Y2Kyoto: The Final Solution To Global Warming

Without realizing it , a progressive writer in the Guardian mounts the strongest argument yet for closing the doors to third-world immigration;

A cull of Australians or Americans would be at least 60 times as productive as one of Bangladeshis.

So I say, leave them all in Bangladesh, where their little carbon footprints do the least damage.

Why just Yanks and Aussies? Compared to Bangladeshis, I'll bet Guardian columnists living in the London area are carbon footprint hogs too.*

I think a little self-culling on Renton's part would set a better example.

The banality of evil, indeed.

* Wonder how Renton views Al Gore? He's an American, he has four kids and his carbon footprint is off the chart.

Posted by: JJM at October 25, 2009 11:13 AM

I couldn't bring myself to read it, but the Guardian also has a hit piece on Harper out today. I'd guess by the same "reporter" who blew Iggy the few weeks ago.

A cull of newspaper workers would save a lot of trees, and the gasoline and diesel fuel consumed to distribute their junk, which eventually ends up in landfill. Remember, paper is made from trees, which are the lungs of the planet, absorbing all that bad CO2. Newspapers murder millions of trees every day. If those newspaper worker don't stop injuring the planet by murdering the planet's lungs, the oceans will rise and drown the Bagladeshis.

Culling off the elitist political class and the humanity-loathing technocrats would totally eliminate all the 'crisis' which these alarmists pimp for power and profit in these post-democratic days.

Posted by: fly at October 25, 2009 11:30 AM

And anyway, anyone too eager to diminish the value of human life (whether the life of a Bangladeshi, an American or an Australian), is not someone I care to waste much attention on.

Posted by: JJM at October 25, 2009 11:36 AM

We are entering an era of massive government retrenchment - the money just isn't there and even the Ontario Liberals and Toronto's perfect little socialist mayor admits he has to cut the city budgets.

Rich financial handouts to immigrants will be high on the budget cut list.

There's a saying that if you can't set an example, you should serve as a warning.

Bangladesh - 196th place in GDP per person, 138th place in inflation, 83rd in life expectancy, 48% are literate and 45% live below the poverty line.

Renton sees example, I see warning - and with a net migration rate of -2.53/1000 (145th place), so do the Bangladeshis themselves.

I'm with Lord Monckton, they're trying to take us back to the stone age. If you find an old outhouse or washboard to wash clothes better grab them up, you're going to need them if common sense doesn't soon kick in.

If we cull people based on their carbon footprint, I would have no problem with that. No offsets allowed.

These leftoids think that just because they recycle and purchase offsets, they are morally superior to the rest of us.

Factor out the offset's, and I will put my carbon footprint against any moonbat's, any day.

Posted by: kingstonlad at October 25, 2009 12:09 PM

Culling Al Gore has to be worth a small city in Bangledesh.

What's next? Econuts putting out hits on conspicuous large footprinters? Better yet suicide bombers doing the same thing on say a transatlantic airliner. The nexus of radical islam and radical envitonmentalism may soon be upon us.

I agree, leave them where their footprints are fewer.

What is ridiculous is the left's belief that these are shocking or even novel ideas. The green cult has just combined (with slight revision) the ideas of Original Sin with the superiority of the Noble Savage. Building a new religion on the ruins of the old is quite common throughout history.

Hell's bell's, what a lot of worthless time gets spent by salaried and pensioned so-called professionals in our western economies: journalists; university professors; politicians; bureaucrats and the rest of the save-the-world army lounging around us pontificating while consuming every bit as much as the rest of us, if not more. Not that it matters at all, but we could probably reduce the carbon count to their precious 350 just by cancelling this idiot Copenhagen conference coming up.

If only we could cull these grifters, the planet could be saved and there would be a huge increase in the standard of living for everyone remaining and their children and pets.

Posted by: felis corpulentis at October 25, 2009 1:39 PM

Exactly right Kate.

Posted by: TJ at October 25, 2009 1:42 PM

Yes, every Third World person that comes to the First World, and lives our good life, will contribute to the "problem" as the Latte Left sees it.

But putting a halt to immigration is NOT what the elites want. They want a world that is governed by super "intelligent" elites who control the masses of which there is no middle class.

The two most effective ways to destroy the economy and along with it, the middle class?

1) Make energy horrendously expensive (think wind, solar, biofuel)

2) Depopulation. (think any small town of which the young people always leave.

