to visit the wounded and their families. No photo-op.
Compare that with Obama's photo-op, at a soldier's return, (photos are something Bush would never allow)...which action was purely political, to show that he was 'really' involved in Afghanistan. Oh, by the way, has Obama reacted to the military's request for more troops? Not yet? No? Oh...
What did Obama do today? First, he worked on his socialist agenda, to force the American people into a radical takeover of their govt into BIG Govt. As noted, he's insisting that they pass this bill, without reading it. That's a denigration of Congress and the American people.

Listen, Georgie, I'm going to ask you to put on your thinking cap for a moment. I realize that it may put a cramp in your cranium from the unaccustomed strain, but bear with me. It will be worth it.
First point: the CIA knew that Iran was working to develop a nuclear weapon; that's no secret, the peckerheads have been bragging about it.
Second point: So the CIA gives them some doctored plans. Big hairy deal. If their nuclear weapons program is well along, it gives them no information they don't already have. Remember that Pakistani physicist A.Q. Khan already gave them a set of plans. So if they are beyond that point already, no harm, no foul. If they aren't beyond that point, there is some small chance that they will be taken in, and waste months or years building a guaranteed dud.
Third point: if the plans include a parts list with certain identifiable items on it, and suppliers of these items suddenly get requests from other than their normal customers, that provides an opportunity for the CIA to smoke out and nail Iranian agents seeking to procure such items. It's called "bait", George.
Read any history of intelligence operations, and you will find instances of one party gaining information on the other party's capabilities based upon their reaction to purposely-leaked misinformation.

A question for the leftard trolls out there.....
Exactly when does Zero start to own the presidency?
What does that mean, you ask?
It means, when does he accept that, as CIC, he has the responsibility for the Iraq and Afstan conflicts, the ones the teleprompter railed so much against during the campaign. So, when does he own that, when does he own the economic situation of the US? It wasn't Bush that TARP'd the banks, it wasn't Bush that created the abortion known as the $787 Billion Porkulus bill, which has done nothing for the US situation.....
The Zero will only be known later for his inability to speak without the teleprompter, and his kowtowing to Moonbats Pelosi and Reid, if the US survives his profligate deficit spending

