Hmmm. Do they accept submissions made on behalf of unwilling third parties?

Posted by: EBD at November 1, 2009 10:39 AM

Good show. I'd love to see you on it.

Posted by: sf at November 1, 2009 10:46 AM

Do it Kate!

Posted by: wendy.g at November 1, 2009 11:00 AM

Prey? Heck with that, I want Kate on the horse and that jerk on the ground running for his life. Yeah, I know, he's very skilled and makes the show, but I have a great urge to nail him with a paintball and knock him off that horse. Just can't explain it. Perhaps I have a genetic memory of being chased by cossacks...

Posted by: biff jupiter at November 1, 2009 11:12 AM

Must resist? Why? Go for it Kate.

Posted by: concrete at November 1, 2009 11:25 AM

Kate and Warren K as the prey....the whole show will be about who gives up the other first....in the case of hawaii, it would be who throws who in the volcano.

All seriousness, apply Kate.

Posted by: Stephen at November 1, 2009 11:47 AM

Kate, Apply! Now! Would love to see it.

Posted by: Woodporter at November 1, 2009 12:14 PM

I don't think you'd be allowed to carry a gun, BTW.

Posted by: wendy.g at November 1, 2009 12:34 PM

He'll probably ride too close to a grow-op, and get himself killed.

Posted by: dp at November 1, 2009 12:36 PM

I never understood why the prey didn't steal his horse at night and ride to the destination. Well, after mocking him for awhile. heh

Posted by: ol hoss at November 1, 2009 1:06 PM

Mantracker will be in Kenaston later this month

Posted by: Madman at November 1, 2009 1:48 PM

In Kenaston for what? Note how at the end of the chase, his prey almost always praises him. I loved the show where he had to comfort the traumatized girl. They get really involved!

Posted by: wendy.g at November 1, 2009 2:11 PM

I never understood why the prey didn't steal his horse at night and ride to the destination. Well, after mocking him for awhile. heh

Because touching Mantracker's horse would be the last stupid thing they ever did.

Posted by: langmann at November 1, 2009 2:24 PM

Mantracker never wet the bed as a child - the bed used to wet itself out of fear of Mantracker

Posted by: Stillrunnin at November 1, 2009 2:34 PM

Oh, after he walked a few mile in those boots he wouldn't be near so uppity. lol

Posted by: ol hoss at November 1, 2009 2:35 PM

It would be too easy for him, Kate. All he'd have to do is go to the nearest beach!

Posted by: Boss429 at November 1, 2009 3:10 PM

Hmm. At least the second time you've posted about this thing, K.

I'm getting the idea you'd enjoy going... And, as I said before, it'd be cool to see you on the show.

Something tells me you'd have a fairly decent chance of getting accepted.

Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at November 1, 2009 3:46 PM

It would be too easy for him, Kate. At every fork in the trail, he'd know you turned right.

Posted by: JDN at November 1, 2009 3:52 PM

Yeah, crawling 40km through tropical jungle is _my_ idea of fun.

Now, it were set in Sask somewhere I might be more disposed. Even then, I'm not sure I'd look forward to the 4 months of heavy training it would take just to get in shape for it.

Posted by: Kate at November 1, 2009 4:22 PM

Er, there was a small typo in that ad ... should have read Bamtracker. If he gets caught, he'll be forced to pony up his birth certificate.

Yeah but the damn horse would give you away....it's outside the rules but better in real life to nail hime when he is asleep....nah...he likely sleeps like an alligator--with one eye open.
Better to set up something to lame his horse----he likely wouldn't do well as a pedestrian.
I'm too old for that sh*t.
When I did that stuff---the only rule was don't die. At least he hasn't a firearm....
I only saw one show---the prey kept in deadfalls( a mine-field for a horse)---forcing him to circle around and back track. They won---but they were also in the sorta shape I was in decades back.
Basically this is amateurs versus a professional.
He wouldn't fare well--or survive---an encounter with the graduates of the US Army "escape and evade" course.(Fort Bliss).

You're forgetting one important fact.
There's only one man-tracker on the big island.
He doesn't ride a horse; he drives a black Mercury Park Lane.
That's right ... McGarrett. Five-O.
Aloha.

"Note how at the end of the chase, his prey almost always praises him. I loved the show where he had to comfort the traumatized girl. They get really involved!"

I think that's called "Stockholm syndrome".

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, just another BS survival show???

glad I don't watch any TV!!!

Well, lemme tellya, nothing makes you feel better than four months of heavy training, if you can get away from other stuff. While I'm lazy lately, I know that when I return to the gym, well, let's call it "Return to Nirvana". The more hardcore, the better!

Must admit, however, currently it would take me the same amount of training to prepare to do that stuff on that show. I've let myself go due to sitting on my ass so much on my free time, blogging... Hi, I'm CS, and I'm a blogaholic...

Don't know if any of you know Jason McCoy from The Road Hammers - I heard about him being the prey for next season. Here's a link to his Twitter page Go to Sept. 30th read up to Oct. 7
http://twitter.com/thejasonmccoy

Should be fun to watch.

Kate would be fun too. 'specially in Sask :) The gophers would really get his goat.

Posted by: Albrrrta at November 1, 2009 8:47 PM

Bah. The "prey" never circles back and sets an ambush? Please.

Huntin' Humans can be dangerous, sonny jim.

Posted by: mojo at November 1, 2009 9:49 PM

I have rode with him and he's good. The prey is usually on the run and not given to back tracking him because they are trying to get away. It has been shot in Sask,2 episodes in '07 shown in '08 and a couple more in '08 for '09 season.

Posted by: rancher at November 1, 2009 11:29 PM

Is this a Canadian Television Production? I don't think I've ever heard of it, but it sounds interesting.

Posted by: Gary in Kansas at November 2, 2009 1:44 AM

You'll find clips on youtube, if you do a search on "mantracker".

Posted by: Kate at November 2, 2009 8:08 AM

Its all good entertainment, but from what I've seen, just more reality TV b.s.

The camera work and choppy editting tells me it is all pretty staged. You can rarely get a grip on where pred and prey are in relationship to each other, and when you can, you wonder why Mantracker conveniently doesn't see the big doofus with the camera following the prey.

The most entertaining bits are certainly the contestants breaking down under the strain of this extremely staged and not very straining chase. I get the feeling that reality TV is very good at singling out fragile personalities for their shows.

Question, why do these chumps spend so much time walking when you could run the distance in a few short hours?

Posted by: Junker at November 2, 2009 9:30 AM

I would like to see him up against a couple of our JTF2 soldiers.

Posted by: Rob C at November 2, 2009 10:36 AM

"I never understood why the prey didn't steal his horse at night and ride to the destination. Well, after mocking him for awhile. heh"

I would imagine they're secure at night. He's openly rather apprehensive about leaving his horses alone even for a few minutes during the day because of that possibility.
