How Are Those Plans For The Surge Coming Along?

BREAKING NEWS: FNC is reporting Barack Obama has just won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Apparently it was for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," the Norwegian Nobel Committee said, citing his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation.

FYI Nominations closed February 01st, two weeks into Obama's presidency.

madness, let's see did he get it for trying to set up a left wing dictatorship in Honduras, throwing Poland, the Czech Republic and Israel under the bus, maybe his actions against the Iranian nukes, his decisive actions against the repressive terrorist Taliban in Afghanistan, creating a new touchy feely America, wait I figured it out, he got because he gave Queen Elizabeth II an Ipod full of his speeches, there, that explains it.

Posted by: Bob from Virginia at October 9, 2009 6:55 AM

If this isn't a joke, and I have only read it from the AP, so I am not sure yet, maybe it the silver stake that nails any remaining credibility that the Peace Prize had to the back of the coffin.

Posted by: tim in vermont at October 9, 2009 6:57 AM

Not a joke? Oh, yes it is. In dubious taste.

Serenity, now....the Peace Prize jumped the shark a long time ago. Not that the Great and Good won't use this to beat us unwashed over the head for the next three years, or more.

Hope = Peace.

After extensive research, Norwegians have found that hope equals peace.

Got problems with your wife? hope for change.
Issues with your boss? hope for better times.
Loud demonstrators at the embassy? hope they go away.
Lies in the MSM? hope for more honest reporting
Too many countries with nukes? hope for disarmament.

Geez, I feel better already. I've resolved nearly all my problems, and the sun hasn't even risen today.

Now I wonder who manipulate this sock puppet, definitely not Chicago.

This is all over network news. I already thought the Nobel Peace Prize was political. Now I know it's a disgusting joke. Even Matt Lauer at NBC is saying there is no thing done to deserve this.

Posted by: tim in vermont at October 9, 2009 7:14 AM

On a serious note...

Like so many government initiatives, I fear that this selection will not result in what it was intended to do.

I believe that these misguided Nobel Peace selectors must believe that awarding him this prize will inspire others to talk, and seriously consider peace for all conflicts.

Sadly, I fear the reverse will come true.

Posted by: Dave in Mississauga at October 9, 2009 7:20 AM

Wait...did he make a documentary somewhere along the line that I missed?

Posted by: manorrd at October 9, 2009 7:22 AM

Simply unbelievable.

It must be completely demoralizing to lifelong peacemakers to see this chump get the prize for eight months of psuedo work and platitude spewing.

Posted by: Mark Peters at October 9, 2009 7:22 AM

I think Obama's "earning" of the Nobel Peace Prize does more to cement the utter irrelevancy of the Peace prize rather than to give Obama any more credibility (though you know he's going to flog it for all it's worth). He joins the ranks of Yasser Arafat, who continued his jihad against Israel but decided to use the "peace process" to further his goals of weakening Israel, and whose Palestinian Authority was so hopelessly corrupt that it drove Palestinian voters into the arms of Hamas. He also joins Al Gore, who with the straightening of the hockey stick that has come in recent weeks will be proven as one of the greatest con-artists in history, sounding the alarm on climate change so that people will buy carbon credits from his own company. What is sad is the number of worthy people whose far more worthier contributions to peace are overlooked in favour of those who are more well known (I was trying to find the name of the woman who was in the running the same time as Al Gore but I was unable to - if any one else can fidn it let me know)- I think it may be a case of the peace prize committee being desperate for attention rather than fulfilling the commission Alfred Nobel had originally given it. I feel sorry for Alfred Nobel's legacy; Obama's going to make the peace prize committee a laughingstock by the time he's through.

Posted by: fred at October 9, 2009 7:25 AM

And in addition, he gets a nice chunk of change.

Posted by: violet at October 9, 2009 7:41 AM

Good. This will do more in a short time to discredit the Nobel Peace Prize than any of the other discreditable things the committee has done (Arafat, Carter, IAEA, Gore etc.).

Even the Left is going to have a hell of a time explaining this one, and many of them will be embarrassed by the excuses they have to make -- and no, I'm not naive, because it's already starting. Schoolchildren and the mentally defective will be taken in, but that's about it. Ultimately, Obama will look foolish.

