The world needs no more Canadian attitude:
... Hey look: Holbrooke’s getting a new tempPosted by Mark at October 20, 2009 8:19 PM
Ok, maybe I have been too long working on an essay on the Battle of the Scheldt, but am I missing something in this one?
Aside from the fact that we are preparing to write off the sacrifices of over 100 soldiers and airmen and abandon the people of Afhanistan.
Oh to have an actual conservative leading this country.
I for one cannot lay this at the feet of the Tories. They are, properly respecting "The Will of Parliament"....it is not up to them or us to ignore "The Will of Parliament"---even if it was actually the will of "the cut and run crowd" Dion, Layton and Ducepte.....
The casualties are the result of Cretin's enthusiastic decision to leave Kabul for Kandahar.
Talk about juxtaposition:
We have jim saying our present P.M. is not conservative enough(because he will pull out) and sasquatch blaming the former Liberal P.M. (for going in.)
And no other comments for 2 hours.
Do we have our heads in the sand?
Where's George W. Bush when we and the Afghans need him? Now the Lilliputians are in charge.
Posted by: Dave in Pa at October 20, 2009 10:29 PMbluetech, " And no other comments for 2 hours." That is probably, speaking for myself, because both AtlanticJim and sasquatch are correct, although I hope I am correct in that Harper would be somewhat more "conservative" if he had a majority.
It is tough being a conservative in a country where the educational system has brainwashed two generations and working on the third.
Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at October 20, 2009 10:48 PMI think iti s tough ...do we saty in there and make those who layed there lives down not have done so in vien and stand beside our american and british allies ? or do we pull out in an effort to preserve ourselves in an absolutly exhausting ,and very difficult war , of witch we can very easily win if we all really apply our selves ..why do we nickle and dime our way through this ? i don't get it ....this is probly the worst logistical nightmare of a war in history ..as there are belive it or not people over there who love our countries and side with us ....so what do you do just drop bombs until white flag's start waving or do we take the moral high ground and be compassionate and find the needle in the haystack no matter what it cost's the west ? it is a tough one . And in all honesty i really don't know witch side to choose myself as i want us out of there but also i want to give those in the middle east some hope that we will succeeed and not leave them high and dry .
I will trust my govornment on this one as i can't make a call myself .

Posted by: paul at October 20, 2009 10:52 PMCDN forces in Afghanistan is but a small portion of NATO effort.
Harper's hands are tied in a minority parliament.
He's pragmatic. Joe Clark wasn't.
Do you really want the Libs back in?
sasquatch said: "The casualties are the result of Cretin's enthusiastic decision to leave Kabul for Kandahar."
Actually most of the casualties are due to Chretien canceling those helicopters 'waaaay back when. Its hard to blow up a helicopter with a roadside bomb. Much easier to blow up an Iltis or an "armored" car. Where the "armor" won't stop a .50cal bullet.
The fact that we don't have any tanks or mine resistant trucks doesn't help either.
Or airplanes. Zero ground attack, zero air superiority, zero transport in theater.
Or ships.
Or decent artillery.
Or proper uniforms (under Martin, anyway)
Etc.
About all we do have is some of the hardest @ssed soldiers in the entire world, who are now getting pretty freakin' tired. Because they've all been on two tours already and are looking at three.
All of which gets laid directly at the feet of the Liberal Party of Canada AND the Mulroney PCs. They destroyed the world's third largest navy and turned it into a four-ship coast guard. They destroyed the world's third largest air force and made it into a single squadron flying really old airplanes.
I'm not even going to go into what they did to the Army, I was there watching them do it as a kid and it made me sick. No boots? Come on!
So you know what? Harper does have to leave by 2011. They can't do anything else. They've shot their bolt and now must retreat. That's all they got.
If they want to stay, they have to recruit another couple of brigades, meaning about 10,000 men. At least. 20,000 would be better.
They can't stand up two whole brigades by 2011. They don't have the money, plus you can't recruit and train 10,000 guys that fast when your training system is geared to do a few hundred, and everybody else is fighting. They'd have to pay the Americans to do it.
They aren't going to get more money because A) its a recession and B) the Liberals/NDP/Blockheads will never allow cuts to anything... except the military.
Bottom line, it doesn't matter a damn what the situation in Afstan is or who's getting screwed over. We have to leave. We're done like dinner.
Now, given all that, do you want to vote for the MORONS who made it that way and are keeping it that way, or for the guys trying to fix it while the morons throw rocks at them?
Posted by: The Phantom at October 21, 2009 9:51 AMThe Phantom, you got that right. I was there for some of the early cuts when the libtards started the massive defunding of the military. That "Progressive" Conservative Lyan Brian just carried the process on.
Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at October 21, 2009 12:09 PMExcellant post Phantom....
I just knew we kept you around for something.....
Posted by: sasquatch at October 21, 2009 2:07 PMKen, respectfully, I don't agree with your take on Harper. I do not believe he should sell out on his principles to stay in power and bring the same kind of government the three idiots would bring. He becomes the fourth idiot. I think he should have been true to himself and his beliefs and if the coalition of idiots take over, so be it. Maybe Canada needs some events like this to bring about real change in our system. If Harper honestly believes in the Afghan mission, he should keep us there and let the chips fall where they fall.
