We Interrupt This Program For A Subliminal Message From The Nanny State

We urge all citizens to remain calm during this period of severe vaccine shortage.

Please continue to exercise, avoid sugar, trans-fats, exposure to second hand smoke, caffeine, alcohol; wear your seatbelt, wear your helmet, wear your sunblock, wear your mittens; check your blood pressure, check your turkey roasting guidelines, check your playground equipment, check your winter emergency travel kit, check your perfume at the office door.

Expectant mothers, the elderly and very young are asked to be particularly diligent during the current outbreak.

Please continue to work hard, pay your taxes, and await further instructions re: clinics in your area until the vaccination period for the high risk priority crack whore and criminal communities is complete..

Thank you.

What a great opportunity to do some medical experiments.

Posted by: dp at October 31, 2009 12:29 PM

It only makes sense to immunize those who currently cost the taxpayers and the government big dollars to keep alive. All the priority groups do not pay taxes: they are either medically compromised, children or street people.(sarc)

There is something very odd about this whole swine flu or H1N1 pandemic. My daughter brought home a pamphlet stating that it is being called a pandemic because this is a never seen b4 flu virus, but then in the next breath it states that the virus has been renamed H1N1 as opposed to swine flu not because the flue virus has changed, but to comply with WHO protocol.

The swine flu first came on the scene in 1979, so it has been seen b4. Only one person died from the flu then, but 28 died from the shot.

Personally, I believe the pandemic is nothing short of a planned emergency response trial to see how effectively or how quickly countries are able to react to a real future threat that could occur from a biological warfare attack(Emergency Response Exercise).

I am also wondering why there have been published articles stating that persons born b4 1957 are already immune. If this is a never been seen b4 virus, this group should not be immune either.

The vaccine hasn't gone through the regular trial for a drug or vaccine to be approved; therefore, anyone who gets the shot is a bonified human guinea pig.

The pandemic also serves a secondary purpose: the monetary and other strains on the health care system this "pandemic" is inevitably causing, can be used to justify further changes to health care systems.

"Something" just is not right, can not put my finger on it. I also noted that there was a 2 year, widely publized and reported in the media, lead in that we were "due" for a pandemic b4 swine flue came on the scene which was strikingly similiar to a hollywood promotion for a new movie release. It all just seems so contrived.

Inmates at Ontario jails and correctional centres will be vaccinated for the swine flu Monday,
while the guards protecting them have been told their clinics have been cancelled, the Sun
has learned.

To add insult to injury, he said, the guards will be part of the security for the clinic.

"They want us to help put the clinic on and we're not getting the vaccine?" said Duffy, a 23-year
veteran. "We have pregnant women on the job. It's not right."

The correctional services ministry couldn't be reached for comment last night.

i allus get a chuckle from the people who run the shelters who describe the inhabitants as 'clients'....i guess it adds some dignity to the sordid situation....it pretends there has been a quid pro quo between the giver and the taker......(which to the lefty mind there HAS been)

If I understand correctly, the vaccine preparation uses trypsin, which is prepared from porcine pancreas glands and porcine gelatin. Hence I find myself wondering where our orthodox Jewish friends and devout Muslims would place themselves in the queue for swine flu vaccination. Have these communities been given the green light to take the shot from their Rabbis and Imams? Anyone know?

Odd at 12:36. Exactly!

Posted by: kdl at October 31, 2009 1:08 PM

No john begley, they are a source of income & therefore clients (in a twisted liberal sort of way)

Further irony...

Healthcare workers are saying it's too hard to figure out which people have the risk factors for H1N1, so they'll just give it to everyone that asks for it. Oddly, speaking from experience with 3, I'm sure since flowvent & ventillin for asthma and glicizides, actos & metformin for diabetes require prescriptions. So would it be really tough to ask to present a pill bottle with your name on it?

Posted by: the bear at October 31, 2009 1:17 PM

Does anyone know for sure what country/continent the H1N1 flu vaccine used in Canada is being manufactured in?
I'd hate to think it's China...no quality controls there now is there. NOT.

Of course.
Children are expendable, especially in a created panic like this.
If the homeless die of the swine flu (and let's hope no one else dies), the same garbage collectors like the ones who ruined Canada Day in Toronto will be arguing who picks up the dead. We would have to sit through ANOTHER David Miller (or some other mayor) apology. There would be more concessions and more union arm-twisting. In the end, vaccinating the forgotten just seems like a way to avoid a big headache.
It's cynical but there it is.

Other than children those at high risk, not including the elderly btw, are the ONLY one's that should ever consider getting any flu vaccine, ever!
The flu vaccine is impotent for the elderly, "doesn't work" on them.
They just want to sell the vaccine.

Posted by: blanks at October 31, 2009 1:47 PM

Whatever one thinks or believes, the fact remains that the vaccine has not been subjected to the rigorous safety testing process before its release.

Time will tell if the pandemic is used by politicians or other public officials to advocate for health care changes.

Time will tell how effective or efficient the immunization program is, and/or safe the vaccination proves to be.

Any advertising or marketing professional knows that the surest way to increase demand is to limit the supply a product. Hence, the limit of "4 per customer" sales strategy so often seen in grocery stores.