This is just one more stage in the-emperor-has-no-clothes presidency.

Posted by: MJ at October 9, 2009 7:42 AM

This from the London Times:

"The Norwegian Nobel Committee's head librarian, Anne Kjelling, could not say whether Mr Obama was personally informed of the decision but told The Times that there was no reason to think that he would turn it down."

I'd say, with a nod to ET, that Ms Kjelling got that one right.

This is the European intellectual establishment delivering a last kick to the groin to the US Republicans. The awarding of this prize is all symbolism and no substance -- rather like Obama's presidency itself.

They should award him the Nobel Prize for Economics as well, for which he's equally deserving. After all, he's expressed a lot of hope about economics, and that's the criterion, isn't it?

From a Times of London commentary...

"It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration..."

A couple of years ago it went to Goreacle for his science fiction effort to alarm the world about a non-problem. The Nobel peace prize has become a meaningless bauble

Posted by: Edward Teach at October 9, 2009 8:56 AM

On a serious note, this does make some sense. Years ago, someone had noted that there seemed to be a correlation between Time's "Man of the Year" award and the beginning of the downfall of that man. There may be something similar going on here.

There can be no doubt that the Nobel Peace selection committee is very political with a very obvious left slant. It may very well be that even they knew that in subsequent years Obama's record would be such that most people would realize that his efforts had increased the risk of world war rather than the other way around. So it would have to be in either his first or second year of his presidency. If the selection committee took seriously Mr. Biden's prediction of a global crisis within Obama's first year as well as the reports from European intel agencies that the Iranian threat is increasing, then the selection of his first year is understandable.

When one considers that he is in the company of Yasir Arafat, one could say that the award is very well deserved. Congratulations, Mr. Obama! Although that is saying more about the Nobel selection process than it is about Mr. Obama.

It is truely unfortunate that the Nobel Peace prize denegrates the other Nobel prizes for actual real accomplishments, i.e. physics, medicine, etc.

In reality, this is indeed a coup for the leftoid crew(taliban too) as the "One" of Nobel Prise fame wouldn't dare conduct or condone a strike on Iran or put more war mongering troops on the ground in Afghanistan. Brilliant!

Today, as Obama continues with his policy of an "extended hand" to Iran, the Iranians vowed to "blow up the heart" of Isreal.

The once prestigious Nobel Prizes have been usurped by a political adgenda. The Peace Prize has always been contentious but Obama is the CIC conducting two wars in Muslim Lands and will celebrte his peace prize by either increasing Afghanistan Troop Levels and killing more Taliban or drawing the troops out of Iraq throwing that nation into a secular civil war killing more Iraqis, both options will include increased US casualties.

Barney Frank said yesterday that he did not care that the Iraqis do not get along it was time to get out of Iraq no matter the consequences, echoing the leftist not all wars are equal mantra that the President also believes.

The reasons for war are never the driving force as to how they are waged, in a conflict you win or lose then deal with the aftermath there is no tie where both sides go home intact.

I won't repeat that this is a pure but alas very unfunny lefty joke. Al Gore was the cherry on the sundae and Arafat was the gravy on the potatoes but a whole new expression is needed to explain how humongously irrelevant and ultralefty partisan this International award has become.

It is even critisized by CNN this morning saying: "This might actually hurt Obama meaning that higher expectations will surely be demanded of him now" (Now, THAT'S funny!)

Now, knowing Obama is in the dumbster poll wise domestically and that Internationally he is being seen as weak by his enemies (The ones he wants to be buddies with like Iran and Venezuela and Russia) ,naive and ill informed by America's allies (France and others): He would be very shrewed and wise to refuse BUT rededicate his prize to an Ex President who did much to help the cause of peace in the world but was never awarded such prize. Ronald Reagan.

Think of it: In one shot, what Obama could do:

-Gain much needed respect from the Right.
-Send a message to the rogue states that although dialogue and diplomacy is what he underlines the most, he is not weak kneed and will not necessarily give in to threats.
Same thing applies to the ally countries plus respect.

His poll numbers at home would rise I think.

If Obama accepts this award his allready tarnished and increasing exposure as a vain and narcissistic person will be amplified ten fold and will hurt him that much more.

