Posted by Kate at November 6, 2009 12:37 AMI couldn't believe this when I watched it. This is the guy with charisma? W had more class on his worst day. They said W didn't go to Dover and maybe he didn't but I do know he met with many of the families of soldiers that gave their lives for their country and his condolences were sincere. The troops knew that too.
Posted by: Speedy at November 6, 2009 1:17 AMYou don't win the medal of honor, you receive it,it's not a contest.I can't believe how cavalier he was about the whole thing.I also can't believe he'd give a shout out and ramble on for about two minutes before even addressing the massacre, and here's a hint Obama, you should not need crib notes to deliver condolences.
Posted by: h.ryan at November 6, 2009 1:30 AMTalking (empty) head! It is sad that this man was elected, but you have to consider who it was who put him there. The cheer-leading continues for this charlatan and duper of the people.

This guy is truly scary. He's not at all sorry about what's happened and wasn't emotionally engaged in his response to this "horrific outburst of violence." It's going to be interesting to see how he proceeds now that the name of the main perpetrator is known. I'm expecting him to downplay Major Nidal Malik Hasan's affiliation with the "religion of peace" and am anticipating some kind of plea to the American people to be extra kind and tolerant and open to Muslims.

If W responded like this the MSM would be releasing push polls for the next three days and doing so-called "man-on-the-street" interviews and featuring protests showing the insensitivity of the president.
My response is the same as the day he started his campaign for president, he will unite the voting public like no one has, just not the way he expects.
What a waste of intellect.
Posted by: gimbol at November 6, 2009 7:21 AMI know it sounds nit-picky, but the guy that Barry was "shouting out" to on national television isn't even a recipient of the (Congressional) Medal of Honor.
He was awarded the civilian Congressional Gold Medal in 2008. A great honour, but certainly never to be glibly mistaken for the highest military decoration awarded by the United States government.

(This is meant to convey thinking, I believe.)

I was trying to see if there was a video of Obama commenting on the murder of late-term abortionist George Tiller. I know his statement on Tiller's murder came pretty darned quickly, and contained no shout outs.
It'd be an interesting contrast. A man who makes a living killing nearly-born babies gets more seriousness from Obama than the people who fight to keep us free.

Mark P is correct. This like most other so called "gaffes" are not gaffes at all. I suspect BO's words were carefully crafted to play down the event to the level of “isht happens”. You will be called a racist if you try an differentiate this event from the Columbine massacre. This is very similar to the lefts assessment that honour killings are nothing more than domestic violence. The left believe that this type of attack is inevitable and just. Lowering the expectations of Americans with respect to national security is the ultimate plan as they're reducing military spending to pay for Obamacare. Obama has stated on many occasions his desire for America to step-down from the status of “Superpower”.
I'll paraphrase Obama's speech since it was a little long winded. What Obama was trying to say is "Shut up, be happy; and put on a sweater".
btw, keeping with the hip hop theme, as the SDA resident rap specialist I'd like to advise Obama that shout-outs are at the end, not the beginning; and, "shut-up be happy" is a quote from an old Ice T tape.
I thought it was an incorrect link at first. He was more concerned with thanking his cronies and paying lip service to a voting block than he was about the dead and bleeding.
This guy is so shallow...

Posted by: xiat at November 6, 2009 12:42 PMMy darling Tuvia, a board certified forensic psychiatrist said that Obama was a psychopath. No feelings for others, detached affect, charismatic, charming with no moral compass.
Now the morons who voted for him are seeing glimpses - if they open their eyes.
"Probably the most widely recognized personality disorder. A sociopath is often well liked because of their charm and high charisma, but they do not usually care about other people. They think mainly of themselves and often blame others for the things that they do. They have a complete disregard for rules and lie constantly. They seldom feel guilt or learn from punishments. Though some sociopaths have become murders, most reveal their sociopathy through less deadly and sensational means...
A list of common (but not limited-to) sociopathic traits and charictaristics:
Egocentricity, callousness, lack of impulse control, exaggerated sexuality, great boasting, inability to resist temptation, a lowly attitude toward the opposite sex, a lack of intirest in bonding with a mate, siblings or their own children. Superficial and glib charm, need for stimulation and continuous praise, lack of remorse, guilt, empathy and behavioral controls. Juvinile delinquency, criminal versatility, many short-term relationships and sometimes a God-like grandiose sense of self worth. It all begins and ends with that person's defect of conscious.
Something like the Vulcans in Star Trek a sociopath's reasoning can't seem to handle any mixing of their cognition and emotions. Apparently, some of the more prominant psychologists believe it only takes THREE of the above to be defined as a sociopath."
The best we can hope for is Ebola in Washington DC. Especially the White House. Today.

Posted by: pythagoras at November 6, 2009 12:56 PMThank you SLOHomemaker. That is the conclusion I came to also: he's a PSYCHOPATH.
One quibble: I don't think there's any real difference between a sociopath and psychopath. In popular usage, a psychopath came to be thought of as a guy weilding a chainsaw for purposes other than trimming trees. The word sociopath, I believe, was invented to describe a kinder, gentler, non-murderous psycopath.
A departed customer of mine -- a PhD in psychology -- once told me that a large percentage of politicians are psychopaths. I believe this! [see: the chapter in Hayek's Road to Serfdom: How the Worst Get on Top].

LITTLE ROCK (AP) — Attorneys for the man charged with capital murder of an Army soldier at a Little Rock recruiting station are asking for a delay in the start of his trial.
Lawyers for 24-year-old Abdulhakim Muhammad say in a motion filed last week that they need more time to go through evidence in the case.
The current trial date is Feb. 15.
Muhammad was born Carlos Bledsoe. He's charged in the June shooting death of 23-year-old Pvt. William Long of Conway and in the wounding of another private as they stood outside the Army recruiting office.
Muhammad has pleaded not guilty. He told The Associated Press in a telephone interview in June that he considered the shooting justified.
Prosecutors have said they'll seek the death penalty."