Note: The previous favorite destroyer of the middle class was communism/socialism. But is has been thoroughly discredited so they went on to plan B - the enviro-fascists.

He was mentioned recently on the Glenn Beck show - it may be a start.

He was Paul Martin's mentor and chief puppet string puller.

It is NOT about population control. It IS about wealth transfer. Wealth transfer from the middle class to the elites and the Third World. Guess who will be the agents and chief beneficiaries ?? (Think carbon credits)

Dare to be a Daniel; dare to stand alone.

Stand with PM Harper.

“Canadian PM Stephen Harper may simply ignore Copenhagen’s climate change scam

Environmental evangelicals are the most gullible constituency on the planet. They will be spouting industrial quantities of domga at the Copenhagen treaty summit this December. Here’s a prediction: after it’s all over, the last man standing at the BS Corral may well turn out to be Stephen Harper – Conservative prime minister of Canada, normally a country susceptible to Green scare stories.

James Delingpole argued recently that that will require productive countries to hand over their cash to those with a proven track record of p—ing it away. A larger-scale version of what the EU is doing already, if you will.”

JJM;

The kind of people who are "eager to diminish the value of human life" are precisely the type you need to pay attention to. Had everyone been paying attention to the global warming charade from the beginning, public pressure on politicians would have already put an end to it. We are where we are precisely because too many have acted out your advice.

I have three friends formerly from Bangladesh. Not only did they work their butts off to get into Canada, they work their butts off still. If the eco-racism Mr. Renton is spouting out is correct, I could have three MORE Bangladeshi friends and not him.
That sounds like a deal to me. After all, Mr. Renton doesn't sound like a good friend to me but three generous hard-working new Canadians sound great!

A cull of environmentalists and "Peak Population" theorists would simply make the entire issue ... well die , for lack of a better word.

Saving all the wasted resources producing, publishing, distributing this nonsense.

I had to go back and read the comments at the Guardian site. This comment struck me as particularly bizarre:

"I don't think Alex dislikes people per se, for you will note that he is quite open to the idea of procreation by groups other than his own. No, I think his pose (and it is a pose) arises from a belief that the mark of a true intellectual is a readiness to criticize one's own society and to see merit in others. It is a view often acquired by bright adolescents and later discarded as shallow, but some retain it, and those who do retain it tend to show up later in disproportionate numbers as media commentators."

Haven't seen it here on the Prairies and neither did the Maritimes this year.

Posted by: Mary at October 25, 2009 8:13 PM

If someone were really really serious about climate change (with the big assumption that CO2 has some impact) then we would immediately begin building nuclear power plants adjacent to our existing coal plants, then convert the coal plant to a synfuels plant (most likely methanol output). The cooling water supply and power lines/transformers could be largely used as-is. The coal handling facilities and rail lines are also already in place. The only off site work would be routing the gas pipeline to the plant and the methanol pipeline back to pipeline terminals or refinery complex. It lowers the "carbon footprint" while allowing coal miners to keep their jobs. The methanol can be blended into regular gasoline. North America has the natural gas, the coal, and the uranium for a century or two, plenty of time to develop something more renewable (fusion? who knows). It is win win win.

I tried making this very argument to a liberal friend when the subject of immigration from Mexico came up. It is pretty clear to me by his reaction that they don't really believe in this whole climate thing, so trying to hold them to consistency on it will prove fruitless.

Democrats and liberals want one thing from Mexican immigration, their votes.

Posted by: tim in vermont at October 26, 2009 1:51 PM

RicardoVerde,
There are fusion plants in the concept phase that could be rolled in in place of a conventional plant. There is an engineering problem of stepping down the two million volts produced by the reactor, but it could be installed on the site of a coal plant if it proves out, but I just don't know what kind of conventional nuclear power plant could be placed on the site of any old coal plant. Seems like they are on either Great Lakes like Ontario, or, in the US anyway, great rivers like The Ohio and Susquehanna.

Posted by: tim in vermont at October 26, 2009 1:56 PM

All of the global average temperatures for the entire 20th century and until the present are accurately calculated with no consideration whatsoever needed of changes to the level of atmospheric carbon dioxide or any other greenhouse gas. The details are in a new paper at http://climaterealists.com/index.php?tid=145&linkbox=true . There is no Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) (and therefore no human caused climate change) from added atmospheric carbon dioxide.