Preliminary unofficial polls I viewed on the net showed that btwn 60 and 70 per cent of the population were not going to get the shot. Now people are changing their tune due to the shortage-tell people they can not have something and they want it. It's human nature.

Giving the shot to those deemed "worthless and a drain" on society only serves to escalate demand further and cause an uproar, especially when these vagabonds are receiving vaccination ahead of our precious children. The result will be an outcry that the shot should be given to those who produce and benefit society as opposed to those who are a drain. This current outcry could possibly lead to a reversal in policy in respect to who has priority for medical care in the event of a massive public medical emergency or disaster. Just a thought.

I used to get flu shots for one reason. One of my co-workers took immuno suppresents for a transplant. I did not want to be the one that infected her. WHO started the panic, shortages finished the job. That is human nature to want what you can't have. You are infective at least a day before you display symptoms. If you are sick..stay home..unless you are with WK then please go to work. If you work with Hedy..sneeze on her and lick her cup.

"Never ascribe to malice that which can best be explained by incompetence"

There's nothing 'odd' about any of this. It's a real time example of how utterly incompetent our government run health system is particularly, the Public Health division.

Public Health is peopled with risk adverse individuals who like to go to meetings. They don't actually do anything (other than come up with more and more ways to limit your personal freedoms but that's accomplished in committee, via consensus and is risk free). So, when they are required to make a decision, with a few glaring exceptions (think the late Sheela Basrur), they are simply incapable. They either have no experience with the real world or have run away from it (doctors & nurses who can't cope in the higher pressure jobs in hospitals, clinics etc.).

It's what happens when you put "community organizers" in charge.

Influenzavirus A
'# H1N1, which caused Spanish flu in 1918, and the 2009 flu pandemic'
Even those at "high risk" might want to re-consider having a vaccine since the H1N1 of 1918 killed most victims with a healthy immune system;
'Scientists have used tissue samples from frozen victims to reproduce the virus for study. Given the strain's extreme virulence there has been controversy regarding the wisdom of such research. Among the conclusions of this research is that the virus kills via a cytokine storm (overreaction of the body's immune system) which explains its unusually severe nature and the concentrated age profile of its victims. The strong immune systems of young adults ravaged the body, whereas the weaker immune systems of children and middle-aged adults caused fewer deaths'
They might be better off without it.

The numbers do not reveal Swine flu as being dangerous, the flu vaccine is untested, politicians are promoting it which is automatic cause for caution, and the failing MSM is doing their best not to broadcast any relevant facts.

I am immuno-suppressed from a transplant and I will not get a Swine Flu vaccination. The math just does not support the mania surrounding the swine flu. That is the reason you have never heard the numbers put in perspective like Blanks has.

Why is there a complete lack of critical thinking skills in the panicking participants? I think the point Kate made can be traced to the Government run educational system. Merit and responsibility were all but brutally extinguished, and out with it went the ability to think for yourself. 20 minutes on the computer would reveal that the actual comparison by the WHO's worldwide figures is 5000 deaths so far compared to 250-500K per year for regular flu.

I would rather die than participate in a lashed up panic.

Posted by: RCGZ at October 31, 2009 3:32 PM

I'm not getting the shot. I'm immune. If anyone believes the shot is more dangerous than the disease, think again. I was sick for almost 2 weeks. My lungs are still draining. I had a touch of pneumonia, which I've never had in my life. I coughed, non-stop, for 2 days. My heart beat at about 120 bpm for almost 2 days. I didn't sleep for almost 2 days. I couldn't eat for a week, and couldn't drink for 3 days(not even water). Just when I thought I was getting better, my lungs filled with fluid. If I wasn't in good shape, I'd have had trouble coughing them clear.

Don't fool around with this one. Get the shot.

This reminds me of the book 1984 where the telescreen instructed Winston Smith to perform his morning exercises.

When the nanny state demands and expects your continued health and labor on its behalf, they have the need to control every aspect of your "well-being".

BTW, related to this and the anniversary of the Berlin Wall falling, I have an amazing photo of East German guards escorting an elderly lady to the West. It seems that when someone was able to work, they'd get shot trying to escape. But as soon as someone reached pension age and would consume rather than produce, they were not only free to leave but encouraged to do so:

Apparently, not everyone on Prince Edward Island finds it perverse that prison inmates are preferred over children. "Enough already from PEI" faults his local newspaper for reporting the situation. To quote him:

"I am so sick of peoples attitudes concerning H1N1 and it's vaccines . It has turned the public into monsters. All of a sudden we are measuring who is more worthy or being vaccinated. You the media are causing an uproar publishing these stories. You are sowing the seeds of fear and hate."

"Calm down, stay away from the mobs, get a shot when the supply:demand situation is favorable."

No, keep panicking because;

How long does it take for the vaccine to become effective? It takes several weeks for the body to react by making antibodies which then help protect it from getting the flu at all or at least lessen the seriousness of the case.

Posted by: blanks at October 31, 2009 5:07 PM

dp...sorry to hear you were so ill, I hope you are recovering. Would you mind sharing how old you are?