Posted by: The Phantom at November 7, 2009 9:24 PMT, dude.... so what if Clinton and Obama are still very popular in Europe and Canada? Europe has long been a cause lost to socialism (from the nationalist kind of the 30s & 40s to today's overweening welfare state) and Canada is the sole developed country to have consistently snatched mediocrity from the jaws of greatness, thanks to leftards in the Trudeau vein of non-thinking. Using Europe and Canada as a reference to support US presidential greatness is like using Tony Soprano to vouch for the honesty of the Newark, New Jersey DA's honesty. Irrelevant at best, morally corrupt at worst.
The whole point is so simple it totally flies over the pointy heads of the leftards: GWB, no matter what his limitations, has and still does behave like a mensch, while everything Obama does is coldly calculated to burnish his image. The fact that you leftards have no sort of comprehension of what it means to be human is of no surprise. I felt a persistent tug in my soul to turn back the hands of time and rest easy for a little bit longer; secure in the knowledge that there was a grown up, who cared about my freedom, in charge of the mightiest free nation the world has ever known. "W" made the USA a safe secure ship in a time of turmoil and distress here in Canada- the troika of traitor boyz, the temperature hysteria, the anti smoke bedwetters, the greenis (blubber lubbers) etc. "W" just vetoed the temperature (kyotee) thingie, he refused to make Federal laws that stigmatized and criminalized citizens smoking a legal, everyday cigarette (even though he did not smoke himself), he would have never allowed anyone to tamper with the 2nd amendment, he loved the troops - and it showed - he celebrated and cheered for them and he cried with them. "W" is a good man and Laura is a gracious lady.
The msm sneer and demean good, decent people. Most American/Canadian citizens are good, decent people. Shocking for the msm, the citizens of both nations are realizing that the msm look down on us for believing their spider web of half truths and lies via omission. The internet sites like sda have changed things. Courageous people like Kate and the posters here have punched holes in the webs and the desperate spiders are loosing the fodder for their existence. Most of the msm are in denial but us real people have moved on well past them. We don't even read or consider their drivel anymore.
Thank-you Kate and sda posters and commentators for keeping your readers sane by supporting the good guys.
I still miss "W" and I know that the troops do too. My prayers are with the people who lost a loved ones to bullets fired by a bloody, murdering, traitor. Thank-you Mr. and Mrs. Bush for going to grieve with them and us.
Imagine having an adolescent 'shout out' with news like this tragedy on the front plate! I blushed with shame as I watched the 'new' President make a fool of himself once again; in front of the world and the American people. The latter should do more 'smoking out back' and less blabbing, IMO.
Posted by: Jema54 at November 8, 2009 6:26 AMbleet @1:41 - President Obama is Commander in Chief of the United States armed forces. President Bush was not Commander in Chief of New Orleans. The government failures that aggravated the Katrina disaster - e.g. failure to maintain the levees, to implement a useful evacuation plan - occurred at the municipal and state level. I realize that this probably doesn't jibe with your political philosophy, but not everything is the responsibility of the federal government. Especially in the United States.
Katrina was a catastrophe, it was a tragedy, but it wasn't an act of war, like 9/11, nor was it another attack on the Nation, which the Ft. Hood incident obviously was. Katrina was a natural disaster that was horribly mismanaged, in large part by many of its "victims" (I realize it probably doesn't jibe with your personal philosophy, but people are responsible for not turning into predatory criminals the second there's a flood).
Yes, the President should go to the scene of all major national disasters when that's practicable. Maybe Bush ought to have shown up, in person, on the ground, in New Orleans in the immediate aftermath of the hurricane. Maybe not; maybe he would have been in the way. But the two situations really aren't analogous.
(I do appreciate it, though, bleet, when you actually make an effort to make a point that makes some kind of sense. Keep at it!)
Posted by: Black Mamba at November 8, 2009 9:04 AMWho cares "Mamba"? Your previous racist rantings invalidate anything you say, even when you try to talk all purty-like like you do here.
Posted by: bleet at November 8, 2009 11:47 AMGive me one single example of anything I have ever written that could possibly be described as racist, you lying little creep.
(Sorry, Kate. If he makes me pursue this nonsense I'll give him my email.)
Posted by: Black Mamba at November 8, 2009 12:19 PMBring it on Mamba, mom's out working the streets and she thinks I'm out looking for a job so I'll be here all day.
Posted by: bleet at November 8, 2009 4:12 PMI have no idea why you give bleet the time of day. I remember one time that I was downtown and decided to argue with some "troofers". Turned out that they were "metally challanged", really. I was so embarrassed that I had even started the conversation with those poor people I put five bucks in their little money jar. Don't know why bleet reminds me of those guys....
Posted by: tim in vermont at November 8, 2009 5:02 PMIf you're going to slander me, bleet, make with some proof - an example of my "racism" - or SHUT UP.
If you have nothing pertinent to say, then that's it from me.
Posted by: Black Mamba at November 8, 2009 5:05 PMtim in vermont - er, yes.
Posted by: Black Mamba at November 8, 2009 5:21 PMBlack Mamba,
Just ignore bleet. When he completely brushes your counter-points aside like that, that means you've poked holes in his "blame Bush" argument and he has no counter.
It's like a debate I was having with him where he made a claim that Christians that were against a public universal health care system weren't acting in accordance with the teachings of Jesus and somehow didn't care about dead babies. Even though Jesus never talks about the righteousness of supporting publicly funded industries, I asked him what Jesus would've thought about a system that lets people in need of care die on waiting lists. He immediately brushed it aside as some right-wing propaganda and didn't address it at all.
Yet we're supposed to consider all of his arguments as valid.

Black Mamba's explanation can be summarized with three words: Separation of Powers.
It basically defines where each level of government has jurisdiction and, implicitly, where each government does not have jurisdiction. America's Constitution is built on it.
Separation of Powers exonerates Bush on Katrina and damns Obama on Fort Hood.

Mark, the only separation Bleet understands is separating the stems from the seeds.