If the Noble establishment think they have helped their hero here, by indirectly and cowardly swinging a LEFT punch at Bush and Conservatives the world overat the same time they are dead wrong.I actually pitty Barry on this one.

Clinton did much more for Peace when he got Israel and Palistine very close to signing an agreement. It was Yassir Arafat (A Noble Peace prize recipient at the time) who walked out on the negotiations.

This morning Bill Clinton would of been a better choice. Reagan even more but you can't expect lefties to be fair and thus "noble", can you?

I predict Barry's narcissism will have the better of him. Too bad for hope and change.

Now to you ET.

Posted by: Ken (Kulak) at October 9, 2009 10:17 AM

I am reminded of a story back in the young days of the internet. Time mag had an on-line poll, and asked for nominations and voting for notable people in various categories. (politics, sport, medicine, etc) - kind of a parallel Nobel process. The goal was to publish "the winners" as selected by the public.

The readers' selection for most influential politician was Kamal Ataturk. An interesting choice, yet justifible, he did bring in many major structural reforms to Turkey, with respect to both culture and language. Then, results were announced for most admired sports figure. Kamal Ataturk. Most influential medical icon. Kamal Ataturk. So on and so forth. (This was one of the first instances of internet poll hijacking).

So, I'm eagerly awaiting announcements in other fields. Maybe he can get the Nobel in literature for "Dreams of My Father". Well, then maybe Ayers would get a bit agitated. . . .

I thought the Nobels jumped the shark when they were considering having Oprah host them a few years ago. Now I know there is no hope.

This could be a total game changer for awarding Olympic medals. Rather than simply doling them out for accomplishments, or as it's known "winning", they should be awarded on the basis of who tries hardest. Awesome.

Posted by: Erik Larsen at October 9, 2009 10:46 AM

No matter how much they hype the idiot, Hussein Obongo will never fail to disappoint.

The Nobel gang of commies jumped the shark a long time ago. They are meaningless and reminiscent of show biz drones who give each other grand awards every spring for dubious achievements such as really bad movies and TV shows that made money ... not to mention what is left of the music industry that award street thug Negroes for evil and very bad poetry to the thumping on hollow logs. Talk about back to the Roots!

With this affirmative action president, the bar is snow set so low that you would have to be a two dimensional being to slip under it and only a double digit intellect to leap over it.

We are experiencing the regression of the human species.

Eric...please...the athletes do try hard, and have real goals, real accomplishments.

The UN head who sat by and did nothing to help stop a genocide on his watch: Check

The Goracle fraud: check

Bomb-chucking terrorist scum: check

By that standard, everone else in the world is more than qualified to win. Why not add to the list of shame and add an empty, preening windbag of no substance?

The previous generations of Nobel committee members must be rolling in their graves.

These eurotard wankers are lost. They are too far down the rabbit hole to retrieve. Delusional nutters can reason fact better than these people.

Obama clearly understands this concept as well as how to tread softly and carry a big stick.

Bush and particularily Cheney never understood these 2 simple concepts and how to negotiate from a position of strength
~not stirred enough said

President Theodore Roosevelt, the man who invented the concept of treading softly and carrying a big stick, was a Republican.

Obama doesn't carry a big stick, he is throwing the big stick and all of it's components in the ash heap and getting no concessions in return.

Let's look at the unilateral scrapping of the Eastern European missile shield. Russia said nyet to any reciprocity.
His diplomacy with Iran and North Korea has yielded nothing. Likewise, the situation in the Middle East is one big "O", nada.

As to Obama catching bees: to date, with all the honey Barry has thrown around, he has caught no bees.
With whom has he been successful?

His diplomacy is a failure.
Obama couldn't even get the IOC to give the 2016 Olymipics to Obama's home town, Chicago.

Well, I was awake here in BC before 4:00am, bad headache. Then the news comes on...breaking news the US successfully bombed the moon. What did the moon do to the people of the US? Then breaking news.... the Big O gets the Peace Prize. WTF! Was I having a bad night mare? No, I just want to crawl back into bed pull the covers over my head and pray that when I wake up it was all a bad dream. Seems like BO is getting too much support from the Muslim world. Does this not come with a Million dollar prize? I didn't think that a sitting prez could except money???
Great, know he's on TV being deeply humbled. Gag me! It is a day to turn TV off, I don't want to get BO all day. Strange frick'n world we live in.