The problem, as I see it, is lack of credible information coupled with contradiction (the ones stated to be most at risk for death: the young and young adults) are not being given priority; coincidence (last minute production problems & government displaying competency and forethought in warning citizens of possible pandemic at least 2 years ago and stated need for preparedness) all of which (understandably?) have led to confusion, conjecture and conspiracy.

Public mistrust of government, competency and intention, certainly exacerbates the situation.

I've been getting and will continue to get flu shots mainly because of my work environment. Cancer patients are already vulnerable without catching something that could have been prevented.

As for evidence that the shots actually work, I skipped my shots one season and caught something that took me down for a week. Coincidence, I don't know but better to err on the safe side (and what seems to work for me).

I went to a dinner party last night, where I and other guests enjoyed copious amounts of alcohol.

I awoke this morning not feeling well, with what could be described as flu-like symptoms; headache, nausea, chills, sore eyes, etc.

From the results of some initial testing, I have unfortunately tested positive for what experts are now calling Wine Flu.

This debilitating condition is very serious - and it appears this is not an isolated case.

Reports are flooding in from all around the country of others diagnosed with Wine Flu. To anyone that starts to exhibit the aforementioned tell-tale signs, experts are recommending a cup of tea and a bit of a lie down.

However, should your condition worsen, you should immediately hire a DVD and take some Nurofen (Nurofen seems to be the only drug available that has been proven to help combat this unusual type of flu). Others are reporting a McDonald's Happy Meal can also help in some cases. If not, then further application of the original liquid, in similar quantities to the original dose, has been shown to do the trick.

Wine Flu does not need to be life threatening and, if treated early, can be eradicated within a 24-48 hour period.

Cheers!

NOTE
If you find you are complaining a lot, it may be that it has mutated into Whine Flu. This is particularly common in men and can quickly spread to their partners where the symptoms are detected as a serious case of eye-rolling.

For all those that think that vomiting is the flu, think again. Vomiting and upset stomach is either gastroenteritis or food poisoning. We have always called gastroenteritis the flu, but in medical terms it is not. The flu is usually characterized with the same symptoms of a cold, but with muscle aches, fever, and fatigue. There is a loss of appetite, and in children there can be vomiting, but this symptom does not usually appear in adults. In a lot of cases of h1n1 the flu symptoms are mild and can be mistaken for a common cold. The recent increase in cases of pneumonia seem to be caused by the seasonal flu.

As someone else has already pointed out, puking is NOT influenza. Influenza is a lengthy illness, respiratory, sometimes involves a little puking or diarrhea. For those who think that modern antibiotics will save us, remember the Spanish flu killed people overnight. Antibiotics would have done nothing. Even a usual ventilator often isn't adequate. In Winnipeg they were using heart/lung bypass on some patients to oxygenate blood. (Don't give me the crap about these were immune-compromised patients. We need herd immunity to protect these people, too.)

Just heard a newscast. Diarrhea and vomiting are now part of the H1N1 package. They're scrambling to get the numbers up. Just like with Listeria.

Well I read today that it may be weeks before there is enough vacine to do the general non priority populace. So that is fine by me because I don't have to make a decision on whether or not to take the shot. Forced delay. Saves me the sweat of making a decision. yea!!!

By the time I would be allowed in a line up, we should know much more about the vaccine itself and the progression of the disease.

I don't understand why people think that the vaccine is "experimental and dangerous". Perhaps your parents should have forgone your polio vaccine and you could get infected with that. Vaccines are developed in similar ways for every flu and disease. There is nothing more dangerous in the swine flu vaccine than in any other vaccine. I wouldn't want to be a parent who didn't vaccinate their child and then had their child die from the swine flu. I would feel responsible forever because I did have an alternative. Whether the vaccine will be very effective remains to be seen but I don't believe that getting this shot is "dangerous". Just because it's Halloween folks.

Ayn Rand wrote in a 1963 essay titled, "How Not To Fight Against Socialized Medicine":

"Consider, for instance, the outcome of the Canadian doctors’ struggle in Saskatchewan. The doctors had gone on strike against the full-scale socialized medicine instituted by the provincial government. They won the battle—and lost the war; in exchange for a few superficial concessions, they surrendered the principle for which they had been fighting: to permit no socialized medicine in the Western hemisphere.

"They surrendered, even though the overwhelming sympathy and support of the Canadian people were on their side (except for the intellectuals and the labor unions). They were defeated, not by the power of the socialists, but by the gaping holes in their own ideological armor.

"They had been fighting, properly, in the name of individual rights, against the enslavement of medicine by totalitarian-statist controls. Then, under the pressure of the usual intellectual lynching, under the hysterical, collectivist charges of “anti-social selfishness and greed,” they made a shocking change in their stand. Declaring, in effect, that their rebellion was not directed against socialized medicine as such, but against the high-handed, arbitrary manner in which the government had put it over, their spokesmen began to argue that the government plan did not represent “the will of the people.” The ideological kiss of death was a statement by Dr. Dalgleish, the strikers’ leader, who declared that if a plebiscite were taken and the people voted for it, the doctors would accept socialized medicine.

"Could they deserve to win, after that? They could not and did not."
