Methane differs from CO2 in that methane is highly reactive (as you Blue Angel fans know). It takes CO2 an average of 50 to 100 years to be removed from the atmosphere, whereas it's about 12 years for methane.

This makes things more complicated, cause climate models must model the rate of methane breakdown accurately or be seriously wrong.