So what is it now, the Nobel potential peace prize?

Posted by: Johann at October 9, 2009 11:27 AM

Some of the many things that Obongo does for peace.

Having a beer with an outraged Negro and a Cambridge cop for peace.
Attempting to destroy the economy of the USA for peace.
Attempting to take over the Health-care system for peace.
Trying to pass an economy destroying cap and tax regime to save the planet from imaginary global warming ... for peace.
Making a fool of himself in Denmark to try to get the Olympics for his crime capital home town .... for peace.
Denying that he has any affiliation with ACORN ... for peace.
Even in his leisure, he never stops working for peace .... Shooting hoops for peace. Eating burgers for peace. Playing golf for peace.

Who says he doesn't deserve an award.

Guantanamo detainee sent to Belgium
U.S. still has 221 prisoners at controversial facility as 2010 closing date looms
Last Updated: Friday, October 9, 2009 | 11:54 AM ET Comments3Recommend4CBC News
Guantanamo Bay detainees, wearing orange jump suits with their hands tied, sit in a holding area as military police patrol in this January 2002 photo released by the U.S. Department of Defence. (U.S. Navy, Shane T.McCoy/Associated Press)The Belgian government says a former detainee of the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay has arrived in the country and will be granted residency.

U.S. President Barack Obama's administration transferred the detainee at the request of the Belgian government.

Belgium's Foreign Ministry said Friday the released detainee arrived earlier this week "as a free man, where all necessary measures have been taken to ensure a smooth integration in society." Belgian officials did not provide the man's name or nationality.

On Thursday, the U.S. also sent a Kuwaiti, Khaled Al Mutairi, back to his home country. He had been taken into custody in 2001 and accused of being a member of al-Qaeda and the Taliban, an accusation his lawyers denied.

The transfers bring the total number of detainees moved out of the prison since Obama took office to 20, leaving 221 inmates still at the facility in Cuba.

Obama, who on Friday received the Nobel Peace Prize for his diplomatic efforts, pledged on his second day on the job last January to close Guantanamo Bay by January 2010.

The prison, opened in 2002 to house captives from the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, has held more than 750 people at one time or another, many for years and the vast majority without charge.

The prison has faced widespread criticism, with organizations ranging from the Red Cross to the U.S. Justice Department and senior Pentagon officials acknowledging that some inmates were tortured.

IF you take the film in general picture

this is start from group
organized crime
behind them are lawyer seating with background of
ADR new resolution to take illegal look legal and hide real face from people

then how drug transfer such as Aftanstan from far east to central america an Europe
and
next was weapon sale to made war and sell it
and
in between who ever came by their hand such as Saadam and Bin Laden was supported by them or
now they target them to defame innocnet Muslim

next was all prosttion behind them
as they hired secrtor and mistress and wife even are include of all dirty women work for them

next was use media to show film of them are hero while in fact they know they are not hero at all

third was newspaper to put some group to gain other group such as who can immgain one man should marry bad women and then take crown to her and famous her to public

next they did target Muslim youth
from age 13 since year 1999 to 2000
by startt year 2006 those kid already
was corrutped by inteleget by Pakstiani who work for USA CIA intellegnt and they
intentionaly with two faced
tell those kid go and made bomb
as you can see 18 children polt also
never go to trail big one of them just went with plea guilty since if they go to trail all name of intelegnect from Canada and USA will show up who were behind this matter

they made Muslim kid intentionaly and teach to how to become criminal from
all
orginzed crime to made bigger fish
and sell more weapona nd drug and made money and bring their prostiton wife to take crown and etc..

this time big guys are in trial
and leave small fish alone

people with small drug of 2 to 7 gram are stay so long in trial while peopel with 40 million to 80 million walk easily in Afgansta and wish to take law and crown and constition right to Muslim in Cnaada to ban them to not talk and how to wear dress

this is more corruption from past and must start fresh with better wish and hope for futgure of children in all countries and do not allow bad to stay with any name of king or PM or president to talk or teach us law and ethic please
